On The Wings Of Love-Ch 1

Over the next several weeks Penelope was getting stronger and stronger every day and Derek was very seldomfrom her side, he was there with her as much as possible and Connie and the others knew that him being with her was helping her get stronger, faster.

It was now the last week of January and Penelope would find out today if and when she would get to go home, to say that she hated hospitals wouldbe an understatement and now that she's spent over 3 weeks there she hated them more than ever.

She looked up from computer screen in front of her, she had been given permission to use the computer a day or so after she her lung had reinflated and she was taken off of the machine, both made her feel a lot better.

Penelope was now a married woman and even though she wasn't released to be intimate with her husband, they were sure kissing every chance they got and that please not only them but their family because the more they got caught that meant that Penelope was doing better and better.

The team minus Derek was gone on a case and her brothers Paul and Patrick were working today and had already paid her a visit this morning and promised to come back for another visit before they left for the evening.

Fran and the girls came everyday and brought her delicious goodies from home because as everybody knows hospital food isn't exactly the best tasting food around but Fran's food made up for that most definitely.

Derek walked into the room with Connie right behind him, she walked over to the bed and said, "so how are you feeling today?", Penelope said, "good, can you please tell me when I get to go home?", Connie said, "about that?", Penelope said, "noooooooooo, please don't tell me I have to stay longer".

Connie laughed and said, "no, no, you don't have to stay, as a matter of fact I am releasing you to go home today and I have your papers here with me to prove it" as she held up said release papers.

Penelope said, "butttttt?", she said, "I know that you are a newlywed but", Derek said, "we don't want to do anything that could hurt baby girl, she's been through so much over the past several weeks so if you say that we need to wait, then we will wait", Penelope nodded her head and said, "exactly".

Connie said, "alright, I appreciate that and I will release you for intimacy but not for another couple of weeks", Derek said, "sooooooooo, you're saying that by ohhhh Valentines day that I can have sex with my wife?", Connie laughed and said, "that's exactly what I'm saying".

Penelope said, "and about this wrist?", Connie said, "that is healing nicely too but you still need to leave that splint on, it's there for protection and I'm sure that I don't have to tell you that there is no lifting, right?", Derek and Penelope said in unison, "right", she then handed them Penelope's release papers and said, "alright then I'll step out and let you get dressed so that you can head home".

Penelope stood up and walked over to Connie and hugged her and said, "thank you so much Connie, thank you for everything that you did to help me", Connie said, "you are very welcome and hopefully in a few more weeks that arm along with the rest of your body will be back to normal".

Derek smiled and said, "I'll go pull the car around", Penelope said, "I'll be down soon", when Derek stepped out into the hall he saw the smiling faces of Paul and Patrick who had just gotten off of duty and were there to see their sister.

Derek said, "good news, we're heading home", Penelope said, "just as soon as I can get my shoes on, I'm just gonna wear my jammies home", Patrick squatted down in front of her and said, "here, let me do this for you" as he put her shoes up and then stood up and stood smiling down at her.

Penelope said, "thank you", he said, "you are very welcome soooooooooo let's get you into this wheelchair and get you downstairs so that Derek can get you home", Penelope said, "home sounds amazinggggggggbut wait, my stuff is still" and Paul said, "it's already at the new place, don't worry".

Her brothers helped her up and into the wheelchair and they were all three laughing and talking as they wheeled her toward the elevator and a few minutes later she was in the car and pulling away from the curve, she waved at her brothers and said, "thank you", they said, "you're welcome, now bee good, we'll see you soon".

Penelope nodded her head and waved again as they pulled away from their parking spot and turned left to turn onto the main road so that for the first time in almost a month she could finally go home.
