Digimon Adventure 02, Episode 8: Ken's Secret
Davis narrated, "The Digimon Emperor tried to keep us DigiDestined from destroying any more of his Control Spires by siccing Andromon on us. Kari recognized him right away as her old friend, but I wasn't so sure. This Andromon only responded to the Digimon Emperor! Luckily the Emperor's Dark Ring couldn't completely control him, and our D3s were able to free our buddy from the Emperor's control. Even though that battle was won, the war was far from over. If we only knew who this Emperor guy is! Then we could guess his game plan and figure out how to stop 'em!"
We skip the theme song
We open up to a scene in school where Davis is in soccer practice. His teammates wore red jerseys. The kids were all exclaiming and shouting.
"I got it!" A boy shouted.
The soccer ball bounced off a boy's chest and begins to fall to the ground. Davis slides in to kick the ball.
"Shoot it!" Another boy shouted.
"No!" Davis shouted, obstructing the shot. The boy fell fell as the ball rolls to where Davis kicked it. Tai, TK, Kari, Yolei, Cody, and the other kids in the school were watching Davis practice.
"You walk much, Davis?" Tai asked. Davis nervously laughed.
An hour later, the coach gathered the kids all around to give an announcement.
"Alright team! Hustle in. Quiet down! Alright. Our first scrimmage is this Saturday. It's against last year's champions," the coach said. Davis recognized the team that they were up against.
"Woah! That's the team with that braniac kid! He's good at soccer, he's good at sports...he's good at everything!" Davis said.
"Hey hey! Watch the name calling. He's Ken Ichijouji!" The coach said.
Later, the DigiDestined were going over Ken's profile in the computer room.
"As captain of his soccer team, Ken Ichijouji led his team to victory last year by scoring a record-setting 45 goals!" Yolei said, reading the profile.
"Woah. This kid may even be better than I am!" Tai said.
"I bet he could be in the olympics if he wanted to," Cody said.
"He's not so tough! I never got a chance to beat him! That's cause we never played his team last year!" Davis said.
"You guys got knocked out early! You didn't even make the playoffs," TK pointed out.
"Very funny, TE!" Davis deadpanned.
"You think you can beat him?" Kari asked.
"Well, I don't have to flat out beat him! If can make it a close game to that guy, I'd be a living legend! And everyone knows how much chicks dig living legends," Davis said.
"Oh, Davis?" Yolei said.
"Uh oh, it's starting already," Davis said.
"When you see Ken on the soccer field, will you get his autograph for me?" Yolei requested, blushing.
"Yolei and Ken, sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Cody sang in a teasing manner.
"Hey watch it, Cody. And besides, I didn't say I wanted to KISS him, duh, I just want to marry him!" Yolei said.
"Oh," Cody said.
"If you want to meet him, ask for his autograph yourself!" Davis said.
"Oh, I guess I could do that..." Yolei said, blushing.
"Let's all go to the game and you can ask him then," Kari suggested.
"Hey, don't you want MY autograph?" Davis asked.
Later over to the Kamiya house, Tai thought of inviting Sora to accompany him for the soccer match on Saturday. But he was a nervous wreck.
"What am I getting nervous about? I'm just inviting Sora to join me and the others for Davis's soccer match, I mean, it's not a date or anything. It's a date if it's just me and her," Tai said to himself. He took in a very deep breath. "I can do this. I know I can do this. It's like taking off a bandaid. What if she says no? Man up, Tai. You can do this. If you can risk your life to rescue Sora from Datamon, you can ask her to join in." He picked up the phone and dialed Sora's home phone number. He waited a few seconds until he eventually heard Sora's mother's voice over the phone.
"Hello? Takenouchi Flower Shop. How may I be of service?" Toshiko asked, answering the phone.
"Hello, Mrs. Takenouchi. It's Tai," Tai greeted.
"Oh, hello, Tai. I'm going to guess you wanna talk with Sora, right?" Toshiko asked from her end.
"Yeah, I am calling for Sora. Is she home?" Tai asked.
"Your timing is very perfect since she's about to leave for her tennis match. I'll get her for you," Toshiko said. "Sora, it's for you! It's Tai!" He waited for a second before Sora eventually answered the phone.
"Hi, Tai. What's up?" Sora asked.
"Hey, Sora. I'm calling to ask if you wanna accompany me and the others to Davis's soccer match this Saturday. I mean, for old times sake. That's if you want to and you don't have any other plans," Tai said.
"Saturday is perfect for me, Tai. The tennis match I was going to have was canceled anyway. Are Matt, Izzy, and Joe joining us, too?" Sora asked.
"Matt has his band recital, Joe has that test, and Izzy is super busy monitoring the Digital World," Tai said.
"Okay, I'll see you this Saturday. What time's the game?" Sora asked.
"It's at 10:00. See you then," Tai said.
"You too," Sora said, hanging up. Tai does a yes pose.
Unknown to him, Kari, Gatomon, and Yuuko were eavesdropping on him and they smiled among themselves.
"Looks like Sora's coming with us on Saturday," Kari whispered.
"Ooh, I'm wondering if Tai will finally reveal his feelings for Sora," Yuuko whispered.
"That's if Tai doesn't chicken out," Kari whispered.
"Better a chicken than a scaredy cat," Gatomon whispered.
Kari, her mother, and her partner chuckled quietly as they snuck away, not letting Tai know that they were listening on him.
Over to Davis's bedroom in his apartment, Davis filled DemiVeemon about the upcoming soccer match against Ken's team.
"Can I come to your game, too, Davis?" DemiVeemon asked with glee.
"Sure! You can watch me wipe the field with Mr. Perfect! I'll show them who's the man!" Davis proclaimed.
It was at last, Saturday. Davis's team was ready to take on Ken's Team. Davis was very determined to win it and prove himself to be a top soccer player.
"Good luck, Davis!" Kari called out.
"Don't forget to hug Ken!" Yolei called out.
"Give him a kiss, too!" Tai called out, laughing.
"But make it on the cheek," Sora added.
"Ha-ha," Davis deadpanned. A few seconds later, a bus arrived, carrying Ken's team. They all wore green uniforms when they came out. "Enjoy the attention while it lasts, pal."
"Oh, I can't believe it's really him!" Yolei gleefully exclaimed.
"When I woke up this morning, I was just a regular kid. When I go to bed tonight, I'll be king of the world," Davis thoight.
"I really hope Davis hasn't gotten in over his head," Tai said.
"You realize this is Davis we're talking about, Tai," Sora said.
"Tai probably thinks I'm getting in over my head. I'll show him," Davis thought. He didn't see Ken step out of the bus at all. This was enought for him to ask out loud, "Where's Ken?"
The other DigiDestined and everyone else didn't see Ken step out of the bus with his teammates, either.
"Where is he?" Kari asked.
"Izzy? No, we're waiting for Ken!" TK said.
"Uh, we know that. Yolei said. Yolei is growing very impatient. "Ken's not coming, is he. Cody?"
"Will you stop asking me if I say yes?" Cody asked.
"No, I won't!" Yolei answered, squeezing Poromon.
"Lucky for me I have no spine!" Poromon said, being squeezed.
Davis went over to Ken's team to ask if Ken was running late or something. He needed to find out what was up.
"Hello, uh, excuse me, any of you know when that Ken kid is supposed to be here?" Davis asked.
"Well, he's got a soft drink commercial to shoot, then he's having a meeting about a soccer ball being named after him," one of the boys said.
"Ken hardly has time to play soccer anymore," another boy said. Davis ends up being disappointed.
"I'll never get to play him," Davis groaned.
"Hey Davis, can we talk?" Tai asked. Davis walked over to him. "Even if Ken doesn't show, his teammates are still champions. If you're not careful, they'll use you as the soccer ball!"
"No way," Davis scoffed. He turned to the other DigiDestined in the bleechers.
"But you gotta know that if you play last years champions!" TK called out.
"Win or lose, you'll still be a hero!" Kari called out.
"Yeah! I'll still be a living legend! Cool!" Davis said.
"Why do I have to stay here if Ken isn't here? It's not like I don't have important things I could be doing you know," Yolei said.
"But what about Davis?" Cody reminded her.
The game begins when the referee blew his whistle.
Let's Kick It Up!
"I gotta play as well as Ken. I just gotta!" Davis thought.
Davis and the others play a good round. They didn't give the other team and edge as they kicked and headbutted the soccer ball. Davis didn't let any of Ken's teammates have the ball for long, so Ken gave the ball a good kick, sending it into the goal, earning them 1 point. The referee blew his whistle, ending the first half.
...
Kari was taking pictures as Davis played well.
"It's rewinding. There. You look good on camera!" Kari said, showing Davis his picture.
"Thanks, Kari. I kicked butt out there, didn't I?" Davis asked.
"And you kicked the ball good, too!" DemiVeemon said.
"Yeah, that too!" Davis said as he laughed.
"You nailed that shot, Davis!" TK said.
"Hey, you guys only lead by one goal," Tai said.
"The game's still wide open, and Ken could still show up," Sora added.
"And what's Ken gonna do? Please. If we were here right now, I'd show him..." Davis boasted.
"IT'S HIM!" Some of the girl exclaimed over Davis. Davis could have kept his mouth shut about that.
"Me and my big mouth." Davis said to himself. Ken started to walk down the steps. Yolei was the most excited to see Ken walk down.
"It's Ken! I can't believe it! I must be dreaming! Somebody pinch me!" Yolei exclaimed as Cody pinched her arm. "Ow!" Ken looked down from the steps and he recognized the DigiDestined. "He looked right at us! Oh, I'm going to faint!"
He looks directly at Davis with a hateful expression.
Davis thought, "So, that's what all the fuss is about? I dunno, he doesn't look so tough."
Ken kept it up for a few seconds and regains his posture as he continued to walk down the steps.
"What was that all about?" Sora asked.
"I don't know, but for all the attention he's getting, that guy sure knows how to keep his cool," Tai said.
"Hey, I'm cool!" Davis shot back.
"More like lukewarm," Tai teased.
"Oh, that's so funny I forgot to laugh," Davis said.
Ken approached the coach who has a smile on his face despite being behind by one point.
"Hey, Ken, we're glad you could make it today," the coach said.
"Sorry I'm late, coach, but there was something I had to do first," Ken explained.
"Don't worry about it. We're just glad you found the time for us at all! Can I put you in the game now?" The coach asked.
"If that's what you want," Ken said.
"Now substituting, Number 7: Ken 'The Rocket' Ichijouji!" The announcer announced as the girls gave off a swooning scream and both teams got into position for play.
"You must be Ken. I'm Davis. Nice ta meetcha!" Davis introduced himself. Ken didn't say anything, so he looked over to the bleechers where the DigiDestined sit.
"Oh my gosh, he looked right at me, Poromon! Can you believe he's even cuter in person than he is on TV? I could just hug him all day!" Yolei exclaimed as she squeezed Poromon.
"He's not an accordion, Yolei," Cody said.
"He's just a kid like you, Davis!" Kari called out.
"You can outrun him!" TK added.
"Give him a game he won't forget!" Sora added.
"You can do it! And even if you can't, we won't think any less of you, man!" Tai said. Ken just grinned.
"Some nice friends you got there," Ken said.
The second half of the game starts as soon as the referee blew on his whistle gain. Ken ran around Davis before he knew what happened.
Run Around
"Wow! No wonder he's called 'The Rocket'," Davis said at awe.
Ken zings and zaps his way passed Davis's teammates. Everyone watching were awestruck by what they saw.
"Did you catch that move?" Tai asked.
"I saw it, Tai!" Sora said.
"He's fantastic!" Kari said.
"Hands off, I saw him first!" Yolei snapped at Kari. Ken gave the ball a good kick, allowing his team to take 1 point.
"Goal scored by The Rocket!" The announcer announced.
"Houston, we have a problem," Davis said.
"He's so amazing and did I mention dreamy?" Yolei asked.
"Would you like for me to pinch you again?" Cody asked.
"Yolei Ichijouji. Ken and Yolei Ichijouji!" Yolei said in a lovesick manner.
"Now that Ken's tied up the game, I wonder how it's going to affect Davis's confidence," Tai said.
"Probably not long enough," Sora said.
Ken ran with the soccer ball at his feet and kicked it over Davis's head, much to amazement.
"Whao, how'd he do that?" Davis asked.
The game went on as Ken has scored some additional points for his team.
"Davis isn't looking too good out there," Tai said.
"Ken's running circles around him! It's like Davis isn't even there!" Kari said.
"Easy shooting goals into an empty net! Ken has more than just skill, he leads his team like a General leading his army!" TK said.
The score is now 9 to 1 on the scoreboard.
"I don't believe this guy! He's not just good, he's great!" Davis said.
"Stick to the playbook I wrote, everyone! We've got em on the run! All forwards and midfielders move up!" Ken said. Ken has the ball. The opposite team ran to catch up with Ken. He was close enough to make the finishing kick, but Davis slides in.
"No!" Davis exclaimed as he slides and scrapes Ken on his leg. This causes Ken to fall and the ball to roll out of bounds.
"Nice tackle! Have a good trip Ken, see you next fall!" Tai called out.
...
"Time's run out! And the Green Tomachi team, led by Ken "The Rocket" Ichijouji, wins 9-1!" The announcer announced.
"Yeah!" Ken's team cheered as they savored their victory. Davis then appraches Ken.
"Hey Ken, is your leg alright? Sorry about that tackle. I guess I caught you off-guard," Davis said.
"I barely felt it. Too busy thinking about scoring goals," Ken said.
"So I guess you heard. Your teammates probably told you about how I was dominating the field, how unstoppable I was before you came," Davis said.
"I don't know. Somebody may have mentioned something about your play. Keep it up and you might win a championship," Ken said.
"Well, once you came along, and you guys got so far ahead, I figured it was all or nothing, so I just went for it on that last play," Davis said.
"I was obviously focused on scoring another goal and didn't see you coming. That play never fails," Ken said.
"Well, it did against me," Davis said.
"Indeed. Well, my worthy adversary. Farewell, until we meet again in battle," Ken said, holding up his hand.
"Huh?" Davis asked himself. "Worthy adversary?" He shook Ken's hand.
Once the game was over, the DigiDestined were walking, making their way home. Davis was delighted to have shaken Ken's hand, but Yolei was rather disappointed that Davis didn't get an autograph for her.
"And then we shook hands, and he said he admired me," Davis said.
"Oh, come on," Tai scoffed.
"I've never seen you this happy about losing a game," Kari said.
"It wasn't that bad. And guess what. He called me his worthy adversary. I mean, The Rocket practically said I'm as good as he is!" Davis said. Yolei moaned in disappointment.
"Why so down, Yolei?" Sora asked.
"Ugh! I can't believe he didn't get his autograph!" Yolei cried, ignoring Sora.
"Need a pinch?" Cody asked.
"I don't think that'll do it, Cody," Sora said.
"That sliding block you did was ultra-cool, Davis!" TK said.
"Yeah, cool!" Kari added.
"It made my toes tingle!" DemiVeemon said.
"You know what I predict? I betcha me and Ken will be on the same championship team someday," Davis said.
"I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Why don't you try something? Why don't you try scoring at least one goal against him?" Tai suggested.
"Very funny, Tai. But I guess you've got a point. I'll have to try that..."
Everyone except for Yolei laughed. Unknown to the DigiDestined, Ken was standing on the bridge above them and watched them leave. Ken laughed before he scolwed.
"Go ahead. Laugh while you are still able. For the time draws closer to when you shall bow before me. No one is my equal, as you shall find out soon," Ken thought as he grinned evilly.
In the computer room on Monday morning, the DigiDestined have arrieved to the computer room.
"Gimme me your hand!" Yolei demanded.
"Why?" Davis asked.
"I'll tell you why! Because I said so!" Yolei stated.
"Huh? Here ya go," Davis said, holding out his hand.
"Since you shook hands with Ken, if I shake hands with you, it'll almost be like I'm shaking hands with him!" Yolei said, attempting to shake Davis's hand. She pulled back after a brief hesitation. "Ugh...I can't do it. It's not the same. I need to see my beloved in person."
"Oh, brother," the rest of the DigiDestined sighed.
Cody rolled his eyes when he looked at the computer screen. He exclaimed when he saw it. He saw a black square on the screen.
"Just, what are you doing, Cody?" TK asked.
"I can't believe it!" Cody exclaimed.
"You're dreaming...let me pinch you!" Upamon said.
"It's a Control Spire?" Cody asked.
"What's it doing there?" Kari asked.
"Controlling...spiring...the usual," Gatomon replied.
"It must have been built overnight," Cody guessed.
"So just where is it located?" TK asked.
"I don't know. This map doesn't show the points of interest," Cody said.
"It's the Forbidden Valley of No Return," Upamon said.
"Why do bad guys always name things like that?" Kari asked.
"It's in their job description! It's right after really stinky breath," TK said.
"Even if this place was called 'The Valley of Duckies and Bunnies', with a control spire there, there's trouble," Cody said.
"We've got to destroy it before it's used to control all the Digimon, yeah?" TK asked. Kari gasped.
"Right!" Kari agreed.
TK, Kari, and Cody turned to Davis and Yolei.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go, Davis!" TK said. Davis and Yolei were still holding their hands up, attempting to shake.
"You really sure about this? DigiPort open," Davis said.
Here We Go!
The DigiDestined go through the DigiPort. They go in the order of Davis and Veemon, Yolei and Hawkmon, Cody and Armadillomon, TK and Patamon, Kari and Gatomon.
...
The DigiDestined have arrived to the Forbidden Valley of No Return. There was a Control Spire in a distance, so they had to move forward to reach it and destroy it. They saw it was a vast and barren wasteland. It was no wonder it was given that name.
"Wow, this valley sure looks forbidden, alright," Kari said.
"A few duckies and bunnies would spruce it up," Davis said.
"Come on, quit kidding around. The Digimon Emperor could be around here anywhere, so stay sharp," TK stated.
"Let's stay together," Cody suggested as they started to walk.
"I think this valley is kind of quaint and homey," Davis said.
"More like homely," Davis countered.
"Quiet, you guys. You don't want the Emperor to hear us coming," Kari said. Suddenly, without warning, Yolei and Hawkmon yelped as they end up being swallowed by the earth. "I bet he heard that."
"My gosh, they're gone!" Gatomon exclaimed.
"Whoa!" TK, Kari, Cody, Patamon, Gatomon, and Armadillomon are also swallowed up by the earth.
"Whoa! Did you see that, Veemon?! Are you okay?! The ground just ate our friends!" Davis exclaimed.
"Maybe it'll swallow us next!" Veemon said.
The DigiDestined continue to fall deeper in a void as they screamed. Back outside, Davis is digging with his hands like a gopher, trying to rescue them.
"I think you'd better call Tai to help us out," Veemon said.
"No way, Veemon! That'll take way too long! Help me dig before we find more trouble!" Davis said.
"More trouble has found you!" A familiar voice shouted out. Davis recognized the voice as he stood on his feet.
"Digimon Emperor, what have you done? Where are my friends?!" Davis demanded.
"Your friends as you call them are here with me. Come and see for yourself, if you dare!" The Digimon Emperor said. With that said, Davis and Veemon started to run toward the Control Spire.
"Run, Veemon! The ground could open up and swallow us any second!" Davis said.
"I wanted to start getting more exercise, but running for my life wasn't what I had in mind!" Veemon said.
"I'm more worried about our friends right now!" Davis stated.
We're coming!" Veemon shouted.
"The Emperor's voice came from this direction!" Davis said.
"I hope so!" Veemon said.
Davis and Veemon stopped when they spotted the Digimon Emperor standing on a hill.
"There he is! You're going to get it!" Davis hissed. The Digimon Emperor snickered evilly.
"I'm so scared," the Digimon Emperor taunted.
"Let my friends go! What have you done with them?" Davis asked.
"Your friends are at my mercy. And so, it would appear, are you," the Digimon Emperor said, gesturing to the rest of the DigiDestined and their Digimon. Davis and Veemon turned and saw that they're now tied up and hanging from a bridge.
"Oh no, guys!" Davis gasped.
"Davis, save yourself!" Kari pleaded.
"You can still escape!" TK said.
"Don't take your eyes off of the Emperor!" Cody said.
"What are you waiting for?! Save me!" Yolei demanded.
"Don't worry, I'll think of something!" Davis said. Davis attempted to save them when the Digimon Emperor spoke up.
"Think fast, your time's running out. Whoops, times up," the Digimon Emperor laughed evilly.
"Oh, no!" Davis eclaimed.
"Awaken, Deltamon!" The Digimon Emperor shouted.
"Maybe it's a ducky or a bunny!" Veemon said. The hill next to the bridge cracked and it was no ducky or bunny at all. It was a large dragon-like Digimon. It has purple skin with a white underbelly. It has two heads on its hands, one being metal and one being skull. The same can be with with the two tails since one is metallic and the other is skeletal. It has a Dark Ring around its torso. The Digimon roared upon entrance. "Or not!"
"Just what is that thing, Veemon?" Davis asked.
The Digimon Analyzer activates.
"Deltamon is a dragon-type Digimon with a metal head for one hand, and a skull for the other! His attacks are Tri-Flex Force and Serpent Bite!" Veemon said as the Digimon Analyzer deactivates.
"What luck you all dropped by. You see, it's Deltamon's dinnertime, and I think eating your friends will make a well-balanced meal, don't you?" the Digimon Emperor as the DigiDestined all screamed, feeling scared.
"Oh, no you won't! I'll never let you get away with this!" Davis said.
"It appears you have no choice. If you want mercy, you must beg for it," the Digimon Emperor said.
"Huh?" Davis and Veemon asked.
"You heard me, you pathetic loser! Now on your knees and beg!" The Digimon Emperor said. "And I want you to say' Please, Master, spare my friends'." Seeing that he had no choice, he got on his knees.
"Don't Davis!" Veemon pleaded.
"Please, Master, spare my friends," Davis said.
"Please Master, spare my worthless friends," the Digimon Emperor said. Davis growled. He bowed his head down.
"Please, Master, spare my worthless friends," Davis said.
"That's excellent! Now, Veemon! Restrain him...I command you!" The Digimon Emperor commanded.
"Never!" Veemon defiantly said.
"It's okay, Veemon. Do what he says," Davis said. Veemon looked to his partner.
"Davis?" Veemon asked.
"Do it for the others. If it'll save our friends, then obey the Emperor," Davis said.
Veemon whimpered as he briefly hesitates before he stepped on Davis's head. The Emperor laughed/
"Seeing you squirm is so delicious. You are so entertaining, maybe I should take pity on you," the Digimon Emperor said.
"Yeah?" Davis asked.
"As you can see, Deltamon has only 3 mouths. But there are 4 children. Therefore, you may have one. Sadly, I cannot spare them all. Choose who will be spared," the Digimon Emperor said.
"So I have to choose?" Davis asked. Deltamon roared, making the hostages scream. "I can't do it! How do I pick one over the other?!" Davis exclaimed. The Digimon Emperor took out an hourglass.
"This decision must be done delicately. Delicately. You have until the sand's run out to choose. And it isn't long, pretty boy. It isn't long," the Digimon Emperor said.
"Don't worry about me, Davis! Save one of the others!" Kari said.
"Get out of here, Davis! Go ahead, save yourself!" TK said.
"Oh, sure...make ME look bad! Fine then, DON'T save me!" Yolei snapped.
"Whatever you decide to do, Davis, we trust you! So think of something!" Cody said.
"I...I...uh, I just can't do it! How am I supposed to choose only one of my friends?!" Davis asked.
"Like sands in the hourglass, so are your friends' lives," the Digimon Emperor said.
"I just...I...I can't do it!" Davis exclaimed.
"Will you throw ALL their lives away? Is that what you call friendship?" The Digimon Emperor asked.
"They're all my friends!" Davis said. He then begins to think, "Kari! TK! Cody! Yolei!" Being unable to make up his mind, he began screaming. The Digimon Emperor sadistically laughs.
"You brought this on yourself. You made me look like a fool. Now, you must suffer," the Digimon Emperor thought. The sand ran out of the hourglass.
"Huh?" Davis asked, opening his eyes.
"And now, DigiDestined, time's up. It's time to say goodbye," the Digimon Emperor said. Deltamon was moving in to devour the DigiDestined, but Davis couldn't let his friends die, so he had only one thing left to do.
"Wait! Take me instead of the others!" Davis said.
"You think YOU can satisfy his hunger? Alright. Deltamon!" The Digimon Emperor said. Deltamon sets his attention onto Davis and slowly walked toward him.
"Look out, Davis!" TK called out.
"Davis, if you've been holding out and planning a surprise attack, now would be a good time to yell 'surprise'!" Veemon shouted.
"Surprise?" Davis asked.
"It isn't funny!" Veemon snapped. As Deltamon took a step, he felt the ground beneath his foot and he fell to the side. Out of the smoke, Digmon appeared.
"Surprise? It isn't even my birthday!" Digmon said.
"It's Digmon!" Davis said.
Up above, Halsemon, Pegasusmon, and Nefertimon come flying in.
"Incoming!" Pegasusmon and Nefertimon shouted as Davis and Veemon turned to see them.
"Pegasusmon! Halsemon! Nefertimon!" Veemon said.
The rest of the DigiDestined come running up behind Davis, leaving him confused by how they could be at two places at once.
"It's just an illusion! We're alright!" TK said.
"But, if you're here, then who's that?" Davis asked. The hostages all revealed themselves to be enslaved Bakemon. Davis gasped when he saw the ghost-like Digimon with his very thought to himself, "It's those things from the convention center."
Eww, gross!" Yolei gagged at the sight of them.
"Those are Bakemon!" TK said.
"Bakemon?" Davis asked.
The Digimon Analyzer activates.
"Despite their obvious dental hygiene problems, Bakemon are able to accurately impersonate any other creature. Their attack is called the 'Dark Claw'," Veemon said. The Digimon Analyzer deactivates. "He made the Bakemon look like our friends!" The Digimon Emperor was angered by his plans were foiled.
"I can't believe it! You dumb Bakemon, I had that kid right where I wanted him!" The Digimon Emperor angrily exclaimed. Wormmon crawls up to him.
"It's not my fault," Wormmon said.
"I can't believe you pulled that trick on me! You made me beg for you to spare my friends all over some sick, demented joke! I am never gonna look the other way for this! Go get him, Veemon!" Davis said.
"It'll be my pleasure." Veemon said.
The D-Terminal extends.
"Digi Armor Energize!"
The DigiEgg of Courage Comes out.
Armor Digivolution theme
Digimon
"Veemon Armor Digivolve to..."
Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon are the champions!
Veemon fuses with his DigiEgg and is engulfed in by rings of fire that takes shape. The images of Agumon and his Digivolutions appear. Out of the fire, claws extend from his fists and then a spike from his helmet.
Armor Digivolve!
Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon are the Champions!
"Flamedramon, the Fire of Courage!
Digimon!
Digimon Emperor: Bakemon, you gapped-tooth fools! Attack!" The Digimon Emperor ordered as the Bakemon started to come for the Digimon Emperor. "Not me, them!" The Bakemon flew toward the flying Armor Digimon/
"Here they come," Pegasusmon said.
"They're everywhere," Halsemon said.
"Like mosquitoes," Nefertimon said.
"Attack them!" The Digimon Emperor ordered.
"Dark Hand!" The Bakemon shouted as they punched the flying Armor Digimon.
"I never saw mosquitoes do that," Davis said. They all gasped.
"The Emperor is controlling them! The Dark Rings the Bakemon are wearing are the key! He's ordering them around like a general leading an army!" TK said.
"Not for long! I'm gonna get that guy!" Davis said, running to the opposite side of the hill to get to the Digimon Emperor.
"Digmon, let's help them out from down here!" Flamedramon said.
"Right. We'll show them that they don't stand a ghost of a chance against us," Digmon said.
"Fire Rocket!" Flamedramon shouted, firing his fireballs from his gauntlets.
"Gold Rush!" Digmon shouted, firing his drills.
The Bakemon dodged their attacks.
"Bakemon, finish them!" The Digimon Emperor commanded. The Bakemon moved in to deliever the next attack. "I have them now."
"Never!" Davis shouted as he jumps and tackles the Digimon Emperor off the hill.
"I'll stay here and guard the hill!" Wormmon said.
"You try to take over the digital world and destroy me? Well, I'm taking you with me! You call yourself the Digimon Emperor. What's with that?" Davis asked.
"I am a genius! I cannot lose to a child like you!" The Digimon Emperor said.
"Like me? You are like me!" Davis said as they slide down to the bottom. The Digimon Emperor kicked him off. "You're a kid, just like us!"
"I think not! Deltamon! Tri-Flex Force!" The Digimon Emperor ordered. Deltamon began to build up blue energy in his three mouths. "Say goodbye!" The Digimon Emperor laughs. And that's when Flamedramon came.
"Hello," Davis said.
"Flamedramon!" Davis said.
"Why leave so soon? The party's just starting," Flamedramon said. Deltamon fired his attack and sends it right at Flamedramon. Flamedramon jumped up in the air as Deltamon's attack took the shape of an arrow and fired it right at Flamedramon. "Fire Rocket!" He cuts through the energy attack like a knife through a cake.
"Flamedramon, aim for the Dark Ring!" Davis shouted. Flamedramon heard his partner's voice and destroyed Deltamon's Dark Ring and freeing him. The Digimon Emperor became flustered. The Bakemon then started to feel wobbly.
"It's working! The Emperor's power over the Bakemon is weakening!" TK said.
"It's now or never. This is our chance to attack! Star Shower!" Pegasusmon shouted, firing his attack from his wings. The Dark Rings on the Bakemon are destroyed and now freed from the Emperor's control.
"Target the Control Spire!" Digmon said.
Halsemon, "Tempest Wing!"
Nefertimon, "Rosetta Stone!"
"Rock Cracking!" Digmon shouted, pushing his drills to the ground. Their attacks knocks down the Control Spires. "There she blows!"
"They did it!" TK, Kari, Yolei, and Cody exclaimed, knowing they won again.
...
"They did it! Yes! How does it feel to lose to someone like me, huh? So much for being a genius!" Davis said.
"No...no! What went wrong? My master plan was invincible! Ah, I forgot to factor in that you're one of those all-or-nothing types. I can't believe the same person made me look like a fool twice in the same day," the Digimon Emperor said.
"What do you mean, twice?" Davis asked. He noticed the stain on his leg. "Hey, how'd you get that cut on your leg?" He then begin to realize something that'll rock his world in a very bad way. "Wait, are you...could you be...?"
"I can be and I am. Ken Ichijouji!" The Digimon Emperor said, taking off the sunglasses. Davis was shocked to learn Ken Ichijouji and the Digimon Emperor are the same person.
"Ugh, I'm dreaming! Ken is the Digimon Emperor?" Davis asked.
"The one and only. Well, Davis, farewell for now, my worthy adversary. Until we meet again, in battle!" Ken said, putting his shades back on and jumping on the head of a passing enslaved Airdramon. Davis just stood there, shocked by this bit of news.
"I really looked up to you, Ken. I dreamed of being just like you. And now that I know you're my sworn enemy, all I can say is...and I mean this: YOU CAN KEEP YOUR CRUMMY AUTOGRAPH!" Davis shouted.
Now that Ken's secret is revealed, will the DigiDestined be able to stop him? Find out next time, on Digimon: Digital Monsters!
