Chapter 4 Mutant's crush
Texas
The crowd around Vyolet cheered at the cowboy clown being tailgated by a bull. She pulled herself in a low ponytail and was dressed in a black wide bean hat, bell bottoms, large boots, and a flannel shirt caged with a suede jacket with fringe. Jean, with a brown vest and a smaller cowboy hat, and Logan, in a black shirt and a white cowboy hat, were sitting next to her.
The clown managed to outrun the bull as he sprayed with his water gun and honked his horn. People laughed as the clown made a mock horror and ran as he honked his horn. The bull chased him, giving the cowboys an opening to get the bull.
Vyolet slurps her drink as she stares at the scene.
Next is a woman named Charlie Ray, who is riding her monster truck. The crowd cheered and applauded.
"Another barrier is broken by our sex," Jean commented with Vyolet who nodded agreeing with Jean. "Ride on sister!" Jean cheered at their fellow woman. Vyolet and Jean clapped at the performance of the monster trucker.
The Professor said there is a mutant here in Texas.
A young teenager named Frederic Dukes.
"All right. Let's hear a big cheer for the lady of monster trucks, Charlie Ray!" The announcer spoke as the crowd cheered.
Charlie waved at the crowd when she drove away.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, the main attraction of the evening let's give it up for the world's strongest teenager Fred "The Blob" Dukes!"
And Charles did say his mutant powers are super strength.
No surprise if this mutant can work with his money.
But what surprised her the most was his size. He had on a white shirt and blue overalls. He has beady eyes and a dirty blond Mohawk. And his size was his most obvious characteristic. He was half a truck's size.
Vyolet, Logan, and Jean are wowed by this.
"What kind of food did they feed him?" Vyolet questioned Logan to which he replied, "Don't know, Petals. I say the whole buffet."
"Let's show them what you got."
As they watched, Dukes seized a chain from a truck and began tugging. The fact that a young, huge boy could pull such a heavy object astounded the non-mutants.
Vyolet is impressed.
Very impressed.
Everyone leaned forward watching anxiously as he tugged the chain even harder. The Blob gritted his teeth and then used full strength to make them stand.
"Ohhhhh!"
They all stood up and cheered that this kid did it!
Duke was enjoying his moment until he slipped and fell.
THUMP!
People stopped and then started pointing and laughing at him.
Vyolet groaned and shook her head. She couldn't believe it. At that moment, he had glory until he slipped up.
And now they are laughing at him instead. Guess it shows that he is no different than a circus freak show.
Duke was angry as he walked away in humiliation. Logan gestured for the girls to check on this recruit.
They went backstage to talk to him, but he was closing the door and they saw he was talking to someone.
"Should we go in?" Jean asked, looking at the stage.
Logan sniffed the air before replying. He then growled.
"We're too late," he said as he stood up. "Mystique's here."
"Great," Vyolet comments sarcastically. "Another mutant to give a chance. And now Mystique is here to corrupt him."
Jean placed her hands on her shoulders. "Don't worry, the Professor always says there is a chance to get him to see the people he can trust."
'I doubt that.' She kept that thought to herself. She may have never had the pleasure of meeting this Mystique, but Professor did speak briefly that he knew her once. However, that changed when she chose her path of deception instead of working together towards peace.
Looks like they have to go back and warn others about the new addition to the Brotherhood.
Bayville High School
"This will be your schedule for the semester. Any questions, Mr. Dukes?" Mystique in disguise as Principal Darkle had given him the schedule and policy of this school.
Frederic Duke looked unsure. "I don't know if I can do school again. I didn't much fit in the other ones." It's true which came as no surprise as this was when he was a kid.
"You won't have that trouble here. As the principal, I can make sure of it." He left the office and then entered the halls.
Fred was wandering around the halls, looking at a piece of paper with a confused look. "First period Man, this is complicated."
Ducan and his jock buddies were laughing and walking down the halls.
"Hey! Hey, you! - Where am I supposed to be?" Fred stopped Duncan and questioned him. Duncan is a jerk in all.
"How about a sideshow?" Causing all three of them to laugh at him.
Big mistake. Fred got angry at their laughter. Fred crumpled the paper and gave them a scowl. He picked up Duncan who had made the circus remark and helped him up after dropping the paper, which rolled away.
"Uhh, hi you must be new here." He turned to see Jean with a book bag, and holding a book over her chest. "I'm Jean Grey." Fred smiled before noticing the lockers. "Uhh yeah, I am. New I mean." He replied, putting the lockers back as Jean smiled. "Welcome to Bayville... Uh, what do your friends call you?" Fred wiped his hands on his overalls before replying.
"I don't have many friends." He shook her hand before continuing. "I'm Fred. Fred Dukes." He winced as the lockers moved a little. "Well, Fred I want to apologize for Duncan. He can be a real idiot sometimes. She bent down and picked up his schedule. "Need help finding your class?" She asked as he nodded. "Yes please." She looked over the paper for a moment before nodding. "Alright. Your first class is right there."
She pointed down the hall before giving his paperback. "And don't worry. The first day's always the roughest. It'll get better, see you later." She walked down another hall as he smiled at her.
"You sure will," Duke replies.
Drama Class
"All right, for this drama exercise, you'll each be doing a scene with a partner. Since a few of you haven't chosen partners, I'll be pairing you up myself."
The teacher selects partners for his students. "Taryn, you and Paul will do Laura and Jim from The Glass Menagerie."
Scott, Kurt, and Vyolet share this class along with Rogue. Scott is praying that Vyolet will be his partner. Hell, he could take Kurt if he has to.
"And that leaves you and you."
Scott and Rogue were paired up. "You two will be doing Shakespeare's Henry V. I've marked it."
Henry and Katherine, daughter of the French King."
"Great," Scott muttered.
The teacher then said, "Mr. Wanger and Ms. St. James. You two will be doing the scene of a favorite classic. The romantic love scene between Romeo and Juliet!"
Kurt's desk is next to Vyolet. When the teacher announced it, both of them widened their eyes.
Vyolet dropped her pencil in shock. Would she dare to look at Kurt?
Kurt has done the same as they both looked at each other. They quickly looked away, but their eyes peeked a little at each other.
Wow, this will be awkward.
Kurt rubbed his neck awkwardly. "Heh, guess we better get started, eh?"
Vyolet nodded dumbly.
They left the classroom for lunch.
Vyolet didn't know what to think, but she figured it was just some homework. She just needs to get over it.
During her turmoil, Kurt is in his thoughts. He wasn't sure when it started, but he recalled that Vyolet was extremely worried when he fell unconscious during their Rogue encounter. Giving him her full-on treatment and concerns for others. She may look and act scary when he goofs off, but she is a person who looks out for her teammates.
Krut feels fluttered around her, and he gets nervous about it. Plus, she is really pretty.
They ate lunch and Vyolet got her own meal which happened to be a lettuce, tomato ham sandwich with small bags of chips, and a can of soda.
"So," Kurt snapped out of it as Vyolet spoke, "Any of you saw the new guy?" The X-Men watches the big kid.
Kitty said, "Yeah like he is so big. I can't believe he is around our age." Kitty had never seen anyone that huge before. Boy, she felt bad for the lunch lady right now cause they were going to need a new stock of food supplies by the time he finished his first meal.
Scott said, "Yeah, and we better be careful. He's with the Brotherhood right now." She knew they needed to watch out.
They watch as he stacks up the food on his tray. Vyolet felt going green as she shoved her tray away from her.
Welp! There goes her appetite.
They observed Duke approaching Lance, Rogue, and Tolansky. The limb sticking in his path went unnoticed. He stumbled and fell upon the food he was carrying, landing face down. Except for The X-men, every student chuckled at Duke.
Vyolet panics as she sees his rage.
"I am so grounded after this." Vyolet picked a tray. She throws it on some football Jock's head. He snarled and turned as Vyolet pretended to secretly gestures to the basketball jock who had done the deed that is sitting behind her.
"So it begins," The football player named Dennis spoke.
That tears it!
Dennis grabbed his sandwich and threw it at him. He missed which aimed at the cheer squad's face. She gasped and everyone stood quiet.
Then hell breaks loose.
"FOOD FIGHT!" Someone announced it.
Foods are being thrown in the air and aimed at each other.
Vyolet ducked under the table as Kurt followed her lead. "I've guessed this is the norm." He questioned her as they crawled away.
"No, that's just me. Trying to cover our gifts, but we caused more chaos without them." She said as they ran out.
Yeah, they ran out of the building as a few kids followed their example.
Those who didn't notice or followed just continued to food fighting. Food splat on walls, leftovers on the floor, and kids covered in them.
"What is going on-?" The concept before the sandwich struck her face, Darkle yelled. As the ham, lettuce, and tomato slipped from Darkle's face, everyone paused in silence and gazed at her. Jean got struck by the other sandwich.
Everyone has gotten quiet.
They would be soooo expelled if she had her way.
"I want this cafeteria clean." Darkle angrily announced, "Now."
Making no room to argue. The students quickly get to work.
Later that day…
Since the students spend almost half a day of class time cleaning this place up. They were told to go home for the day.
Jean stayed behind to get Fred to talk and calm him down.
What she didn't know was that he liked her. A crush if you would, but Jean doesn't notice it.
Scott went to check up on her and was ready to leave home.
"Hey Jean, time to head out."
"Right," Jean said and waved bye to Fred. "See ya, Fred."
She didn't notice her picture fell off her backpack.
Fred saw this and picked it up. It was a picture of Jean, Scott, and Vyolet smiling as they wore Mickey Mouse head ears in the photo where they went to Disneyland for Vyolet's birthday. It said, "A place where you can be a kid again."
Fred smiled, "Yeah, you bet."
He ripped the picture in half. Keeping Jean's image and stepping on the other half where Scott and Vyolet are.
He walked away as he left behind picture crushed and teared up more.
Xavier's Mansion…
Kurt nervously thumbed at the playbook. The time is now.
He is nervous.
Knock, knock.
His door is shut. He went to his door and opened it. Seeing Vyolet there with her knitted sweater that has black lines with pink lines.
"Oh, um come in." Kurt gave his permission.
Vyolet entered and took a deep breath. They sat down on the bed and opened their playbook.
"Okay, you ready?"
"Um," he stuttered, "that is vhy we practice." Right practice makes perfect sense.
"If I profane with my unworthiest hand. This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: my lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss." Kurt started as he confidently read it. He rubbed his head as if English wasn't hard enough. This Shakespeare guy butchered his English badly.
"Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss."
Vyolet played her part which Kurt memorized by this.
Kurt blushed and said, "Uh…Have not saints' lips, and holy palmers too?""
Ba-bump, ba-bump.
The heartbeat is beating fast. Kurt stuttered and breathed in and out slowly.
"Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer."
"Romeo. O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do;" Vyolet leaned as she continued.
"They pray, grant thou, lest faith turn to despair."
Vyolet spoke, "Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake."
Kurt leaned almost close, "Then move not, while my prayer's effect I take." Kurt and Vyolet leaned closely as their lips were about to touch.
"Hey guys!"
Kitty interrupted them as Kurt was unintentionally pushed back and hit on the floor. The poor blue devil let out an unmanly squeak as he hit the ground. Vyolet hand was out in the air, and she looked down shocked.
That was a total accident.
"Um like you guys, ok?" Kitty questioned this scene. She is not sure what is going on.
"Kitty, "Vyolet stood and said, "What is it you need?"
Kitty snapped out and said, "Oh! Scott said he was going to get burgers for everyone today. You want some?"
"Sounds good." Vyolet looked at Kurt lying on the floor. "How about it, Kurt? You up for some beef today?"
He gave a thumbs up.
"Great!" Kitty said and waved, "See you guys downstairs!" She phased through Kurt's door.
Vyolet cringed as she saw Kurt lying on the ground still. "I'm going to get a cream to help your back."
"Danke."
The next day at Bayville High School
Scott walked with Kurt and Vyolet as he sighed.
"What's wrong Scott?" Vyolet questioned him.
"It just well…" Scott scratched his head awkwardly. Today is the day he would try to work on the homework with Rogue. It seemed like she downright hated him or at least said that she was not scared of him. So that was the whole summary of what Scott said to them.
"Dude," Kurt slammed his hand onto Scott's back. "Cheer up! Maybe this is the way to get her to tell us about the Brotherhood movements and plans?"
SMACK!
"Ow!" Kurt was hit in the hand courtesy of Vyolet. He rubbed his head as Vyolet glared at him.
"Kurt! Scott is not going to ask Rogue to spy for us." Vyolet walked up to her locker to get her stuff before going to the next class. They waited on her. As she finished getting her books for her last class for today.
"Besides," She closed her locker. "Professor said that she will come to us when she is ready. I think right now, Scott should show or at least extend kindness to her."
Scott sighed, "Uh… you're right. I mean we didn't make exactly a good impression."
Kurt then added, "I guess it won't hurt to try, right?"
Scott then mumbled, "Yeah, like she won't try and hate me."
He walked to his six-period class before heading to meet Rogue one hour later.
The bell rings and school ends as the weekend starts.
"Like, there goes my weekend." Jean's friend Taryn spoke. "Oh, I can't believe how much homework I've got."
"Yeah." Jean agreed, "Me too."
Fred just suddenly appeared in front of them.
"Oh, hi, Fred." Jean was startled but smoothed things out. "This is my friend Taryn." Tarryn doesn't seem comfortable. I mean he was a big guy, and he just popped out of nowhere.
"Yeah, hi." Taryn awkwardly waved her hand.
"Hi." Fred just said that but focused on Jean.
"Jean, would you? I mean, would you like to?" He stuttered but said what he wanted to say. "Wanna get a soda or something?"
"Oh, sorry, Fred. I can't." Jean said apologetically. "I got some stuff I gotta do."
"Hey, how about if I catch up with you tomorrow?"
"Stuff," huh? That's the best you could come up with. "Stuff?" Taryn said to Jean. Even she can make a better lie than that.
Jean sighed, "Taryn. You better go on without me. I'll catch up with you later."
"You gonna be, okay?" Taryn is worried about Jean, but she trusts her friend will make things clear.
"Yeah." Jean waved Taryn bye.
"Look, Fred. I like you and all." Jean wanted to make things clear. "But I have responsibilities."
Fred looked disappointed and heard her. At least Jean hopes he understands. "That means I can't go with you right now."
"But you're my friend," Fred said as Jean agreed. "I thought so. But friends don't hurt each other." He took a grip on her wrist.
"Now let go of me."
"Well, just let me talk to you for a second in private." Fred seemed to be insisting.
"I said let go of me, Fred. I have to go home." Jean tries to insist as she physically is trying but he is not budging.
"You can't. You gotta go out with me!"
"I don't have to go anywhere but home! Now, let me go! I'm warning you!" Blackness was all Jean could see. She brought a bucket and bricks to make him let her go.
"That the best you got?"
"I said let me go!" Jean made wildly with her powers that brought nearly the construction building down on them.
She was hit, but Fred took her somewhere.
Then a voice awakens her.
"Wakey-wakey, Sleeping Beauty."
Your table's ready.
Pretty sweet, huh? This can't be happening.
'Professor, I need help. Please help me.' Jean telepathically called the Professor for help.
Back at the institute…
Wolverine, Professor X, and Solenoid were watching and standing on the lines. As Kitty giggles and Nightcrawler chases after her.
"Hey!"
The training is all about keeping the ball away from Nightcrawler. They are observing them outside as these two need more training together. Stripe is somewhere in the area no doubt waiting to jump on them.
"That's it, half-pint. Keep the ball away from the elf."
"You gotta concentrate or" Logan was cut off as Kurt got the ball, "- It's mine now, Kitty." He teased her as he danced a little with the ball.
"Give me that! Watch where you're portin'." Kitty tried to take the ball back from Kurt. But a leave fell in front of them then. Stripe roared as he pounced on them. They gave a frightened face then…
BAM!
Kitty and Kurt grunted and groaned, the tiger lay on top of them.
"Ugh, fine you win." Kitty said then added, "Now can you like get off of us now?" Stripe innocently blinked his eyes then he started licking her face first. Then gave the same love for Kurt. They complained and tried to get him to stop, but Stripe didn't seem to care as he licked their faces. "Yuck!" She yelled as Kurt said, "Oh, c'mon, Stripes!" Stripes purred at Kurt as the blue demon gave a deadpanned look as he helplessly sighed. He laid his flat hand towards the side of his cheeks allowing him to do whatever he wanted. Stripes seemed to like Nightcrawler more as he made his teleporting more fun to chase him around the house.
Wolverine groaned as he slapped himself on the side. "That tiger is going to be a death of me. What kind of move is that?"
"Innovation, adaptation," Charles explained to his friend. "It's what they're here to learn."
Solenoid couldn't help but worry. Jean is not here, and she said that she was supposed to be home today.
For some reason, she is glad that she listens to her gut feelings. Charles felt something as he gasped. He laid his hand on his head and then closed his eyes.
'Jean, stay calm. We'll find you.'
Solenoid kneels to his level and spoke, "Is it Jean?" Charles nodded solemnly.
"She's been kidnapped." He told logan which he grunted, "You, housecat off of them." He pointed then gestured back to signal him off of them. Stripe growled a bit then did what he was told. It caused the younger team to sigh in relief. Logan ordered, "You, elf, get Cyclops."
Kurt gave a salute to them then ported out of there. BARMF!
Solenoid looked at Logan. He said, "Petals, let's ride." She nodded and then followed him to his motorcycle.
Scott was reading the script with Rogue. So far so good.
"Do you like me, Kate?" Scott read his passage.
"Pardonnez-moi? I cannot tell what is 'like me." Rogue read it.
"An angel is like you, Kate." Scott smoothly said, "And you are like an angel."
"The girls are right." She giggled a bit as she looked at Scott. "You are a charmer."
"Look, I'm just reading the lines, okay?" Scott clarified to Rogue.
"Yeah, ah know. It's just sometimes ah wish- Yeah." Rogue looked down as he recalled that awful night when the first boy who wanted to dance with her almost put him in a coma. Yeah, not a good experiment of her first dance.
"Wish what?" Scott is curious. He wants to help, but Vyolet says that if coming on too strong then she will freak out. So, maybe she has a point. What Rogue needs is not a team, but a friend. And sometimes that is what every person needs.
"Wish ah could get close to somebody." She honestly confessed. "But you know what happens when ah do."
BARMF!
Out came Nightcrawler.
"Tender moment here? Sorry to interrupt." He looked at both of them.
"Ah swear, he's like an annoying little brother." She crossed her arms in annoyance. Yeah, Kurt seemed to dislike her too for that comment. He sticks out his tongue childishly.
"What's the problem?" Scott knows Kurt and when Kurt appears that means something bad happened.
"Jean's been nabbed."
"What?" Scott grabbed Kurt's clothing and the demon let out a yelp and said, "Easy on the exquisite costume. Wolverines on the scent."
He gently removed Scott's hand and added, "But I'm supposed to collect you."
"Blob." Scott knew it was him.
"If he's hurt her, I'll" Scott then turned to Rogue accusing her. "You know anything about this?"
"No." Rogue looked away from him. However, she was secretly hurt by his accusations. "And even if Ah did, ah wouldn't tell you."
'Sorry, Vyolet but I can't handle her anymore.'
"Then I hope you can live with your conscience," Scott said his peace.
"Teleporter to maximum, Mr. Wagner." He ordered Kurt.
"Aye, captain." They clasped their hands as they ready themselves.
"Engage."
BARMF!
They ported out there leaving slight remorse Rogue about what happened here.
"I've been in mental contact with Jean." Charles spoke with a slight dismay, "But she has no idea where she is."
He continued contacting his X-Men.
"All I can tell is that she and Blob are somewhere in this area."
"Then let's move," Solenoid said.
At the warehouse where Blob is keeping Jean prisoner over their so-called date.
"This is gonna be the best night you've ever had. Dinner, dancing…"
"Fred, this is all wrong." Jean tried to convince him that what he was doing was wrong. Now, you can't force someone to like you."
"Why not? I'm stronger than everyone." He looked back at Jean.
"Being nice usually works better." She coaxed him a bit.
"Oh, yeah. I just remembered I've got a surprise for you." He left her alone for a bit. Jean is dismayed that Fred is not listening to her. Vyolet may have a point. The boys are so overrated. Especially, when you try to be nice to someone.
The motorcycle was cut off as Solenoid and Wolverine got off the ride.
"I found them." Wolverine pressed his communicator in his ear. "They're at the old ironworks at the south end."
Solenoid closed her eyes as she used the metal bars. She tapped them to make noise for her to echo their designs and felt the vibration of seeing anyone there. It was a trick she used when she realized that she needed to see in the dark as that cave adventure was almost scary. So, she tested her theory and focused on size and movement and it can be used like lightning up a dark room for the flesh as they have magnetic sparks coated on them. Vyolet did not doubt that her mother did the same thing when she was a child.
She sees them. Jean seemed to be on a wooden chair. No doubt she is tied up by Fred. But Fred's heavy body makes the ground shake a little.
"Petals?"
"She's there, but…" She was cut off as Logan wanted to find her quickly.
"I'm going in."
"Logan, wait for backup." Solenoid felt something, but it was too late. Logan growled and clawed the door through, he was face to face with Fred who looked super angry.
"Hey, get out here!" He charged at them. Solenoid bent the wires and held him back. She grunted as it felt like pulling her teeth. He snapped the wires and waved his hand at her like swatting a fly.
"AH!" Solenoid was hit by the wall and Wolverine had to provide a distraction for Blob. He jumped in the head. Fred grabbed his ankle and threw him to the other side.
"Charles where's backup!?" Solenoid presses her ear communicator.
"Don't worry, Solenoid. Help is on the way." Charles quickly pressed his keyboards and put on his helmet to make contact with the rest of the X-Men.
"Wolverine has the location. I'm transmitting coordinates."
"Got it, professor." Scott nodded, "Be there in three."
"Can't breathe." Solenoid gasped as she and Wolverine were being crushed by Blob with his hands.
"Jean's my friend. You can't take her!" Fred growled as he threw them to the other side again.
"We're just giving her a way out." Solenoid waved another metal to bend as she smiled, "Through you, if necessary."
Jean telepathy through a chair at the back of Fred's back. Fred turned and became angrier. Kitty phased her teammate Jean out while they distracted Blob.
"Nobody respects me! And you're the worst! You pretended to be my friend!"
Solenoid looked around trying to figure out anything to use against Fred. She summoned a pull of wires but paused as she noticed tiny purple sparks dancing on her fingertips. 'What the?' Kurt ported back and forth but Blob was pushed hard at Kurt.
Solenoid decided she needed to help her team first.
She gritted her teeth and spread her arms to bend the roof metal bars to cage him in. Leaving an opening for Scott as she yelled, "Now Cyclops!" Cyclops nodded then blasted at Fred to cage him in that she made, but Fred just pressed his feet on the ground took hold of the metal pole, and gripped it tight.
BASH!
Scott grunted as he was hit by the pole. Fred went after Solenoid as she dodged his fist when he punched the ground leaving a big hole and rumble.
Kitty and Jean saw Solenoid in trouble as they tried to push him away from them, but it was hard. Kitty phased the floor to trap Fred, but Jean tried to bring back the metal pulls to cage him again. Fred gave a big clapping noise from his hand that made them lose control of holding him.
CLAP!
The girls screamed and tripped to the floor. Fred's shadowing figure stood above Solenoid as she watched him give an evil grin to her. He knows that Jean cares about Solenoid more as he guessed in the photo.
"Let's start with you." He was about to finish her off until her rescuer was surprised. Even to her.
"Leave her alone, you yahoo." Rogue's voice came forward.
"What you gonna do to me? Make me wear bad makeup?" Fred taunted her, not realizing what her powers would do with him.
"Didn't Mystique tell you what my power is?" Rogue slowly removed her gloves.
"No." He confidently walked forward as he punched his hand. Because I don't care."
Rogue surprised him with Cyclops' powers. Fred was blasted off his feet. Rogue ran forward and touched him. Fred groaned as he felt drained. Now Rogue can do it and more.
"My power is your power. And ah can take more than one."
"Ah got too much power, even for you!" Rogue charged and lifted him, throwing him in the air.
"You can't hurt me! I'm the Blob!"
"No. You're just garbage that wanted a date," She summoned her blast not once nor twice, but three full blasts.
"Now, tell you what. Ah'm taking you out!" She gave a full blaster that cast Fred out of their location through the roof. Fred yelled as he was blasted away and his screams were in the distance.
"There you go. I only took a short-term dose of your power." Rogue went to Scott's side and gave him back his laser goggles. "You should be back to normal soon."
Scott complimented Rogue, "You are like an angel, Kate."
"My name's not Kate." Rogue denies that notion. "And I'm no angel."
"But you helped us." Jean and Kitty help Solenoid walk slowly as she takes more beating than she thought.
"Why?"
"I don't know. I just don't know." Rogue walked away as she was still confused about what to believe.
"Hey, wait!" Jean wanted to stop her; Logan shut that down. "Easy, red. Let her go."
"But she…"
"She ain't ready." Wolverine could understand Rogue just a bit. "Trust me on this."
"Okay." Jean sighed in disappointment. Solenoid nodded though she winced.
"So maybe she's part of the dark icky side," Kitty commented. "But I figure we, like, totally owe her now."
"Yeah."
"Yeah, we do."
"Bigtime."
The rest of the X-men commented as they walked back to their rides.
Though Solenoid was quiet she felt something moving metal. She doesn't know but it felt like someone was watching her. She looked at the sunset sky as they may not see it, but she felt it.
Someone powerful enough is hiding in the shadows.
Scott noticed in the mirror of his car and said, "Are you okay?" Scott is a bit concerned. She is never quiet when it comes to missions like this. However, she did take a bad beating from Fred.
That snapped her out of it. Solenoid nodded and said, "It's nothing." She then looked at a small metal ball moving fast away in the blink of an eye. "It's nothing, Scott."
Yes, nothing for now.
But she had a feeling that someone was observing them. And she felt fear like something was coming. And the X-Men won't be prepared for the outcome.
She won't be ready for the outcome.
Reviews are welcome.
