I'm sorry about the late updates but I'm trying to get back into them now!
Ever since beating Surge at the gym, Brooklyn had decided to at least have a few days to rest up at the center even turning to stone a couple times in the sunlight for his solar energy.
When breaking out of his stone sleep, Brooklyn turned to his Charmander who gave a small yawn, looking up in Brooklyn's direction who chuckled, petting his Pokémon's head. "Well little guy, shall we keep on going? We gotta get to Fuchsia City to find the next gym leader."
Charmander nodded, hopping. "Char, Char!" He squeaked, hopping onto Brooklyn's shoulders. Straddling his bag of his Pokémon, Brooklyn began to head out of the Pokémon Center after saying goodbye to Nurse Joy.
When they were finding their way out of the city, Brooklyn suddenly spotted something strange in an alley which looked like a Pokémon to him. His eyes widened at the sight of the dark fox looking one who was chasing after a strange looking pair of humans in white shirt and pants with the letter R on it, all of them screaming including a cat looking Pokémon.
"Whoa, what is that?" Brooklyn asked in awe, pulling out his Pokédex. "There's no info on this Pokémon since I only identify the Pokémon in the Kanto region." His Dex said much to Brooklyn's disappointment then noted the cat one. "Then what about this one?"
"Meowth, the cat Pokémon. Meowth have sharp claws and quick agility. This particular Meowth is a member of the notoriously known Team Rocket, a group of Pokémon thieves." Dexter responded, Brooklyn frowning. He decided he would follow this group, and find out what they have been up to.
Brooklyn summoned Charmander into his Pokeball and started to run on all fours. If this new Pokémon was chasing this Team Rocket then they must have been up to no good. But first, Brooklyn will catch Team Rocket himself and figure out their plot, recalling Officer Jenny mentioning this group to him.
Some time later they reached the edge of the city, Brooklyn throwing a Pokeball at the new fox/cat one hoping it was wild. "I'll catch you, whatever you are!"
But the fox Pokémon grunted, blocking the Pokeball from calling it inside, glaring hard at Brooklyn who halted in his tracks, chuckling nervously. "Uh, hi. Guess you already belong to someone, huh?"
The Pokémon nodded. "Zoura!" It called grumpily, its head turning to the direction of Team Rocket. Brooklyn heard that word the Pokémon spoke, and realized it was also saying it's name. "Ok, er, Zoura. Maybe I can help? I'm not part of Team Rocket, I promise."
Zoura tilted its head warily until eventually nodding, going on its way but letting Brooklyn follow. Brooklyn pulled out his Spearow. "Spearow, take them down for us!" He called, throwing the ball.
"Spearow!" Shrilled the bird, soaring into the air, glaring hard at Team Rocket before diving down, pecking at the one with the red hair.
She began to scream out, dropping something she held in her hands which happened to be a strange egg. The Meowth with them noticed, pointing in urgency. "The egg you idiots! We're losing it! Meowth!"
James, the male, smacked Spearow hard out of the way who cawed loudly, flying back to Brooklyn who saw the egg rolling away, quickly diving after it, grabbing it in his talons before breaking, panting. "Good work Spearow…" He said to his stunned Spearow who cawed weakly back.
The girl with James saw their newcomer with Zoura looking furious. "Alright, whatever you are, give us that Pokémon egg back right now! We worked hard to get it!" She snarled.
Brooklyn's eyes flashed white, holding it close, Zoura next to him. "If you think I'm gonna hand over this egg to thieves like you, you're facing the wrong gargoyle!" He growled back.
James couldn't help the grin. "Then you must not know who we are. Jessie?"
The red head woman smirked, as they prepared their speech. "Prepare for trouble!" She got into her pose.
James nods, holding a rose in his hands. "Make it double!"
Brooklyn blinked, wondering what was happening now.
Jessie did a twirl. "To protect the world from devastation!"
James nodded. "To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!" Jessie said.
James raised his hands in the air in a dramatic manner. "To extend our reach to the stars above!"
Then the two leaned back to back against each other. "Jessie!" "James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!" Jessie said.
James gave Brooklyn a taunting look. "Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
Brooklyn saw the Meowth stand in the middle, smiling. "Meowth! That's right!" That caused him to stare. A Pokémon who speaks English?
"B-What… you-you talk?" Brooklyn stuttered in his shocked state, Meowth rolling his eyes. "Ya must be a stupid newbie if you haven't seen me talk, Meowth."
Hearing the Pokémon call him stupid made Brooklyn's blood boil. "I'm not stupid! I am Brooklyn of the Manhattan Gargoyle clan, and I am training to be a Pokémon Master! I'll fight you two to protect this egg!" He snapped, clutching the egg gently against him.
Jessie laughed. She had heard of gargoyles but not of one with Pokémon. "You're a stupid young one to think that way. We've trained two of the best in battle. Ekans, I choose you!" She threw her Pokeball, a purple snake popping out, hissing menacingly.
"And me. Koffing, go!" James summoned a large ball Pokémon with bumps all over it, a dopey smile on its face. "Koffing!" It called out.
Meowth folded his arms. "You forgot Meowth!" He snapped, Jessie smacking him hard. "You're about as useless as a Magikarp!"
Brooklyn frowned, having learned about these two before and both being poison Pokémon. He had to be careful. Zoura looked up at him in worry, making him smile back down. "I got this little guy, don't worry."
He pulled out Charmander. "So, Two on Two? I can take it! Charmander, Squirtle, I choose you!"
Both of them came out in battle stances. Jessie glared. "Ekans, poison sting!"
Ekans charged, shooting out its poison stingers, Charmander and Squirtle jumping out of the way. "Squirtle, water gun!" Squirtle shot his blast at Ekans which stopped the sting attack, Ekans shrieking when getting hit.
"Koffing, Sludge Attack!" James shouted. Koffing let loose a splatter of sludge that wound up smacking Charmander in his eyes, making him yelp in pain, falling to the ground, his vision obscured and stinging.
Brook gasped, kneeling down near him. "Charmander!" He called, his Pokémon whining weakly, struggling to see. He glared hard at James, drawing out another Pokeball. "That's it, you two are going down!" He roared, tossing the ball, and summoning Vulpix.
"Vulpix!" His fox Pokémon shrilled, getting into battle stance. "Flamethrower!" Brooklyn commanded, Vulpix shooting a spout of flame in Team Rocket's direction.
Meowth's eyes widened, knowing what this meant. "Gaah! Meowth!" He shrieked, James and Jessie both screaming, the flame blast hitting them, sending the trio flying into the sky. "Team Rocket's blasting off again!" They all screamed, a ding of light appearing in the sky.
Brooklyn stared up at them disappearing, Zoura swishing its tail in happiness from defeating the evil group. He grinned down at the new Pokémon until another voice, a female's came.
"Midnight! Oh, you're safe!" Brooklyn turned around nervously, still holding the egg and keeping Charmander near who was still blinded by the sludge. He saw a young girl come out who had brown black hair and violet colored eyes.
Brooklyn tensed, feeling worried about the girl rebuking him for his looks as he saw the Zoura hop into the girl's arms. The girl looked up, seeing the egg being held by Brooklyn.
"Who are you? Are you the one who stopped Team Rocket?" The girl asked.
Swallowing, Brooklyn nodded his head, eyes shy. "Uh, yeah. I couldn't let them hurt the egg." He said, stepping forward and handing it over to her. The girl took it, looking grateful.
"Thank you so much uh, whatever you are. My name is Rosa. What is yours?" Rosa asked.
The red gargoyle feeling more confident replied back. "It's Brooklyn. And these are Charmander and Squirtle." Rosa saw that Charmander looked hurt, pulling out a cloth with something that helps with Koffing's attacks, rubbing along Charmander's eyes.
Soon Charmander felt his vision return, giving her his usual smile. "Char!"
Brooklyn was stunned at how skilled Rosa was at treating his Pokémon. "Whoa, thanks." He said. Rosa smiled, shrugging. "I just like to help Pokémon but I am also on my way to the Indigo League. What about you? What's your story?"
Swishing his tail, Brooklyn explained his story to Rosa who listened. She was amazed that there were creatures like Gargoyles who existed. "Wow, it's cool that you're training to get into the Pokémon League. Maybe we'll be competing against each other."
Brooklyn nods. "Maybe we will. But your Zoura. Why isn't she in her Pokeball?"
Rosa glanced down at Midnight. "She doesn't like going into any Pokeball. I suppose Midnight just likes to be out in the open more. But…" Rosa looked at the egg in her hands. "Brooklyn. Since you protected this egg so well, I had been thinking that you can be the one who holds onto it. Care for it."
The red gargoyle's eyes rounded from this gesture, looking from the egg to her. "Are-are you sure? I mean, what kind of Pokémon is this one?"
Rosa rubbed it. "A Shiny Eevee. Eevee is one of the Evolution Pokémon who has many different form choices. And when a Pokémon is a Shiny, it can have stronger powers than the normal kind. I know the Eevee will be good in your hands."
She handed the egg back to Brooklyn who hesitated for a moment, then took it, gently handling the egg, unable to find out what to say. Little tears came into his eyes knowing he would be able to experience raising a child of sorts even if it wasn't a Pokémon or finding a mate. "Thank you Rosa. I never thought I would actually hold a Pokémon egg."
Rosa nods. "I hope we come across each other along the way to the League and maybe even have a friendly battle. I am on a quest too to find Legendary Pokémon." She opened up a book from her bag, showing Brooklyn different Legendaries he had never seen before which amazed him.
Soon he took her hand, the two new rivals shaking each other. "Good luck on your journey Rosa. And it was nice meeting your Pokémon Midnight." He said, smiling down at the Zoura. Brooklyn put the egg carefully into his backpack, waving to his new friend as the two went on their separate paths, hoping they would see each other again, Brooklyn feeling glad to have gained a friend and a Pokémon egg.
New OC suggested to me by a friend. Hope you like her.
