Well, here we go again I guess. Same idea as The Gaming Wizard, but a bit different. I'll probably go back to it at some point, but you can kind of consider this a soft reboot of that if you want. We'll see though, that's for sure!
Also first ever High School DxD fic! If I can find the motivation for it, expect more from this series as I have plenty of ideas for it.
But enough of my rambling, onto the story!
I don't own High School DxD or any other series that may show up. Please support the official releases.
Julian Bullard's POV
'What in the hell happened?' I thought to myself as I floated through… wherever I was.
It was an endless white void with nothing around, just blankness as far as the… well, I would say eye, but there was a problem with that.
I currently have no eyes. I think. I mean, I could still see all around me, but I had no body to speak of. No arms, legs, chest… nothing. The only sense that I had was sight, but I was starting to wonder if what I had was even sight at all.
This was getting too complicated for me, and if I were being honest, I was starting to get a little freaked the fuck out with my current situation.
So instead of thinking about my possible eternity in the void, I instead decided to think back on what happened before I got here.
Which… wasn't much, to be honest. I mean, I knew I had a family. One mom and dad, one little brother, two little sisters, and a couple of pets. I remember doing stuff with them, fishing, hiking, camping. I remember cutting down trees with my dad, grandpa, and brother. I remember going with my mom to my sisters cheer practices and competitions. I remember it all.
What I don't remember however is their faces, or their voices for that matter. I know I did all these things with them, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember what they looked or sounded like.
That really should make me more anxious than what I was, but strangely my emotions for them were… muted? I couldn't really place the word, but the feeling equivalent to it was walking past a stranger, acknowledging their presence, and then promptly completely forgetting everything about them. Sure, you might remember them down the line somewhat, but you're not going to have any kind of emotional reaction about them.
That was about how I felt right now about them. Complete and utter indifference.
Beyond that, I sort of remembered where I was from. I couldn't give you an exact location, but I know I lived in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere West Virginia. It would explain me cutting down trees and the vast amount of hills that I seem to recall from my memory.
Strange thing was though, everything that I would consider entertainment, I remember plain as day. Books, movies, TV shows, fanfictions… all of them I was able to recall with next to no problem whatsoever.
That one episode of Andy Griffith? Can pretty much quote it to you verbatim. That one episode of Full House? Felt like I'd watched it a hundred times before. Literally pretty much everything from that category I was able to recall with almost perfect memory… Just not anything else.
Fuck, this was really, really confusing, and this endless white void wasn't making anything better on my psyche.
Which finally led me to why the hell I was even here in the first place. I died. Plain and simple as that.
Now how I died was another matter altogether. Being a hundred percent honest? I ain't got the faintest clue. I'm not sure if I should be happy about that or not.
How you died is irrelevant. All that matters is the here and now.
If I could have jumped, I would have done so as a strange blue box suddenly appeared in front of me. Give a man a warning next time before you surprise him, will ya!?
Request: Give Host warning before alerting him… Request denied. System messages will appear in front of the host unprompted.
Ok, first off, rude. Second off, are you reading my mind? And lastly, what do you mean by host?
I don't care. Yes. Would the Host like an explanation on The Game?
It took me a moment to puzzle out what the box was saying, but I caught onto it quick enough that it was answering my questions.
The Game? You don't mean… holy shit. I'm a Gamer. I'm getting fucking Isekaied.
1 (1/100) reputation with The Game (For figuring out what's going on.)
Well, go me then.
But, yeah, I would very much like an explanation please.
Request: Give Host an explanation of The Game… Request Granted. The Game will now explain to the host what's happening.
I made sure to pay close attention to what was being said, as I don't know if it would repeat itself.
Host has died and has been given The Game by The Game's own discretion. The Host was chosen because he was the first one to die in the Omniverse when The Game came into existence. If the Host died either a trillionth, of a trillionth, of a trillionth of a Planck second sooner or later, then the Host would not have been chosen to acquire The Game.
That… was something to take in. Basically, I won the lottery trillions upon trillions of times in a roll. I'm never going to be that lucky again, I knew it.
The Game's objective is to make the Host as powerful as possible. The Game will now give the Host's basic abilities.
Gamer's Body: A grounded version of how a video game character would live. The Host still needs to eat, drink, sleep and do all other biological functions as well. However, the Host is able to rapidly recover from injuries that would otherwise be fatal to others. Limbs can be regrown in a matter of minutes, and unless the Host is decapitated or loses all HP, virtually anything can be recovered from.
Gamer's Mind: The Host is nearly immune to almost all mind attacks. Only those of sufficient power, or those the Host chooses to let in, can enter the Host's mind. The Host will also experience the full range of emotions.
Observe: Look at an object or person and think 'Observe'. Unless the target is too high leveled for The Host, a stat sheet will appear, detailing, name, sex, reputation with Host and thoughts about Host.
Instant Dungeon (ID) Creation: Create a Dungeon and defeat the monsters within to claim rewards. The Host can either enter alone or with a party. Every ten levels has a theme, and on every five levels there's a mini boss that grants increased rewards. The Host is only allowed in the Dungeon two hours a day, but due to time dilation, the two hours spent in the Dungeon, will seem like twelve hours and will be treated as such. Furthermore, all party members that are with the Host will be treated like they were a Gamer themself, leading to their own rapid growth. Last but not least, this is the only basic ability that can be upgraded with 'Quests'.
Holy shit that last one is powerful. Also, quests?
Quests are as they say. The Game will issue quests to the Host to complete. If completed, the Host will obtain the awards that the quest has promised. If failed, the failure penalty will be applied. Some quests don't have a fail option as well, though that will be explained later. Your character sheet will now be shown.
Before I could ask what that was about, another box appeared in my vision.

All things you see in parenthesis is how each stat will be displayed upon level up or through other means. I trust you understand it?
Yeah, I got it. Honestly, it doesn't seem all too complicated really, with it being standard game stats. Let me guess, all these are the average stats of a Human?
Correct.
Good to know. I assume my HP is determined by my CON and END stats multiplied together, while my MP is INT and WIS multiplied together?
Correct.
Then I guess my regens are based on one of those two stats divided by half. END and WIS?
Correct. No, it is based on CON and INT divided by half.
Ah, I see. Good to know. Kind of a bitch move though to have my regen be half my stats, but nothing I can do about that at the moment.
Incorrect. We are now moving to selecting your classes.
If I had eyes, they would have widened at this point. Now we were moving onto the big stuff.
Please select a Primary Class:
Warrior
Bard
Paladin
Mage
Rogue
Druid
?
Note: More classes will be unlocked as you level. To select more classes, you must prestige your current class.
Ah, so that would explain the question marks then. Good to know, especially with that prestiging classe's thing. So, whatever I choose I'm stuck with then; meaning I have to be smart with which classes I select, especially since any time I tried to select a class to view its description, it just asked if I wanted to take the class instead. It sucked that I wasn't getting an explanation of them, but there was nothing I could do. I would just have to rely on my knowledge from video games and fanfiction to guide me in this.
Automatically though I eliminated all but two of the options. The Warrior and Mage classes.
Basic choices? Yes. Smart choices? You bet your ass they are.
I didn't want to go with Bard, because of the many great things that I am, a good storyteller and singer is not one of them. Sure, I could do a 'horny Bard' build, but I'm sure I'm good looking enough to woo the ladies all my own. Arrogant of me? Yes, but if you aren't your own hype man, then who will be?
I didn't choose Paladin, because while I do believe in a higher power of some kind, I didn't want to get stuck into serving one that was an asshole. There was a chance that I could choose a god for me to follow, but when I asked The Game that, all I got back was radio silence. Maybe when I'm stronger, but right now it wasn't worth it.
I didn't do Rogue for the simple fact that it just isn't me. Sure, being all sneaky and stuff is useful, don't get me wrong, and while I'm a big guy, I have been known to be deceptively quiet from what little I remember. Rogue would only help that, but I would rather be bulky and stand out than to be sneaky and possibly get one shot by everything.
I threw out Druid for the same reason as Rogue, because it just didn't suit who I was. I liked nature, don't get me wrong, but I didn't want to derive my power from it.
Which led me to my two final choices, and if I was being honest, I was going to pick Warrior as my first class.
Don't get me wrong, magic stuff sounds fucking cool and could be extremely useful, but that would mean jack shit if whatever I was facing got past my magic and got to me. Mages aren't known to be tanky, after all. Warrior's, on the other hand, have to be tanky. It is a "focus on yourself" build, and that's exactly what I need to do. Focus on myself, then see about upping my magic. Plus, I really wanted to swing a sword. Lame? Yes. Cool? Most definitely.
'I select Warrior.' I mentally said.
Warrior class selected. Please select a subclass.
Knight
Samurai
Viking
Oh? That is interesting. I honestly wasn't expecting that. A subclass.
I say this gives me a further bonus in a stat that Warrior would otherwise not boost, though probably not as much as the primary stats. But, that's just a guess. For all I know I could be completely wrong.
Really, it came down to a personal preference, and while I find all of the options undeniably cool, I went with Knight in the end. I just like them more than the other two, even if it was by the slightest of margins. Hopefully I can come back and get these though. I'm sure they would be fun and very useful to have.

Yeah, that's what I like to see! I was hoping those were the stats that were going to be boosted! Though, I was curious as to what that 1/100 meant by my Knight class. More than likely the current level, if I had to guess.
I didn't get an answer though as The Game continued.
Please select a secondary class.
Bard
Paladin
Mage
Rogue
Druid
?
Noticeably, Warrior was gone, and I still couldn't click the triple question mark option. Thankfully, it still gave me the same options for my secondary class as it did my primary, meaning I'm actually able to select Mage!
'I select Mage.' I mentally said.
Mage class selected. Please select a subclass.
Summoner
Elementalist
Necromancer
Same thing with the Mage class as the Warrior class it seems, though it's much more broad in scope to Warrior. Honestly, I'm surprised these aren't their own classes, but what do I know?
Again, it came down to a preference, but less so than the Knight subclass as these three are much more broad in scale compared to the Warrior subclasses.
I threw out Necromancer first, because while commanding an army of undead undeniably sounds cool, it would just be more trouble than what it is worth. For now. Almost anywhere I go would look down on the ability to raise the dead for your own benefit, even if the reasons for that would be broad. I'll definitely think about choosing it later though.
Which left me with two options left. Summoner and Elementalist. In the end though, I decided to go with Summoner.
Sure, throwing around magic spells like it was no one's business had its appeal, but my idea for Summoner had more. I can picture it now, summoning a vast amount of troops and leading them into battle, fighting untold amounts of enemies and coming out on top, sword raised high and all of us cheering in victory.
I always loved the idea of leading troops into battle, and when it boiled down, it was why I chose the Knight subclass in the first place. When I think Samurai, I think of a lone warrior. When I think of a Viking, I imagine a man with an axe and shield tearing his way through the battlefield. Both of them are extremely fun, but just the idea of a Knight leading a band of men into battle just scratched my brain the right way. Now, is that true historically speaking? Probably the fuck not, in fact, I almost guarantee that my thinking is backwards, but that was always my impression of the three growing up.
Really, I just liked the idea of leading men into battle is what it all comes down to. There's literally no other reason.
'I select Summoner.'

Hell yeah, that's what I like to see! Though it does kind of suck that I'm limited to only humanoid summons now. Would have been cool if I could have summoned a bear to ride into battle, but it's fine. People are superior anyway. Though that level up for troops did catch my attention. Does that mean anything I summon once, I'll summon again, and if that's the case, if I want to get rid of them, they'll have to die?
Yes.
Well, if that ain't morbid. Still, that isn't a bad thing. In fact, it could be extremely good if they last long enough to level up a ton, giving me strong people I can call upon at any time.
I was broken from my thoughts once more as another screen appeared in my vision.
Please select a Production class.
Alchemist
Enchanter
Smith
I actually had to stop and think for a minute here, as the first two I'm extremely interested in. I wasn't crazy about smithing even if I owned a bunch of swords when I was last alive, and it seemed like the hardest choice among the three, so Smith was out.
It's weird that there are only three Production classes to choose from when I had six regular classes, but if I had to guess why, it was probably because I only had one Production class slot? I honestly didn't know, and really, I didn't care all that much. No use in worrying and overthinking about it.
After a few moments of thinking, I finally came to a decision. Enchanter.
Alchemist would have been amazing, especially with the chance of creating healing potions, but the idea of enchanted weapons and gear was just too good to pass up, especially with my Warlord Title. If I could enchant the gear of all my summons, then it was just too good of an opportunity to not exploit. Just the thought of having hundreds of soldiers cleaving through everything in their path was just something I couldn't pass up, even with the potential health potions of Alchemist. Plus, with enough practice, I might be able to recreate a healing effect with enchanting as well. Right now I know it's a pipedream, but the chance was still there.

Nice, really nice, actually. Weird that I wasn't given the option of a subclass like I did with both Warrior and Mage, and that I only got two FP instead of three, but I didn't voice my opinion. I also found it odd that I got a boost to DEX of all things when I chose Enchanter, but I'm sure I'll figure it out soon.
Are you ready to be transported to your new world?
'Wait, what?' I thought, perplexed.
'No, I'm not ready! You still need to explain what Quests are! Or even what those parenthesis next to my classes mean, and a million other things!' I complained.
I don't care. I said it will be explained later, not when; I'm sure you'll figure it out. Figure it out.
Again, it took me a moment to piece together exactly what he was saying, but I eventually figured it out. If I could frown, I would have.
'You're a lazy asshole, you know that?'
Yes. Now, prepare for transport.
Before I could even offer a retort, I suddenly felt my very soul get pulled on to somewhere. It didn't hurt, but my 'vision' went dark all the same and I knew no more.
Julian Bullard's POV
I woke up with a splitting headache as I wince and clench my head to numb the pain. It didn't work. Not even close. I don't know how long I sat there, writhing in agony as two minds began to meld into one another.
Eventually though, the pain did stop and I was finally able to take a fresh breath of air, the pain in my head now a slight aching at worst.
I sat up on my bead and looked down at my hands in wonder. Did that just happen? Did I really gain a Gamer System? Only one way to find out.
'Status.' I mentally called.

Holy shit it's actually real. I'm actually a Gamer.
I laid back down on my bed and began to organize my thoughts properly, not thinking about the fact I have a game system.
Now, just who exactly am I?
Well, the good news is that I'm basically the same person. I'm still named Julian Bullard. I'm still six-foot-six weighing in at two hundred and forty five pounds. I still have my jet-black hair, a mix of blue and green eyes, and a short, full beard. I also still packed heat in my pants which made me happy. I didn't want it to be any bigger, as I was packing more than enough for the ladies, but I sure as hell didn't want to lose any, that's for damn sure.
No, for all intents and purposes I'm still physically me. The only change is my memories.
I'm still from the middle-of-nowhere West Virginia, though this time I was able to pinpoint an exact location of the town I grew up in, which is nice to know. Problem is though, I'm on the other side of the world at the moment. Not a forgotten little town in the middle of Appalachia that I should be in.
Apparently my parents here were far richer here than they were in my old life, so much so that they bought a home in Japan of all places and planned to move here.
I had to learn Japanese, and some fucking how I didn't have a problem with learning it. My parents sold everything they had stateside and bought a house in Japan, and just as we were about to all move together, the unthinkable happened.
My parents died. In a four wheeler accident. They never saw that the trail they were on collapsed and drove straight off of it and splattered on the ground below.
It was a close casket funeral. The local fauna had gotten to them before the police did.
Obviously the me here was absolutely devastated that that happened. I mean, who wouldn't? They were great parents and took very good care of me.
As much as that sucked though, that wouldn't be reason enough for me to shipped all the way to Japan to live by myself. Normally, I would move in with my grandparents, or one of my aunts and uncles.
Problem was though, they too were all dead. In fact, it was the main reason for my parents wanting to move. That many deaths in the family left a mark on them and they just wanted to escape, and I didn't blame them. I wanted to leave as well, if I was being honest.
Another oddity was that I was an only child here. No brother, no sisters, nothing. It was just my mom, dad, and I. My godparents also died like a week before mom and dad did, meaning that I didn't even have them to go with.
It was just too much for the me in this world to handle here, and somehow, someway, I was able to convince the government to just let me move to Japan all by myself. I was old enough to look after myself, and I was a stellar student with no disciplinary issues whatsoever. They agreed, and not a week later, I was in Japan, living in a home all by myself not even half a mile away from my school. Literally walking distance. One thing's for certain, I'll never be able to replicate that…
Ah, right, my new school and what gave away the world I'm in. Kuoh Academy. I was in High School DxD…
…I was really starting to regret not having watched the anime or read fanfics about it. It just didn't seem interesting to me. Well, it's come to have bit me in the ass now, that's for sure. I quite literally know jack shit about it other than the MC's name was Issei and that it is a place with very powerful people. But other than those two things? Not a thing…
…Welp, nothing to do about that. Might as well pull up my britches and face this thing head on. At least it will be fun… I hope.
I have two, really twelve, hours to grind, and I plan to make use of every minute of it.
Sure, I didn't have a sword, or armor, or a shield… really, I had nothing, but you know what I did have? Summons. I had summons…
…Actually, did I?
Please select your summons (0/24)
Knight Soldier.
Samurai Soldier.
Viking Soldier.
Well, that answered my question. After a quick look at my stat sheet, I also figured out that the number of summons I have is linked to my CHR stat, as it's the only one with a count of twelve. Along with my Warlord Title boost, that brought my number of available summons to twenty four, with the possibility of more if I sunk some of my FP into it.
I'll hold off on that for now though, as you never know when I might need to sink some of those points into something else.
Heading down to the living room, as I was going to need all the room I could get, I mentally stated my desire.'Eight of everything, please.' I mentally commanded, and with a bright flash of light, twenty four appeared in front of me.
All of them stood at about the same height of about five feet ten inches and looked rather nondescript. Along with that, each and everyone one of them was equipped with a sword and shield, while two from each faction seemed to be archers of some kind if their bows were anything to go by. They looked exactly like the foot soldier NPC's from For Honor, and if I had to guess, that's exactly what they were.
I used 'Observe' on the furthest one to the left.

Thoughts about You: Absolute loyalty.
I did the same for every other soldier standing in front of me, and other than the archers of each faction being called, for example "Knight Archer", then they all shared the same name. Well, at least it would be easy to remember them.
Before I entered the Instant Dungeon though, I pulled up my stat sheet to confirm something.
MP: 210/330
So, I was correct. It did take mana to summon them, and if my math is correct, then it cost me five MP per summon.
I had a few theories I wanted to test, even if the Game confirmed a few of them already. You just couldn't be too prepared though, and it was always best to check.
Reaching next to me on a coffee table, I grab a pen and walk up to one of each soldier from each faction and write the number 'one' on each of their chest pieces before stepping back. Focusing on the ones that I wrote the number on, I de-summon them.
I pulled up my summoning list.
Summons: (24/24)
Knight Soldier: (7/8)
Samurai Soldier: (7/8)
Viking Soldier: (7/8)
Ok, that confirms one thing. It seems that whatever I choose will be permanent, even if I cancel the summoning. Now, if that remains true when one of them dies, I don't know. As morbid of a thought as it is, I have a feeling that we'll find out soon enough.
With that confirmed, I focus back on my summoning magic, and with another bright flash, the three I sent away reappear once more, the number one still written on their chests.
That confirmed another theory of mine. It seems that I'll be able to give my summons stuff that when I send them away, they'll take the stuff they had on hand with them exactly as it is. At least, that's what I think will happen. Should happen, that is.
And last but not least…
MP: 210/330
It confirmed that MP only counts the first time I summon something. Very good to know and something I'm very grateful for. That frees up so much more MP for me to use.
New Quests have been added!

Summoner 1: Complete the following objectives to receive upgrades for your class.
Objective: Have your summons slay five hundred enemies. (0/500)
Rewards: One summoning slot. One common gacha token.
Enchanter 1: Complete the following objectives to receive upgrades for your class.
Objective: Enchant fifty items. (0/50)
Rewards: Enchanting table. Small assortment of enchanting books.
Warlord 1: Complete the following objectives to receive upgrades for your class.

Instant Dungeon 1: Complete the following objectives to receive upgrades for your class.
Objective: Clear the first ten levels of the Dungeon. (0/10)
Rewards: One common gacha token. Time allowed in Dungeon is increased to three hours. Time dilation will now appear as if eighteen hours have passed.
Well, it was about fucking time that showed up. That is a lot of quests though, and I had many questions, such as the gacha, but I think my questions will be unheard.
Sure enough, when I try to The Game about it, I get no response. Figures.
Welp, no use in crying about it. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
A stray thought accrued to me. Should I go buy some stuff before heading into the Dungeon? Probably. Will I though? Nah, I should be fine. Worst case scenario I have to make a hasty retreat out of there. I'm sure I can pick up what I need in the Dungeon after my summons get done killing whatever it is we go up against. Arrogant of me? Oh, most definitely, but I was confident in myself and my summons ability to take on whatever we go up against. Plus, I could always just take one of my summons sword and shield to fight if it comes down to it. I would take their armor as well, but I'm too big for it. It should be fine though. I'll just scavenge whatever is on the ground, plus what we get for clearing the floor.
With that plan in mind, I mentally psyche myself up and wait for my MP to restore to full before entering the Instant Dungeon.
Welp, that's it. I hope you enjoyed it!
I finally decided to watch High School DxD for the sole purpose of me making fics, and I must say, I'm glad I've watched it. While I'm not completely done with it yet, only being a little half way done with season three, I should catch up soon enough to know exactly happens. It's honestly a really great show and absolutely hilarious to me.
For those of you curious about the MC's name, I got his first name from Julius Ceaser, and his last name from Eugen Bullard, the world's first black combat air pilot. No relation to Julian though, as he's a white guy from Appalachia while Eugen is a black man from Georgia. If you want one of the best stories you ever heard, I couldn't encourage you enough to look up a video from The Fat Electrician that covered him. I can't stress enough how amazing that man's story really is.
Let me know what you thought of the chapter. Tell me what you liked and didn't like. I won't get better at this writing thing otherwise.
Again, if you have any ideas for this story, then please, let me know. Unlike The Gacha System, this will be more like RWBY: Erotic Game System with how the gacha works. i.e, me selecting what he gets from it to avoid (to) much power creep. Still though, I would love to hear what you guy's suggest!
But, that's all I got for you for now, so, until next time, and have an amazing day!
