Chapter 8

The late November night was harsh and cold. And New York seemed quiet for once. As the night was calm, so was the Foot Clan for once. As the Shredder had gone out earlier that evening. Leaving the henchman alone. So the men gathered in the throne room, watching for Baxter's contraption to final work.

Daiki was sitting on the stairs leading up to Shredder's throne, with Bradford a few steps up behind him. As they watched Baxter work on the contraption that would eventually allow Xever to walk and breathe again. In theroy.

Once the final touches were done, Xever was finally able to stand, though struggling. Making Bradford start to chuckle. "Aw, the mermaids growing legs!"

Daiki glanced back at the dog before whispering to him, "Just needs her voice back now." Which only made the mutant laugh louder.

"Please!" Baxter scolded the two of them like snickering kids. "Settle down".

Daiki scoffed under his breath, as Bradford growled quietly. As Baxter turnt his full attention back to the mutant fish. "Xever, get ready to walk!"

With the click of a button, Xever started to take a step, then a few more steps, till he was actually walking. Making both Daiki and Bradford sit up slightly in anticipation.

That was, until the device malfunctioned, making a sharp spark noise. Sending Xever's legs out of control. Making him sudden run into the doors, then making him slam into the stairs on the other side.

At that point, Bradford had fully lost it, and was laughing his head off at the poor fish. Daiki had to cover his mouth to keep himself from laughing as well.

"Fix this, or I will bite your head off!" Xever snapped at Baxter, only to be kicked in the face by his broken legs.

Baxter was frantically hitting and slamming the device, until it shut itself down. Allowing the fish a moment of peace. Before a harsh voice changed the atmosphere in the room to a more serious one.

"Baxter Stockman," Shredder's voice startled the man, as he looked behind him to see the Foot Clan leader glaring down at him in disappointment.

"Mr. Shredder! Uh, how long have you been standing there?" Baxter asked through chattering teeth.

"Long enough to witness your failure." Shredder spat back, making the man shrink more. "My patience is wearing thin."

Baxter nods frantically, "Yes, Sir! It's just the control mechanism is proving trickier-"

"Enough!" Shredder yelled, "If he is not walking soon, you won't be either. I will give you one more chance, and then I will start removing limbs." After he finished intimidating Baxter, he turned round to look at his two soldiers sitting on the stairs. Making them immediately move into position.

"Master." Daiki said bowing,

"Master Shredder." Bradford joined him on the floor.

Shredder looked over his men and scowled "I have brought a new soldier with me,"

Both the soldiers tensed.

"One that will not fail me as you all have." Shredder sneered as he looked amongst his army of children and mutants. "I bring with me, The most feared assassin in all of Asia. Tigerclaw."

The doors flung open. Presenting Tiger Claw to the rest of the henchman. A large and muscular humanoid tiger, with two piercing yellow eyes scanning them all. His outfit has somewhat of a bounty hunter look, consisting of a blue shirt with sleeves rolled up, brown shirt vest over it, a jetpack, a blue scarf around his neck, a bullet belt around his waist, and brown pants with pouches for what looked like pistols on his thighs. And though his tail had been cut clean off, leaving nothing but a stub. He was still as intimidating as a could be.

"Another mutant?" Daiki muttered out. Earning a equally irritated glance from Bradford.

Tigerclaw surveyed the room, taking in the henchman one at a time before scoffing. "This is the Foot clan you promised me? I must say, Master Shredder, I am disappointed." He said in a deep Japanese accent.

"Well, I would have wanted to see a fully intacted Tiger. But I guess we can't all have what we want, can we?" Daiki snarked sarcastically, while crossing his arms.

The mutant growled at the boy. "Don't mock me, child. It was a rival who sliced off my tail. One day I will find it, and she will pay the price!"

Daiki scoffed, "I'm just saying-"

"Be quiet, Morikawa." Shredder shot to the boy, shutting him up instantly. Before looking to both his standing henchman. "You two will treat Tiger Claw with utmost respect. He is my new second in command."

This time, it was Bradford's turn to provoked. "What!? I've earned that job! I've been working up to that position my whole life."

In the corner, Xever could be heard quietly chuckling to himself. As Baxter slapped his side in warning with a nervous face.

The Shredder was getting impatient at the lack of respect in his men. Pulling out his Gauntlet blade, he glared at the soldiers. "Enough! You are not to disobey him." His yell echoing across the room. "Am I Understood?"

"Hai, Master." Both soldiers answered simultaneously, not looking their Master in the eye.

"Tiger Claw, and myself have some preparations to sort out for next week. You four are dismissed till further notice."

"Hai, Master Shredder." Bradford bowed once more, before turning to leave.

The Shredder put a heavy hand on Daiki's shoulder, stopping him in his tracks. "Master?" He questioned, but The Man only looked at him, telling him to be silent until spoken too. While he nodded for the others to continue leaving. Bradford helped Baxter carry Xever out the room and to the lab. Leaving just the Tiger and the two humans alone.

"Your mission is to find Splinter, the Turtles and my daughter. Everything else is a distraction, Morikawa."

"A distraction?" Dakki instantly asked, confused as to what he could be referring too.

"Your obsession with these science projects, the experiments, and these robots you keep on about, will stop tonight, understood." The armoured man stated bluntly. Leaving no room for discussion.

But Daiki couldn't just sit there, "Master, I don't think what I do is a distraction. There are mutants in this city. Alien robots who have power so great, they could take over our world! Yoshi's own disciples are giant freaking turtles! Your own men got turned into monsters! My 'experiments' are proving to be useful! Don't you think we should be trying to figure out what's going on in this messed up city?"

Daiki noticed out the corner of his eye that Tigerclaw seemed to look intrigued by something he had said. But he continued on with his point regardless. "I mean, there's more important things in life than vendetta-"

"There is nothing more important to me, boy!" The Armoured man bellowed across the room, making Daiki freeze up instantly. While Tigerclaw was silently impressed at the sheer level of angry this man truly had. "Have you forgotten what Hamato Yoshi did to me?" He spat harshly, walking around the boy, "To us!?" Daiki had to look away painfully.

"Every day that Splinter lives is a stain on our honor that we must wipe clean. You are to stay focused on your mission, Morikawa. Or there will be consequences."

"Yes, Master." The brunette replied, pulling up his mask and hood, before quietly leaving the room.

He sighed once the doors had closed behind him, and made his way to the rooftops to start another night of tedious surveying. Only to get a sudden *beep* on his phone from a certain orange clad turtle.

The sudden text on his phone read about a old lady Kraang-droid attacking a certain Redhead in her school. Mikey gave him the location of a building they were going to investigate, and invited him to join.

"All I need is evidence... What I do isn't a distraction." He muttered to himself in determination.

And soon enough Daiki was on the move across the rooftops. Wind rushing past his ears as he moved. He gazed at the dark buildings, his eyes wondering, when he finally caught sight of four figures. The Turtles and Miwa.

The ninjas were only a few buildings away from where he stood, and were slowly making their way over to him. Daiki sat on the billboard behind him, waiting for the girl and the mutants to come to him.

Unaware that he too, had a watcher.

TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT

The Hamatos ran swiftly across the rooftops, scanning the area for the facility of the Worldwide Genome Project. They eventually landed on a rooftop with a billboard, right next to the building. They walked over to the edge and looked down. Right in front of them was the facility, a huge, round building that didn't look too out of the ordinary.

"Is Daiki here yet?" said Leo surveying the building ahead. "We can't wait forever."

Mikey looked around too for his friend. "He will be, Bro. Just give him a minute."

"I still think you two are too trusting of him." Raphael grunted out as he joined them.

"He's proved himself useful, Raph. Besides if he was going to lead us into a trap, don't you think he would have done so already?" Leo remarked.

"I'm just saying. He's still the enemy. And you guys are acting like he's part of the team."

"Well, what about Miwa?" Leo asked in question.

"I don't really care to be honest. I'm just annoyed that I have to wait here, instead of kicking some Kraang around. All because you want to wait for your scrawny friend." She huffed out annoyed.

"I'm not scrawny! I'm svelte!"

The Hamatos turnt instantly at the voice behind them. To see the foot soldier sat next to them on the billboard.

"Whatever you say, scrawny." Miwa chuckled.

"Took you long enough." Raphael gruffed out. Walking to the edge again.

"Good to see you too, Raphael." Daiki snarked. Jumping down to join the others.

It took them a few minutes to get up the building and climb onto the roof. Where they looked around and found the roof entrance. Only to found the door was...

"Locked," Leo said as he backed away from the door.

"So how do we get in?" Raph asked.

Daiki bent down and studied the lock, pulling out his phone and what looked like a digital lock pick. "I've got an app for that."

At that, all four Hamatos looked at each other in confusion as Daiki walked up to the door. He put his lock pick in the lock, connected it to his phone, and started pressing buttons.

"This could take a while," Miwa muttered to herself.

Raph marched over to the door and looked down at Daiki.

"I've got an app for that, too." He said with a smile. And without another word, Raphael reared his foot back. Daiki was quick to pull his pick out in time before Raphael slammed his foot against the door, kicking it open. All the ninjas walked in, smirking as they passed the irritated Daiki.

"His app worked pretty good, huh?" Mikey said holding in a laugh.

"Oh, Shut it!" Daiki snapped, slapping his shell.

Mikey giggled as he walked through the door, Daiki following right behind him.

As soon as they were inside, the feeling that something wasn't right hit them almost instantaneously.

"Yah know," Mikey whispered as they snuck through the corridor. "For a human lab, this place is awfully Kraang-y."

"Guys!" Leo whispered in realisation. "I think the Kraangarethe Worldwide Genome Project!"

Before they could speculate the theory further however, they reached a small rectangular door. Leonardo opened it, and the five quickly ran inside and hid.

Two Kraang-droids were inside the room standing guard of something. They had obviously heard the door closing, and turned around to find the cause. But as they turnt, they came face to face with Mikey who had snuck up behind them. Whispering a quick "Booyakasha…".

Before they could pull their guns, Daiki sprang up from where he was hiding and smashed the two robots to the ground with his bō. Raphael and Leo quickly ran up to the droids and started dragging them over to a spare room. Where they threw the robots in and quickly shut the glass door. The Kraang popped out of their robot bodies and stuck to the glass, squealing at the ninjas.

"Now, you two play nice in there," Raph said, smirking as he put a taunting finger on the glass.

The room they found themselves in was circular in shape. With a giant mutagen tanker in the center of the room above a control panel. There were also wall columns all around the room, filled with some kind of liquid. All different colors, with different pictures on them.

"What're those?" Leo asked, staring at the colorful columns.

"Well, it looks like they're collecting DNA samples from every plant and animal species on earth," Daiki answered, getting closer to the control panel in the center. "I wonder what they're doing with all this DNA."

"Whatever it is, it can't be good," Leo said firmly. "Let's shut this place down." He said joining Daiki at the panel, leaning on the controls to get a better look at the hundreds of buttons. "Just be careful not to set off-" Red lights and a loud siren started sounding all around the room. The four other ninjas looked over in horror as Leo had his hand on a button.

"…one of those," Leo sighed irritably, getting himself back up.

"Nice goin', Leo!" Raph snapped. As he readied his sai.

At that moment, the sound of doors sliding open echoed around them. Kraang-droids were starting to fill into the room. Once the room was completely filled the droids stopped.

"The ones who are not authorized by the authority of Kraang to exist in this place, will now be destroyed by Kraang in this place," said a Kraang-droid.

"This day keeps getting better..." Daiki murmured to himself, in obvious sarcasm.

At once the Kraang started to open fire, and the five jumped out of the way. Mikey swung his nunchakus at droids, knocking them down, as he stabbed them with his blades.

Leonardo ran forward as he threw a kunai at a droid. The blade hit the droid in the head, and he kicked it to the ground, stabbing it in the head. Before moving to six others droids next to him.

Miwa raised her tantō, running straight at a group of droids. Slicing them into pieces as she kicked their legs out from under them, and decapitated them.

Daiki swung his bō, knocking out multiple kraang. When a droid came to close to him, he stabbed its chest with his bōs blade, before throwing it off. He caught movement out the corner of his eye, and quickly threw a exploding shuriken. It hit a droid straight in the head. Exploding it into a heap of parts on the floor, before it had attacked Mikey from behind. Making said turtle stare in pure happiness. "Thanks D!"

Raph had been watching Daiki save Mikey, before running forward and smashing some droids himself. Looking down to see a fallen droid grabbing his foot. He pulled his sai out of a downed bot and stabbed the droid straight threw the head. Spewing sparks everywhere.

But before he could get to anymore droids, there was a sound of something really big moving on wheels towards them. They turnt around and saw what looked like a giant Kraang tank rolling in, with a Kraang-droid standing on top of it. "Kraang is now arriving to provide the help that has been requested by Kraang." Said Kraang.

"We're trapped!" said Leo as the five were eventually backed up into a corner.

"No, we're not!" Mikey suddenly shouted enthusiastically, as he leant over to Daiki and put his hand in the boy's leg pocket. Pulling out an exploding shuriken. Launching it straight at the Kraang tank. Despite the many warnings.

"Don't!" Miwa snapped at him.

"No!" Raph yelled.

"Don't do that!" Leonardo shouted.

"Mikey, No!" Daiki exclaimed.

"Highly undesirable outcome," said a Kraang-droid.

But the team, and Kraang, could only watch in horror as the shuriken went straight past their heads and past the droids heads too. Right for the control panel.

The shuriken made a direct hit. Pressing a button, before exploding the entire control. Causing giant cracks all the way up the glass tanker. There were suction sounds coming from all around them. As the color from the DNA tubes emptied. Going upward into the ceiling, and back down into the mutagen tanker. As the last of the DNA made its way into the tanker, and the mutagen started flashing, smoke began to rise around the edges and fill the room. And the cracks grew all around the base.

Three Kraang-droids were suddenly knocked down by something. As long tentacles made their way out of the tank. The Hamatos and Daiki started backing away as a tentacle almost took them out. There was a wet slapping sound as the newly created creature hit the floor, falling out the tank.

"Meow…" It looked like an octopus, cat hybrid, with large eyes that were covered in a gross purple slime.

"Aw…" said Mikey. "He's so cute!"

Suddenly, the head extended upwards, and the eyeballs popped out like that of a snail. Flaps burst out the side of it's head, as the thing opened it's massive mouth, blaring a roar throughout the room.

The five ninjas all had to dive aside as the creature brought down a tentacle where they stood. As the remaining Kraang began to open fire on the mutant. The thing hissed, and swung forward, effortlessly destroying most of the Kraang.

"Woah!" Daiki exclaimed, as he barely ducked under the tentacles.

"How the heck am I gonna name that?" Mikey said, sounding a little irritated.

"Of all the questions Mikey!" Daiki yelled out even more irritated.

The five ninjas all turned around and started running in the opposite direction of the mutant, right towards the Kraang. But the droids weren't aiming for them, but at the creature.

"Hey, look Guys!" Raph said sarcastically. "The Kraang are on our side too!"

"Save it, Raph." Leo snapped.

"I could always leave, you know?" Daiki shouted.

They all ran straight into the Kraang, destroying them if they could, before continuing to run. The mutant slammed into the Kraang's tank, knocking it down. One of its tentacles then shot out and grabbed Raphael, holding him up into the air. Raph pushed against the tentacle and loosened the grip, landing on his feet on the ground.

"Nice try, Octo-punk!" he shouted cockily, before he was punched away by another tentacle.

"No! No," Mikey said quickly. "Call him… Octo-Eyeball Jellybug!" He held his arms out enthusiastically, waiting for a response from Daiki, who was closest to him. But said Foot ninja just stared at him in disbelief.

"Is this what you do? You just name things the entire fight?" Daiki asked in confusion.

"Yes!!" Came the pained replies from Mikey's three siblings.

Mikey sighed. "Ehh… Let's just call him Justin."

Suddenly, Mikey was smacked hard against the wall by a tentacle.

"Mikey!" Raphael shouted, struggling to get to his feet. Only to be knocked back down by the mutant.

The other three had to backflip away as the eyeballs suddenly charged up, sending electric shots were they stood. Justin continued to roar, sweeping his tentacles across the floor and in the air.

Daiki yelped as he barely missed a ray of electricity, flipping backwards only to end up backing into Miwa.

"Daiki!" She shouted at him, only for a tentacle to slam between her and him. But another tentacle smacked them both from behind, sending them flying. Miwa was sent halfway across the room, while Daiki hit the control panel hard, sliding to the ground where he fell unconscious.

Leonardo looked around at his downed siblings. And felt fire rise in him. "All right, Justin." Leo said to himself in frustration.

Justin hissed at him, glaring at the last remaining ninja. Leonardo however, yelled back, charging at the mutant. Dodging the electric shots from the eyeballs, Leo landed a kick to Justin's face. Which stunned him for a bit, while Leo attacked four more times to his face. At the last hit, Leo landed in a crouch, facing away from the octo-mutant, who swung his tentacle, launching the blue clad ninja into the air. But he spun quickly and latched onto the same tentacle, sliding down it with his katana till he was standing three feet away from the mutant, glaring at Justin.

"Hey, Justin!" Leo pointed his katana at the mutant. "This ends now!" Justin hissed, and shot electricity at the turtle in blue once more. The electricity hit the katana blade. And with a shout, Leo connected both hilts of his katanas, allowing the electricity to run through both. As he stabbed one of the katanas into the console.

The build up of electricity sudden made Justin explode. Lighting on fire, as he hissed and crashed through the wall. Causing the whole room to begin to shake and rumble.

"Ha!" Mikey shouted, having got to his feet. "Take that, Justin!" The youngest turtle yelled.

"Is everyone ok?" Leo asked as he helped Raph up.

Miwa stood up and made her way over to her brothers on shaky legs, opening her mouth to reply. But any words were cut off immediately, as the building started to rumble intensely.

The damage done to the tanker early had been worsened by Justin's explosion. And now that the building was literally falling apart. The tanker started to give way, cracking all along the side, then the base. The giant tanker then tilted, as it began falling towards the floor at a very fast pace. And towards the still recovering Daiki. Who only had enough time to look up and see the object falling toward him before he closed his eyes, awaiting the hit.

The glass tanker smashed into hundreds of pieces, sending large and small chunks of glass all around the room. Daiki heard the sound of the crash, but he didn't feel it. He peeled his eyes open partially, only to see he was a couple of feet away from where he was before. And beside him was a green figure, breathing heavily.

Raphael had tackled Daiki aside. And received a very deep gash on his chest from where he had ran to the boy. Said brunette, only had a minor cut to his cheek, and some blood on his side. But he was in too much shock to notice the slight sting of his wounds. He was staring at the red clad turtle. Who was now bleeding greatly from his plastron, leaking heavily onto the floor, and the boy's black uniform. Making the red of his foot insignia look neon compared to the turtle's crimson blood.

"Y-you...saved me?" Daiki stuttered out, his eyes glued to the fresh wound.

"Well, I couldn't just let yah die, could I? Then I'd be as bad as you guys..." Raphael breathed out heavily. Struggling to catch his breath. But he still managed a cocky smirk.

"Why-" Daiki was interpreted when Raphael's siblings suddenly ran up to them in shock.

"Raph! Are you ok?!" Leonardo shouted as he began freaking out. His mother-hen side kicking in as he lifted Raph up and checked him all over.

"Yes, mom. I'm fine." Raph grunted out as he tried in vain to cover his chest. But Leo was already on it, removing his hand and taking bandages to his plastron.

"Hey, Where's D?" Mikey asked in concern. The other three stopped when they realised the boy was gone, leaving a small puddle of blood on the floor where he had been.

Miwa began looking around, searching for the foot boy. "There he is!"

The four looked up to see him stood by the entrance of the room with half a Kraang-droid flung over his shoulders. Daiki turnt to look at Hamatos, before heading into the night. Without saying a word.

Back at the Foot headquarters, Bradford's evening couldn't be going greater. He was physically crying from laughter, pounding his fist on the walkway as Xever's unfinished legs kept kicking him repeatedly in the face.

"Oh, this is too good. I could watch this forever." The dog cried once more, pounding even harder.

"Go-chase-a-mailman!" Xever shouted between the kicks.

Only for all the commotion to die down, as the doors abruptly flung open. As a bloody Daiki entered, with a half broken Kraang-droid draped over his shoulders. Throwing it down in front of the scientist in pink.

"Morikawa, you better have a good excuse as too why you-" The Shredder had to stop himself as he noticed the sheer amount of blood on the boy's clothes.

"Where have you been." The armoured man asked in an unreadable tone.

Daiki was breathing slightly heavier then normal, and could feel his throat getting dry. He tried to take a moment to get his bearings.

"He chased down the turtles to a building, Master." A voice came from behind him, all the occupants in the room turnt to see Tigerclaw enter behind the boy. "He managed to sneak up on them, injuring one in the process." Tigerclaw announced, his feline lips curved into a smile as he looked at the boy. And Daiki realized something at that moment.

Tigerclaw had followed him to the World Genome Project. But he didn't enter?

And having Raphael's blood on him looked good for him right now. As the others presumed he caused the blood. The Tiger seemed to know more then he let on though.

The Shredder stood up, and walked over to the boy. Putting a hand on boy's chest and dragging his fingers across, he looked at the blood now coating his fingers and hummed in a pleased manner. "I see. But as I informed you earlier, Morikawa. I am not interested in this robot nonsense." He stated looking at what Daiki had brought with him.

Daiki pulled out a small device from in his pocket, before turning to the man on the floor. "Dexter. I think this is how they control their robot bodies. Maybe you can use it in some way?"

Stockman caught the part as the boy threw it at him and began pressing buttons, the robot suddenly wired to life. Moving it's arm around. Left, down, right, up. Stockman looked gleefully at the device in his hands. "This is exactly the sort of neural transmission interface I've been trying to develop!"

"Hmm." The Shredder hummed in thought once more. "Their technology may prove useful in our war against the Hamatos after all. Well done, Morikawa." He said putting a heavy hand on the boy's small shoulders. Daiki smirked at the recognition. Before his smile faulted into a grimace.

In Daiki's room that morning, he sat on his chair at a very crowded desk while he finished stitching himself up. A palm sized piece of glass, had somehow made it's way into his side. And thought the wound wasn't too deep, it still stung. Badly.

Once the med kit was away, and the mess tidied up, he grabbed some water and painkillers and sat back on his chair carefully. Breathing in sharply when his back hit the back of the chair. He was ready to just crawl into bed and forgot the next week. To say he was exhausted was an understatement.

A sudden knock at his door caught his attention. As Tigerclaw stood in the doorway with a bowl of what looked like oatmeal. He made his way over to Daiki's desk, without even waiting for a invitation in.

"You must eat, cub. You are nothing but bones." The Tiger said as he placed the bowl on the boy's desk.

"Oh, thanks I guess." Daiki said gratefully, forcing a smile. As he knew well enough that he wasn't going to even touch it.

The tiger put a paw on the desk, leaning against it with all his weight. "To see that you have shed enemy blood, cub. I know you are loyal to your Clan."

Daiki felt uncomfortable in the mutants presence, he truly made him uncomfortable. "Um, thanks-" Daiki was cut off by a giant paw landing on his shoulder, it was heavy and pressing down far to hard to be considered a kind gesture.

"But the next time you go into somewhere willingly with those turtles, you will not leave without their shells in your hands. Understand, cub?"

Tigerclaw stated simply. Glaring at the boy so intensely that the boy couldn't help but gulp.

Before Daiki could even think of a reply, the Tiger stood, and made his way out the room, without looking back. Closing the door roughly behind him.

Once he had his room to himself again, he felt the tension suddenly melt off of him, as he slumped down into his chair. His side burned, and his eyes stung. But he didn't care right now. He couldn't think straight. Was this really the life he'd been dealt? If he wanted to survive, he had to kill?

Didn't that make him as bad as Yoshi?

To hurt the ones who believed he was useful?

The ones who had saved his life?

The one he finally felt he could trust...?
