April 19, 1997

The country today commemorated the second anniversary of this terrible terrorist attack in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

From what I have been able to read, on April 19, 1995, a man named Timothy McVeigh parked a U-Haul armed with a bomb in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. In its destruction, 168 people were killed, including children at a daycare center. President Clinton gave a speech from the White House. Mayor Willie Brown likewise gave a speech from San Francisco City Hall.

I wondered, given the similarities between this world and my world, if it happened on my world as well.

It is as if destiny reasserts certain patterns across many dimensions, for good or for ill.
