It only took a day for Luz to fully recover her strength. And once she did, she, her mother, and Eda began to carefully plan out how the human witch was going to propose to Amity. It wasn't just them though, everyone was on board with the idea when Luz asked them for help, and promised to keep a tight lip about it. Many different options were considered such as a beautiful evening walk by one of the lakes, a night fly on the knee of the islands, or a camping trip in the nearby woods. In the end however, Luz chose to have a fancy diner just for her and Amity. Hooty immediately took control of the preparations, something the human witch was more than happy to let him do. It was him after all that helped her confess her feelings for Amity in the first place, so it was only appropriate that he helped her propose to her girlfriend as well.
It wasn't easy though. Whenever the purple haired witch wasn't working on the chamber, she was always around Luz, so everyone had to be careful to not make her suspicious. Sometimes Luz would have to take her into town so everyone could work. It was like a huge covert operation, and the human witch was nervous about it the whole time. Thankfully though, Amity never caught on to what she was up to. And within about four days, everything was all set for the big moment, the big moment that was going to happen that night.
Amity had arrived at the owl house after another hard day's work. She was tired, but also pleased. The new and improved chamber was coming along nicely. By her estimates, it should be about twice the size of the original chamber when finished, more than big enough for Luz's wolf form to feel comfortable should she transform again. It was a good day for the purple haired witch, but she didn't realize just how much better it was going to get.
Hooty and King greeted her at the front door wearing bow ties and smiles. The latter was holding a bundle in his arm that, upon getting closer, was revealed to be a folded purple dress. It looked fancy.
"This is for you, ma'am." King said.
"Uhhh, what's going on here?" Amity asked with confusion.
"Luz wanted to thank you for supporting her through these tough times!" Hooty said. "So she set up a fancy dinner just for the two of you! Hoot-Hoot!"
"Oh." The purple haired witch said as she blushed. "That's very sweet of her. Then again, I wouldn't expect any less. Would you mind if I showered first though? I'd rather not have dinner with grease and sweat on me."
"Of course." King said. "Take your time."
"No, I'll try to be quick. I don't want to keep Luz waiting."
"Hmmm. Yeah, good call. We all know how impatient she can be sometimes."
"Sometimes? How about all the time?"
The trio laughed.
….
Amity let out a whistle as she looked at herself in the mirror wearing the dress she was given. It was elegant and beautiful, complete with flower patterns running along the gown, and looked to glow under the light.
"Dang girl, you look good." She said to herself. She made a note to thank Luz twice over as she knew this dress couldn't have been cheap.
Once she was finished doing her hair and applying her makeup, she went to the living room to meet up with Hooty and King. The two then led her down to the basement where she had another surprise waiting for her. The entire room had been converted into a fancy castle-like setting with a chandelier hanging from the ceiling and elegant curtains flowing from the fake windows. There was a table in the center that was seated for two, and Stringbean and Owlbert were finishing up lighting candles to give it that extra touch. Finally, standing next to the table was Luz with a nervous smile on her face.
Amity's jaw dropped. The human witch was wearing a long blue skirt that had sparkles on it, along with a buttoned white undershirt. Over that, she wore a fancy black suit complete with full moon cufflinks. In addition, with some help from her mother, her hair was shiny and wavy on both her head, and her makeup was done just right to make her even more beautiful than she already was. Her tail was also out as she knew how much Amity liked it.
She was absolutely stunning, and it took the purple haired witch several attempts to reboot her brain and speak. "Wow. You look so beautiful."
Luz blushed and chuckled. "Not as beautiful as you, Mi Amor. I was right to call you a goddess."
The purple haired witch went red as well. "Awww Luz, you're just too sweet."
She then looked around and admired the room she was standing in. "Did you do all of this?"
To her surprise, her girlfriend shook her head. "I planned it out, but it was Hooty who set all this up. He came up with the castle setting too."
Amity's eyes widened and she turned to face the house demon, who was beaming.
"Aren't I a genius?" He asked, clearly proud of himself.
The purple haired witch smiled and nodded. "You do know how to come through when it really matters. Thank you, Hooty. I really appreciate it."
"Don't thank me! Luz was the one who planned all this! Speaking of which, I believe you lady awaits you!"
Amity turned back and shyly walked over to the table where her girlfriend brought out her chair for her to sit in.
Titan, she's so polite. She thought.
Once Luz sat down in her own chair, King and Gus came out with some soda (since the couple couldn't drink alcohol just yet), and poured each of them a glass.
"Your dinner will be ready shortly." Gus said with a bow before he and King left.
Amity was amazed at how her girlfriend had gone all out with this, and she couldn't help but feel curious about it. "I really appreciate you doing this, Luz. Why the big fancy diner though? You didn't have to do all of this."
The human witch shook her head. "I would have nothing less for you, Mi Amor. You've helped me so much through the last month, and it makes me feel like the luckiest girl on earth. I wanted to thank you in the best way possible."
Amity smiled widely while holding back tears. "Luz, you're gonna make me smug my makeup."
"I'm sorry, I can't help it. Would talking about the new Azura book coming out help?"
The purple haired witch's eyes got wide like saucers. "There's a new book coming out?!"
Luz gasped "You didn't know?! Oh titan, let me tell you all about it!"
….
The couple spent the next half hour talking tirelessly about the new Azura book, their theories about what was going to happen, and how excited they were for it. Once they started talking to each other, they couldn't stop, and that was one of their favorite parts about their relationship. The only time they paused their conversation was when Willow and Hunter came with their dinners. Camila and Eda had prepared some filet mignon and mashed potatoes for the couple, and they both hummed with delight when they took their first bite. The meat had been cooked to perfection.
"Oh man, this is so good." Amity said. "Remind me to thank your Mom and Eda after this."
Luz nodded. "I need to do that too. I haven tasted meat this good in…well, never!"
Once the awe of how good their dinners were wore off, they went right back to their conversation. They chatted and laughed all through their meal and after it, only pausing to thank Hunter and Willow when they took their plates. They were both really happy and having a great time. Only Luz knew however that the best part had yet to come, and she could feel her heart start to race as the moment drew closer, something that Amity picked up on.
"Are you okay?" The purple haired witch asked. "You look nervous about something."
"Well, desert is coming out soon." Luz replied. "And this is the part I put the most effort into. I really hope that I get it right."
Amity smiled. "Everything tonight has been wonderful, Wolfie. I'm sure this will be no different. Besides, it doesn't have to be perfect. I'm just happy that you're doing this for me."
"You might change your mind when you see it."
"Oh? Is it something really special?"
Luz gave a nervous chuckle and scratched the back of her head. "Yeah, you could say that."
Amity tilted her head. Now she was really curious. What had her girlfriend prepared for her, and why was it making her so nervous?
She didn't have to ponder about it for long as only five minutes later, Raine and Vee entered the room, each carrying a plate with a metal cover on them to hide what was underneath. This made the purple haired witch even more curious. Her dinner didn't have a cover on it, so why the secrecy with desert?
"Enjoy, ladies." Vee said as she and Raine gave the couple their plates before exiting the room.
For a moment, there was silence. Luz didn't make any attempt to remove the cover from her plate. Instead, she twiddled her thumbs nervously and looked up at her girlfriend.
"Go ahead." She said. There was a slight shake in her voice.
Now more confused than ever, Amity reached over and removed the cover, and dropped it as her heart skipped a beat. Sitting on the plate wasn't a slice of cake, a pastry, or any kind of desert she was expecting. It was a small black box that was surrounded by purple flowers. Was this what she thought it was? No, that's a silly question. How could it be anything else? At this point, she was shaking just as much as Luz, and was trying (and failing) to control her breathing.
"Mi Amor?"
She looked up to see Luz had gotten up and was standing next to her, now more nervous than ever.
"W-What is this?" Amity asked, as if she didn't already know the answer.
The human witch took a deep breath before speaking. "Amity, we've been through so much together over the last few years. Getting stuck in the Human Realm, fighting Belos, and now this curse that I have. You saw me at my lowest during all of those things, the times where I was depressed, feeling hopeless, and ready to give up. But no matter what happened, no matter how much you put yourself at risk in doing so, you were always there for me.
"You were there to hold me when I cried. You were there to put a smile on my face when I doubted myself. You even fought by my side against incredible odds. And now you're putting a million percent into helping me live with being a werewolf, even though you know you're risking your life in doing so. While I'll always be grateful for Eda helping me out, it's nothing compared to what you've done."
Luz started to choke, and took a moment to recompose herself before continuing. "You're the reason I'm where I am right now. And while I don't know what the future has in store, what I do know is I want to spend all of it with you. Every last bit of it."
She then picked up the box and got down on one knee. When she opened it, Amity gasped as her tears started flowing down her face. Inside was a beautiful diamond ring that shined as bright as a star. It had a purple band on it too that symbolized it as something that was just for her. But what really cemented that, were Luz's next words.
"Amity Blight, will you marry me?"
The purple haired witch had a smile that was just as bright as the ring itself. She suddenly didn't care that her tears were ruining her makeup. It could make her look like a clown for all she cared. She was the happiest witch in the Demon Realm at that moment.
She couldn't stop crying with joy, so she nodded her head furiously instead. Luz formed an equally big smile as her tail began wagging, and wasted no time in taking her new fiancé's hand and slipping the ring on her finger. The couple then embraced in the most loving and passionate kiss they had ever shared. They were happy the day they officially became a couple, but this was at least ten times that. It was officially the happiest day of both their lives.
When they parted, Amity looked down at the ring on her finger while wiping away her tears.
"Luz, it's…it's perfect." She choked.
"It was my grandmother's." The human witch replied. "She would have wanted me to give it to you."
Amity let out another sob and pulled her new fiancé in for another kiss.
"I love you." She said as they parted.
Luz sniffed and nodded.
"I love you too."
