Chapter 9:

I woke up the next day early enough to be considered insane to most and laid there contemplating on whether or not I should get up. Knowing that I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep I got dressed in my circus clothes, seeing as I didn't have my maid attire yet and walked downstairs to get breakfast from the kitchen.

I was thankful that I had taken off my makeup. My face was itchier than it was the day before and I scratched myself as I walked in through the door and saw the other servants already there. Albeit groggy, they still got out of bed to perform their duties.

So this is how early they wake up, I thought.

They soon looked up and noticed I was there and greeted me with a tired but welcoming greeting.

"Hello Celesta!" they greeted.

"Good morning you guys. How is everyone doing this morning?"

"Good," Bard said.

"I'm doing good Miss Celesta!" Finnian yawned.

"I'm doing well!" Mey-rin also semi-tired.

"That's good you guys. So what are the chores today? Or did Sebastian not come to tell us what it is yet?" I looked at them as they began shaking in fear. I looked behind me to see the clad in black butler and turned around to completely face him. He looked down at me as we both stood there. The others were still shaking in fear and I could feel their agitation as I stood there staring at Sebastian.

"For now, Celesta, you're job is to help the other servants clean. The young master hasn't chosen your permanent job as of yet."

I nodded in acceptance and walked passed him to the closed back door and headed to the garden. I wanted to clear my mind of the demon that seemed to taunt me whenever he could. I knew I wasn't accepted easily seeing as how I was a part of the very thing the queen ordered them to put a stop to.

I stepped on the concrete portion of the garden and walked along the path deeper into the colorful plantation. The wind blowing seemed to calm my mind down and the flowers smell were causing my breathing to slow down in a more comfortable rhythm. Some of the petals from the flowers blew off of the stem of the flowers and blew away in the wind. I stood there admiring the roses and the daisies that were surrounding me and inhaled the scent of the fresh flowers.

I felt the presence of someone watching me as I stood still. I couldn't look around to see who it was seeing as how that would make me look suspicious, so I walked back to kitchen to see if any of the servants needed any assistance.

Sad to say, when I got into the kitchen I noticed Bard trying to cook something with a flamethrower. It was strange seeing a chef using a flamethrower to cook delicacies as one would think a normal person would ues the stove or the oven.

"Bard what are you doing?" I asked in alarm.

"I was cooking some food and thought it was taking too long so I decided to cook it faster," he said rubbing the back of his head.

"Bard food takes time. You can't use a flamethrower otherwise the food will just burn. I'm sure Sebastian told you."

"Yeah he did," he said, defeat clear in his voice.

"Now I won't tell Sebastian if that's what you're thinking. As long as you stay out of trouble for the rest of the day. If I hear any sign of destruction from you I will personally kill you myself Bard."

Taking his flaming death machine I went to my room to hide the flame thrower. I sat the flamethrower in the corner of the room next to my wardrobe cabinet and sat on the bed. I sat for one second until I heard an explosion. I was confused as I sat there.

What else could he have used to blow up the kitchen? But... this does explain the burnt smell when I first arrived. Oh no. Sebastian is gonna kill the both of us...

I walked back to the kitchen to find Sebastian scowling at Bard. I stood behind him, hoping that he wouldn't notice me and scold me for something I tried to prevent.

"Bard, I have told you not to use dynamite in the kitchen," said Sebastian.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help it. The meat was taking forever to cook so I decided to use the dynamite."

"Clean this mess up. Do not let this happen again."

Sebastian left the kitchen without acknowledging my presence and continued on his way through the kitchen door. i stood with Bard and stared at him as he rubbed his neck and began stuttering an explanation for his negligence.

"Oh hey Celesta. I was just trying to use your advice and not use the flamethrower."

"Bard," I sighed, "I told you to cook the food slowly. What else do you have that includes explosions!?"

"You know, the usual. Bombs, dynamite, grenades, the flamethrower and some sulfur."

"Bard..."

"Yes."

"I'm going to kill you."

I walked back to my room, a heavy sigh escaping my lips as a headache began to form inside my skull.

"Stupid Bard and his stupid explosions..."

I opened the door with a hand pinching the place between my eyebrows and walked in without noticing the figure next to my wardrobe cabinet.

"Hello Celesta."

"Hello Sebastian," I blanched in shock.

"I have brought you your maid attire."

"Ok thanks. I think I'll put it on tomorrow. I would like the freedom of not wearing one for a bit longer."

He handed me my maid attire but didn't move an inch to leave yet. And I didn't know what to do so I stood there and stared at him, fidgeting under his scrutinizing gaze.

"Sebastian... can you leave please. I want to rest for a bit."

He waltzed to the door, as swift and graceful as he always is and closed the door behind him. I could feel the little bit of the presence he let out still behind the door and stood there staring at the spot I knew him to be at. In the few moments of the both of us standing there, I knew, it was going to become more difficult working with him as the days pass.
