Chapter 25

It was four in the morning when Vox was awoken by a pounding at the door and he checked the cameras to see it was Val and he looked mad. Sighing, he went to answer the door, but Val broke it down, glaring angrily at the television being. "You allowed Angel to escape?!" He yelled.

Quickly zapping himself through a camera in his home, Vox appeared in the hallway and ran back to his room and saw Magic wake up in confusion, but then she heard Val coming and looked afraid. Vox locked the bedroom door and turned to her. "Magic, hide," he said worriedly.

Remembering he had told her about the bed opening in the middle and dropping occupants into a box-like shelter in case of an emergency, she nodded and got into the center of the bed and he got ready to activate it. She reached out and gripped his hand and cupped his face with her free hand. He smiled. "I'll be alright," he said. "Don't come out unless I give you the signal, alright?"

She nodded and kissed him. He kissed her back before watching her disappear as the bed opened up beneath her and she dropped lightly into the shelter box that was bulletproof and soundproof. It was even like a two-way mirror, only disguised cleverly so that no one would know it was there. The bed closed up over her and the vents hidden carefully allowed air in so that she could breathe.

Vox turned and ran for the balcony, pretending to escape when the bedroom door was splintered into pieces. "Traitor!" Val screamed at him as he charged at the television being.

Magic, hearing the shouts, then heard more awful sounds of scuffling and punching. She took a look, but was unable to see much except some feet, though she did see Vox fall down and he looked awful, clutching at his face where she could see his face screen was cracked. A boot kicked his ribs and she heard Vox scream in pain. "You don't deserve to be a Vee!" Val screamed at him.

It seemed like forever before Val and whoever he had brought with him left, but Magic didn't dare hit the release door on the shelter, despite the fact she could see Vox was badly hurt. He managed to turn his head and weakly lifted one hand, doing the hand signal for 'help'.

Magic hit the button that released her from the shelter and she went up to Vox, kneeling beside him, worry on her face. "I'm okay, sweetheart," he said before wincing in pain and passing out.

Just then, his phone in his jacket pocket buzzed and Magic took it out, seeing a video chat with someone called Ozzy. She answered it and was met with the rooster being's face looking surprised. "Who are you?" Ozzy asked.

Instead of speaking, she turned the phone so that he could see Vox's state and he gasped before she turned the phone back to her, her eyes pleading for help. "Sit tight," Ozzy said before hanging up the phone to call someone else.

When Lucifer heard what Ozzy had seen, he granted a pass for the rooster to give to Vox and the dancer. "I had heard Valentino was getting aggressive, but this is too far," he said. "Ozzy, get him out of there."

The large rooster being didn't need to be told twice and he opened a portal to Vox's room, making the dancer jump in surprise and she quickly pulled Vox closer to her protectively. Ozzy gently smiled and kneeled down, placing the pass Lucifer had given him into Vox's shirt pocket and handing her one, which she took hesitantly. "Let's get you two out of here," he said. "Do you have anything you need to pack?"

She titled her head to the side in confusion and he gently smiled. "I'm taking you two to my home, to keep Valentino from getting to you," he explained.

Magic began signing. "We won't be hurt?" She asked.

"No, you'll be safe," Ozzy said reassuringly.

Nodding, the dancer quickly moved, finding her small bag and packing it quickly, everything she owned fitting into the bag just fine. She even checked to make sure her necklace was still around her neck. She then reached under the desk in the room and found Vox's briefcase that he told her was the most important case he'd need if he ever needed to flee. Once she had that and her bag, she turned to Ozzy, who carefully scooped Vox up and Fizz came through the portal. "Everything's ready, big guy," he said before seeing Magic and smiling at her. "Come on. We got a room ready for you."

She shook her head and pointed to Vox before going over and taking his hand. "You want to stay by his side?" Ozzy asked.

The dancer nodded and they headed through the portal, Ozzy gently setting Vox down on the couch while Magic kneeled by him, looking worried as she rested her head on his shoulder. Ozzy noticed this as he began wrapping Vox's wounds.

Oliver came up to them and grew curious. "Dad, what happened?" He signed to Ozzy.

"Someone very dangerous hurt Vox," the rooster being said before looking at the girl. "By the way, we never got your name."

Before she could answer, Angel came in and he froze at seeing Vox. "Val did that to him?" He asked.

"Yes," Fizz said.

The female dancer stood up and looked at Angel with wide eyes before she moved closer and moved her hands in sign language.

"Ton-Ton, is that you?" She asked.

The spider being froze before looking at her. "Only one person calls me that," he said before looking shocked. "Little dancer, is that really you?"

The dancer's eyes lit up and she glomped Angel in a hug and he hugged her just as tightly. "Are you okay?" He asked in worry. "Val didn't hurt you, did he?"

She shook her head. "Vox didn't let him," she said.

"You two know each other?" Fizz asked.

Angel nodded. "Yeah, she's mine and Molly's little sister," he said. "She was unfortunately born mute, but that didn't stop her from wanting to be a dancer. Course our dad wasn't keen on it, but our mom encouraged her."

Just then, Vox groaned and opened his eyes. "Magic?" He called out.

The dancer immediately went to his side, cupping his face and looking relieved. Vox looked relieved and gently grabbed her right hand with his left one. "Magic, Val didn't hurt you, did he?"

She shook her head and hugged him before she began signing. "I was in the shelter under the bed the whole time," she said. "That creep didn't see me."

Angel looked worried. "What happened after you ran away from home?" He asked.

Magic shrugged. "Bad times," she said before looking at Vox, who gently smiled at her.

"You're safe, Magic," he said.

Oliver looked curious and went up to the dancer. "Your name is Magic?" He signed.

She smiled. "My stage name, yes," she signed in reply. "I don't go by my real name and have always used a false name. Vox began calling me Magic and it just stuck."

Angel then noticed that his sister wore the heart locket necklace and he paused. "Where did you get this?" He asked curiously, pointing to it.

She pointed to Vox, who smiled. "I saw her looking at it one day when we went shopping and it seemed to really catch her eye, so I bought it for her," he said before smiling at the dancer. "First time she kissed me since we've been together."

Fizz smiled. "Good observation," he said to Vox.

Angel smiled. "Our mom wore a similar necklace," he said. "After she ran away, little dancer kept in touch with me, Molly, and our mom. We tried to protect her as best we could, but our dad...didn't always understand."

Vox turned to him. "Angel," he said, getting his attention and smiling. "You're looking a lot better since getting away from Val."

"Thanks to you," the spider being said. "Ozzy and Fizz take good care of me." He noticed how his little sister stuck by Vox. "And it looks like my little sister is well taken care of."

"He's been kind to me, Ton-Ton," Magic said.

"I didn't know she was mute," Vox admitted. "I took her silence as her just being shy."

"That's partially it, but yeah," Angel said. "Molly learned sign language and taught me and little dancer so we could communicate."

His little sister looked at him and hugged him before moving back and signing. "I miss Molly," she said.

"I miss her too, kiddo," her brother said.

Ozzy told Vox that he would need some time to recover and he could stay at the palace. Vox thanked him and Angel gave him the big brother talk, telling him to treat Magic right, to which Vox vowed he would.

A few months passed and Vox healed up and it was obvious that he cared deeply for Magic. It wasn't uncommon to see Magic working on a dance routine with Vox watching. "She's good," Fizz said.

"Yes, she is," Vox said with a nod. "I've been considering moving my business to here, but have Magic do dancing videos. Maybe even tutorials."

"That's an idea," the jester said. "You've talked about it with her yet?"

"Not yet," he said. "I'm still debating on the idea."

Just then, he jumped in surprise as Magic sat in his lap, smiling and tugging on his bowtie, giving him puppy eyes. Fizz laughed. "I think she was upset you weren't watching her," he said.

"Sorry, Magic," Vox said, holding her in a hug. "I was talking with Fizz about something."

"Me doing dancing videos?" She signed.

He blinked. "How did you know that?" He asked.

Her shoulders shook in silent laughter. "I'm mute and my hearing is sharp," she signed.

Vox chuckled at her sass and tickled her stomach, making her laugh silently, but both he and Fizz could see the happiness on her face. The television being stopped the tickle torture and Magic smiled up at him before looking at Fizz. "Do you think I can do good on dancing in videos?" She asked.

"You've got the skills and you're really good at dancing," he said. "I don't see why not."

She then perked up and looked at Vox. "What if Ton-Ton joined me in the videos?" She asked. "He's a great dancer too and he can sing."

Vox fell into thought and smiled. If Angel did join his sister in the videos and Val saw it, the moth would be furious that Angel was making someone else famous. "I can run it by him and see what he says," he said.

Angel was on board when he heard about it and it wasn't long before their videos became popular, both siblings dancing and sometimes Angel sang and Magic would translate with sign language. Ozzy even let them do skits at his club and the patrons seemed to enjoy the siblings' acts.

It didn't take long for word to reach Valentino. And he was furious when he saw how successful Vox was and how Angel and his sister were making dance videos that he began trashing everything. Velvette, who had been in the middle of looking at some new designs for her show, saw Valentino come in to her studio enraged and he began tearing everything up. "Hey! Valentino, stop ruining my set!" She said angrily.

"Who cares about your stupid set anyway?!" He snarled. "Vox has Angel and that fairy brat and they are making viral videos! How are they more successful than me?! They can't be!" Valentino roared.

By the time he finished his tantrum and left, Velvette looked at the chaos around her and did her best to not lose her dignity in front of the models. "Everyone...the show is cancelled for today," she said.

They left and Vaxal came in, shocked to see all the destruction. "Velvette," he said, seeing she looked up at him with eyes that were filling with tears. He rushed up to her. "Velvie, what happened?"

She looked up at him, his dark blue coat with one sleeve that had red markings to match his red dress shirt and his dark blue pants and black boots giving him a roguish look that she loved was completed by his dark blue fendora with a red hatband and red feathers. She hugged him. "Val happened, Vax," she said, her voice wobbling as she tried not to cry.

Vaxal grew upset with Val, but then his phone rang and when he heard what had happened, he growled angrily. "Valentino has crossed a line," he said. "Pack up everything and move to Warehouse J. Also, send some of our guys to come grab Velvette's stuff. I'm taking her someplace where Valentino won't be using our stuff as items to break in his temper tantrums."

Vaxal had been hoping that with him and Velvette going on so many dates, Valentino would get the message to stop breaking their stuff. The last time this had happened, Valentino had destroyed some of the weapons that were ready to ship and it had cost the Vees thousands of dollars to replace the weapons that had been destroyed. Velvette had suggested the date nigh then, but now Vaxal was taking matters into his own hands.

He lifted Velvette up to her feet and pulled her into a hug. "Velvie," he said, getting her attention. "We're going to move from this tower to a new one. You'll have five floors dedicated to you for your fashion shows."

"Five?" She asked, stunned.

He nodded. "I've been having the tower built and was going to surprise you, but I think we need to go there and leave this place for good."

She smiled at him, a couple tears falling down her face. "Oh, what would I do without you, my handsome cowboy?"

He smiled and kissed her before they left the building and Vaxal's men got to work moving everything for the couple.

Word soon reached everyone about the two Vees splitting from Valentino and Vox laughed as he heard the news. "I'm glad they did," he said to Ozzy. "Val often broke my things too and it was annoying to get them replaced."

"Think they'll be okay?" Ozzy asked.

"Oh, yeah," the television being said. "They're head over heels for each other. They'll be fine."

Angel and Magic smiled at hearing the news and that night, their dance video with Angel singing a song he wrote about a creep losing everything went viral within the hour.

One night, after a performance, Magic and Angel went backstage, basking in the glow of the cheering as they performed one of their biggest hits, a song and dance about two siblings separated for years before reuniting. "We got to do that one again sometime," Angel said.

Magic nodded and turned around, seeing Vox. She smiled and ran up to him, but in doing so, she tripped over her feet and started to fall, but Vox caught her, dipping her into a dancing dip and she smiled at him, kissing him and he kissed her. Angel smiled and nodded when he saw this. Ozzy and Fizz did too, knowing things were gong to be okay.
