The rest of the Summer passed in a blur for Harry. Between dodging the Dursleys and magic lessons with Breezy, Harry had little time to ponder anything. Yet, his few quiet moments he had, he kept finding his mind wandering back to the girl from the Ice Cream Parlor. Ginny, she was called. Harry longed to learn more about the mysterious girl who had made the storm that was his life calm, even for a few precious minutes.

After his practice of making balls of magic and throwing them around, creating a sphere shield around himself had been easy.

"Very good," Breezy had praised as Harry had finished the first layer of a shielding. "Air Mages typically can only do domes, which leaves them open to attacks from below. By creating spheres of magic first, I have got you in the habit of making those. This could save your life, so no matter how tempted you are to fall into that trap, you must do spherical shields."

Breezy then taught him how to make a shield around his bedroom and to link the power of the shields into the air outside his room, to empower them.

"You will need to check them nightly, of course, but you won't have to feed them new power every day to keep them active. Later, when it becomes needed, I'll show you how to make a permanent shield designed for high-level spell crafting, when you are at your most vulnerable. However, it takes more power than you can currently handle to do, so we won't worry about it for now."

That was the frustrating part. With each lesson, Harry could feel stronger powers waiting just outside his reach. He never tried to grasp them, but he knew they were there.

"Breezy, what are these powers I can sense just beyond my reach?"

The Sylph looked shocked. "That is the power that comes with Mastery, which you have not achieved yet. To already be able to sense them is quite impressive."

Harry felt a little better at that. Breezy had explained that true mastery could take many years to achieve, or it could take just one. It depended on the person. Then again, he was not sure he wanted the responsibilities of a full master at age eleven. That was another lesson Breezy gave, the responsibilities of Mages and Masters.

Harry would protect the air, even as it protected him. He would be required to protect the innocent from those who bent magic to ill use.

"Magic is neutral in the battle with good and evil," Breezy had said. "However, many evils magic bend nature in ways it wasn't meant to go, so magic tends to prefer the good Mages to the bad. For a good magician, magic is just one more tool in their kit or a friend to be called on when the need is high. For the bad ones… well they use magic for everything. A good rule of thumb is magic should only be used for things you cannot do yourself or to protect yourself."

Harry nodded. "Why do we need to be so careful of other magic users?"

Breezy smiled. "The ability to use elemental magic is born for the most part. Truly, any mortal with determination can learn and use magic, they just won't be able to see what they are doing and often end up meeting a sticky fate. However, born magicians have an imbalance in their elemental make-up, for the most part. Do you have marbles, Harry?"

Harry did not but he went and got some of Dudley's. "Here, these will work."

Breezy sorted them into piles and placed five red, green, blue, and yellow in the center of the floor.

"This is what a normal person's elemental make-up looks like. With one exception, the person in this configuration cannot use any of the elemental magics naturally unless they are really determined. Even then, they will be weak. Do you know why this is?"

Harry shook his head. Breezy pointed to the blue marbles.

"This is Air magic. Do you see the yellow opposite it? That's Earth. If you possess the same amount of Earth as you do Air, you cannot use either element naturally as they neutralize the affinity. It's the same with the red and green marbles. Now, what happens when you take away some marbles."

Breezy took away all the yellow marble and added five more blue ones.

"Oh, I see. Without any earth to weaken it, the affinity with Air grows stronger?"

"Yes! Exactly. You have a make-up of almost completely Air with a little spark of Fire. You could be a fire mage if you wanted, but you would insult us Air Elementals by wasting your potential."

"I don't want to do that." Harry said firmly. "You said there was an exception though?"

Breezy sighed. "Sometimes, people are born with an excess in all four elements. This creates either a Spirit Mage or Spirit Master. We know very little about them, other than they can draw powers from ghosts and all four elements, if they make friends with an elemental."

Harry looked at the marbles again. "Think I'll get to meet a Spirit magician?"

Breezy shrugged. "They are very rare, but it's a big world out there, Master Harry. I hope you do; you'll have all kinds of adventures if you do."

Harry grinned. "I can't wait to be a full Master, helping people. Leaving this house and room and making a difference in the world."

Breezy bowed. "No Air child should ever be caged. I will pull aside the bars for you, Master Harry, so you can escape. I swear it."

Harry looked back at her. "Shouldn't you be careful of making oaths like that? You told me a magical user or creature must never lie or fail to keep their oath."

Breezy flew up and kissed his cheek. "That's true, but to see you soar on the wings you will make for yourself, I will do whatever it takes. The blue sky is calling, and I will see you answer."

School was almost upon them. Ginny was a nervous wreck as she rushed to make sure all her supplies were ready for the next day. Her mum was even more anxious than she was. Ginny had grimaced as a firework her brothers were making went off unexpectedly and hit Percy in his bottom. Normally, she would have joined Ron in laughing as their brother danced around the room, trying to put his pants out. There was no risk of injury at least. The Weasley's had been gifted with Fire magic for so long, even the lowest power members of the clan could never be burned. Still, their mother was giving them a chewing out like none of them had ever seen before.

Ginny went out to look at the stars. "Where are you, Harry?" She asked the night. "Are you well? Are you as excited to see me tomorrow as I'm you?"

Naturally, she got no answer. She also knew she would have a mission. To find the new Air Master that was born last month. She had not sensed any magic around Harry, so she doubted it was him, even if that would have been her ideal situation. There was something about him, she could not deny.

A warm light appeared beside her, and she looked over to see her mum's primary salamander.

"Are you well, Miss Ginny?" The elemental asked.

"Yes, just eager to start my first mission. I don't even have my powers yet, but I'm ready to help an anyway I can."

The Salamander spun in place, its blue eyes burning just as brightly as the rest of its body. "You will do well. We Fire Elementals are eagerly waiting for you to come into your powers."

With that, the creature faded. Ginny smiled as she got up and headed for bed.

Snape grimaced as he looked at the acceptance letter for Stonewall. He had changed schools each team, teaching chemistry to brats, looking for James' son. He needed to deliver the child to his master before his seventeen birthday, if possible. Sure, his Master could not directly affect the child at this time. Lily's spell was too effective for her own good. Snape didn't want to imagine how much of her own power was being siphoned away each day to keep the protection alive. Ironically, if she had died, the spell would be permanent and the brat would be sure to survive. It was luck that his Master had not flown into a rage and killed Lily after she foiled his plan.

"I hope this will be the year." Snape remarked as he packed his bag. "I really dislike children."

Then his mind wandered to two black haired child with Lily's eyes. Perhaps he would not have minded their children so much.

A/N: And that is the end of the first summer. Next month will see them at school as well more of the Maunders as they make their way back home.
