As Anzai walked back to the living room, he sat on the couch, thinking about the events of what had happened in that attack.
All of a sudden, he heard the sound of groaning coming from the bedroom. Anzai immediately got up and hurried over to the door, concern etched on his face. He knocked softly on the door before opening it with a crack. "Miss Aina? Are you okay in there?" he called out, his voice laced with worry.
Anzai opened the door wider, stepped into the room quietly, and watched her toss and turn, hearing her mumbling and the sounds of her panting.
He went over to the bed, sat down next to her. His pale hands hovered over her shoulders, unsure if he should wake her up or not.
Aina breathes heavily. Inside her dreams, she's running in an endless void as fast as she can to escape from what's chasing her. She doesn't dare to look back, but then trips on her footing and glances back at what has caught up to her, screaming.
Anzai's heart raced, seeing her in distress as she screamed helplessly. He tried to wake her from her nightmare, "Hey! Hey! Miss Aina!" He shook her awake, snapping her back to reality. "Wake up! Miss Aina! It's just a nightmare! You're safe. Wake up!" Aina ceased her screaming and fainted on Anzai's chest.
He held her body steady and gently laid her back down on the bed, making sure that she was comfortable. He stayed with her for a few moments as she slept. Reaching out, he brushed a strand of hair out of her face. "Rest well," he whispered before quietly slipping out of the room and closing the door behind him.
The bright sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow in the room. Anzai was already up and about, sitting down at the kitchen table and having himself a cup of coffee. He glanced to the bedroom door, wondering if Aina is well. He got up from the table and made his way to the room, knocking on the door softly before opening it slightly. Entering the bedroom and sees her stirring awake.
"Good morning, Miss Aina," he said, smiling gently as he walked over to the bedside. "How are you feeling?" Aina covered her shoulders with the blanket. "I feel a little better." Anzai smiled again, relieved to hear that she was feeling well. "That's good to hear." He sat down on the edge of the bed.
Anzai could see the look on her face and sensed that she was still shaken up from her nightmare. "You had a pretty rough night. Do you want to talk about it?" He asked, his eyes searching hers. Aina curled herself to her knees. "I was running away..." Anzai listened intently as she spoke. "Running from what?" He questioned, his voice soft and non-judgmental. "From a dark figure, but it caught up to me..." Aina's fingers trembled as Anzai sensed her quivering in fear while she described her nightmares. He felt a pang of sympathy for her, placing a comforting hand on her arm. "I'm sorry you had to go through that, Miss Aina. But you're alright now." Anzai said softly. Aina gripped his hand as he gave it a gentle squeeze, trying to offer her some comfort. "You're safe," he repeated, his eyes locked on hers. "I won't let anything happen to you, Miss Aina."
