Prologue

On a stormy night.

At the Charles Xavier school for special cases.

Charles Xavier was talking to a visitor to his institute—a woman with orange eyes and blue-violet hair wet from the rain. There must be a reason why she came to Charles. After all, they were old friends from childhood.

They met when they were about children when his mutation kicked in and she showed him her gift of electricity to build metals, destroy, and recharge.

But there is a bond and fondness from Charles he could never stop.

Katherine St. James is Charles's first love.

"I am sorry for coming out of nowhere since it has been years." She apologized, which Charles insisted that she should not be. His door is always open to her whenever she needs it.

"It's alright, Kathy. Now I have a feeling something is going on?" It doesn't take a mind reader for him to know Katherine is in trouble.

"He's changed." Katherine urged him. "He has changed so much yet I fear he won't stop."

Charles sighed and thought carefully. Yes, his old friend has been making moves lately. He is gathering more mutants, and humans are beginning to notice strange events involving his path.

"Has he gone that far?" Can his old friend change so much after one particular disagreement? Charles wasn't sure, but he did have a bad feeling that something had changed in his old friend.

"I say he learned something quite well when it comes from the cruelty of mankind." Katherine seriously answers.

Charles hummed at that moment.

"And you wished to place her here?"

Katherine looked at Charles and said, "He knows nothing of her existence. I cannot bear that thought that he might do something to her like he did other children before." Katherine looked back at her daughter who was sleeping away her dreams. Fives years old and she already developing a powerful X-gene. She cannot let Magneto have her.

"Don't worry," Charles patted her hand. "I will keep her safe. But what would you be doing?"

He is curious.

"I need to prepare for the worst."

Charles paused Katherine from moving from the spot.

"Wait a minute, what is her name?"

Katherine looked sad and spoke, "Vyolet. Vyolet St. James."

Katherine left that night as Charles had legal papers that he was Vyolet's guardian.

The next morning, Vyolet was curious about where is her mommy.

Charles simply looked at his ward and he gave her an understanding look. "Your mother believes you should stay here. She wants you to live your life in peace. Don't worry, I'm going to take care of you until your mother comes back." He held her as she tearfully cried as he hugged her.

Vyolet St. James, daughter of Katherine St. James and an unknown father.

She will live through trials and she will continue as they can bend her, but not break.
