When Megumin and Kazuma arrived at his house they had to build up their courage to knock on the door, then Kazuma remembered something, "Wait before we knock and open the door-" right as he was saying that Megumin knocked on the door ruining what he was going to warn her of, "You idiot! Why don't you let me finish before doing things that I tell you not to!"
"We just kept waiting so I got bored and I wasn't going to wait longer just because you started talking", the girl said nonchalantly before the door opened.
"Hello?" Kazuma's mom opened the door then looked at the people standing before her, 'Kazuma! Please explain to me why you come home and this cute little girl is standing beside you? Did he do or say anything that offended you, I apologize for what he has done." Megumin was very startled by what the woman had just said to her and looked at Kazuma with an expression that showed that much.
"This is what I was going to warn you about." Kazuma explained to her, trying to take away from the awkwardness and confusion of the situation, "Mom this is Megumin, she is a friend of mine and has nowhere to stay. Do you and dad mind if she lives with us for a bit?"
His mom looked at him with confusion before looking at the girl by his side, "Really, this girl is your friend? Is he telling the truth dear, do you need a place to stay and have no other?" She looked at Megumin with worry in her eyes and a hint of doubt that she was his friend and that he had made it up.
"Well yes, I was living in an orphanage but I wasn't treated well so I ran away and Kazuma here got me food and offered his home as a sanctuary for me. Although if you guys aren't able to it is perfectly fine." As she was finishing her words Kazuma's mom started tearing up.
"Oh how awful that is dear, please come inside, you can live with us as long as you need to, I don't mind." They all started to walk inside before it clicked to her something she said, "Kazuma I didn't think you to be the kind of person to give food and shelter to a person in need, besides where did you guys eat, Kazuma doesn't have that much money on him so you didn't go anywhere special."
"We ate at MkSuba." Kazuma pointed out, knowing that she wouldn't have remembered the name of the place when his mom asked.
"What!? That's the food you gave this poor girl? How shameless of you, here I'll cook you a meal that you deserve after all you've been through." His mom was not happy and imminently started up the kitchen making a slightly early lunch for the 4 of them, even though his dad was still in the living room about to join in on the action.
"She said it was better than cooked bugs, which is apparently what she had been eating at her house." Kazuma said plainly while Megumin quickly got defensive and his mom was in pure shock.
"Listen, I already said that it wasn't that common, just when I couldn't manage to catch any fish in the river, it's not my fault we were poor." Megumin very quickly defended herself, while also making it sound that much sadder.
"You poor baby!" His mother proclaimed hearing what she had just said, "you had to catch food for your family even if it meant bugs! That's awful, well you don't have to worry, here you'll be able to eat all the hot and healthy food a girl needs to grow and live." Megumin started to get embarrassed by how his mom interpreted her words, although not wrong, it still hurt. Then after the mom got tired of being the only person in the house appreciating the girl she hollered "Hey Daichi come in here! Kazuma brought a girl home that needs a place to stay!"
"What?!" The dad quickly yelled in disbelief before turning off the TV and running to the kitchen, then turning to the girl, before quickly turning to Kazuma, "How did you do this son? I know you and I don't believe that you were able to bring a girl home to stay." Kazuma put his head in his hands and shook it before explaining the entire situation to his dad, "So that's how it is. Kazuma, why did you let the girl eat junk food as her first meal!?"
Kazuma's mom quickly chimed in, "That's why I'm making an early lunch for the four of us, and it's ready so we can continue this at the table." They got themselves set up at the table and Megumin looked at her food while Kazuma's parents watched her.
"You know, it's rude to not eat when someone gives you a dish they prepared." Kazuma said remembering what happened at the restaurant.
"I don't know what your guys' customs are, I don't know if you guys pray or anything, I'm not going to do what my family does in case it is rude especially since I'm trying to make a good impression." She harshly whispered at him.
"You don't have to try to make a good impression, my parents already love you like they should their own child." He barely harshly whispered back at her, ridiculing her for out doing him in his parents' love.
After giving Kazuma a look she turned towards the parents, "It looks very good, thank you." With that being taken care of she started to eat the curry in front of her, "Mmmm, this is very good! Reminds me of when my family would have sukiyaki." Learning from earlier and talking after she had swallowed her food.
"That's great to hear!" His mom said, happy to hear that she enjoyed her cooking, "You'll be getting food like that for every meal!"
"Wait, didn't you say that you were poor? How did you guys manage to eat that?" Daichi said before his wife hit him behind the head, "What, that's a genuine question!?" He tried to explain his rude question but his wife wouldn't buy it.
"Well we only ate it a couple of times when my dad would sell a lot of his inventions, which in hindsight they should've saved the money but, they wanted to give us a good time so they spent it to make us happy." Megumin said while looking a bit down, remembering how she won't see them again and how it was all in the past.
Kazuma started to see that she was getting down and had to do something before it turned too depressing, "So where's the girl gonna sleep? She ain't taking my room that's for sure and we don't have a guest room." He said half of it jokingly and half seriously.
Megumin, relieved to see that he had changed the subject, interjected herself, "I can sleep on the couch that's fine with me, or if you have a futon you can roll out in the living room that would work.", Kazuma's parents thought for a bit, before saying anything
"How about we turn the Kazuma's walk-in closet into a bedroom and in the meanwhile we bring out a futon to the living room that you can sleep in, surely we can fit a bed and some belongings in there too." Just as she was saying that Chomusuke meowed, letting her presence known. "Oh, is that a kitten you have with you?"
"Oh, yeah I have a cat, I hope that's ok, I've been taking care of her for quite a while now, and she's been taking care of me. I promise she won't cause any problems, she mostly just keeps to herself."
"Of course it's fine, as long as she doesn't poop on anything then it's fine, now as for where you sleep, this weekend how about us girls go to the store and pick some stuff out for you while the boys get it ready to put in." She looked at said boys with eyes saying 'agree with me or else', to which the boys shook their heads yes to comply with what she wanted. "How about this, Kazuma, dear could you show Megumin around the house? Me and your father need to talk about some stuff real quick."
"Yes Ma'am!" Kazuma said in a soldierlike manner, before standing up and turning to Megumin, "C'mon what are you waiting for, you are done eating right." She looked at her plate that was three fourths empty.
"Yeah, the burger earlier made it so I couldn't finish it, sorry ma'am." Megumin said apologetically to the woman.
"Please, call me Akiko, or if you want you can call me Mom, and as for my husband you can call him Dad or Daichi." Akiko said gleefully, looking at the sweet girl standing before her. After that Megumin got a tour of the house from the least qualified person in the house, other than her of course.
"Wow you really had no idea what these rooms looked like did you?" Megumin said giggling at how Kazuma didn't even know what his parents' room looked like.
"Listen, I spend a lot of my time in my room, so I'm not really used to seeing some of these rooms." Next was the room he was dreading the most, 'Shit how am I going to show her my room without it haunting me forever' he stalled showing her how some of the stuff not from her world works like the TV and electric toothbrushes work, 'well I guess it's out of my hands, let's just hope that it isn't too bad. He opened the door and remembered that he had just cleaned his floor, though that didn't take away less from his manga stashes and figurines.
"Wow, you have a lot more books than I thought you would, and what are these small statutes? They look similar to one at one of my village's tour attractions." She continued to look around the room curious of what the books were about, leaving Kazuma to have a sigh of relief, "oh, story books, I guess it does make sense for someone like you."
"You've just met me, what do you mean 'someone like you'? All I've done is give you free food and shelter, you're lucky I don't leave you on the street." He said while setting down the bag that had the game which was the whole reason he got out in the first place.
M-"Oh you can't do that without a bunch of backlash from your parents so you wouldn't dare, besides you didn't even know what your parent's room look like."
LK-"Yeah, and you do?"
M-"Yeah it's the same as mine and my sister's room, just with one bed instead of 2 and a little smaller of a room, besides mom said that my room should be connected to this by the walk-in closet." Megumin said without knowing the realisation that Kazuma just had that he would save for later.
"Heh, yeah that'll be it, enjoy the look of your new room." She opened the door to find a walk-in closet that had clothes all over the floor and only half of the clothes being on racks, and even less on the right rack. 'Crap I forgot about the mess in here I procrastinated to clean up.'
"Wow. That's all I have to say, I really appreciate the room, it's good sized and all, but the mess here." She turned to look at him with a look of pity.
"Don't look at me like that, I cleaned my room yesterday and was going to get to that today." He was being honest; it was just a matter of poor timing. But after that they went back to his parents, "Ok we have finished touring the house."
"Yeah and Kazuma has learned a lot about the way the house looks." Kazuma gave her a sharp look before she continued, "Thank you Mom for letting me have the walk-in closet of Kazuma's bedroom."
Akiko looked happy when she heard Megumin call her 'mom' but it was about to be ruined by Kazuma, "Hey mom remember when I said that you guys should divorce so I can get a cute younger step-sister?" His mom looked at him before saying 'yes' reluctantly, "Well you guys don't need to do that anymore, I got all the younger step-sis I could ever want." he said with his arms out in a manner that made it look like he was presenting Megumin.
Akiko quickly got up, "You're a dumbass you know that!?", frustrated she decided to talk about another matter, "So me and Daichi were talking and we think that we should just take it easy today, get to know each other, then tomorrow we split up setting up your room and Sunday we put the furniture and stuff in, and by we I mean the boys doing the heavy-lifting and us girls organizing the stuff. Also Kazuma you're going to have to sell off a decent chunk of your manga."
Kazuma was in shock over this news, "What, why!?", 'I mean sure I haven't read some of those in a while but to have to sell them is a bit extreme.'
"It was fine for you to have all of that when you were an only child with no future in sight." That hurt Kazuma, "But since we have a child now that will succeed in the world," That hurt him even more, "We now need to make sure that she gets what she needs which means selling off a good portion of your manga and figurines, besides it's not like you read all of those, we'll let you keep one bookshelf row of manga and another half for figurines since they cost more."
He hated this, but the worst part was that he couldn't even argue, or could he? "You know what!? We'll both go to school, but we'll do it my way." Everyone looked at him with a curious look on their face, "I'll make us do self-paced online homeschooling, which believe it or not I was looking into before this so I know where to go."
His parents were surprised by the sound of this, "Wait you were actually thinking of becoming not a neet anymore?" His dad asked, surprised that his son hadn't completely given up on education and a future.
"Yes parents, I, your only child was trying not to be a shut in neet" Kazuma said proudly, showing that he was trying to get out of the corner that he somewhat placed himself in.
"I'm proud of you for coming out of your shell." His mom said, happy that her son had been making an effort to break from the cycle he had been in, "I think that Megumin is to thank for giving you the final push."
"What do you mean!? I did this by myself, she didn't say anything to make me make this decision!" Kazuma scowled his mother for taking his achievement away from him and giving it to Megumin, even though subconsciously her presence made it so that he was talking with people much more than he is used to, and even made him stay out longer than he was planning on. Sure Megumin didn't say anything directly, but her pointing out that he had a mess in his room and that she could tell that he would have stories instead of educational books from what she had seen of him.
"Sure." Akiko said playfully with a smile, knowing that the boy would just get closer and closer to his new roommate. "Alright, Megumin if you want you can rather help Kazuma with organizing his manga or you can tell me and Daichi about yourself." She looked at Kazuma, who absolutely wanted neither of those to happen, who knows what Megumin would tell them and what his parents, his mom in particular, was planning, on the other hand if Megumin helped with the manga then she would see all the stupid things he had and it would be so annoying.
Megumin looked at Kazuma's face reading his thoughts for a second with a smirk on her face, she switched to an innocent smile before making her choice "I'll help Kazuma with taking down his books, I think I saw 4 bookcases full of them so it would be best if I helped."
Kazuma, knowing what she just pulled decided to get some quick revenge, "Why thank you for your company, I'll look over the books and put them in piles depending on sets and prices, and you can do all the boxing." Megumin quickly realised that he was just going to look at manga while she was having to walk all around and move stuff.
"Alright let's do it, do you know where I can get some boxes?"
"Yeah they should be in the garage, we'll need a good amount so I'll help carry them." He kindly offered as they set off to get the boxes into Kazuma's room, "You ready?" He said in anticipation for what they were going to do.
"I was born ready." Megumin said with a straight face, acting like she was going to do something cool even though they were just going through books.
With the both of them now in his room and having the boxes they needed, they got set up to sort through mangas. After a small time had passed they decided to start talking since doing work in silence would be terrible, so Kazuma decided to start it off, "So what was your world like?" He didn't know if it was a sore spot but he had to know.
"Well the people are pretty nice, I grew up in a village with other people of my race." She said that thinking that this world had races too.
But Kazuma quickly interrupted, "What do you mean? Are there people that aren't human in your world?"
Megumin looked annoyed at first before realising something and having a calm look on her face, "I know that there are differences in our worlds but if you could raise your hand when there is something that is different, that you have a question about then please raise your hand; You understand that?" Kazuma shook his head with a pouty face knowing he was being rude and that his excitement overcame him, "anyway, yes there are other races, such as gods, Eris and Chomusuke for example-" Kazuma shot his hand up and she knew exactly the reason why, "yes, Kazuma."
"You're telling me that Chomusuke, the cat, is a GOD?" he yelled pointing a finger at said cat that meowed at the accusation, 'I better treat that cat as such then', "So what's the story of how that happened?"
"Well-" She proceeded to tell him the story of how she got Chomusuke and about how demons were trying to come after her, all but how she died and what happened around that time. Later talking about her village's culture and other things about the world. All while Kazuma listened, half doing the work he was supposed to do, but fully listening, occasionally raising his hand asking about how things worked and about what people (mainly the women and the men that sounded badass) looked like. Of course he made fun of the way the crimson demons introduced themselves.
"So you're a crimson demon?" He asked curiously examining her body and look, "You don't exactly look like someone from a magical world, you look more like a girl who got into goth and rock way too early." Saying this he looked again at her clothes which didn't make sense until she answered.
"Well Eris gave me this to fit in with this world, while also keeping a style that I would like." She remembered Eris saying that Kazuma would be someone that she would love, 'what a stupid goddess, yeah he's fun, but I wouldn't say I love him. That's way too far-fetched, I mean we just met, and what was it Kazuma said?, "A girl that will develop feelings for me.", He's way too over his head.'
"Hello? You ok?" Kazuma said, with a slight blush on his face since he was inches away, poking Megumin on the nose while she was in her head thinking, when she came back to her senses she saw Kazuma in her face.
"Eep!" She shot back, fully blushed seeing Kazuma so close to her, "Kazuma what are you doing? Why are you so close to me!?" She said frantically looking at him and then the area surrounding him.
"Chill out, you blanked out and I didn't know what I could get away with since you were deep in thought so I decided to see how far I could go." He said with a mostly blank expression on his face.
"Still you shouldn't do that, a girl might get the wrong idea." She said her face to the side.
"So what if you get the wrong idea, doesn't change my idea." He said this thinking she would demand to know what it was.
But instead she kept her head to the side bringing her legs close to her chest before holding them whispering, "Idiot." Kazuma blushed, quickly realised all that had happened and decided that it would be best to get back to work.
"Well, we aren't going to get anything done goofing around, I'm gonna get back to reading manga." He got up before sitting back down on his bed flipping through manga covers and when it was one that didn't give him his fix he threw it in one pile while giving the other pile his favorite ones.
"I told you about my world and it's not like you are going to be there anytime soon, how about you tell me about the world I'm going to be living in." She did make a valid point, although Kazuma wanted to see what type of knowledge she had, so he could see what she would understand. She may have been smart but as far as medieval intellect is concerned, sure it had some of the smartest people but average intelligence was very low, and she seemed to be pretty poor so reason has it that she would only know so much.
"Well what do you know, you are smart, I'll give you that. But the time that your world seems to replicate, unless you had money, which you know, you weren't able to learn just about anything."
"Well my family spent all the money they had to let me go to the school that was in the village, where we learned algebra, physics, geology, politics, and I spent time learning on the theory of atoms, although there wasn't too much, and combustion which what caused explosions." He was surprised about how much she knew, of course the politics were just monarchies so he would have to teach her about democracy, and about combustion since that is a massive thing in the world of engineering, and explosions but he thought she would like the option and the new technology that the world had.
"Well you seem to know the basics, and the fact you know quite a bit about combustion is useful, you can rather build bombs which would take physics, which you seem to know a good bit about, or you could go into engineering, which is basically a bunch of small explosions that help make things and are used in industrial settings." He watched as she looked at her options.
'Well if I want to conserve energy for explosions I guess that engineering would be the best, when I talked with Eris she mentioned that and it seemed to be the best.', "I'll go with engineering, tell me more about that." She started off a bit timid, not liking the idea too much of leaving the massive explosions that she had loved so much for a smaller one.
"Well I know the basics so you'll have to do extra research to know stuff in more detail, but the basics are that there are two main types of ways that people use to move stuff with electricity, the first one being motors, which are coiled around a metal rod and can turn a metal cylinder around it causing it to spin from electro-magnetism which is able to turn things causing movement via pushing, this is used for more relatively light-weight things going up to a few tons when it comes to the powerful ones although slowly. A hydraulic which I think you'll like more, moves stuff via combustion causing a liquid, compacting it into a small area causing it to explode moving tens of thousands of pounds at speeds faster than the motor and as I said earlier it is used in industrial implications but also construction and shipping cargo. I can teach you how to use a computer so you can learn more about these things." He quickly realised that she probably didn't know what that even was, "It's basically a book with most the information in the world, anything that's not confidential." When he finished talking he looked to Megumin expecting a response, but when he looked her eyes were just sparkling, arms to her chest with excitement.
"Wooah, that's so cool!" Kazuma was taken back a bit from her reaction, "This world has such interesting technology that incorporates explosions in everything they do!"She was completely fangirling! "I have to learn more, Kazuma Kazuma! Teach me more!" She ran over to him, keeping the same excited face on her as she came very close to Kazuma, causing him to have to set the book he had over to his side.
"Cool it! You're completely fangirling right now! As far as that stuff goes I already told you the stuff I'm completely sure of, and I told you that you can use the computer to learn more, it was only meant to be a base that you could learn off of." Kazuma had to defuse her before anything bad happened.
"Ok, teach me! Where is this computer and how do I use it!" She just got closer to his face even more excited to what she could learn, at this point Kazuma had his back to the wall and Megumin was on all fours not letting him move. The situation quickly gave Kazuma thoughts of what he was seeing.
'Ok Kazuma calm down! This is fine, I just have a cute girl on me and is very happy wanting me to teach her. This is a normal scenario that I'll need to get use to I'm sure that this is normal, not meant to be taken in any way that is not-' his mind started to drowse as he saw how her body was just to his liking, 'You know, for someone that is as flat as they come she has a rockin bod, I am not going to unsee this anytime soon. Kazuma, get out of this thought process she is just trying to learn, not anything weird, but on that note what idea was she getting earlier, was it something like this?' As his mind raced he had to snap out of it when he heard his door open.
"How's things going in here kids-" Just as Akiko opened the door she saw the position that Megumin and Kazuma had gotten themselves into, "Nevermind I'll just leave you two too it." Kazuma quickly got out of Megumin's grasp, careful to not hurt her.
"Hey Mom it's not what you think!" He hollered as he tried to open the door, before he realized it was locked from the outside, "Damn it! Why did you lock it!?"
"So that you two can have your privacy of course!" She said, clearly having a smirk on her face.
Kazuma walked away in defeat looking at Megumin, who was clearly confused, "What was that about?"
"Well she saw that you were on top of me and assumed that we were." He didn't have the courage to finish it, and by the look on Megumin's face he didn't have to, she was blushing a storm, she tried to talk but was unable to. They quietly went back to sorting anime books, an hour or so passed and by now they were 80% done and Kazuma got sick of the silence, "You should probably know about the basics of politics in this world since they effect most asterisk(*) things."
Megumin, startled by the fact they were in conversation again and the new word in the sentence, "Oh, uh what does 'asterisk' mean?"
"Means that while it is kinda true there's a lot of complicated shenanigans that go behind it that makes it partially true but also partially false, it happens a lot in politics and will always be that way with most* governments" Kazuma explained with a small laugh.
"Wait, why are you laughing? Isn't it a bad thing that it is that way?" She asks genuinely confused, not understanding why something so important would be laughed at for its ridiculousness.
"Well in this world, most* countries are democracies which means that they people* elect who runs* the country, and it's funny because they make stuff happen in such roundabout ways that it's best to just get the cliffsnotes with everything when you know how the general system works of that country/section of government, and try to guess what'll happen for fun and leave it at that. So time to learn a bit of politics, the funnest subject there is." He said the last part sarcastically hinting at how annoying it is and not to look into it because it's a waste of time unless you work there which neither of them ever would. After they were done with politics and had finished sorting the books, leaving Kazuma with one row of manga, they just had the figurines to sort through.
"So which ones are you gonna keep?" She asked curiously looking at the figurines he had.
"Well most of these are just little inhuman characters so I don't care for any of these being sold off, if there's one that you want, feel free to have it." Kazuma didn't really care too much since none of them were particularly special to him and by the way Megumin looked she didn't care for them either, "Well that's that then, they all go."
"Are you sure?" She asked with caution not knowing if there was any that had sentimental value or anything like that.
"Yeah, I kinda just kept them to look at if I was bored, but I'd rather you have more money to get something you like." Him saying that made Megumin have some butterflies in her chest before he decided to make a comment, "Besides, you're the child with the future after all."
"Wow, you really know how to ruin a mood don't you?"
"Hey, what do you mean by that? At least I didn't steal someone's parent's love from under their feet." Kazuma said whilst pointing an accusing finger at the girl causing her to take a step back.
She started to stumble her words because of the rash sentence that came at her, "Wha-t how is it my fault? I just said 'hi' and told them the lie that we came up with."
"Yeah well you didn't need to make it sound so, 'woe is me! I eat bugs and the orphanage treated me horribly'." He said, mocking her.
"You came up with that part of the story, And you said I ate bugs you dumbass, you can't blame me for nothing." She snapped back almost laughing at how well he misremembered the situation.
With a confused look on his face he was only able to ask, "Wait, did I?"
"Yes, you came up with the vast majority of the story after saying my idea was trash and wouldn't work." Now on the brink of laughing.
"Yeah well I didn't expect for you and my mom to act that way you were." He awkwardly shot back, not wanting to admit defeat, "And besides what are you laughing for, it's not my fault that you're so cute that's the reason my mom liked you so much."
Flustered, Megumin quickly shot back her laughter gone, "Yeah well maybe if you went out of your room more then you wouldn't have to worry about this." Little did she know, this hit a nerve that hasn't been hit ever since he left highschool.
As tears started to form under Kazuma's eye, memories of when he was in high school started to come back, "You think I chose this Damn it! I want to go out there and talk with them." Megumin quickly realised that she had messed up, "I want to go out and go to school, make friends. Not be a disappointment in his room that just costs his parents money and they get nothing in return." An uneasy silence filled the air that was just a couple seconds but it felt like minutes, "You heard my parents earlier, I'm just an extra cost with no future and that you'll succeed in the world, hell when I said that I had been looking into homeschool options they were surprised!"
Megumin felt horrible for what she had said and didn't know how to apologize, "I'm sorry, I spoke without thinking and I shouldn't've said that. If you want we can talk about it, since it doesn't seem like you feel comfortable with your parents." She tried to reassure him by giving him a shoulder to cry on, she then brought him to the bed where he started to explain to her the reason he was the way he was, he didn't know why he decided to tell her, but he did.
"It started back when I was in elementary school, I had a friend who was this cute girl. We became friends and we promised to marry each other one day, in middle school I declared myself as her boyfriend, because of the promise we made. But then," He stopped for a moment before Megumin held her arms out indicating that she would be fine if he wanted to be hugged, to which he quickly gave in. "She one day rode on another boy's bike and they were together. For months she had been cheating on me behind my back, saying awful things and sharing secrets I had told her. Before too long I stopped trying to make friends and just tried to get past middle school, when I started high school I tried to move on past it before I saw her and then we bumped into each other to which I nearly got beat up by her boyfriend. I started to get bullied before leaving the school, causing me to be a shut-in neet. I couldn't talk to my parents because they just kept telling me things like 'stuff happens and you need to move on' and that 'don't let things like this hold you down'. They never asked me if I was ok, probably because they already knew the answer, but they tried to give me a therapist but that didn't last long since I didn't trust them. The worst part is is that I still haven't gotten over her, I still want to be with her."
Not too long after this he just cried, to which Megumin held him, trying to hold back tears before giving up, "I'm so sorry you had to go through that." She managed to get out before reassuring him, "But that's all in the past now, I will help you every step of the way to get over her and to get a girlfriend that will love you for you." They just held each other for an hour, crying.
When they were done Kazuma got up, "Well we've finished getting the books together, let's close the boxes and put them in the living room."
They started to close up the boxes, "Yeah, we've spent a good amount of time doing this, dinner is probably close to being done." Megumin did have a good point, it took them around 6 hours in total, including the sad bit but it was around dinner time. Megumin went to the door after they got all the boxes together to move, hearing it jiggle without opening. "Is everything ok? Why is it not opening?"
Megumin looked at Kazuma confused and then it hit him, "Damn it Mom, why did you have to lock it!"
"Wait, does that mean we're locked in here?" Megumin asked frantically before realising something important was happening, "Hey I need this door open, now!" she said squirming.
"Yeah I know we need to get out, we can't just stay in here forever." It took Kazuma a second but then he saw that she was squirming a bunch, "Oh do you need to pee?"
"I'm a crimson demon, we don't pee!" She quickly shot back, not wanting to admit that she was holding it in for dear life, "Can't you do something to get her attention though! I really need to leave this room for…uh… reasons."
Kazuma felt like it wasn't the right time to tease her but did in a way she would at least thank him, "Sure I'll call her to tell her to open up." He said calmly, pulling out his phone calling his mom, when she picked up it was time to do it, "Hey Mom can you open up, Megumin needs to pee."
"Kazuma! That is not the reason I need to leave the room!" Megumin yelled at him, aggravated that he would make such a joke at a time like this.
"Kazuma! Why would you make fun of your girlfriend like that?" Akiko asked, demanding an answer.
Very quickly both Megumin and Kazuma yelled, "Whatt!?"
"Why do you guys sound surprised? I saw you guys on top of eachother, I just hope you got your work done. I'm coming to open the door." Kazuma and Megumin looked at each other, embarrassed before his mom opened the door, "There you go Megumin, take all the time you need. As for you Kazuma, you need to learn your manners young man, don't make fun of a girl like that."
"Yeah and don't make bizarre assumptions like me and Megumin being a couple!" He was blushing hard, but not as hard as Megumin who was beet red and rushed out the room the second she could.
"What do you mean? I saw you guys, were you not, you know, doing it?" She asked in genuine confusion.
"No! We just met, do you really think that after a little while either of us would commit ourselves to the other person?"
"Yeah, yeah, well either way dinner is ready so come to the table, also nice work on the room, didn't think you'd actually get it all done today." She looked around before looking at the closet door, "Next is the closet, don't make the girl have to clean your room for you either, I know how sly you can be." She proceeded to leave the room for the dinner table, to which Kazuma followed.
