"Breathe in….breathe out…" Shiho said as she placed a stethoscope on Shinichi's chest.
The two were in Agasa's living room, the morning of Big Osaka's soccer game.
"Looks good!" Shiho hummed as she jotted down some notes. "It should be okay to do more intense exercise now."
"Someone's in a good mood." Shinichi said as he spun in his chair. "Excited to see Higo on the field?"
"Of course." She smiled brightly. "By the way, did you remember your letter?" Shiho asked as she pulled out two envelopes. "Agasa-hakase said he's going to give it to the kids later today."
Shinichi smiled as he pulled out a piece of paper. "Right here!"
Shiho carefully read the letter, letting out a small laugh. "Pfft…you might want to redo that signature, Kudo-kun…"
"Eh? Why?" Shinichi looked back at the paper, widening his eyes. It was signed off as Kudo Shinichi. "Shoot! Good thing I wrote it in pencil…" He chuckled.
"Be more careful next time…" Shiho sighed as she handed him an eraser.
"Yeah, yeah…Hey what's with your letter?"
"What do you mean?"
"It's so many pages! What did you even write about?" He asked as he took a peek at the different pages. "Woah, you wrote a letter for each of them? Soccer, food, the latest Kamen Yaiba episode…Geez, I just wrote one letter for them to read together."
"I also have these for them…" Shiho grinned as she held up some Kamen Yaiba stickers, placing them in her envelope.
"Oi oi, are you trying to show me up?"
"Don't be jealous, Kudo-kun, just because they'll like my letter better." Shiho smirked as she snatched the pages back.
"Eh?! Maybe I should write a little more…"
KNOCK KNOCK
"It's me!" A voice called out from the other side.
"Dad?" Shinichi said curiously. "It's open!"
"Ah, I'm glad I was able to catch you before you headed out!" Yusaku smiled as he walked up to Shiho.
"Eh? Me?"
"Mm." Yusaku nodded. "We didn't get to have a proper introduction last week when Hattori-san and Toyama-san were visiting. I wanted to thank you for taking care of my son all this time…" Yusaku looked over at Shinichi, who was vigorously writing in his letter to the kids.
"Thank me?" Shiho furrowed her eyebrows. "To be honest, I thought you might dislike me. It's my fault that your son shrunk after all…"
"Of course not." Yusaku shook his head. "If it weren't for that drug, they would have really killed Shinichi. Besides, I think everything worked out for the better, don't you think?" He smiled. "I know you've been through a lot, Miyano-san, so feel free to come by if you have anything on your mind. My wife has taken quite a liking to you, so don't be a stranger, okay?"
"Okay…" Shiho looked down shyly.
"Ah, speaking of my wife..." Yusaku said as he handed her a shopping bag. "Yukiko asked me to bring this to you."
Shiho peeked inside. It was a makeup pouch filled with cosmetics.
"She said she wanted to 'provide you some ammo'? I don't really know what that means…" He shrugged. "I think she put a note in there as well."
Shiho held up a small slip of paper. It read:
Dear Shiho, use this next time for a boost in confidence! Good luck!
"What is she wishing you luck for?" Shinichi asked as he read the note over Shiho's shoulder.
"P-probably for job interviews…" Shiho blushed. "Thank you for this."
"It's my pleasure." Yusaku nodded. "I better head back now, you kids have fun!"
"We better get going too." Shiho said as she looked at the time on her phone.
"About that…" Shinichi grinned. "There's some others we need to wait for."
"Eh?" Shiho raised an eyebrow. "Who?"
KNOCK KNOCK
"We're here!" A group of kids in soccer jerseys called out.
Shinichi rushed to open the door. "Right on time! Come in guys!" He smiled.
"Thanks for the tickets, Shinichi-niisan!" Ayumi smiled.
"Huh? Why are you kids here?" Shiho blinked in confusion.
"Ah, you're the nice lady that rescued us from the cabin!" Mitsuhiko ran up to Shiho. "Thank you for saving us back then!"
"I don't understand…" Shiho tilted her head.
"Huh? What's happening?" Genta asked.
"Geez Genta, you already forgot?" Ayumi sighed.
Shinichi kneeled down to Genta. "Conan sent me that video Mitsuhiko took, asking if I could help find the woman that saved you guys from the cabin fire. I instantly recognized her!" Shinichi explained as he gestured towards Shiho.
"She's actually my friend, and we've solved many cases together. She's also a soccer fan, so I thought we could go to the game together!"
"Nice to meet you." Shiho smiled. "I'm Miyano Shiho."
"Nice to meet you, Shiho-neesan!" The kids cheered.
"Well, let's get going, we need to catch the train." Shinichi said.
The kids rushed out the door. Shiho and Shinichi walked behind.
"See?" Shinichi whispered to Shiho. "I told you we'd keep in touch with the kids. Now we can stay close to them, even in this form."
Shiho smiled, watching the three kids happily chatting together.
"Thank you, Kudo-kun…"
.
.
.
The group sat together in the stadium, waiting for the game to start. Shinichi went to the concession stand to get drinks for everyone.
"Are you excited for the game, Shiho-neesan?" Ayumi asked.
"Mm!" Shiho nodded. "Higo was injured during the last game, so I'm excited that he's able to play this time. Big Osaka has to win, now that he's there."
"Ah, you're a Higo fan too, Shiho-neesan?" Mitushiko looked over at her. "Just like Ai-chan!"
"Yeah, you kind of look like her too!" Genta said.
"What are you guys talking about?" Shinichi asked as he handed them sodas.
"How Shiho-neesan is a lot like Ai-chan!" Ayumi explained. "Hey, why don't we call Ai-chan right now? She will be so happy to know we found the lady who saved us!"
"That's a great idea!" Mitsuhiko smiled as he pulled out his phone.
"No!" Shinichi yelled. "Don't call her."
"Eh? Why not?" Genta frowned.
"Because….Because…"
"The time zone." Shiho chimed in. "She's probably sleeping right now, we shouldn't disturb her."
"Okay…" They sighed.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you all will have plenty of time to tell her later." She winked.
The group all sat back down in their seats.
"Nice assist, Miyano." Shinichi smirked. "Here, take this. They were selling them near the concession area."
"A jersey?" She said as she held up the shirt.
"Yeah, we can't wear our old ones, so I thought it would be nice to have." He smiled.
"By the way, Miyano... How are you doing, being out in public and all?" Shinichi asked. "You aren't nervous or anything right?"
"It was a little uncomfortable at first, to be honest. But it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be... Why do you ask?"
"Ah, no reason!" He chuckled nervously as he slipped the jersey over his shirt.
She narrowed her eyes for a second, putting the jersey over her shirt as well.
"Ah, we all match now!" Mitushiko smiled, pointing at their jerseys.
Shiho smiled back at the kids.
"We do, don't we?"
.
.
.
The game had ended, and the group walked back to Agasa's house.
"Higo was amazing, the way he scored that last goal!" Ayumi exclaimed.
"You were right Shiho-neesan! Big Osaka was able to win!"
"Of course, Higo is the best after all." Shiho grinned.
"And it was so funny, watching Shinichi-niisan as well." Ayumi laughed.
"Eh, why?" Shinichi tilted his head.
"The way you got so into the game, it was just like Conan-kun!"
"That's true, his face looked just like Conan!" Genta laughed. "He's such a dork when it comes to soccer."
"Oi oi…"
.
.
.
The group arrived back at Agasa's house.
"Welcome back! How was the game?" Agasa smiled.
"It. Was. Awesome!" Ayumi cheered. "We had so much fun, right guys?"
The kids nodded together.
"Agasa-hakase…" Genta mumbled. "Is there any mail for us yet?"
"As a matter of fact, two letters came in while you all were at the game!" Agasa handed the envelopes to Shiho and Shinichi. "Could you pass these to the children, please?"
Shiho and Shinichi smiled at each other.
"Here you go!"
"Our letters are here!" Genta exclaimed as quickly opened the envelopes. "Look, Haibara-san gave us Kamen Yaiba stickers!"
"Wait, we wanna see too!" Mitsuhiko said as he held a paper.
The kids began happily reading the letters together.
.
.
.
"I'm so happy." Ayumi smiled. "This really was a great day."
"I'm glad you all had fun." Shiho smiled. "I hope we can spend time together again."
"Really? We can see each other again?" Mitsuhiko exclaimed.
"Sure, why not?"
The kids all smiled at each other.
"Ah, one more thing…" Ayumi held out her phone. "Hakase, can you take a photo of us all together?"
"I'd be happy to! Why don't we take it outside, with the sunset in the background?"
Shinichi, Shiho, and the kids huddled outside. They held up peace signs and big smiles, with the pinkish-orange sky glowing against them.
One…two…three…"
CHEESE!
.
.
.
The kids headed home and Shinichi and Shiho were resting on the couch.
"What a day…" Shinichi sighed.
"I'm glad you all were able to spend some time with the kids." Agasa smiled. "By the way, Shiho-kun, what was that restaurant you brought takeout from last time?" He asked as he was texting someone on his phone.
"Oh, that was Dondy's."
"Dondy's?" Shinichi asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"That's a pretty new restaurant, when did you go there?"
"I went the other day with R…Furuya-san."
Shinichi had a sly smirk on his face. "Oh ho…Furuya-san, huh?"
"Yeah, is that a problem?" She huffed.
"Not at all…" He grinned.
RING RING RING
"Hm?" Shiho and Shinichi looked at their phones. The kids were calling Conan and Ai.
"O-oi! Hakase, bring the bowtie over!" Shinchi called out.
"We did say they should call later…" Shiho sighed.
"I only have one…" Hakase huffed, tossing it to them. "I'll have to make it one for Shiho-kun…"
"When you do, please don't make it a lame bow tie." She yawned.
"Shh! I'm answering the phone!" Shinchi hushed. "And what do you mean lame?!"
Shiho answered her phone, snatching the bowtie from Shinichi. "Hi everyone! Did you get our letters?"
"Hi Ai-chan! We did, thank you for the stickers!"
"Yeah, you even wrote a letter for each of us! Conan only wrote one, he's so lame!" Genta laughed.
"I can hear you, you know!" Shinichi groaned.
"Huh? Conan-kun, your voice sounds really deep…"
"Ah…" Shinichi grabbed the bowtie, quickly fixing the settings. "I have a cold, that's all…"
Shiho giggled. "So, did you guys do anything fun today?"
"We sure did!" They said in unison.
"Really? Tell us all about it…" Shiho and Shinichi smiled.
.
.
.
The group ended up talking on the phone for a couple hours.
The children fell asleep eventually. Shiho and Shinichi decided to turn in for the night as well.
"Thanks for everything, Kudo-kun." Shiho said as she opened the door for him.
"Same to you." Shinichi smiled. "I know how hard you worked on that antidote. It must have been stressful."
"Well, luckily I did have some help…"
He grinned. "From Furuya-san?"
Shiho looked away. "That's right, what of it?"
Shinichi shook his head. "Oh, nothing…" He paused for a moment, looking at the young woman.
"Hey, Miyano…" He hesitated. "I really am sorry about…you know…I should have told you about Subaru-I mean, Akai-san…"
Shiho let out a small sigh. "Don't worry about it." She poked his head. "All is forgiven."
"Somehow, you seem to have gotten nicer." He chuckled.
"Naturally!" She put her hands on her hips. "It's impossible to be in a bad mood when Higo had such a good game."
"Oh? I was thinking it might be because of a different tan guy…" Shinichi mumbled.
"What was that?"
"Nothing, have a good night Miyano!" He waved goodbye.
Shiho waved as she closed the door, and headed off to her room.
.
.
.
Shiho pulled out her phone as she laid in bed, looking at the photo Ayumi sent in the Detective Boys group chat. It was the photo they all took together in their soccer jerseys.
She smiled as she made the photo her new wallpaper.
Her eyes slowly closed as she drifted off to sleep, with a lingering thought in the back of her mind.
'I wonder how Rei's day was today?'
