Chapter 1

Welcome to College

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Scooby-Doo or My Little Pony. Scooby-Doo belongs to Hanna-Barbera/Warner Bros. and My Little Pony belongs to Hasbro. I only own the story you are about to read.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Before we get started, I'd like to dedicate this story to the late William "Bill" Hanna, one of the founders of Hanna-Barbera. Cyber Chase was his final Scooby-Doo film before his death. This is also the film that Grey DeLisle-Griffin made her debut as Daphne Blake. With that out of the way, on with the mystery!

It was late one September evening at Coolsville University. In the chemistry lab sat an elderly man. He was one of the teachers at the college. He had white hair like the great Albert Einstein and a white mustache. He had on a teal shirt, light brown pants, dark brown shoes, a white lab coat, light green gloves, and round glasses that sat upon his face. The man exited the chemistry lab and walked down a storage room and through the hall towards the computer lab. Inside the lab were three of his students. One of them had black hair, whose name was Eric Staufer. The guy next to him had orange hair and was wearing a red baseball cap. His name was Bill McLemore. Finally, there was the young lab genius, Twilight Sparkle, who had started her classes early.

"Any progress, Eric?" the teacher asked.

"Sorry, Professor Kaufman. There's still something wrong with the program," said Eric.

"Well, we can't do any more experiments with the laser until you kids fix it."

The laser he was referring to was a large, metallic object about Twilight's height with a top that opened up.

"We know, we know," sighed Bill.

Just then, he noticed something odd on his computer screen. As soon as he did, the screen flashed, and the laser immediately turned on.

"Who turned on the laser?"

"Not me!" said the students as a laser came out on a long, metallic rod.

"Shut it down!"

"You think I'm not trying, Professor?!" panicked Twilight. "I'm trying everything, but it won't respond to any of my commands."

The laser rotated behind them and began charging up. It then fired a beam of green energy towards the back of the room. From the beam emerged a glowing, blue creature with a pointed beard and a pointed head. The creature smiled at them menacingly. It then laughed at them sinisterly.

"What is that?" asked Professor Kaufman as the creature slowly walked towards them.

"I-I-I-I-I-I-I was hoping you'd know, professor," stammered Bill.

As the creature passed a few of Twilight's flasks, which suddenly broke upon it passing by.

"My research!" she panicked.

The creature then passed by various computer monitors and started absorbing all of their data like a virus.

"Look! He's absorbing all of our computer data," Bill gasped.

"Call security!" said Professor Kaufman.

Eric ran over to the telephone in attempt to get campus security. Before he could finish dialing, however, the virus shot out an energy beam from his fingertips at the phone. The phone's wires then came to life and wrapped around Eric's left wrist. The virus continued towards them as the others struggled to get Eric free.

The next morning, Fred and the rest of the gang were on the road towards Coolsville University for their first day of classes.

"Like, are we there yet, Fred?" asked Shaggy.

"I told you, Shaggy, soon," Fred responded.

"But you said that an hour ago, man."

"Look, Norville, cut Fred some slack, all right? The university is on the freeway of all places," said Rainbow. "It literally took Twilight an hour and a half to get there last week."

"That aside, I think it's impressive that our old friend Eric received a grant for his computer project," said Rarity as she and Daphne searched through their purses.

Rarity got out her compact mirror and applied some mascara to her eyelashes while Daphne used the visor mirror on her side to apply some lipstick.

"Doesn't surprise me," said Fred. "Back in high school, he practically lived in the computer lab. Right, Velma?"

"Yep. He's one smart cookie," Velma nodded.

"Rookie?" asked Scooby after hearing the word cookie. "Rookie?!"

"Sorry, Scooby. Figure of speech."

"Aw."

"Cheer up, Scoob," said Shaggy as he was playing his handheld shoot-em-up game. "When we get there, we get to play the computer game Eric designed. I bet it's way cooler than this one."

"Yeah. Cooler."

"Imagine a computer game starring all of us!" Fred said excitedly.

"Solving mysteries in cyberspace," Velma added.

Sunset watched as Shaggy continued to play his game. He currently had over four million points and was on his last life as he shot down the enemy spaceships.

"Get 'em, Shaggy! You can do it!" she cheered.

He then came up to the boss and immediately lost it, resulting in a Game Over.

"Like, I hope I do better on Eric's game than this one," he groaned.

The rest of the gang just laughed at Shaggy's misfortune as the pulled up to Coolsville University. Various students were outside talking and doing their schoolwork on the grounds.

"This! Is! So! AWESOME!" Rainbow exclaimed excitedly as they walked on the campus grounds.

Just then, they were all stopped by a stout man wearing a security uniform.

"Where do you think you're going?" he inquired.

"To find our friends, Eric Staufer and Twilight Sparkle," Velma explained.

"Not if you're not on MY list!"

"Excuse me, sir. But we are not visitors here. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure where to go," said Rarity.

"What Rarity is trying to say is that we're just Freshmen," explained Applejack.

"Well, I guess that's understandable," said the officer. "Freshmen usually have a hard time finding their way around this place."

"Tell me about it. My sister, Maud, told me stories about how she would often have to help some of the Freshmen find their classes around here," said Pinkie.

"I take it you're all Freshmen, then?"

"Yes, sir," said Fred.

"Including the dog?"

"Dog? Where?" Scooby asked, looking around.

"Oh, Scooby," Fluttershy sighed as she rolled her eyes.

"As if one dog around here wasn't enough," the officer groaned.

"You mean-? Spike is here, too?"

"That's his name, is it? Yeah, chatty little pup. The other students love him, though. They think he's the cutest thing ever. But if you're going to be taking classes here, I just want to let you know, I don't like a bunch of punks running around MY university!"

"YOU'RE university?" Daphne questioned.

"It might as well be. I've been here for twenty years and there's never been any trouble on MY watch. I'm the head of security. Wembley's the name."

Unbeknownst to Wembley, Scooby managed to take his hat while he was looking and managed to mime the officer as he was talking. The gang snickered at Scooby's actions. Scooby immediately ducked before Wembley could notice him clowning around.

"Twenty years is an impressive record," said Velma.

"You bet it is, and I want to make sure that it stays—"

Wembley then noticed that his hat was missing. He turned around and saw Scooby clowning around behind him with his.

"Oh, a wise guy, eh?"

He snatched his back and put it on his head.

"I'm keeping a special eye on you, pooch!"

"Rooch?"

"Like, Scooby's just playing, officer," said Shaggy.

"Reah. Rorry."

"We just need some help finding the computer lab," explained Fred.

"The lab is three buildings down on the left," Wembley said, pointing to his left.

"Thanks," said Fred as he and the others walked towards the building.

"And keep your dog off the grass!"

Hearing that made Fluttershy angry.

"You're lucky I'm in a good mood today," she grumbled.

The gang disappeared from Wembley's sight and eventually made their way to the computer lab. Little did anyone realize that by making their way there, that they would stumble upon a mystery unlike any other.
