July 4, 1996

Mr. Bennish invited me and some of the other researchers to his home in Castro Valley to a backuyard barbecue tio celebrate Independence Day. From what I read, the circumstances were pretty much the same as they were in my home world.

I definitely enjoyed the hamburgers and hot dogs and the tri-tip. We all spoke. Dr. Davis mentioned her grandmother was from Lousiana and knew how to barbecue

I did tell them about last year. My companions ansd I got temporary work at a six-day barbecue festival, including July 4th. The history of that world was unremarkable; I did recall George Washington gave his life during the Revolutionary War. I did recall having a sample of leftover Memphis-style baby back ribs and sweet corn on the cob and creamy grits.
