Summer 1991:

As it happens Aquila did find a bit of Gryffindor in herself before the end of the school year and had spent a couple of times working on her Transfiguration homework with Hermione, hidden in the back of the library. She wasn't so worried when the girl missed their last study session before school was to break for the summer but when she went to inform her aunt, she had already been called by the headmaster and had run off to the third floor.

Now she found herself setted in the library at Hawkhead castle which her Aunt Minerva inherited from the Ross line when her mother passed away. Her mother had taken Draco to America to visit their great grandma Rose as the boy had been close to the woman since the day he was born. As she thought about the family stories, she decided to start looking into the family trees. She knew Mima Rose was on the famous Titanic when she was a teenager, though as far as they knew the man who fathered their grandma Druella was lost in the sinking. In her 12 years she had only heard his name a handful of times, her great grandpa was a man who called himself Jack Dawson.

Flipping through the pages of the Ross family tree she found her aunt had a grandson who shared the same name, though he went missing during the first war after his parents were killed. For a moment she wondered if time magic was involved as it was a prominent branch in the Ross line but she quickly shook her head at this, it was far fetched and she didn't have any proof except that the two man shared the same first and last name. She didn't know what Grandpa Jack looked like and so she couldn't compare it to the pictures she assumed were her cousin around the castle.

After a few hours of searching the brunette decided if she was to figure it out, it would come to her when she needed it. With this in mind she slipped the family books back onto the shelf and went in search of her aunt.

Meanwhile Hermione was at her home in Oxford with her family, it felt odd to be back in the muggle world after spending nearly ten months at Hogwarts. She was grateful to be home as she had missed her parents and family dearly, and also that she did not have to worry about Ron and Harry getting into trouble or getting killed, mostly killed as trouble seemed to follow them though she was concerned about Harry and his living situation though she tried to put trust in the people who placed him there though there was something telling her it was wrong, she tried to ignore it but she felt like there was something missing. She was almost homesick though she was home. It left her wondering if she could truly live a life without magic but that couldn't be the cause of his almost empty feeling, could it? She shook her head, it couldn't be she thought with a sigh. She would try not to think about it over her break, she would enjoy her time with her family.

The young Gryffindor was excited to be able to spend some time with Athena, her little cousin {picture a young Lily Collins}. Though the girl was a few years younger than herself, she was just as stuidous and strived to be like her. Hermione wanted to be able to tell the girl of all her adventures and her new classes but since her cousin didn't have magic and didn't live with her, she wasn't sure if she was allowed and so she didn't mention it to her. Though she did mention Harry and Ron along with Professor McGonagall who had become her favourite over the last year.

It was a family joke how she almost ended up with her cousin for her thrid birthday present, but the girl was born just an hour before midnight and so her birthday was the day before Hermione's.

The summer was spent helping Thea with her school work, or if she had time alone she could be found under a tree in her backyard reading some books she had picked up with her mother after returning from school.

The trip to Diagon Alley was eventful and she tried not to roll her eyes at the man who was to be their Defence Against The Dark arts professor that year. She had hoped to run into Aquila again but when they ran into Draco and Lucius instead, she figured the girl had done her shopping on a different day or had someone order what she needed so she didn't need to fight the crowds.

Hogwarts:

The welcoming feast wasn't something Aquila enjoyed though she tried to ignore Pansy and her comments coming down the table as she watched the next year of students get sorted and wasn't surprised when Ginerva Weasley ended up in Gryffindor and suddenly she felt extrememly worried about Hermione and Harry, even if she never interacted with the Boy Who Lived. Hermione cared about him and that's all that mattered to her though she didn't question it to deeply.

She looked up at the Gryffindor table and saw Hermione looking around worried and she realised Potter and Weasley weren't there, seeing movement at the head table she noticed Professor Snape leave quickly followed by her aunt.

By the next morning she had heard that the boys had flown a car into the Whomping Willow and couldn't help but smirk when she heard the brains of the trio telling them off for being irresponsible and that the tree acted appropriately.

As the year progressed Aquila only got more worried about the trio, though she couldn't give a rats arse about the Wealsey boy. She didn't trust him and felt he wasn't only friends with Harry for his name and fame, though she kept these thoughts to herself not wanting to cause any trouble.

She had noticed that though her brother was a mean to the trio as ever, in private the boy was withdrawn writing in the diary their Mima had given him over the summer. She could sense it was something to do with Harry but she would wait for him to come to her about it, but she knew he didn't hate him and was still hurt at the rejection of friendship especially in favour of a Wealsey of all people.

The day Hermione was petrified Aquila had spent the following weeking in Minerva's chambers wanting to be away from it all. She couldn't help but beam when the girl came running into the feast after Ophelia was killed by Harry and everyone was unpetrified.

That year she didn't get to spend as much time with the Gryffindor girl as she would've liked, but she did pass messages through her aunt who had weekly tea with the girl and that made her feel better and more hopeful that they could be friends in the future despite the divide between them.
