Despite the pain from her injuries, Luz had a big smile on her face as she exited the arena, because mentally she felt fantastic. It was made even better when she was met with a round of applause from the citizens of Bonesborough, which caused her to shed a few tears. It felt like the weight of the world had been lifted off of her shoulders. After months of suffering and hard work, not only was she in sync with her curse, but people no longer looking at her in fear. It seemed they finally understood her and accepted her for what she is.

Her tears became sobs of joy however when she spotted her mother and the rest of her family. The only ones that weren't present were the Blights, probably because they were still busy helping Darius with the injured. Regardless, Luz immediately ran over to her family to embrace them all in a hug, a hug they were more than happy to return. Anna decided to stay back and let them have their moment.

"Oh, Mija!" Camila cried. "You nearly gave me a heart attack, but I'm so proud of you!"

Luz laughed as she shed more tears. "I told you I'd make it, Mamá. I always do."

Stringbean smacked her on the back of her head with Camila's phone before typing on it. 'You jerk! Don't ever leave me out like that ever again!'

The human witch formed a look of guilt and patted her palisman on the head. "I'm sorry, girl. Given how powerful Dysley was, I couldn't risk you getting hurt."

The snakeshifter pouted. 'I don't care. I still wanted to be a part of it.'

Luz giggled and gave her a little kiss on the head. "Stubborn, just like me. I'm glad to see I'm being a good influence on you."

"Stringbean's not the only one." Vee said. "Those hostages you rescued? They're all telling stories about the hero that saved their lives!"

"They're all okay?"

"They are! Every last one of them!"

The human witch breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank titan. In the heat of the moment, I wasn't sure if they got out safely or not."

Raine smiled. "Well, they did, and they're all singing praises about how brave you were!"

"As they should!" Eda said. "You should have seen her! She kicked all kinds of butt in there!"

Luz blushed. "Come on, guys. We all worked together on this."

"Uh uh." Amity said. "You agreed to take credit on this one, so no modesty. Got it?"

"Yes, Honey."

Everyone chuckled.

"Damn, you got to force her to do something like that." Hunter said. "Not really a bad thing though. If anything, it shows how big of a heart Luz has."

Willow nodded in agreement. "It most certainly does, and those with big hearts deserve to be happy."

Luz started tearing up again. "Guys…"

King snorted. "Oh boy, you got her crying again. Eh, what the heck. Bring it in, everyone!"

The entire family embraced in another group hug, though softly to not make Luz's injuries even worse. This time however, Eda noticed Anna standing off to the side.

"What are you just standing there for?" She asked. "Join in!"

Anna's eyes widened and she held up her hands. "Oh, no, it's okay. I don't want to intrude."

Amity shook her head. "No. You helped us by warning us about Dysley ahead of time. Come on!"

"Eep!"

The purple haired witch pulled her into the hug, and it was only then did she realize how much she needed it. The last twenty four hours had been hell for her, and it was great to have some form of comfort.

The group stayed that way for a good while, taking in the love and happiness they had for each other, the same love and happiness that helped them pull though all the odds.

When they parted, Gus spoke. "So, what now? I mean, we've been so focused on Luz's training and this stuff with Dysley that, now that it's over, I have no idea where we go from here."

Hooty perked up. "I do! We should have a celebration! Let's head back to the owl house and have a feast! Hoot-Hoot!"

Amity nodded in agreement. "I like the sound of that, but let's get Luz to a healer first. As you can tell, she got pretty banged up during the fight with Dysley."

The human witch shrugged. "Totally worth it."

Masha sighed. "I'd have to agree. That being said, let's not fight another supernatural creature any time soon. I think I've had my fill of those for now."

Vee raised an eyebrow. "I never thought I'd hear that out of you."

"Yeah, well, even super nerds like me have limits."

Lilith nodded in agreement. "I feel the same way. It would be nice to take it easy for a while, especially after everything we've been through."

Anna's smile fell. "Well, maybe not all of us. I…have a lot of changes in my life to adjust to."

Those words tugged at everyone's hearts, because they all knew what she meant by that. Dysley had taken the only family she had away from her, and she was now alone. It was something many of them knew all too well, and they knew they couldn't let Anna suffer like that.

Eda smiled again and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I think I have an idea on how we can help you with that. What do you say we go see Mayor Bump? He's probably dying to talk to Luz right now anyway. Don't worry, you're not in any trouble."

Anna paused for a moment, but then nodded. "Sure, I'll come."

"Sounds good." Amity asked. "First things first though. We're getting Luz to a healer."

The human witch frowned. "Wait, don't you want to find your family first?"

"I'll let them know where we are. Now come on. That wound on your arm will get infected before you know it."

The human witch yelped as her fiancé pulled her away and into the crowd. The rest of the family couldn't help but chuckle in amusement.

….

Unlike the last time the family was in Mayor Bump's office, everyone was much more calm and relaxed. This made the air feel far less tense, and gave the room an overall more peaceful vibe than before. This was helped by the look on the Mayor's face. He was wearing the biggest smile at that moment, and it was currently directed at Luz. The healers had done a good job with treating the human witch. Her arm was now wrapped in bandages and in a sling, and she also wore a brace around her torso to help with her broken ribs. Overall, she looked much better, though still clearly uncomfortable.

Because of that, most of her family stayed outside to make sure none of the reporters or anything would bother her. In the office, it was just her, Amity, Camila, Eda, and Raine. Anna was there too, though she still did not know why.

The mayor was the first one to speak, his smile never wavering. "You truly are extraordinary, Ms. Noceda. Many people have not treated you kindly over the last couple months. Yet despite that, you still risked your life to aid them when they needed it. Let me tell you, those people are speechless right now, and they're incredibly thankful for you and what you did."

The human witch smiled back. "That you, Mayor Bump. I'm glad that those hostages made it out okay. I'm not the only one who should be getting credit though. My whole family helped me, and I couldn't have done what I did without them."

"Oh, I assure you, I will absolutely say that to the public, and they will all get medals for their courage. That being said, you are most definitely the woman of the hour here. You were incredibly brave in more ways than one today, and you proved to everyone that not all lycanthropes are evil. Some of them are capable of being heroes as well."

Luz smiled even wider. "Again, thank you so much. That means a lot to me to hear you say that."

"Oh, I will do more than just praise you. Based on what I've seen and heard from the public, I am confident in saying that the fear of your lycanthropy has disappeared, and has been replaced with a newfound understanding and respect for it. Because of that, I don't think we have to be worried about you being in danger in public anymore, and I am officially allowing you to start attending university in person again."

The human witch's eyes widened. "Really?!"

The mayor nodded. "Absolutely, and I can't describe how happy I am to be saying that. You are one of the university's brightest students, and I'm sure the professors will be looking forward to seeing you again."

For what was probably the fourth time that day, Luz began to cry tears of joy, and Amity embraced her in a soft hug as she did the same. Camila meanwhile stood up and furiously shook Bump's hand.

"Gracias, Mayor Bump! You have no idea how much this means to us!"

The mayor chuckled and patted her shoulder. "It is my pleasure, Mrs. Noceda. I'd say your daughter more than deserves it at this point."

"You got that right!" Eda said. "And as headmaster of the university, I'm gonna throw one hell of a welcome back party for her!"

Bump sighed, but chuckled as well. "All these years later and you haven't changed a bit, Edalyn, but I think a party would be justified in this case."

"Ha! I knew I could get you to loosen up eventually!"

"Yes, it would appear so. Do try not to gloat about it though."

Eda gave a sly grin. "No promises."

The mayor sighed again, but then took on a more serious face before speaking again. "Anyway, I believe you said you wanted to talk to me about Ms. Kessler here?"

The owl lady's face became more serious as well, and she nodded. "Yeah, we do. Raine said that they called you and brought you up to speed on her."

Bump's face became more somber. "They did, and to say I was shocked would be an understatement."

He then turned to Anna, who had been silent this whole time, before speaking again. "There are no words to describe the sorrow I feel for you, Ms. Kessler. Dysley deceived you to achieve his own selfish goals. And when you realized it and tried to stand up to him, he took the only family you had away from you. I think there is a special place in hell for men like him."

Anna nodded while shedding a few tears. "Me too, and I'm glad they got justice for what he did. Still though, it's…going to be hard to move forward for me. Without any family, I…I don't really know how I'm going to live my life."

Raine put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Well, we think we can help with that. First things first, I meant it when I said I would drop all charges on you."

"Something I wholeheartedly agree with." Bump said. "You are in enough pain as is already, and the last thing we want to do is add to that. Furthermore, you're young and without a family. The financial struggles for you would be great, and we're not about to let that happen to you."

Eda then smiled. "So here's what we're thinking. Why don't you come and stay at the owl house with me, Raine, and King? Bumpy here will provide you with some finances to help you get started."

Anna blinked a few times as her brain tried to process what the owl lady just said. There was no way she heard that right. She was being offered a place to stay at the owl house, the very place she helped attack?

She couldn't help but ask the obvious question. "...What? I…Why? Why would you offer me that? You barely even know me, and I've done terrible things to you."

Eda raised an eyebrow. "So? I barely knew Luz when I took her in, and now she's my kid who I love more than anything. And if there's anything my kid has taught me, it's that everyone deserves a second chance."

Anna slowly turned to the human witch. "Are you okay with this? I mean, I haven't exactly been kind to you or your family. Not to mention, you just got allowed back into college, and I don't want to ruin this moment for you."

Luz chuckled and walked over to her. "Nah, you're good. Honestly, nothing can ruin this moment for me. I'm just happy I can live a normal life again."

She then put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "And look, I'm not going to hang what you did over your head for the rest of your life. I'm just not that kind of girl. Eda was right when she said I believe in second chances. It's the reason I'm as close with my family as I am. Here's a fun fact. Did you know Amity tried to dissect me when we first met?"

Anna's eyes widened in shock. "Wait, what?!"

The purple haired witch groaned and buried her face in her hands. "Yeah, and I regret it every single day. I wish I could just go back in time and erase it from history."

Luz smiled and walked over to her fiancé to give her a kiss on the cheek. "And yet despite that, you became the love of my life, and I can't imagine being with anyone else. It's proof that everyone deserves a second chance."

She then held her hand up at Anna. "Just for the record though, Amity and I don't do threesomes."

This got a giggle out of Anna. "I wasn't thinking that, but good to know."

She then sighed and turned to Eda with a smile. "Well, if Luz is okay with it, I will be more than happy to stay with you. Thank you so much, Eda. That…That means so much to me."

She whipped tears away from her eyes, and Raine smiled patted her shoulder. "No problem, Kiddo. As you know by now, we're not the type of people to turn our backs on those in need."

Eda then perked up. "Alright, enough of all this mellow drama. We got big events to plan, including Luz and Amity's wedding! And now that we don't have to worry about any more supernatural creatures, we can put all our focus on it!"

"Oh!" Amity said as she stood up. "That reminds me! Vee and Hunter were going to help me pick out some designs for my wedding dress this weekend!"

"And they were gonna help me do the same with my suit and dress too!" Luz added.

"They sure were!" Camila replied. "Though for your sake, we should probably hold back on having you try anything on until your body heals."

The human witch pouted. "Of course. The one time my body can't heal fast is when I really need it too."

Her mother chuckled. "Yep, that's usually how it works. Don't worry though, you'll get better before you know it. In the meantime, we can focus on preparing other things for the wedding."

"Can I help?" Anna asked shyly. "I…I'm actually pretty good at coordinating these types of things."

Eda gave a big smile. "Absolutely! We could always use an extra hand! In fact…"

She opened the office door and poked her head out. "Hooty!"

Within a few seconds, the house demon snaked his way into the office. "Yes?"

"Anna here wants to join with preparations for Luz and Amity's wedding. Bring her up to speed on everything. I think she's gonna be a huge help to us."

Hooty perked up. "Oh boy! Right this way, Anna! We're gonna have so much fun! Hoot!"

"Whaaa?!" Anna yelped as the house demon wrapped around her and carried her out of the room. Everyone burst out laughing, even Mayor Bump.

Luz then smiled widely and turned to her fiancé. "We're actually going to get married soon. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around it."

Amity smiled back and gave her a scratch behind the ear, making her tail wag. "Me too. But hey, we can now look forward to it without anything hanging over our heads. No curses to overcome, no monsters to fight, just the two of us."

The human witch nodded and kissed her. "I like the sound of that. In fact, how about we start this new chapter with that feast Hooty was suggesting? I don't know about you, but that fight with Dysley left me pretty hungry."

"Yeah, I would love that."

Amity then turned to the others. "What about you guys?"

"Sounds good to me!" Eda said. "Besides, we gotta get our newest team member settled in anyway."

Bump chuckled. "When you say that, you sound like you're assembling a sports team."

The owl lady smirked. "Say, that's actually not a bad idea. I'll keep that in mind."

The mayor's smile fell and he hung his head. "Oh no. What have I done?"

Everyone burst out laughing again.
