Anzai sprinted at incredible speed, reaching the building as his heart raced with panic, seeing Aina clinging to the window's edge, where she stood on the ledge.
"Miss Aina! Hold on! I'm coming!" He shouted, scaling the wall as desperately as he could to get to her. Aina outstretched her hand to reach him, letting out a relieved smile until pain pierced through her abdomen.
Anzai stood frozen in horror as he saw Aina stabbed and falling from the window. Rushing forward, he leaped and caught her just in time without hesitation. His claws dug into the concrete wall while holding her tightly against him. His heart pounded in his chest. "I've got you," he said, his voice shaking barely above a whisper.
Aina hears his comforting voice despite the pain in her abdomen. His eyes widened as he saw blood seeping from her wound and she felt faint. Anzai held her in a firm embrace as he saw the devil looking above them through the window, his claw dripping with her blood. "Well, well, well. Look who's here to play the hero." He smirked mockingly at him.
Anzai's anger flared up inside him. "You bastard!" he growled, his grip tightening around Aina's body. He leaped to lunge at the devil while holding her protectively. The devil chuckled as he dodged swiftly. "Oh, how scary," he taunted, taking a step closer. Anzai bared his growing fangs as he hissed. But the devil seemed unfazed by his display of aggression. "But you forget, Half-breed. You're no match for me." He laughed in amusment by Anzai's determination.
Suddenly, gunshots rang out, and Anzai ducked down quickly, shielding Aina from the bullets. He looked at her with a mix of relief and surprise, as the bullets had missed him, since his focus was still on protecting her. The devil, on the other hand, let out a pained groan, as one of the shots had hit him. He stumbled back, clutching his wounded shoulder.
Anzai hurries to jump out of the room through the window, landing on the handrail. Still holding Aina in his arms, he looks to check on her to see if she's alive. "Aina. Are you alright, Aina?" He asked, laced with concern and worry.
Aina stirs faintly from the pain, seeing Anzai's face up close to hers. "An..zai.." Her voice weakens softly as she hears herself say his name. His heart clenches at the sound of her frailness. "Don't talk now. Save your strength." He said gently as he adjusted her body in his arms, carrying her.
They both saw the devil escape from the building, glancing back at them. "This isn't over, Half-devil," he said with a cold smile. "I'll come back for her. And next time, you won't be able to protect her forever." The devil whooshed away, disappearing out of sight.
