"Here, for you!" Ran smiled as she handed Shiho a tote bag. "I grabbed some clothes. I hope you like them!"

"Thanks, Mouri-san." Shiho said as she looked in the bag. A pink halter dress, cropped white jacket, and white strappy sandals. "Very…cute."

"Isn't it?" Ran excitedly smiled. "Shinichi told me you like fashion magazines, so I chose something trendy."

Shinichi chuckled. "I thought you didn't want to borrow clothes? I can't imagine you wearing something so girly."

"Oh, Shinichi! Don't listen to him, Ai…er, Shiho-chan!" Ran smiled. "You'll look very nice!"

"Ah, we better leave now!" Shinichi said as he looked down at his watch. "You know how crazy the lines get at Tropical Land."

"Bye Shiho-chan!" Ran waved.

Shiho gave a small nod as she closed the door. She laid the clothes out on her bed, giving them a closer look. 'I'm not sure if it'll look good on me, but they're better than this old thing…' She thought as she changed.

Shiho looked in the mirror, examining her figure in her new clothes. She tied her hair up in a half ponytail to complete the look.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Did you forget something, Kudo- Oh, Furuya-san." Shiho said as she opened the door. "I didn't expect you here so soon."

Rei stared at Shiho for a moment, surprised by her lively attire. He smiled. "Very cute outfit!"

Shiho blushed, looking down. "Th-thanks…Anyways…why did you want to visit today?"

"Well, since it's your first day as yourself again, I thought you should enjoy it! It's my treat, whatever you want."

"Hmmm, since you're paying…" She smiled. "You said whatever I want, right?"

Rei gave a small smirk, raising an eyebrow. "Where would you like to go?"

meow~

"I must say, I'm surprised this was your first choice." Rei said as he pet a nearby cat.

"Well, most cat cafes around here don't allow kids below 10 years old, so I couldn't go before." Shiho explained as she fed a small calico a treat.

"That's true. I was just expecting you to go for something more extravagant I guess."

"Oh, this is just the start." Shiho grinned. "I hope all that undercover work paid well."

'Oh boy…' Rei chuckled. "So, is there anything else you missed being able to do as an adult?"

"Well, I didn't have that much to miss in my old life…" Shiho frowned. "But I guess I do miss riding my motorcycle. I used to own a Harley back then."

"Oh ho… This cutie has an edgy side, huh?"

"She ALSO has an expensive taste… so watch who you're calling cutie." Shiho hissed.

"My bad." Rei chuckled. "I take it you're a fan of animals as well?" he asked as a kitten jumped in Shiho's lap.

"Mm." She nodded, smiling softly as the kitten purred.

'I should introduce her to Haro sometime…' Rei thought to himself.

Rei stretched his arms out as they walked out of the cafe. "So, what do you want to do next?"

"Over there." Shiho pointed across the street.

"The convenience store?" Rei questioned as they began crossing the street. "If you're hungry, we can go to a restaurant. Or are you afraid it'll feel like we're on a date?" He smirked.

Shiho rolled her eyes. "The new issue of ComCom magazine is out. I wanna get it since we're here anyway."

"Don't worry, I'm only joking."

"Of course you are…" Shiho grumbled. Something about the word 'joking' stung, but she would never admit that in a million years.

"Did you say something?"

"Nope, nothing!" Shiho exclaimed as the automatic doors opened.

The two began browsing the magazine rack. Shiho carefully looked over to see what Rei was reading.

'A food magazine?' She thought to herself.

"I like the articles in this one." Rei explained. "They have pretty unique recipes and tips."

"I-I didn't ask!" Shiho looked away.

'Yeah, not verbally…' Rei chuckled to himself. "So, what made you interested in fashion magazines?"

"Well… I was always stuck in a lab coat for most of my days. And I felt controlled all the time so… I guess it was a way to find my own sense of expression."

"Mm…" Rei nodded.

"What about you?" Shiho asked as she flipped through the magazine. "What made you interested in cooking?"

"Ah, to be honest… I used to be really bad at it!" Rei chuckled. "But an old friend of mine taught me, and I got really into it." He sighed, remembering the times with Hiromitsu.

This didn't get lost on Shiho, who thought about the people she missed herself. "You know… I cook a little bit for the professor and the kids, but I'm no expert. Maybe you could teach me some recipes?"

Rei smiled, happily nodding. "Sure! And maybe you can help me next time I go clothes shopping."

"Yeah, you're gonna need it." Shiho smirked.

"Huh? What's wrong with this?" Rei pouted, looking down at his light green polo shirt and jeans.

"Nothing, I guess…" She said as she scanned the magazine rack. "But adding subtle details can really make a difference." She handed him an issue of Men's Style magazine. "Like, this person is also wearing a polo shirt and jeans, but the way it's fitted and accessorized makes it look more interesting, don't you think?"

"I see..." Rei said as he looked at the image. He looked back at Shiho. "So, what colors do you think would suit me?"

"Hmm…" Shiho hummed as she looked Rei up and down, making him feel a bit shy. "I think teal would look really nice on you."

"Teal, huh? And what colors do you like? Pink?" He asked, pointing at her dress.

"Oh, this?" Shiho said as she fixed her skirt. "I actually prefer red. I'm just borrowing this from someone, since I kinda grew out of my usual clothes..." She chuckled.

"Well, in that case, I know our next stop!" Rei exclaimed as he purchased the magazines.

The two ended up in a crowded shopping district.

"So, anything here piques your interest?" Rei asked.

Shiho scanned the area, and her eyes widened with excitement. She grabbed Rei's wrist and led him to an accessory shop.

"Fusae brand accessories…" Rei read the sign as they entered the store.

"What a lovely couple!" One of the clerks commented. "Do you need help finding something for your girlfriend?"

"Just looking, thank you though!" Rei smiled.

"Why would she think I'm dating you?" Shiho mumbled in an annoyed tone. "She should really have more tact."

"Um… probably because of this." Rei said as he lifted up his hand, which Shiho was still holding.

"Oh…" She looked away as she pulled back her hand.

"It's pretty crowded here since it's a weekend. We should keep holding hands, so you don't get lost." He teased as he rubbed her head.

"I'm not a kid!" Shiho sighed.

"Yeah, not anymore!" Rei laughed.

RING RING

"Hm?" Shiho pulled out her phone to check who was calling.

"What's up, Kudo-kun?"

"Hey… So my Mom just told me she and Dad are on their way to visit. She said she really wants to take you and I out shopping tomorrow. Are you free?"

"Hmm… I guess I'm free tomorrow…" Shiho glanced over at Rei, who was browsing some scarves. "But wouldn't you want to take your girlfriend instead?"

"Ran has karate practice all day tomorrow. Besides, my mom said she really wants to see you! To be honest, I think she's excited to have someone play dress up with her. What do you say?"

"Sure." Shiho shrugged. "Talk to you tomorrow."

CLICK

"Who was that?" Rei asked.

"Just Kudo-kun. We're gonna go shopping together tomorrow."

"Ouch, I'm not good enough?" Rei said, feigning hurt, or at least he thought he was feigning.

"Didn't expect you to be the jealous type, Furuya-san." Shiho smirked. "I'm gonna check out the bags." She said as she walked across the store.

Shiho browsed the purses for a little bit, humming to the music playing.

"Sherry, wasn't it?" An unfamiliar voice caught Shiho's attention.

"Eh?" Shiho panicked, looking around. 'Wh-who said that?!'

Her heart started pounding as she tried to identify the voice.

"In the cake your sister made us." A nearby customer was talking to his friend. "She put Sherry in it to give it that flavor, right? It was really good!"

'Oh…it wasn't…' Shiho sighed in relief. She huddled to a corner of the store, trying her best to hide her face. 'What am I doing here? I know they said the organization is gone, but still…'

...

'I didn't realize how late it's already gotten…' Rei thought as he checked the time. He started to walk back to Shiho from the register. "Miyano-san, do you wanna grab something to eat? I know a really good Indian restaurant nearby!"

Shiho didn't respond, distracted by her own thoughts. She paced around the store, until she felt a hand pat on her shoulder.

"Do you not like this?" Rei frowned, surprising Shiho. "Do I make you uncomfortable? You look unhappy…"

"Ah… no, I'm fine, I'm just not used to it… hanging out, doing stuff like this..." Shiho mumbled. 'Why do I feel so scared? There's no one here to hurt me. I want to enjoy my life too, like Kudo-kun…' She took a deep breath.

'I can do it too!'

She suddenly looked up at Rei, trying to hold back the redness she felt rushing to her face. "I like being with you, it makes me happy!" 'Ugh, why did I say it like that?' She thought to herself, not noticing the slight blush on Rei's cheeks.

"Let's go eat! You mentioned a restaurant nearby?" Shiho said before he had a chance to respond. "Since it's YOUR treat after all."

"Of course!" Rei chuckled.

The two headed to the exit. Rei carefully put a gift-wrapped item securely in his jacket pocket, making sure Shiho didn't notice.

.

.

.

"Welcome to Dondy! What can I get for you two?"

"I'll have a medium spicy chicken curry, please." Rei said. "What about you, Miyano-san?"

"Mm, I'll have the same." Shiho said as she handed the menus to the waitress.

"Excellent choice! It'll be out shortly."

"I come here often with my colleague, Kazami. It's really delicious!" Rei said. "I like to have it with leek whites to balance out the flavor."

"I didn't know there was a place like this in the area." Shiho commented, looking around the restaurant.

"I should show you some other favorite places of mine in the future."

"That's no good, Furuya-san." Shiho sighed. "You should save that stuff for something special, like a date."

"We should make it a date next time?" Rei said nonchalantly, tilting his head. "I must say, I'm surprised you asked. I thought you were more of a tsundere type."

"I didn't mean me!" Shiho blurted out. "I meant in general!"

"Ah, I see!" Rei laughed. "My mistake."

"And I am not a tsundere!"

"Um… I have your chicken curries.." The waitress said, awkwardly holding two plates.

"Oh… thank you…" Shiho said as the waitress placed the two dishes down.

"Enjoy!"

"You just love poking fun at me, huh." Shiho grumbled as she scooped some curry and rice together.

"Oh, come now." Rei said as he put a leek on top of Shiho's spoon. "You like to tease too."

Shiho didn't respond, simply taking a bite of her food.

"Mm, this really is good!" She said as she grabbed more leeks from the container.

"Isn't it?" Rei smiled, digging into his food as well.

Rei discussed a bit about his childhood with Elena, and his police adventures with his friends. Shiho talked about some of the rare moments she had with her sister, and the cases she's had with Shinichi and the Detective Boys.

It had a melancholic feeling, knowing that neither of them could return to those days. But it was also freeing, being able to relish in the happy memories they were able to experience.

.

.

.

The two had finished their meal, and Rei was driving Shiho home. He stepped out to open the door for her, helping her out of the car.

"Thanks, Furuya-san…" Shiho said as she got out. "I had quite a bit of fun today."

"I'm glad to hear it!" Rei smiled.

Shiho gave a small wave goodbye, and turned to her house.

"Ah, Miyano-san, you forgot this!" Rei celled out as he tossed her a small wrapped item.

"What's this?" She questioned as she unwrapped it.

"Well, you said you liked red, right? I got it from that store earlier." Rei grinned as he saw her eyes widen.

"You got this for me?" She said as she held up the gift. It was a red scarf with a beautiful gingko pattern.

"Mm." Rei held the scarf as well, making their hands touch. "I thought it would look nice on you…allow me."

Shiho looked away shyly as he took the scarf, putting it around her neck.

Rei tugged on the scarf, making her step ever so closely to him. "It makes me happy as well. Being with you…" He whispered as he gently tied it.

Their faces were close together, but before Rei could pull away, Shiho held his collar, bringing them even closer.

Rei was surprised by this bold move, but didn't dare move an inch. Shiho leaned in close, and he began to close his eyes…

"It's like you said." Shiho whispered, suddenly pushing him back. "I like to tease too."

The young woman turned away, waving as she headed back into her home.

"Good night, Furuya-san!"

Rei smiled as a blush lingered on his cheeks.

"Good night, Miyano-san!"

.

.

.

"Ah, Shiho-kun, welcome back!" Agasa greeted her. "Did you have a good day?"

"More or less…"

"Were you out with Furuya-san?" Agasa gasped. "Was it a date?!"

"Ara, since you're so busy asking silly questions, I guess I'll just toss the food I brought home for you." Shiho said, holding up a to-go bag above the trash can.

"Wa-wait! That smells so good…I was just kidding!"

.

.

.

Rei made it back home. Tossing his keys on the table, he went to his desk to complete a bit of computer work. He smiled as his dog, Haro, lay next to him.

After washing up, he crawled into his bed and pulled out the Men's Style magazine he bought earlier. 'I wonder…' He thought to himself while flipping through the pages.

'Are we really just teasing?'

I really enjoyed writing this chapter, so I hope you all enjoyed reading it! I love this pairing so much, and it makes me happy to see others ship them as well :D

*Fun fact: In real life, they actually did release official Fusae Campbell brand merchandise, including a scarf! Except it didn't look like the one I described.

**Also, Dondy is a restaurant featured in one of the episodes of Zero's Tea Time (Rei's spinoff show). Does anyone else here watch that anime? I think it's pretty cute!

Anyways, please let me know what you think, and thanks for reading!
