Emma appeared in her flat, devastated. Regina was furious and she could see it in her eyes. She cried bitterly, never wanting Regina to feel any kind of pain. Lying on her sofa, she thought about the moment they shared in the Rabbit Hole. This feeling of Regina's body slightly pressed against hers. But it was done, there was no turning back anymore.
She was getting angry with herself, at first her plan really seemed good to her, but now everything was a mess. So she decided to call Snow, she needed to talk to someone who always sees the positive in dark times. Even though she was determined to leave, she felt like she should at least let her mother know how she felt and why she would leave.
When Snow arrived, she listened to Emma, with all the patience in the world, trying to understand how Emma came up with this plan of hers in the first place. Not that she agreed with her plan, not at all in fact. But she understood why Emma thought, that if she could make Regina come out of her shell, she could also come out of her own. Realising how much in pain Emma was, broke her heart.
Even though David had told her a while ago that he believed Regina and Emma had feelings for one another, she never thought he could be right. Emma seemed so happy with Killian, but then again only when Regina was around. Hearing Emma out, she understood that there was actually never a real feeling between her and Killian. Not that he didn't try to win her over, but Emma's heart belonged only to Regina.
When she tried to talk to Emma, telling her that giving up should be an option, she should talk to Regina at least. She found nothing but desperation on the other side.
"I don't care, mum. She knows and yet she didn't even blink!"
"Emma, I know Regina. She's tough; I'm pretty sure she's still standing there in shock."
"You know her? That's rich, coming from the girl who practically destroyed her some years ago!"
Emma was angry and lashing out, she saw the pain in Snow's eyes. Nothing would change the fact that she needed to go as fast as possible. She had lost everything. Henry didn't need her anymore and Regina, well she was wrong about that part as well.
"Look, Mom. I'm so sorry. It's just, it feels like my heart is being ripped out, even breathing is hard right now. I am, I will never have, you wouldn't understand how I feel. You have everything and I am stuck in this dark hole."
Snow hugged her daughter, wishing she could take away her pain. There was nothing she could truly do; she felt that Emma was holding back tears and being there with her was all that she could do.
"I think going to New York will be at least a distraction."
"I just wanted you to be happy, Emma. That's all a mother wants for her children."
A small faint smile was on Emma's lips. She loved her mother and would miss her terribly. But the mere thought of having to be close to Regina was too much pain to bear.
She took her luggage and walked towards the door. This would be it, a goodbye forever, at least from her, at least from the pain of not having her.
When she opened the door, she lifted her eyes from the ground. For a moment, she couldn't breathe, forgetting everything around her.
"Regina!"
Standing in front of Emma, seeing the luggage in her hand, made Regina even more angry. How could Emma think of leaving her like this. She had no right to throw a bomb like this in her face and then disappear.
