Chapter 5
Time was running out for the ninjas, as they raced across the rooftops, nearing their destination. According to Daiki, the Kraang mutagen bomb was set on top of a hotel downtown. The Wolf Hotel.
And there and behold on the rooftop, they found it. A giant tank filled to the brim with mutagen, surrounded by Kraang-droids. At the controls of the bomb, one of the Kraang mentioned that the bomb would be going off in five minutes, but was interrupted half way through when his head seemingly exploded out of nowhere.
Using exploding arrows, the Hamato ninjas managed to clear out the Kraang that had been at the base of the bomb on the roof. Mikey taking the right, and Raph covering the front and back. While Daiki took the left side, throwing exploding shurikens at all their heads, before regrouping in front of the bomb with the two turtles. While Miwa jumped to the top of the mutagen bomb, shooting arrows at the Kraang-droids that weren't already being targeted by her brothers or Daiki.
She heard the sound of a gun powering up behind her. But before she could look, there was a quick yell and the sound of slicing metal. The Kraang-droid fell from the bomb, cut clean in half by Leonardo, its squid like brain squeaked in fear as it plummeted all the way down to the roof below. Miwa and Leo nodded to each other, before the two of them jumped from the top of the bomb.
"Okay Daiki, it's up to you." Leonardo said following the group to the bombs control panels. Pulling it open, Daiki froze when he saw the complicated alien bomb in front of him. "Uh oh," he muttered.
"Uh oh?" Leo repeated anxiously. "You said you knew how to do this?"
"I didn't count on a design this complex, Leonardo!" said Donnie just as anxious.
"They're aliens from another dimension," said Leo with a nervous laugh. "What did you expect? A big round ball with a lit fuse that said 'bomb'?"
Daiki glared at him, "No! but this-"
Raphael pushed Leonardo out of the way, cutting him off sarcastically saying, "Boy, I sure hope this argument goes on for another four minutes and fifteen seconds!" Before smacking the back of Daiki's head.
Rubbing his head, the foot soldier turned his attention back to the bomb. Scrutinizing over his next move, making sure to be carefu- "Careful!" Miwa reminded unhelpfully, making Daiki whip around to give her a hard stare before slowly turning back to the bomb. He reached towards it again, making sure to watch out for- "Watch out for those wires" Raphael prompted. "You guys are not helping!" Daiki warned them.
It was then that Mikey reached over in an attempt to help, "what if we just push this button-"
"Don't you think you've pushed enough buttons tonight?" Raphael yelled as he twisted Mikey's wrist.
"Daiki, You're gonna have to speed this up" Leonardo said urgently. "I cannot work with all this pressure!" He yelled back, trying to block them all out as he concentrated. Leonardo was about to reply, when he noticed a small 'thud' behind him, "Um, that might be a problem."
They turned to see the familiar faces of Shredders henchman, standing on the hotel's sign, snarling at them. The four Hamatos prepared themselves for the oncoming fight, as the two men launched themselves forward. Leo, Raph, Mikey, and Miwa rushed forward to meet them head on, leaving Daiki to defuse the bomb.
"You guys picked a really bad time for this!" shouted Leo in an attempt to get them to leave, Xever jumped away from him. "Oh sorry for the inconvenience," he said sarcastically. "When would you prefer to breath your last breath?"
"If that thing goes off, it'll wipe usallout!" Leo said, blocking Xever's attack.
Bradford scoffed, lifting his sword. "I'd rather die with honor, than live in shame." He said as he swung his sword at Raph, who managed to dodge and headbutt him in the face, to which the man yelled out in pain.
"And You!" Bradford said in a snarky tone, recovering quickly to glare at the third foot on the roof. "The Foot Clan have been searching the city all night for the turtles, and yet your here, helping them!"
Daiki tensed furiously at the man. "Unless you two idiots want to be mutated along with half of the city, I suggest you back off and let me work!" He screamed at them before turning back to the bomb taking deep and calming breaths, "You can do this, Morikawa," he said, trying to boost his confidence. "You've disarmed bombs before, this is the same thing...just ten times more complicated..."
"Would you hurry up and defuse the bomb!" Raph shouted at Daiki. "We're dealing with a couple nut jobs here!"
"BE QUIET!" screamed Daiki back as he started to feel the pressure.
The fight continued while he raced to disarm the bomb, the Hamatos, giving it everything they had. Xever kicked Leo and Mikey hard to the ground, while Bradford threw Miwa and Raph in the opposite direction. Xever then saw Raph hit the ledge of the roof and ran straight for him, leaping and arching his legs to deliver a hard blow. But he just misses as Raphael dashed under him scowling. In that time Bradford had defeated Leo and Mikey, while Miwa was still trying to get her bearings.
Daiki had almost finished, but was now faced with a new problem. "I'm down to two wires...but which do I cut...black or green?" He asked himself nervously.
"Go for the green!" Mikey called, before being punched by Bradford moments later.
Daiki looked over at him for a moment hesitating, before whirling around again when he heard a sudden beeping, counting down to the last five seconds. His hands were starting to shake, with the wire cutters still in them, set around the black wire. The beeping accelerated. He clenched his eyes tight. "Eh, why not…?" The wire cutters moved down to the green wire, and snapped. He braced himself for the explosion.
But just like that, the bomb beeped once more, before powering down, "It's off…" Daiki whispered to himself in bewilderment, as he began to take in what had happened. He pivoted around in pure shock, pulling his mask down so he could be heard clearly. "Mikey! You were right!" he yelled out astonished, as he grabbed his bō staff and made his way up onto the platform of the bomb where all the other ninjas were currently fighting. He leapt into the air as soon as he was up and gave a kick straight to Xever's head, stopping said man from stomping on Raphael. Said man sent a glare at Daiki, who just stood smugly with his arms crossed, acting innocent. While Raphael took the opportunity to punch Xever in the face, sending him flying backwards.
"Aw look at you two getting along." Miwa joked as Daiki and Raph joined her and the others, just in time to see they had cornered Bradford.
With both the men in front of the bomb, back to back.
Leonardo raised his swords to them, smirking. "You are worthy adversaries," he said in his best Captain Ryan voice, "But the fight is ours. Lay down your weapons."
"Never," Xever snarled. Bradford tightened his grip on his sword, glaring at them all.
"You don't have a choice," laughed Miwa amused. "You've lost."
"If I'm going down..." said Bradford as he lifted his sword, eyeing the bomb slightly, before staring at the ninjas and the foot boy, "I'm taking you with me." And with that, he rammed his sword into the glass beside him.
"No!" yelled Daiki, as he tried to run over and stop Chris, only to be pulled clear of the ooze by Miwa and Raph, missing the green sludge by the skin of his teeth.
Bradford and Xever on the other hand, didn't have a luck on their side, as they were doused in sudden wave of ooze as the glass gave way, pouring out the entire bomb onto the two fools, and washing them away of the side of the building.
Without mutagen inside of it, the bomb shut itself down, and the ninjas exchanged glances before immediately bursting out cheering.
Leo looked at the aftermath of the bomb proudly, before turning to his team. Miwa and Raph were giving each other a well deserved bro hug, while Daiki stood to the side smiling as Mikey explained his 'awesome bomb defusing skills' to him. However Mikey quickly changed his attitude, when he saw Daiki glancing at the trail of mutagen.
"Ummm sorry about thoses guys, D...?" Mikey said, unsure of how Daiki had taken it.
"It's fine Mikey, those idiots got what they deserved." He replied shrugging, looking back at the orange turtle before giving him a tentative shoulder pat and walking across the roof.
"So to sum up," Leo began smugly, joining his team again, "We kicked the butts of the Kraang and Shredder's top henchmen while defusing a bomb and saving the city." Raph leant on Miwa smirking, "Yeah, we're not cocky." Miwa smirked back, "We're just that good." The four siblings high fived, cheering happily amongst themselves for their well deserved victory. Daiki watched on from where he stood alone, feeling a tiny hint of jealousy, but also something else...
*Beep*
The sound of a notification on his phone brought him out of his thoughts. Opening said device, he skimmed through the new text before looking back up at the Hamato's almost longingly, before pocketing the device and walking up to them.
"Yo D! Get in on this group hug bro!" Mikey said, waving him over ecstatically, to which Raph and Miwa exchanged weary glances, and Leo looked up at him with an unreadable expression.
Having all eyes on him, he felt suddenly flustered, "Um sorry Mikey, but I'm not too big on hugs..." He said awkwardly, walking up to said turtle, "I helped you defuse the bomb, like I said, so I'll be off before my Master figures out I've been gone." The Foot Ninja stated simply as he began to back up slowly.
"Daiki, hold on a second," Leonardo shouted after him, "If you hadn't of taken out the bomb, half of the city would've been mutated. So, Thank you for your help." He finished by holding out his hand, a sign of trust.
"Oh, umm thats ok" Daiki said turning back to him, pausing for a moment, before giving him a tentative handshake back. He could'nt help but notice how big the turtles hand was, his whole hand was the same size as Leonardo's finger. "Just keep me updated on those alien squids won't you? You never know when you'll need me again for 'Mutant bombs'."
"Just one problem with that?" Leo asked uncertainly. "We don't have a way of contacting you without getting the entire foot after us in the process?"
Daiki thought for a moment before grabbing out a small phone, waving it in the air, "Well, I have a spare phone you could use? The GPS tracker is off. So you can't find me, and I can't find you, even if I wanted too." He joked awkwardly. "The only way to find each other's location is too tell them where you are."
"Oh really?" Raph laughed bitterly, while Miwa scoffed along with him, adding, "And what makes you think we're dumb enough to actually call you?"
"Well, I gave Mikey a phone yesterday? And he's been texting me all night about his toes names? And I haven't come knocking on your door with the foot, have I?" Daiki replied smugly, crossing his arms and flashing them his gap-toothed grin.
Michelangelo gulped.
"HE WHAT!?!" Miwa and Raph yelled simultaneously, throwing hard glares at said orange turtle.
Leonardo sighed, annoyed with the bickering, "Daiki, We'll call you if we spot any more Krangg activity that we could use your help with. But we'll only phone OR message-" he shot a glare at Mikey, "-when we are outside of our... home. Just to be sure." He said, before looking back at him, taking the phone.
Daiki nodded back. "No problem." He replied, as he walked away from them, "Oh Raphael, Miwa?" He spoke in an unsure voice, facing them sideways, "Thanks for the save earlier." The two Hamatos looked shocked by his thanks but nodded to him in respect. As the foot ninja took off, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, before disappearing completely.
Leonardo watched him go, only to turn around and be faced with a smug looking Mikey, "Soooo? I told you guys he wanted to help! He totally saved the city by stopping the bomb, I told you he was good!!" He said smiling like a mad man while pointing at his family in a mocking way.
"Ah, he got lucky, that's all." Raphael replied back, "YOU! On the other hand, ain't so lucky!" He yelled as he pounced onto Mikey's shell, shouting about why you shouldn't text your enemies, especially if you've only known them for a couple of hours.
"Leo, Are you sure we can trust him?" Miwa asked, apprehensive about the whole thing. "To be honest, I'm not sure." Leo replied, "But we need to take into account that he was the one to actually take out the bomb. If it weren't for him, then I'd hate to think of what might of happened-" He finished abruptly, turning when a sudden, and deep voice rang out behind him and his siblings.
"Your skills are impressive," the voice boomed, the three other ninjas stopped what they were doing suddenly, pivoting on the spot, to look at the source of the voice.
On top of the deactivated bomb, stood a man, completely covered in sharp iron armor. Even his face was covered, except for a menacing black eye and a blind one, glaring down at them. Said eyes stayed on the girl for a while, before turning towards the mutant brothers. He jumped from the bomb and landed in front of them, crouching.
"But they willnotsave you," he finished as he shifted into a fight ready stance.
Mikey's eyes widened in fear as he remembered what Splinter had said about the Foots Leader. "Oh man," He gulped nervously, looking at the others. "Do you think that's that Shredder dude Sensei's always on about?"
"Well it's definitelyaShredder," said Raph, sarcastically.
"There is undoubtedly a fascinating story in how my old nemesis came to teach ninjutsu to three mutant turtles." The man echoed, eyeing them like a wolf does a rabbit. Slowly scanning each of them in turn, "Perhaps I will let one of you live long enough to tell it-" He stopped himself abruptly, as he looked to the kunoichi of the group more closely. "Miwa?" He said in bewilderment, looking into her amber eyes he felt himself getting nostalgic, "You have your Mother's eyes..."
Miwa, on the other hand, glared daggers at the man, clutching her tantō, "Don't you dare talk about my Mother, you murderer!" She yelled fueled by rage, readying her stance. The turtles only had a few seconds to also get their weapons out and launch towards the man, as he came at them like lightning.
The Hamatos soon learnt why the Shredder was a man to be feared however, as he took them all down in almost 5 minutes total.
He kicked Raphael straight into the Hotel's sign, causing him to be electrocuted.
Leonardo, was disarmed, and then kicked hard in the plastron, sending him several meters across the roof, with Miwa, he smackedher shoulder with his gauntlet, before hitting her with a strong backhand punch in the stomach, straight into Leonardo. And he practically threw Mikey off the roof, though the turtle managed to grab the edge with his kusarigama and pull himself back up.
Leonardo yelled as he grabbed his swords once more before running at the Shredder, with Miwa making her over to join him, while Mikey ran to check on Raphael, who was now getting back up, but was still slightly shaken from his electrocution.
With all four of them back up once more, they went at their opponent again, throwing everything they had at him, until Michelangelo managed to temporarily hang him by his arm with his kusarigama chain.
The Shredder however, cut through the chain and the hotel's sign, bringing one of the letters down on top of Mikey. The letters fortunately for the turtle, had a dent in the back with just enough space for him to duck into so not to get crushed, until his siblings were able to lift the sign up and pull him out.
The four teens stood breathless, as they prepared themselves for round three as the Armored Man came at them once again. But it was a losing game, The Shredder had beat them easily, and he hadn't even broken a sweat.
By the end of it, Leonardo was pinned under his gauntlet, and the other Hamatos were struggling to get back to their feet to help him.
"Tell me where Hamato Yoshi is, and I promise you turtles will have a swift demise." the Shredder promised grimly, as he extended the middle blade of his gauntlet toward Leonardo's neck. The Hamato leader stared at the coming blade in fear, until he saw something suddenly appear behind the armored man.
A harsh gasping sound behind the Shredder, startled the ninja so much, he released the turtle, to turn and see where it was coming from. Laying helplessly on the ground gasping in pain, was a mutant piranha fish with human-like arms. "Help... meee…" the fish rasped in a familiar voice.
Another figure, larger then the other, crawled forward, this one looking more like a mutant Shiba-Inu. The giant dog also groaned out in familiar sounding voice. "What is this!" demanded the Shredder, so distracted by the sudden appearance of the new mutants, that he failed to see Leo being dragged away by his siblings, who took his distraction as their chance to escape. "Xever? Bradford!?" He bellowed in confusion, but then realizing that he had lost his prey, the Shredder let out a roar of rage. "NOOOO!"
Back in Lair
After checking to see if they were followed, the four teens returned to their sewer home. The atmosphere that covered the lair, was already an unsettling one. Splinter left the kitchen from making April some calming tea, too see his returning sons and daughter all beaten and bloody, and had immediately set to tending to their injuries.
Mikey lay on his plastron on the pits couch, with his arm bandaged, bloody splotches already appearing. Miwa leaned against a support beam, arms crossed and avoiding any eye contact. Raphael punched the pinball machine after it made a slightly cheerful ding with a grunt of frustration, before sinking to the ground in defeat.
When Leonardo walked to the pit, he looked around at his team, before settling his eyes on a disheartened April. Said red-head, was leaning her head on her knees, trying to be positive, but failing miserably.
So Leonardo took it upon himself to tell his father the whole story, with April joining him on the parts she was there for. Once the story was done, they all fell into silence once more, as the events of the night were still fresh in their minds.
"You were all very lucky," said Splinter, once he had tended to Miwa's last injury.
"I think we define that word differently, Sensei," Raph said deadpan.
"Few have ever faced the Shredder and survived," Splinter said.
Mikey sniffled and touched his aching arm. Seeing this, Miwa went to him and gave her little brother a hug, to which he leant in closer, seeking comfort.
"He was just so fast…" Mikey spoke up.
"Yeah," agreed Miwa, remembering how the creep had complimented her.
"I guess there are some things we're just not ready for," Leo said, looking at the ground defeated. "We didn't stand a chance against him."
Splinter placed a comforting paw on his shoulder. "Perhaps… But that no longer matters, It is clear now that the Shredder is a problem that will not go away," Splinter continued. "So prepare yourselves, my children. Because as of this moment, we are at war."
Back on Roof
As the Shredder stood over what used to be his two human henchmen, he watched as a manhole cover shifted from where he presumed the turtles had slithered back into the sewers, taking his beloved's daughter with them. Growling in rage, he straightened up slightly when he heard a creaking come from behind him.
A Foot soldier, leapt down from the broken Wolf Hotel's sign, before dropping to a bow before his Sensei. Shredder stayed where he was, without turning to addressed him. "You were indeed right, Morikawa." He said with suppressed sadness, "Miwa is alive."
"Hai Master, I'm sorry I didn't realise sooner." Daiki replied regretfully, turning his head away in shame, only to look horrified at the two giant mutants laying semi-conscious on the roof.
"You did your job, you found my daughter. These two idiots were the only failures tonight." The Shredder spoke looking at his 'Men' in disgust, as Daiki joined him.
Saki looked up with blood shot eyes to glare towards the streets below, "You will be mine, Little One." He whispered to himself.
"Help me bring theses imbeciles back." The Shredder gruffed out to Daiki, grabbing hold of the giant dog's paw, as if it were that of a normal sized dog, carrying it off the roof in ease.
The boy stood still for a moment, hesitating, before finally getting the unconscious fish and dragging it of off the roof with him. Miwa had said that Saki was a murderer...
Daiki knew that the Shredder had killed people before, he had vowed to wipe out every Hamato, and made true too his word.
He would never of murdered his Wife. So Hamato Yoshi had lied to Miwa, and convinced her that her own father killed her mother?
That terrifying fact gave him a thought, perhaps he could show Mikey the truth? He could convince the two other turtles and Miwa aswell of Yoshi's true nature.
It's not too late.
He could still save them from that monster...
That murderer...
Note from Me!: Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Any feedback or reviews would be great!
- I feel like the Shredder wouldn't do the whole chemical explosion in the sewers thing if he know Miwa was down there? But somehow between 'the Gauntlet' and 'Panic in the sewers' he finds out that the turtles were in the sewers? So I thought to include how he know as it was never said?
- The story is based along the same sort of story as the show. but obviously it will change, as 'Donnie' is not present and neither is 'Karai' things will hopefully make sense soon!
Thanks again for reading! :D
