Chapter 19: The Squirrelanoid Invasion.
Here's Chapter 19!
EDIT: Sorry for reloading this chapter multiple times lmao, My app keeps telling me this page is unavailable? Has this happening to anyone else? ;;
I won't lie, I'm not feeling to great at the moment because of the flu ;v; So this chapter isn't my top 5 haha! But I'm still happy with it nevertheless!
(Sometimes I feel like i write about Donnie to much in this fic? But then i have to remember, it's a Donnie-Centric fic lol)
Also! I may randomly upload chapters every now and then, rather then stick to the first of the month? as I've got a few things happening homewise that would make it a little tricky? But! I promise a chapter every month! maybe even two chapters if I get time! So don't worry!
Now to the reviews:
ProfessorYeti: Thank you again for the review! 3
While the village Daiki lived in is purely made up, it does resemble that of Ine quite a bit! (It was actually one of my inspirations haha) The wide open lakes, and the houses built along and beside the banks was the vision I had in mind, though there are lots of houses just randomly scattered across the forest. It's a small, but close knit community!
Donnie is about Miwa's height, as of now. And yes, I thought since it's been a few months, and he's 15, his growth spurt is starting to kick in now. (Much to the Hamatos despise) But what can I say, those Hamato men all seem to be quite tall... 0.0
Metalhead joining in on their antics was a little detail I'd thought I'd add. Since Donnie made him while he was in the Foot Clan, he's made of far better materials. Which may mean he's made better, or smarter...?
April and Donnie were on a romantic type of date ;3 At least there's no punk kid to try and swoop in while Donnie's on the bench, huh?
I'm glad that the Gnawing feeling is coming across well, considering it's a big part of this fic! (fun fact: one of the first drafts for this fics name, was 'Gnawing Feeling' but my i decided to take a more metaphorical approach c:)
The Shellacne episode, I do have plans on how to tackle Rahzars mutation concerning Donnie...:3 But you'll have to wait for that. As well as the slash and destroy and Casey eps too!
Thank you again for the review!
Notes:
This is based on the 2k12 series.
WARNING: 'Dyslexic Writer lol'.
Chapter 19
On a small dirt path, leading through the forests to outskirts of the village, a warn mother walked along with her five year old child.
She'd walked along this path many times over the last few years she'd lived in the rural village. And yet, everytime she took this scenic route home, it still amazed her how the forest was capable of breathing such beauty into this hardly touched land.
How the mountain's that surrounded the village, protected the lush greenery from any dangers that could be lurking beyond them. And how the few lakes and rivers that kept not only the forest, but the few people living here alive, flowed so peacefully, and calmly through the land together.
The woman took in a calming breath, as she walked along the trail. She couldn't help the chuckle that escaped her, as she watched her young child ahead of her dashing through the tall grass beside the path.
"So, my love." She spoke kindly, "Why did you make a boat?"
The floppy haired child ran back to his mother's side with a soft smile. "Sofu always took me to the lake to fish, but then we had to sell his boat..." the child recalled downheartedly. "And that would of made Sofu sad, Haha."
The woman smiled sympathetically, and ran her hand through the child's messy brown hair.
But the bright smile soon returned to the child's face, "So I made a new boat for him at school!" He held up the little wooden boat proudly, his mahogany eyes almost shining. "Do you think it will float?"
"I believe so my dear," the woman confirmed with no doubts in her mind. "You are a very talented, and thoughtful inventor after all."
"Can I go to the lake to test it?" The little brunet asked excitedly.
The woman frown, and glanced up through the trees to see that the sun was beginning to set behind the mountains. "It is getting a little late for that now." She tells her child kindly. "And, I am sure you have homework to do-"
"But I already finished it!" The little boy whined beside her.
His mother chuckled, and raised a brow sarcastically. "Is that so?" She asked, "What about the extra homework-"
"I've finished that one too!" The brunet fussed.
At this point, the mother rose her brows in actual shock. She thought for a moment, but then remember one last thing. "Have you started your science fair project due in four weeks?"
The child nodded with a serious face. "I finished that last week!"
The woman stopped in her tracks with her mouth slightly agar. Making the five year old beside her break out laughing.
With a reluctant sigh, she smiled at her impossibly intelligent son. "Alright, you may go."
"Yeah!" The child rejoiced, tucking his boat under his arm so that he could show off nine fingers to his mother. "Daiki nine, Haha five!" He bragged, before making his way up the path with a smug look on his face.
But the woman had not lost yet..."But you must ask your Oto-san first." She called to him.
The boy stopped, and pouted sadly, "Oh...there's always a catch..."
The woman walked beside her son, with a smug smile. Showing off six fingers before continuing on with their journey. "Haha six, Daiki eight!"

Donnie began to stir in his sleep. The feeling of an unwanted presence above him made it hard to keep his eyes closed for a moment longer. But he eventually caved, and open one eye, just to survey his room. Only to be met with a large green face staring at him from above.
"Agh!?" He yelped and throw a balled up hand out, punching the other person straight in the jaw.
It wasn't until he was sitting up, and staring at the now groaning orange-clad turtle, that he realized who he had just punched in the face. "Mikey?! What are you doing in here?" He questioned, and pulled the turtle up to his feet.
Mikey frowned as he rubbed his aching jaw, "I came to get you for breakfast, D." He replied innocently.
"Oh...right." Donnie winced with guilt, "Sorry about that."
Mikey waved it off nonchalantly, but was still rubbing his mouth when he asked, "Did you know you talk in your sleep?"
The brunet rose a brow in confusion. "Huh?"
"You talk when your asleep." Mikey said again.
"Um...I didn't know-" Donnie confessed, but he soon had slight panic written on his face. "I didn't say anything weird...did I?"
"Um. No?" Mikey answered. And Donnie blew out a held breath of fear.
"I mean, you kept mentioning a boat?" Mikey added a moment later.
"Oh..." Donnie says simply. His face not really having any emotion to it.
Mikey frowned, and asked. "Was it your grandpa's boat?"
Donnie's fingers began to fidget together as he nodded. Not making eye contact with Mikey.
"You wanna talk about it?" Mikey asked genuinely, and put his hand on the other teen's shoulder.
Donnie smiled reassuringly and placed his hand on Mikey's shell, pushing him, to get him moving. "No, I'm ok. Let's just go to breakfast."
Mikey grinned and held a thumbs up. "No problemo!"

Nightfall came over New York quickly, and with it, came the nessicary darkness to hide the Hamato ninjas. The search for the missing mutagen canisters was afoot, and the teens wasted no time in getting a head start.
Tires squealed across the sidewalks of downtown New York, as Leonardo swerved the Shellraiser up curbs, and down alleyways.
"Take a right." Donnie announced from his seat in the back. But just as Leo turned the wheel right, he yelled, "Go, left! Left!" And Leo swerves the car onto the sidewalk to continue going down the road.
The occupants of the Shellraiser all yelled as the old subway car forced itself on, and back off of the paths. Bumping everyone inside around like pinballs. The leader sighed after narrowly missing a building, and straightened the car back onto the road.
"Um, Donnie, maybe you can tell us before! we pass the street?" Miwa retorted to her genius brother with a glare.
"I'm sorry!" Donnie defends, "It's just that there's still so many mutagen canisters out there, that my tracker is having trouble zeroing in on a single reading- Oh, turn right!"
The Shellraiser then took a right, but at the speed Leo was going, everyone inside whipped right aswell.
"Whoa!" Raph exclaims, "I think I just got shell-lash!"
"AAHHH!!"
The scream from the back of the car stopped the Hamatos, as they turned to see Mikey with his eyes wide in alarm. Only to notice the not so sneakily hid comic book in his hands.
Leo rolled his eyes, and turned his attention back on the road. "Hey, Mikey? You want to stop reading your comics and pay attention to the mission?" He asked rhetorically.
The orange-clad turtle seemed to ignore his older brothers comment, and continued to read with his hands clenching onto the comic in fear, as his eyes skimmed the pages at a mile a minute.
The hothead of the team, snatched the comic from Mikey's distracted hands with a grunt, and began to roll it up.
Youngest turtle's eyes shot up in an angry glare. "Hey! That comic's in mint- Ah!" Raph whipped him around the face with it, "Near mint condition! Don't mess it up!"
Raph scoffed and unfolded the comic, and mentally groaned when he saw the front cover. "Great. Another horror story. Guess who's gonna be up all night again?"
Miwa scoffed, as Donnie shock his head sadly. All four of the teens knew fully well, that Mikey, and scary, don't go together.
The youngest turtle, however, blushed intensely, and began waving his hands around in defense. "What? No. I was up all night 'cause I was..." he thought for a moment, before the lightbulb in his head went off. "Polishing my grappling hook!" He finished with a large grin.
"Right..." Raph mused with crossed arms. "Seriously, Mikey, what are those horror comics good for, other than freaking you out and-"
Donnie's mutagen tracker began to bleep manically. "Got one! Stop here!" The brunet announced with a grin, as Leo put his foot down on the brakes. Sliding the Shellraiser to a sideways stop that shook the others around.
The car doors dinged open, and the ninjas jumped out, following after Donnie once he had slipped a pair of modified goggles onto his head. And flipped them over his eyes. "My ooze specs are picking up a mutagen trail." He called as he saw the hidden mutagen in the shape of tiny footprints, leading off round the corner. "Come on!" He said, pulling out a long grabber stick, and following after the trail.
The teens ended up at the corner, and stayed vigilant as Leo said, "Remember, this could be a trap, so we need to be careful."
And with that, Donnie continued forward, leading the others after the trail only he could see, as the others walked on behind him, watching over all their angles as the brunet guided them down the street.
A crunch from behind, had the eldest three pivoting on the spot defensively, only to see that Mikey, with a guilty smile on his face, and comic book still in his hands, had stepped on a fully bag of popcorn.
"Some ninja." Raph remarked with an eye roll, only to get a slap around the head and disapproving glare from his older sister.
"Guys, over here!" Donnie called. Using his grabbers, he reached under a pile of trash and pulled out a mutagen canister. Though, the container was smashed in the middle, and missing half it's contents. "It's half empty... but one more mutagen canister recovered!" He announced proudly. Only to be interrupted by a terror filled scream a moment later.
The teens turn on Mikey, but soon realise the orange-clad turtle didn't look fearful in the slightest. Said turtle looks up from his comic and shakes his head. "It wasn't me."
And that only concerned the five ninjas further, as a whimpering sounded from the corner beside them.
The Hamatos walk around the side of the building into the cinemas preview area, to see a homeless man cowering against the wall in fear. The man whimpered as a tiny squirrel twitched it's tail at him, watching him with it's beady black eyes.
The Hamatos gathered close by and blinked in confusion as the homeless man only became more concerned with the rodent.
"Why's that dude afraid of a cute, tiny little squirrel?" Raph asked aloud with a chuckle.
And as if on cue, the cute, tiny little squirrel, detached it's bottom jaw and stretched it out to an unnatural size, before it's incredibly long tongue flailed about as it squealed at them all in a deafening pitch.
The Hamatos screamed and grabbed onto one another in fear as the squirrel closed it's jaw back up, and jumped onto the homeless man's chest. Without a seconds hesitation, the squirrel dove straight into the man's mouth, and down his throat. Causing the homeless man to scream one last time, before passing out on the floor.
"Now can I scream in horror?" Mikey questioned abruptly, whilst him, and his siblings all stayed huddled together in terror.
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
Leo and Raph worked together to haul the homeless man back to the Shellraiser, as Donnie continued to carry the half full canister with his grabbers. With Miwa and Mikey following closely after.
"Dudes, this is a terrible idea..." Mikey begins to stress while still reading the horror story, "this is exactly how the alien got onto the ship in my comic book!"
The others groan, and continue on until their outside of the Shellraiser, at which point, Raphael drops the homeless man's legs, leaving Leo to hold the guy up by himself.
"Maybe Mikey's right." Raph agrees, to which the other three shoot looks at him.
"What?"
"I mean, the comic book thing is totally crazy," Raph quickly says, "but I can think of a million other reasons it's a bad idea to take this guy back to the lair!
"Starting with father." Miwa added to Raph's case.
"Exactly!" Raph gestured towards her.
"Guys, that squirrel was clearly a mutant creature, which means this is our fault." Donnie reminded them.
"And our responsibility to fix it." Leo replied, whilst loading the man into the Shellraiser. "Look, I'll deal with-"
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
"Master Splinter!" Leo exclaimed as his father glared him and his siblings down with angering amber eyes. "L-let me explain!"
"Indeed." The rat advised as his eyes seemed to hone in on the man being carried by Miwa and Raph. "Please explain the reason you have brought a complete stranger into our secret, hidden, lair!"
Leo chuckled uncomfortably, and rested a hand on his side. "Oh, you'll- you'll laugh your whiskers off when you hear this one!" He tried to diverge, and his siblings behind him, joined in on fake laughing.
That was until the jade cane of their Master was brought down onto the floor, snapping the teens into straightened postures. Splinter shot his oldest son a long and hard stare, giving the others behind him enough time to run into the lab.
As Miwa and Raph struggled to lumber the heavy man into the lab, Donnie placed the canister in a safe draw, before coming over to the main desk. Which was attached to a table just big enough for the homeless to lay on.
"Careful with the specimen." Donnie called as he made his way over, earning weird looks from Miwa and the boys. "I want to run some tests on him."
Miwa shook her head at her brother, "Donnie, your the only person I know, who can turn something as horrific as this," she gestured towards the unconscious man in her arms, "into a science experiment."
"It's important to get results, Miwa. That way we know exactly what we're dealing with." Donnie remarks professional, "Now, take it easy, guys." He adds as they approach the table. "Easy-"
However, Raphael on the other hand, had other plans. And unceremoniously throw the poor guy onto the table, sending bottles and beakers smashing onto the floor.
"D'oh!" Donnie yelled in frustration as bits of glass flew all over the floor. Brushing the shards aside, Donnie pulled out a magnifying glass and began to throughly examine the unconscious man, whilst the others hung back out of his way. They knew too well that Donnie wasn't to be messed with when he entered his 'Doctor Mode.'
Raph crossed his arms and scowled as he leant against the wall behind him. Unaware that Mikey was slowly making his way over to him.
"So, want to guess the first thing the crew did when they brought the guy back on the spaceship in my comic?" Mikey asked, and before an answer could be said, he shoved the comic infront of Raph's face so he was forced to see the comic panel that looked strangely identical to Donnie examining the guy in front of him.
Raph reached his hand forwards and grabbed the book, scrunching it up, and throwing it down in disgust. "Enough with the comic already! You're makin' me loopy."
Mikey gasped, and threw his hands against his head as Raph wrecked his comic. "Great! Now it went from 'near mint' to 'totally messed up'!"
It was at this point, that Leo finally made his reappearance, making his way into the lab to meet with the others. "Okay, we're cool, but let's try to get this guy out of here before Master Splinter is done meditating." He warned the others. "Where are we at, Donnie?"
Metalhead was currently scanning the man with his eyes, bleeping a short code to let Donnie know he was done. The brunet then connected a wire from Metalhead's head, into his laptop. "Running an internal scan right now to see if-" he paused as the image loaded on his screen, and to their horror, the squirrel was still inside the man. "Yep, still in there."
Miwa, Leo and Mikey all quickly gathered around him with frowns on their faces, as Raph sat back near the homeless guy eating some leftover popcorn Mikey had brought back.
"Whoa." Leo muttered as the scan showed something truly disturbing.
"Wait... Does it have two heads?" Mikey exclaimed in awe.
"Did he swallow another one before we found him or something?" Miwa added as they all moved in closer to the scan.
Raph rolled his eyes, and threw a piece of popcorn into his mouth. "All right, guys. If you need me, I'll be beating Leo's high score in pinball." He started to make his way out of the lab, just as the homeless man seemingly sprang back to life, making them all jump.
"Pink eye, red eye! The ham went flying! Whoo-whoo!" The bearded man yelled as he sat up.
Leo raised a brow in confusion. "I think that freaky squirrel made him a little nutty?"
"Dudes, I got this." Mikey declared as he slowly slid his way over to the man. "I can totally translate crazy."
"Gimme a hootenanny!" The man stated, before his words slowly became a mush of letters and words thrown together.
Mikey leaned in closer and began to translate, "He's saying, 'The squirrel licked some ooze and transformed into a mutant. It's been chasing me for days now, but I'm totally okay.'"
"If by 'Okay', you mean 'Totally insane'!" Raph barked back at his brother.
"Well, at least no one will believe a crazy guy if he talks about giant ninja turtles living in a sewer." Leo sighed.
All of sudden the man began to violently gag and twist in pain, throwing himself forward, were he then vomited up the squirrel. But not just one...
The Hamatos screamed out in horror and disgust. As the two mutant squirrels start to squeal at them from across the room, before making their way over to the now discarded popcorn bag.
"This- this is unprecedented!" Donnie announces in pure shock. "The squirrels replicate inside a host! They divided like a single-celled organism."
Mikey gasps and holds up his book, "That's exactly what happened in my comic!" He then frowns for a moment, "Well, not exactly. They exploded out of the dude's butt."
"Agh!" The homeless screamed as he flung himself upright, and off the table. "Leprechauns!" The scared man then proceeded to run out of the lab with his hands flailing above him.
"I'll show our friend to the door!" Raph says, chasing after the man out of the door.
A few crashes and bangs sounded from outside the lab, while the others slowly moved their attention back to the squirrels currently eating Raph's spilt popcorn.
Metalhead bleeped in a concerned manner, before passing Donnie the mutagen tracker, which was currently going haywire. The brunet's eyes widened as he addressed the others. "We need to catch them. They're emitting dangerous amounts of energy!"
The leader nodded. "Move very slowly. We don't want to startle 'em." He lent closer to the rodents with both hands drawn. "Steady...steady..."
Without warning, the squirrels stopped munching the forgotten popcorn and detached their jaws to hiss at him.
"Ahhhh!" Leo yelled and backed up slightly. "Get 'em!" Before launching right at them.
The teens started to give chase, running after the tiny mutants around the lab. Objects clattered and flew around the place as the ninjas threw themselves at the rodents, knocking into the desks, drawers and cupboards alike.
"Hey! Watch my stuff!" Donnie scolded, but none of the others payed him any attention as they continued to trash the place.
"I got you, little freak!" Mikey declared as he followed one towards the door, while Miwa and Leo tagged together and chased the other the same way.
Which unfortunately happened to be the same moment Raphael came back, dusting his hands off at a job well done. "Well, our friend's gone-" he joked, but was soon stopped in his tracks. "But we still have plenty of crazy."
"There they go!" Miwa yelled as she and her three other brothers all raced to the door. Knocking Raphael backwards into the living area as they collided in the doorway.
Miwa and the two youngest teens continued to chase them around the pit, as Leo got to his feet and ran for the turnstiles. "Quick! Help me seal off the lair. We can't let 'em escape!" He ordered.
The hothead sighed and got moving, "Well, I don't exactly want 'em in here with us!"
"Get back here you little nut lover!" Mikey yelled before jumping up on his skateboard and using it to gain speed on the mutant squirrel. He reached out to grab it, only to hit a pipe embedded in the floor, sending him flying forwards.
The Kunoichi of the group grabbed hold of the squirrel fleeing from Michelangelo's skateboard, only to have said turtle fly straight into her. Knocking the rodent free from her grasp.
Donnie was down in the pit with his bō out, hoping to trick the squirrel into climbing into a crate beside him. But the beady eyed creature climbed onto his staff instead, making him twirl it a few times to try and get the squirrel off.
But the squirrel opened it's jaw and squealed at him, begining to crawl up his staff towards his face, or more accurately, his mouth. He yelled in shock, and chucked his bō away.
Just as Leonardo stood above one of the unsuspecting rodents with a cardboard box, the bō staff pushes the box perfectly out of his hands. So when he looks up to see where the box went, he instead, gets a face full of mutant squirrel from Donnie's bō.
"Get off!" Leo shouted in a fur-filled muffled scream, dancing around like crazy trying to pry the rodent from his face.
The hilt of Miwa's tantō slammed into the squirrel's back, sending it flying off Leo's face and into the pit.
Leo stood dizzy for a moment as he turned his mask the right way around. "Thanks..."
"No problem." Miwa smirked.
"Not my room!"
The two oldest teens watched as Mikey shouted after the disappearing rodent. Charging into his room, with Raph close behind him.
"The dojo!" Donnie shouted from beside them, and raced his way over to said room, with the eldest two following after.
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
Inside the dojo, all the lights were off and candles unlit, with the only light in the room being the moonlight shining through the grates above the tree.
The great ninja Master sat still in the centre of the room, in a lotus position with both hands locked together. His face was drawn in deep concentration, as he took shallow breaths.
The mutant rat was so far into his meditation, that he hadn't notice the tiny patter of feet crossing the tatami mats, and stopping just in front of him. Nor did he notice the three horrified looking teens peering in through the doorway behind him.
Donnie placed a hand on his head in shock, as he barely whispered out, "Sensei's in a deep trance!"
"Shh!" Leo and Miwa hushed as they both covered his mouth.
"The last thing we need, is Splinter waking up!" Miwa added quietly.
Leo nodded beside her and released Donnie's mouth, "Full ninja mode." He ordered, to which the other two nodded. And slowly but surely, the teens snuck their way into the dojo.
Miwa stayed behind Splinter, while Leo and Donnie went round the sides of him. Until the two were face to face with the squirrel and had their backs to Splinter.
They crouched down slowly toward the rodent and jumped at the same time to grab it. But the squirrel ran through the small gap that was made when the two teens jumped, and scurried away, leaving the two boy's to smack their heads together as they fell to the ground.
Miwa cringed at the sound, as the squirrel came running towards her. She bent down and went to snatch it up, only for the small mutant to run straight through her legs, and up the tree. Where it sat on a branch, almost mockingly, above Splinter.
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
Piles of pizza boxes, Chinese takeaway, and discarded dishes were the last thing Raph expected to find when he came running into Mikey's room looking for the squirrel.
The hothead closed the door behind him to ensure the rodent wouldn't sneak passed them, and physically grimaced as he turned around.
"Jeez, Mikey. When's the last time you cleaned?" He questioned rhetorically, only to spot something beside him, and smirk. "And since when did you start wearing tighty-whities?" He picked up said underwear with the tip of his sai.
Michelangelo shot up from his place on the floor with wide eyes and snatched his underwear from the weapons end. "That, my friend, is a story for another day." He answers mysterious and hugs the undies to his plastron.
"Let's just focus on the squirrels, comprende?" Mikey adds, and throws his undies into a corner out of the way. Sending a few boxes of pizza sliding off a mountain of trash as the underwear hit them.
"Oh, sweet. Awesome idea." The freckled turtle announced as he opened the box up and grabbed one of the surprisingly still good pizza slices up.
"I just impressed myself." Mikey claims and takes a running jump onto his bed, before bouncing up and down with the pizza on his head. "Here, squirrely, squirrely squirrel! Come get it!"
Raph rolls his eyes at his younger brothers antics, and reaches down for a slice of pizza. He sniffs it to make sure it's appearance wasn't misleading, before taking a bite. "Here you go, squirrel. Have a tiny bite." Raph calls, taking another bite out of the slice. "Where is that little sucker?"
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
The squirrel remained still in the tree above Splinter, watching him with it's beady black eyes.
The smaller mutant was so busy, curiously watching the larger rodent beneath it, that it failed to see what was happening behind him.
The three teens poked their heads around the tree, before slinking back down. Where Miwa and Donnie got down on one knee and rested their hands on them. Ready to take Leonardo's weight.
The leader climbed onto their hands, with a single foot supported by one of the human teens, and crouched as they lifted him up.
The two humans winced under his weight, and lifted him higher, until all three teens nodded, and the two below launched their hands upwards. Sending Leo straight toward the squirrel.
As Leo was in the air, the squirrel suddenly jumped off the branch, taking a nose dive straight for the rat below. Only for Leo to grab it mere seconds away from Splinter's head, and land a good few meters away with a victorious smile.
The squirrel on the other hand, wasn't as pleased, and let off a abruptly squealing noise that blared through the room.
"What is going on in here!?" Splinter snaps awake with focused amber eyes drawn to his oldest son. "I was in a deep meditative trance, trying to block out your constant noise, and-" the rat noticed his son holding something, and blinked, "Is that a chipmunk?"
Leo shot up with the rodent still in his hands. "Uh, it's, um, a squirrel, Sensei." He corrects with a nervous chuckle. "A dangerous mutant squirrel that reproduces inside stomachs."
Splinter was about to question his son further, when all of a sudden, the small mutant wiggles it's way free from Leo's hand and dives to the floor.
The turtle dove for it, only for the squirrel to jump up, and land on his shell, before bolting off towards the doorway.
"I should have been in a deeper trance..." Splinter sighs regrettably, and stands up.
The rat witnesses as Miwa and Donnie both dive for the squirrel, only to miss it as well, giving the little creature a clear shot straight to the doorway.
Splinter jumps up, and throws his foot down on a crate nearby, sending it into the air where he smacked it back down again with his cane.
The crate came down on top of the squirrel, which squeaked and climbed around inside of it, trying to escape. But with the jade cane placed on top of the crate as well, the squirrel was now well and truly trapped.
"You will be safe here for a short time, my distant cousin," Splinter assures the smaller mutant, his sensitive ears didn't miss the way Donnie coughed slightly at his comment. "Until we can find out more about you."
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
Mikey continued to bounce on his bed merrily, though he was now wearing his pizza sauce stained underwear. "This pizza is the best. Ha!" He rejoiced and flopped down onto his bed. He rolled his head to the side, where Raph was sat next to him, with a content smile on his face. "Four-day-old pepperoni, jelly bean, and maple syrup." Mikey recalled easily, as Raph shook his head.
"Wait. What were we supposed to be doing again?" Mikey asked confused. But his question was soon answered when the two turtles heard a strange chattering sound coming from the shelves above them.
The many action figures in the box like shelf shuffled about as a brown and irritated rodent poked it's head out from between two of them.
"The squirrel!" Raph barked, "There you are!" He jumped up onto the bed, and Mikey's plastron, and began to stab his sai continuously into the mass collection of action figures.
"Raph!" Mikey wined as Raphael pulled his sai back out with an impaled toy on the end. "That was my limited edition Action-Kick Unicorn Man!"
The hothead shook the figure off his weapon and scoped the room out, until he spotted the squirrel sniffing the pizza on the floor. "There's the little creepster!" He yelled, and rolled off of the bed and onto the floor. Where he began to swing his sai around like crazy.
Raph drove his sai down, only for the rodent to jump up onto his arm. He slashed at it, only for it to jump and run across his arm and up his sai, where the squirrel then jumped onto his other arm.
The smaller mutant scurried up his arm and to his shoulder in a mere second. Moving so fast, that Raph was unable to stop it when it reached his mouth, and began to crawl it's way through his mouth and down into his stomach.
"RAPHHH!!" Mikey screamed in terror, having witnessed everything.
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
"It's in my guts!" Raphael yelled out, struggling against the restraints placed on him. "I can feel it in there, munching on that popcorn I ate!" He yelled even louder, trying to kick out, while strapped to the table in the lab.
Donnie placed his makeshift stethoscope on Raph's chest to try and listen to the activity inside of him, but the turtle refused to stay still.
"It's freakin' me out, man!!" Raph screamed in terror, throwing himself up, until Donnie put the plunger-like end of the stethoscope onto his mouth, while Miwa and Leo forced him back down.
"Okay, you gotta stop with the 'this'," Donnie stated annoyed, signing a chatting mouth with his hand. "Because I can't hear what's going on inside your intestines."
"Oh, I'll tell you what's going on in there." Mikey declared grimly, and opened his comic book back up. "Let me see. Oh, yeah. Right now the mutant squirrel is probably secreting a mucus into your stomach lining so that when it multiplies-"
"Eww!" The others called out in unison.
"Mikey, not helping." Donnie reprimanded, and turnt back to Raph with a grim look. "Though probably ninety-eight percent accurate..."
Raph's emerald eyes widened at Donnie's comment. "Get 'em out, get 'em out, get em out!!"
Donnie placed the stethoscope back onto Raph's shell and sighed. "Just as I thought... We need to perform surgery, stat!" Donnie then moved aside and called, "Nurse?"
To which Mikey stepped up in front of him with a hand held saw. He grabbed the tiny handle and began to crank it, bringing the saw to life with a terrifying buzzing noise. Where Mikey began to lower it down towards Raph's plastron.
"Let me out of here!" Raph screams fearfully, only for the buzzing to stop and the other four teens laughter to replace it.
"Ha! Fooled you!" Mikey announced while holding his stomach.
Raph's restraints came lose, and he narrowed his eyes on his little brothers. "Why you, you, you!-" his words were cut off by his hand involuntarily pulling up to his mouth, as he hunched over making disturbing gagging noises.
The four teens back away from him as he continued to lurch forwards.
"Raph, are you-" Donnie stated fearfully, and glanced to Mikey beside him who nodded while reading his comic.
"Bros, brace for grossness." Mikey pre-warned them all as Raphael lurched forwards once more, before vomiting up two mutant squirrels.
Said squirrels rolled to a stop, before splitting their jaws and hissing at the ninjas, triggering the lights and all other electronics in the lab to begin flashing.
"Uh, Donnie! Donnie! Some sciencey stuff would be a big help right now!" Leo shouted in panic.
"Your guess is as good as mine!" Donnie shouted back, as the lights shut off permanently.
The still squealing squirrels began to writhe around in pain as their eyes and bodies began to glow a toxic green colour .
Mikey used the creatures radioactive light to read the rest of his comic. "Glowing! Glowing's bad! Glowing is real bad!"
The doors to the lab flew open as Splinter stood concerned in the doorway. "I see it's happening here as well." He stated bluntly.
"These things are putting out a crazy energy signature!" Donnie exclaimed. "It's messing with my analyzer!"
The rodents hissed once more, and bolted into living area, where only the a faint green glow of the squirrels could be seen from within the lab.
Keeping a close eye on his device, Donnie followed after the squirrels, with the rest of the teens and Splinter behind him.
"We're doomed! Doomed, I tell you!" Mikey cried out dramatically, even dropping to his knees for added effect.
"Come on!" Miwa scowled as she dragged him by his bandana tails into the living room.
The lair was in complete darkness due to the black out, making it difficult for the turtles to see, near to impossible for Miwa and Donnie to see, and only slightly a challenge for Splinter's sensitive eyes. Meaning, the ninjas would have to rely on their skills, and the occasional glow of the passing rodents.
"Split up and search each room." Splinter ordered.
"Split up?!" Mikey questioned, "Clearly you don't read comics either, Sensei! 'Cause splitting up is the-"
"Silence." Splinter scolded calmly. "You are trained warriors. We will find these creatures. Now." And with that, the rat Master left to check the dojo.
Once their Sensei had left, the others slowly began to disperse.
"Split up to search in the dark for multiplying mutants." Raph stated rhetorically, "Could we pick a more cliché way to get eaten?"
"One of us could twist our ankle," Donnie replied, while listing off 'ways to get eaten' on his fingers, "or our T-phones could die or-"
"Okay, move!" Raph snapped, and sent Donnie falling forwards into the darkness.
With the talkative nerb out of his way, Raphael pulled out his sais and began to slow stalk towards the bedrooms.
Donnie used his tracker, and checked his lab for any signs, while Leonardo took the broken staircase, just above the pit.
Miwa checked the kitchen out as Splinter was covering the dojo, leaving Mikey to check out the bedrooms.
The orange-clad turtle went over to check his room first, to make sure the critters didn't hijack his toy collection a second time that night. But with the room still in darkness, and everything where it was meant to be, the turtle confirmed he had no intruders, and closed the door.
Mikey began to back away from his door, when he suddenly bumped into a hard surface with his shell. He screamed, as Raph screamed too.
"What are you doing?" Raph snapped at him angrily, "I told you I'd check the bedrooms!"
Mikey thought for a moment, and couldn't recall Raph saying such a thing, but shrugged and smile nervously anyway. "I thought you'd need back up?"
An echoey squeal hissed throughout the lair.
Mikey gulped, and moved closer to his brother. Oblivious to the swooshing tail that disappeared towards the pipes above. "There was a sound just like that in my comic when the baby aliens transformed into giant alienoids!"
"Wait, you read it in a comic." Raph questioned, "How can it sound the same?"
A trail of slimy green saliva fell from the roof above them, as well as a reddish, purple tail, which looked as if it was completely made of flesh rather than fur.
"Sweet mother of mutations..." Raph muttered in fear as he and Mikey began to back away in fear.
Mikey's blue eyes went wide as the squirrel's elongated green glowing head turnt to glare at him. "They've turned into...into Squirrelanoids!" He yelled in terror.
The newly named Squirrelanoid reared it's head back and screeched at the two mutants below it. Around the lair, Michelangelo and Raphael's screams could be heard, alerting the others.
Leo jumped down from the staircase, landing next to the waterway where Miwa had gathered.
At the same time, Donnie came out of his lab with his tracker going frantic. "Oh, no! they're here!" He yelled. Only for a Squirrelanoid to launch itself at him from behind, sending him and the giant mutant squirrel into the pit.
Miwa and Leo begin to charge after them to help Donnie, but end up getting slammed backwards by another mutant squirrel which attacked from behind.
"Whoa! They're gonna brain-suck us!" Mikey shrieks as the Squirrelanoid chases him and Raph into the living area. It uses it's clawed fingers to knock Raph into his brother, sending the two turtles into the pit with the other three teens.
The three Squirrelanoids hiss, pulling out their tongues, which have heads of their own, before charging at the scared teens below.
The ninjas cower as they get closer, only for a blur brown and maroon to block their vision. As Splinter pulls out his jade cane and slams it across the three mutant squirrel's faces.
He twirled his staff, and prepares himself as the three come at him once more. But Splinter is easily able to defeat them. Knocking them away with a single hit of his cane, the rat Master scares the squirrel mutants away. Where they run over to the dojo, and jump down, into the waterway below.
The teens join their Sensei's side and gasp. "The sewers lead to the surface!" Leo shouts in realization, "If those things get out-"
"Go then, quickly!" Splinter instructs, "I will stay to defend the lair, in case the beasts double back."
Mikey whimpers and holds his sister's arm for comfort. "Which means we have to go after them alone? In the dark sewer? Without you?"
Splinter stood tall above his young disciples, and firmed his features. "Who among you wants to prove you are the bravest? The strongest of will? The worthiest of ninjas?"
The five teens look to each other unsurely, and all nod with determined faces.

The pitch black sewer had little to no light from the surface, meaning the tunnels themselves, were almost impossible to see in.
A single small shadow appeared on the walls, as the figure trudged down the tunnel.
The metallic clanking rang out, as the little turtle bot made his way through the tunnel system. Stopping occasionally to do a once over of the area he was in, before moving on.
Back home in the lair, the five teens sat around the television, as Donnie used a controller to direct Metalhead through the labyrinth of tunnels.
And close behind the teens, Splinter stood watching the tv.
Donnie turned to face the rat with a smug expression. "Master Splinter, I'd say there's some kind of lesson here like, I don't know, 'brains over bravery' or something?"
Splinter raised a brow, and turned his head away. "I'd say the 'something' part is most accurate."
Donnie scowled, and went back to directing Metalhead, as the oldest three siblings snickered beside him.
Mikey sat right next to Donnie, with his comic book out, comparing the screen to the panels in the book. "Uh, I'm not gonna say this happened in my comic, but this happened in my comic!" He warned cautiously.
A loud screeching came from the tv at that second, making all the teens flinch and look at the screen.
"What was that?" Raph asked aloud. And Donnie turned Metalhead to face down one of the tunnels.
At the end of the tunnel, the fleshy tail of a Squirrelanoid could be seen. "There's one." Leo pointed out, and Donnie zoomed in on it.
The teens all slowly approached the screen with wide eyes. Even Splinter appeared over Donnie's shoulder to take a closer look. But as they did, a Squirrelanoid jumped down from above and snapped it's jaws at Metalhead, cutting the screen off for a second.
"Metalhead!!" Donnie screamed, making the other Hamatos jump. The video reappeared, showing a now decapitated Metalhead stumbling around blindly, before dropping to his knees, and falling to the floor. And with that, the video went static.
"Page 33. Oh, man!" Mikey shrieks as he scans his comic book.
The others sit in slight horror as the static image continues to fizz on the screen.
Donnie threw himself at the tv with hurt eyes, and pounded a fist on the screen. "Don't worry, little pal. I'll make you all better!"
As Donnie mourned his robot, Splinter stood back up behind the teens with a smug look. "I do not want to say I was right, but I was right."

With no other choice, the five teens armed themselves with their weapons and torches, and left the safety of the lair. Venturing into the now pitch black tunnels of the sewer to stop the Squirrelanoids from reaching the surface.
As the five trudged onward through one of the tunnels, Raph mulled over a thought in his head. "Just throwing this out there." He says, "What are we supposed to do when we find these Squirrelanoid monsters?"
The two humans of the group and Leo continue to move on in silence, but were really thinking the same thing.
It was Mikey who answered him, when he appeared at his immediate older brothers side with his comic book in hand. "Don't worry. They'll find us." The turtle answered sinisterly.
Raphael picked his pace up a notch, and rolled his eyes. "You always know just the right thing to say."
Once the ninjas had reached the end of the tunnel, they found themselves at a dead end. With only two tunnels leading off to their left and right, and the way they had just come as their only options.
Luckily, at that moment, Donnie's tracker began going off again. "I'm picking up strong readings from these two tunnels!-" he announced, only to pivot round and frown. "And the one we just came down."
"Then we split up." Leo ordered, making his way to the front of the group.
"Again?" Mikey argues. "Didn't you guys get-"
Leo puts his hand up. "But this time in teams, okay?"
Mikey pouts at his brother. "It's still splitting up! We're toast! Game over, man! Game. Over!"
Leo rolls his eyes and faces the others. "I'll go on ahead. Raph and-"
"Hold on a second, Leo." The Kunoichi of the group interrupts from beside him. "Why are you going alone?" Miwa states, pointing an accusing finger at him.
"Because I'm the leader, Miwa." Leo snapped back, "And I say you go with Raph."
"Alright." Miwa shrugged. "But, I'm the oldest, and I say I'm going this way."
"Yeah...well...!" Leo struggled to think of a reason for a moment, "Being leader out ranks age!" He shouted defensively, almost childishly.
His sister scoffed, and folded her arms. "That the best you can come up with?"
"Ugh! Fine!" The leader throws his hands out in annoyance, before heading to the left tunnel and jumping up.
"Oh snap!" Mikey whispered to Donnie and Raph next to him.
"Miwa go that way!" Leo grunted out, turning around and making his way down the tunnel. "This way, Donnie."
Miwa smirked at her success and saluted her brothers off as she made her way back. While Donnie shrugged his shoulders, and followed after Leo.
"Sure, you take the guy with the tracking device." Raph comments sarcastically before turning down the other tunnel. "Come on, Mikey."

Miwa proceeded back through the tunnel with her torch, making sure to double check the side passages they had walked by earlier.
As she made her way towards one particular tunnel, she couldn't help but catch the familiar chattering noise, echoing from further in. She trudged her way through the water, and towards the end of the passage, where the squealing only seemed to get louder, and closer...
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
As the two turtles walked through the tunnels, they eventually ended up at a large open area used for drainage. Where Raph begins to scout out the area with his torch, as Mikey stays practically glued to his side.
"So, uh," Raph began, "how did they defeat the aliens in your comic book?"
Mikey sent Raph a smug look, "Oh, so now you want to know." He taunted, but nevertheless, he explained. "Well, first the aliens picked off the crew in the dark, one-by-one, sucking their faces off until there was only one remaining survivor."
Raph stood still with a horrified expression written on his face. "Sorry I asked." Just then, a chatter of a squirrel sounded from nearby. "Wait." Raph says, standing above the grates leading to another tunnel. "Did you hear that?"
TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT TMNT
Donnie's tracker held a steady pace, which would occasionally pick up, before dropping back down again.
The brunet looked through the smaller pipes and holes in the tunnel walls as the sound of a squirrel sounded around them. "Did you here that?"
"Yeah." Leo confirmed, shining his torch forwards. "Yeah, I heard it."
A squeal from up ahead echoed quietly. "Over there." Leo states, and Donnie moves along with his tracker. The beeping got louder and more frequent.
A squeak from behind made the two pivot round to face a ladder going towards the surface. But nothing out of the ordinary. "I don't see anything." Leo says, but he kept his guard up. Something was near them, and he could feel it...
"Gah!?"
Leo whipped around to see that the Squirrelanoid had been above them the entire time. It's long, slimy, fleshy hands, had grabbed Donnie around the face and pulled him upwards.
"Donnie!" Leo yelled, and grabbed his disappearing brothers legs. He placed his feet on the wall and pulled him and Donnie backwards, until the mutant squirrel released it's grasp.
The two teens were quick to get back up and pull out their weapons as the Squirrelanoid landed in front of them with a snarl.
"Heads or tails?" Leo asked.
"Heads!" Donnie yelled and charged forward. He leapt into the air and twirled his bō, bringing it down on the squirrel's head, knocking it to the floor. He placed his boot on the squirrel's chest and stood above it, ready to hit the mutant in the head, only for it's tail to slam him into the wall beside them.
The leader got his swords ready, and made to strike, when he noticed a green glow coming from the other end of the tunnel.
"Oh, no." Leo muttered.
"Move you idiots!" Miwa shouted as she ran from the other passage way, followed extremely close by a Squirrelanoid on the prowl. She sprinted forwards and slammed her foot into the downed Squirrelanoids head, giving Donnie and Leo enough time to follow her away.
"Donnie, move! Move!" Leo shouted, and the two darted after Miwa, with the Squirrelanoids hot on their trail.
The three teens bolted blindly into the drainage area of the sewers, unaware of two approaching mutants from infront of them, until they crashed into them. All five Hamato ninjas crashed onto the dirt pile floor in a heap. As the Squirrelanoids began to circle their trapped prey.
"They'll crack our shells like nuts!" Mikey cried fearfully.
"Then we might as well go down in a blaze o' glory!" Raph snapped, and with a battle cry, they all charged the mutant squirrels.
The ninjas fought against the Squirrelanoids with all they had, but alien like mutants had speed and strength on their side. And soon, the five teens were surrounded, huddled together and completely at a loss.
"All right, Mikey, I'm in." Raph admitted reluctantly. "How does the sole survivor beat the aliens?"
Mikey beamed with excitement, totally forgetting that they were about to be eaten alive. "It was so awesome!" He smiled, "He baited the alien into an airlock, and then he- Ooh!" He broke his words off as he suddenly ran ahead and flipped up the corner of the drainage area. Before disappearing out of his siblings sight.
"Did he just bail on us?" Raph exclaimed in disbelief.
"I think he's got a plan." Leo answered back, pulling his katanas back out.
The Squirrelanoids charged once more, but this time, instead of fighting back, the teens merely kept them busy. Awaiting their orange-clad brother, and hopefully, his plan.
"He better have a plan!" Miwa huffed as she kicked one of the squirrels square in the head, "Or else we're all as good as-"
"Popcorn?" Donnie shouted.
"Popcorn?" Miwa questioned back.
The Squirrelanoids stopped in their tracks and sniffed the air. Their heads shot to the side where Mikey stood with a bag of popcorn.
"Yoo-hoo, glow heads!" The freckled turtle called playfully, reaching into the bag, and taking a big mouthful of the sweet and salted treat. "Mmm! Want some?" He asked.
The squirrel mutants screeched, and scampered over one another in an attempt to get to Mikey first.
"Mikey has a plan!" Raph states in shock.
The orange-clad turtle screamed while darting down the tunnels as fast as he could, with the three snarling mutants closing in behind him.
Once he finally reached the room he had been searching for, he entered and leapt forwards, straight over a pool of water, landing safely to the side.
A screech behind him made him turn to see the Squirrelanoids barging into one another to try and get into the room.
"Um, come and get it!" Mikey called out nervously, silently praying that his plan would work. He tossed the popcorn bag into the murky water, and watched as it slowly began to sink.
One of the Squirrelanoids shrieked, and dove right into the pool after the popcorn, soon followed by the other two. Which alerted Mikey to run towards the rust covered valve next to him, to enact the second part of his plan.
With a twist of the knob, the giant doorway at the bottom of the pool opened up, creating a strong whirlpool that had the strength to suck the screeching Squirrelanoids down into the depths of the septic tanks below.
"Booyakasha!" Mikey fist pumped the air in victory, and whirled around to leave.
But as he did, one of the long tongues of the Squirrelanoids flew out of the pool and wrapped itself around Mikey's ankle. Yanking him down screaming, into the water beneath.
Once Mikey had hit the water, he swam back up, and struggled for air as the whirlpool tried to pull him under, and the Squirrelanoid tried to wrap it's tongue around his throat.
The youngest turtle barely had enough time to take in a final breath as he was pulled underneath the water again. He struggled and fought, but he wasn't strong enough to pry the tongue off of him.
He could only watch as the surface above seemed to get further and further away with every tug he felt on his neck.
Just as the air began to leave Mikey's crushed throat, he felt a large hand had firmly clasped hold of his own. While a sai beside his head, pulled off the rope like tongue away from his neck.
Mikey felt how the air suddenly hit his face, as he was pulled out of the water. Taking in large gasps of air, he glanced upwards to his rescuers. Seeing Miwa and Donnie holding Leo's legs from above, as Leo held Raph's legs.
"I gotcha!" Raph sighed in relief.
"We all do!" Leo confirmed from above.
Mikey smiled up towards his family weakly, as Miwa and Donnie began the painful task of pulling up three human sized mutant turtles.
Before anything else could be done though, one of the Squirrelanoids burst free from the water with a screech, propelling itself at Mikey. The freckled turtle looked back in fear as the creatures claws reached for him.
But before it could get hold of him, Raphael pulled out a few shurikens from his belt, and threw them straight at the Squirrelanoid's head.
The shurikens stuck into the creatures head, and it fell back down with pain filled shriek, into the murky waters below where it soon vanished completely.
A moment later, and Donnie and Miwa had successfully pulled Mikey and the others back up from the now empty pool.
"Phew!" Leo sighed once everyone was safe on solid ground. "The septic tanks down below should hold those creeps."
"At least until I can figure out a retro-mutagen to turn 'em back..." added Donnie determinedly.
Raph threw an arm over Mikey's shoulder, "I'm glad you didn't get flushed, little brother."
"You and me both, bro." Mikey agreed with a grin.

With a quick fix here and there, Donnie managed to get the power supply back online in the lair. So that when the teens all sat down around the pit for celebratory pizza, there was a comforting light, rather than the unsettling darkness.
"I hate to admit it," Raph states in an upbeat voice. "But it looks like all of Mikey's comic book reading paid off."
Leo nods and rubs Mikey's head. "And that was pretty clever to realize that Squirrelanoids were attracted to the scent of food."
"Actually that was pretty obvious," Donnie said from beside him, as he was looking over Metalhead's circuitry. He poked a wire which made a loud fizzing and put his screwdriver down with a concerned look. "I can't believeIdidn't think of it."
Mikey smirks, "Not everyone can be the brains of the outfit." He licks his thumb smugly, and turns to the next page in his comic.
"Well, all in all, I'd say that was a successful night?" Miwa added casually, reading through the comic that Mikey had been referring too the whole night. "We finally got some mutagen, and we stopped crazy alien mutant squirrels from invading at the same time."
It was then, that Splinter entered the room. Stroking his beard thoughtfully, "And have any of you considered, what if one of those creatures manages to escape?"
Raph shrugged it off with a cocky smile to match. "No worries, Sensei. Those giant nut-loving freaks are gone for good."
Mikey gives his siblings an uncertain look, "Um, actually a bunch of sequel comics came out." He announced, holding up one of said comics, "The aliens come back..."

When the early morning hours came around, the Hamatos had long split off to do their own things.
Leonardo went to his room for a few hours of meditation before morning practice, while Mikey took the next few hours alone to sleep.
Though his eventual nightmares were quick to follow.
As Mikey had done for him, so many nights before, Donnie had gotten up and calmed Mikey down, listening to his bad dreams as he rubbed circles on his shell. The brunet also volunteered to go and get him a glass of water from the kitchen.
Donnie walked by the lightly lite dojo, where Miwa and Splinter seemed to be chatting quietly and having tea together. He decided it best not to interrupt the two, and continue on to the kitchen.
As he entered, he was met with Raphael slumped over on one of the stolls at the table, with his head resting in his crossed arms while giving Spike his morning lettuce.
The two nodded to each other as Donnie made his way over to the cupboard which kept the glasses.
"Couldn't sleep?" Raph asked as he eyed the human teen walking past.
Donnie shook his head, "No," He answered simply, "Mikey got-"
"Got nightmares from the comic?" Raph finished for him with a knowing smirk.
"Yep." Donnie smirked back. He filled the glass with cool water, before tapping nervously on it. "H-how are you holding up?"
The question caught Raph completely off guard, as the turtle sits up slightly and gives Donnie a confused look. "Um. I'm fine?" He says awkwardly, "I'm not having nightmares if that's what your getting at-"
"I meant about earlier." Donnie clarified for him. He then gestured to his stomach. "You know? When the squirrel was inside your-"
"Ok! Ok, I get it!" Raph was quick to shut him up, shivering a small bit at the thought. "I'm...fine I guess?" He answered vaguely. "It was freaking in the moment, but I'm ok now."
Donnie gave him a sceptical look from beside the sink, and look as if he was going to press further.
"I mean it!" Raph suddenly snapped, getting up from his seat slightly. "Damn, when did you start being such a worry-wart? Your worse then Leo..." He mutters, giving Spike a new leaf to chew on.
"Since I became the resident doctor." Donnie replied sarcastically.
"Yeah, I know all about your chainsaw, thanks." Raph scoffed with an eye roll to accompany it.
Donnie smirked, "In my defence, it was Mikey's idea."
"What? What'd I do to him!" Raph demanded, throwing his hands down on the table.
"For stealing his last bag of pizza Gyoza." Donnie confirmed with a slight laugh.
"Oh come on! I said I was sorry!" Raph yelled back annoyed, "If he's just gunna leave it lying around, it's free dibs!"
Donnie shrugged with an amused grin. "Well, I'd say your even now." He begins to head toward the doorway. "But you could always get him back." He suggests. "I won't say anything." He signs a zip over his mouth as he passes by.
"Oh trust me." Raph said with a dark chuckle of his own. "That knucklehead isn't gonna know what hit him." He pet Spike gently on the head as the small reptile chirped dryly, and watched as Donnie made to leave the kitchen. As soon as Raph had his shell to the brunet, he muttered. "Uh... thanks...for um, checking up on me or whatever." He rubbed his head uncertainly, and fixed his eyes solely on Spike.
"No problem." Donnie smiled, before disappearing through the curtains. "Goodnight Raphael."
Raph put a hand up, "Yeah, later dork..." he called, before dropping his hand back down onto Spike's shell carefully. Petting the smaller reptile, who looked up from his leafy breakfast with beady eyes and a strange smile.
As Raphael looked back to the curtains, with a small smirk of his own.
