Tarryn meets Lizzy and I hope you guys like this version of her better.

Tarryn's POV

How can women in this period even breathe in these things? I thought as I dealt with the discomfort of the corset underneath my dress.

I was outside alongside Ciel and the others waiting for Elizabeth to arrive.

I wonder what she's like in person my dragon wondered.

Who knows I replied back to her as a carriage came to a stop in front of the manor. Sebastian went to the carriage door and opened it. He then offered Elizabeth his hand and I did my best not to stare at the preteen.

Despite being only twelve Elizabeth was a pretty girl. No doubt when she got older, she would be gorgeous, and whoever her new fiance was, he lucked out. And like she did in the anime, Elizabeth threw herself onto Ciel and proceeded to hug him and the usual whatnot.

"Oops, sorry I got carried away," she apologized before letting Ciel go.

Ciel chuckled and reassured her she was fine. The blonde's attention then was on me and immediately Ciel spoke up.

"Lizzy this is Tarryn, she's my guest, for the time being, she also helps run the manor behind Sebastian"

As per custom in Victorian England, I curtsied to Elizabeth.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, milady," I greeted.

"Oh my gosh, you are so pretty!"

I then found myself being glomped by Elizabeth and I felt myself blush. Sebastian wore a smirk, and while Elizabeth was still hugging me, I gave the demonic butler the finger, which made the others cackle, and Ciel was confused.

Eventually, Elizabeth let me go.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you in person Tarryn, Ciel has said many good things about you and you can call me Lizzy"

Sebastian suggested we go inside and he flashed me a look of disapproval as I walked past him. In turn, I gave him my own smirk, and it wasn't long until I was in the library with Ciel and Lizzy. Lizzy then proceeded to ask a bunch of questions so she could get to know me better.

"I hear you're a jeweler, what's that like?"

Ciel gave me a playful smirk.

"I won't lie, my lady. It's wonderful work, but it also takes time and dedication," I answered honestly. "What I enjoy most is making my customers happy but one must pay attention to what they want"

"Lizzy, there was something I wanted to ask you" Ciel spoke up. The young earl shot me a glance before looking at his cousin. "If you have the time could you possibly teach Tarryn how to fence?"

Using a sword later down the road might be beneficial my dragon advised.

"I don't mind," Lizzy agreed before looking at me. "What about you dear?"

"You'll have to be patient with me, my lady, because I am not accustomed to the blade," I confessed.

I heard Sebastian chuckle and I mentally growled in my mind.

Bastard

You mean a very attractive bastard my other half teased.

Sebastian set down the refreshments before giving Ciel a letter. While Lizzy drank her tea I recognized the seal of Queen Victoria. So something was up and it appeared the Queen's Guard Dog was needed.

"Is her majesty asking of you?" Lizzy wondered seeing the letter.

"Yes," Ciel confirmed. "Something unpleasant is happening throughout London"

"Wait a minute, I think I know what you're talking about," Lizzy continued. "Rumor has it people have been found dead with their blood gone"

That got me to widen my eyes. There was only one creature that was capable of what she was describing and that was a vampire. Vampires existed back in my own time but they kept a low profile.

"It looks like we need to head to London, my lord" Sebastian pointed out.

"Indeed we do" Ciel agreed.

Later.
Ciel's Study

The rest of the visit with Lizzy went well, and on her next visit, my fencing lessons begin. But now the main focus was the task in London. And as I suspected Ciel wanted me to accompany him and Sebastian.

"A vampire is responsible for the killings" I explained to the young earl. "Or perhaps more"

I then shot Sebastian a glance.

"What about you butler? Ever cross paths with one?"

"A few and they can be violent creatures"

"Especially newly sired ones"

"Sired?"

"My apologies my lord but siring is a term used when a vampire turns a human into one of their own, and newly transformed vampires have no control over their bloodlust, normally the vampire who is behind the turning becomes a mentor to the newly turned and teaches them the ways to live as one of the undead" I explained to the earl.

"Whatever the case this threat needs to be eliminated, and another supernatural will make the job more beneficial" Ciel answered.

"I would agree"

I did my best not to blush as Sebastian wore that hot smile of his. Thank god Ciel resumed talking.

"How is a vampire slain?"

"In several ways, my lord," Sebastian responded. "Their main enemy is the sun"

"Not always true," I interrupted, getting both male's attention. "In my time some vampire species can interact with sunlight as long as precautions are taken, if any of those exist here I can't be certain, but you are mostly correct butler the sun is their main enemy"

Sebastian continued telling Ciel the other methods of vampire slaying. Ciel tensed a bit at the mention of death by fire. I shot Sebastian a warning glare. The demon got the message thankfully.

"Alright tomorrow we'll set out for London"

It looks like we'll get to meet the Undertaker, my dragon pointed out.

Now that I was looking forward to it. While most people liked Sebastian or Grell the most, it was the Undertaker in my eyes. I liked people who had a sense of humor. Hence why I didn't have trouble getting along with Finny, Bard, and Mey-Rin.

Theo was the funny one in my family, and damn it, I missed him. I wondered if the results from his latest surgery came back yet.

"Are you alright Tarryn?" Ciel said breaking my train of thought.

"My apologies my mind was on something else"

Ciel nodded and said I could go. As I walked out of the study I felt Sebastian following.

"What butler?" I demanded not liking how close he was.

"If you don't mind me asking, you looked troubled Tarryn"

I stopped and faced the demon.

"I was thinking of my brother, even with dragon-shifter blood he still got cancer"

"I assume cancer is still a very hard disease to fight in your time?"

"It depends, if it's caught early your prospect of survival is high, my brother wasn't so lucky but with chemotherapy his cancer is manageable, before I arrived here he had surgery to remove the cancer that came back"

I explained what chemotherapy was to Sebastian so he could avoid confusion. He then did something I wasn't expecting. He placed a hand on my shoulder and gave me a genuine smile.

"If your brother managed to fight his cancer once, he can fight it again and beat it, my lady"

The demonic butler then excused himself to go about his rounds and I was left stumped at just what happened.

"What the hell?! Did Sebastian actually give you words of reassurance?!"

I jumped to see Finny, Bard, and Mey-Rin looking shocked. My face went red, and I felt embarrassed.

"How long have you guys been watching?!"

"We just came around the corner to see Sebastian put his hand on your shoulder" Finny replied.

"That ain't like him" Bard added. He then smirked. "Maybe he's has a liking to you"

"Pssh yeah, right," I disagreed.

"But your face is all red it is!"

"That's because I'm embarrassed! Duh!"

"What on earth is all the fuss about?"

Great now Sebastian was back. Immediately, the cook, gardener, and maid took off, leaving me still embarrassed with a very confused Sebastian.

"Do they always take off when you come out of nowhere?"

"It depends if they haven't done anything ridiculous"

"Not gonna lie butler you can be an intimidating bastard"

My dragon cackled and Sebastian seemed amused.

"Well my dear I am simply one hell of an intimidating bastard"

I rolled my eyes and went in the direction of my room so I could get off the god-forsaken corset once and for all. And this time I managed to get it off without assistance.
