"Will, Jay, we should talk about your father.."

"Connor, what is it? Will asked.

"I ran some tests on your father; his heart seems to be in bad shape. It explains why he collapsed."

"Bad shape, how bad?" Jay asked.

"It looks like he's going into heart failure."

The two brothers stayed quiet, trying to process the new information about their father. Taking a breath, Will looked at him.

"Can we see him? Is it safe for Luna to be around him?" Will's concern for his father's well-being was evident in his voice.

"Of course, just be cautious with Luna. You don't want to scare her."

"I understand."

Will and Jay left Connor as he went to tend to his other patients. As the brothers walked, Jay looked at his brother.

"Do you think Luna could handle seeing Dad?" Jay asked.

"I'll wait; we should talk to Dad first," Will replied.

"I agree, and we need to figure out what to do."

Soon, they had made it to their father's room, and Pat was propped up in his hospital bed. Tubes and wires were hooked up to him, and he tried to pull them out.

"Woah, dad, what are you doing?" Will asked, going to his father.

"What's it look like? I'm getting out of here," Pat told his son, taking the tubes out.

"No, you're not. You just passed out. Dad, you're going into heart failure. We need to talk about this," Jay said.

"I know; stop fussing."

"Wait, you know?" Will asked, taken back.

"They saw it when I went in for my physical; I didn't want either of you to worry, so I never mentioned it."

"Dad, you can't just hide this stuff from us; we care about you. I want you around for Luna. She loves you. Don't ignore this. Start getting treatment and help so you'll be around for her. If you don't wanna do it for me, Jay, or yourself. Do it for Luna. I want her to have her family, even if it's you and Jay. Please dad"

Pat went quiet when his granddaughter's name was mentioned, then spoke up quietly. "Is she alright? She wasn't hurt at the park, was she?"

"She has a broken arm, but she's fine."

"Can I see her?"

"I'll bring her in if you agree to get treatment."

"Alright, I'll get help."

Will nodded and went to get Luna. After a few minutes, the red-headed Halstead returned with his daughter. Luna broke into a smile when she saw her uncle and grandfather. Her broken arm was cast in bright pink and put in a sling. She had gone to her grandfather, and with some help from Jay, he hoisted her up on the bed, careful of her arm.

"Are you sick, grandpa?" Luna asked, seeing the wires and tube hooked up to her grandfather.

"I am sick, sweetheart, but I'll be alright because I'm going to get help and let the doctors help me," Pat said gently, smiling as he tickled her chin.

Luna giggled. "Grandpa, that tickles."

Pat carefully hugged her. "I love you so much, Luna"

"I love you too, Grandpa."

He looked over her tiny shoulders at his sons. "I'll get help; I want to be around for her."

Will and Jay smiled and nodded. Their father wasn't the best parent, but he was working on being a good grandfather to Luna.
