Opening Theme
In total pitch black, not a sound went off or a single thing could be seen. Until one scene opened up with a painting of a beautiful Amazonian/Japanese jungle containing large and rich city in it. Then a deep old voice appeared, saying…
"Long ago in a distant land," The voice showed itself as a large, flat black demon with a green face. "I, Aku, the shapeshifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil!"
There were multiple images of Aku showing his wrath of power terrorizing the city. Until it showed a painting of a scarlet macaw wearing a white robe, flying forward and holding a…
"But a foolish samurai warrior, wielding a magic sword, stepped forth to oppose me." Then the scarlet stepped in front of the giant, before revealing images of him slicing the demon with the sword and his fighting skills. Then it showed Aku weak on the ground, and the scarlet macaw was ready for the last step.
"Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future!" The scarlet got sucked into said portal and uncontrollably flew through black and white rings. "Where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku!"
Then the scarlet macaw appeared in a new world. The future of his home where he met aliens, fought robots and all kinds of foes, and faced many obstacles to return to his era.
"Gotta get back, back to the past, Samurai Jax! (Watch out!) Gotta get back, back to the past, Samurai Jax! (Watch out!) Jax, Jax, Jax, Jax! Gotta get back, back to the past, Samurai Jax! (Watch out!)"
Then it showed a red painting of the scarlet's face, making a serious scowl. Ready for the next fight.
Scene I
The sun was showing itself up in the sky. It was a beautiful day out in a lowly desert. No sound, no living creatures around. Until, out of the dusty hot air, there came a scarlet macaw wearing a white robe and straw hat walking on a long road. The scarlet appeared to have been walking on it for hours on the hot day while carrying his magic sword. But the macaw was nothing ordinary. He was known by many folks. The magic wielder, the ancient blade, the wandering warrior, and…Samurai Jax.
On the current point of his journey, he tried to find a new way back home, but was delayed once again to do something more heroic than what was determined by fate.
After walking for so long, he stopped and took a look at a map he took out of his sleeve. It was a map of the land he was on, and he said to himself, "Unless those junkers scammed me, this map says that there is a city very close from here. A city that has its own top scientists that can help me create a new time portal." He folded up the map, put it back in his sleeve, and continued walking. Things were still silent, but as Jax continued moving, he saw a huge sandstorm coming. So he held his sword and straw hat after hitting the deck.
The sandstorm was huge, and didn't stop until after a few minutes. Once it did, the macaw stood up but heard something else coming.
"What? Is that a…motorbike?"
It was a motorcycle, and there didn't seem to be a driver. It was a robotic autopilot, with a mad look, and it was coming in fast. So Jax stood his ground, let it come further. Then he drew his sword out and jumped over the bike!
At a moment of slow motion, he sliced the machine in half. After Jax landed on his talons, the machine exploded, having its pieces fly all over the place.
Jax sighed, "Ugh…bounty hunters. The sooner I leave this time, the better." He continued walking, pretending that that quick fight never happened. Like he did with every battle he survived from. All he wanted was to return to his era and stop the evil demon, Aku, from creating the future of eternal tyranny across the world. So he just continued on, straight until the dust finally cleared.
"Yes!" Jax silently cheered as he saw the giant city he was looking for. He brought out his map and tore it apart, thinking he didn't need it anymore and ran in. He contained his excitement and walked around. Seeing massive structures, shops with advanced tech, food, and other things that made his hopes grow higher. Except for one detail, which was the people.
Jax walked around more and didn't see any birds closeby. All around town it looked like a ghost town…for everything was empty.
"Hello! Is anybody here?!" Jax yelled, before he noticed a cup on one of the park benches. It was filled with water and he said, "It's warm. Wherever the citizens are, they can't be too far." He left the cup alone and continued walking. Still no one else was visible after fifteen minutes until Jax finally did see someone come. He saw a young shaggy dog running and stopped in front of him.
"Well hello there, my little friend." He kneeled down and petted the dog, and it licked his wings. "Haha. I don't suppose your owner is a scientist."
The dog acted a little cheerful around Jax. And it appeared to be beaten. The poor thing looked like it hadn't seen a friendly bird in days. And Jax was about to see why, as he heard more wheels coming. The dog whimpered as he ran behind Jax, so he drew his sword out again, expecting another autopilot motorbike to come by. But instead, he saw three of them and a bird riding in the middle one laughing.
"Hahaha! Come here, you stupid dog! We're not done with my-whoa!" The bird immediately stopped his bikes, noticing Jax.
"Well hello there, stranger." He said, and Jax replied, "Hello, sir. Is this your dog?"
"Yes. I was trying to take my little rascal with me to the evacuation party until he ran off like always. By the way, are you lost or something? Why aren't you evacuating with everyone?"
"Evacuating? Is that why this town is empty? What did everybody leave for?"
"Gosh, I guess you're new then." The bird jumped off of his bike and revealed his sharp metal talons. He was even wearing a black jumpsuit. But neither of those things surprise Jax. Then he continued, "Look, my new young scarlet friend. The people of this town evacuated here because of a virus that was unleashed two hours ago."
"Really? I've only been here for less than twenty minutes. And you say you're here because of your dog?"
"No lie about it, buddy. Animals can't be infected the same way us birds can, and I…wait a second. Did you say you've only been here for less than twenty minutes?"
"Yes?"
The bird was surprised before he shook his head in disappointment. "Tisk, tisk, tisk. In that case…" The bird pulled a power gun out of his holster. "I'm sorry, buster."
"What are you doing?" Jax kept his sword up.
"This virus that I just mentioned is extremely dangerous. It can cause a bird to molt a little. Then cause their skin to turn purple, it can make you cough severely, and eventually kill you. If you've been here for that long, then that means you've already been contaminated. And it's my job to destroy any contamination left."
"So your idea is to kill me sooner? What about you?"
"My jump suit protects me, and right now I need you and my dog to hold still so this way your final moment can be easy for all of us."
"What?" He looked back at the whimpering pooch. "So you were the one who has beaten this defenseless animal."
"Defenseless? My friend, my mutt and I have been fighting for a while now. He's tougher than he looks but like you, he needs to go."
Jax scowled at him and stood his ground. "No. You're not going to kill me and you're not going to hurt this poor creature anymore."
"Oh? If that's how you feel then…" the bird began shooting his gun at Jax. But he quickly used his sword to deflect every blast that came right at him.
"Whoa." Said the bird as he stopped shooting and noticed that all the blasts…went straight to the other two motorcycles. They then fell apart and the bird jumped back on his bike and yelled, "Grr! You're gonna pay for that, pal!" He brought his gun out again and kept shooting. But not before Jax put his sword back in his holster, carried the dog, and ran away.
"Get back here!"
Jax kept running, not showing any fear but determination, trying to keep himself and the dog from getting shot at.
After making a quick zoom, he reached a dead end wall between apartments but the bird didn't lose track of him. He stopped, and he and Jax made their own standoff.
"Listen, red." Said the bird. "I know we just met and you think it's weird to see me turn on you this fast. But right now, I only care about my job. I'm sure you would understand if you had your own."
"If you only knew." Jax said in his head. Then as the standoff continued, the bird moved his bike straight towards him, but Jax didn't move. He stood his ground again, and made a smiling scowl before he used the same skill he put on against the first bike. After doing that, Jax and the dog were safe, and the bird crashed into the wall.
"Not a bounty hunter but definitely someone crazy." Jax said after sitting down to breathe by a park bench.
The two reached the bench, and the dog cuddled on Jax's lap. Which meant he was thanking him.
"Aw. Do not worry, my friend. That crash didn't kill him but it will teach him not to mess with you again. And now all I have do is find out where-"
"Don't move!" Said another stranger.
Jax turned to see another bird wearing the same black jumpsuit but no metal talons, and he had brown feathers. He wasn't using a power gun though, but something that looked like a wrist watch. Jax stood up and was ready to use his sword again, but instead of fighting, the two just stood there, and the other bird put his weapon down as he made his eyes open wide. Looking shocked before he said, "Alex?"
End of Scene I
More Notes & Disclaimers:
• "The sun was showing itself": That's pretty much how most of the episodes of Samurai Jack start.
• "ghost town": Or the same way New York looked during that one movie, "I Am Legend."
• "your owner is a scientist": In this universe, it's just birds that rule like humans and are as tall as them, so other animals are just the same as they are in the real world.
What do you think? Another universe where birds live as earth's humans. Only Alex the Scarlet Macaw is the world's legendary hero, Samurai Jax.
Though I admit the way I wrote that chapter was not too exciting. But with Samurai Jack they made the scenery and everything go by slowly, and this is my first Samurai Jack based fanfiction. Either way, I hope it's a little good in some way and there'll be more coming.
This was originally named "Samurai Al", but then I eventually thought "Samurai Jax," thinking that sounded like a better combination to Alex and Jack.
Now in the show Samurai Jack, the main character got the name Jack because the first people he met in the future thought he was cool with his samurai skills. But in this universe, the scarlet got the name Jax instead. This part was just the theme song and first scene, so there'll be more coming soon.
One more thing: This whole fanfiction is also inspired by a specific episode of Bill Bixby's The Incredible Hulk series.
