I can't believe I'm doing another Shaggy x Daphne fic, yet I'm finding myself more intrigued with this pairing! Just a heads up, while I won't be focusing as much on the MYSTERY aspects that Scooby Doo is known for (I'll save those for any multi chaptered stories that might pertain to mysteries), there will still be mentions of a few mysteries Shaggy and Daphne went on, so don't worry about a thing! But yeah, I figured, why not have a new multichaptered Shaggy/Daphne fic, which sort of focuses more on the fluff? I mean, there were a few Scooby movies where the mystery wasn't exactly the main aspect, so why not? And if you guys want to see more, let me know! But I'm digressing. Let's see if I can get into the story proper!
And for those who are wondering 'what about Being My Superhero', don't worry, that story is getting close to done. I just want to post the first chapter of this story before anything else! So, hope you guys enjoy!
It was another long night in the city of Coolsville... with everybody practically in their homes, either relaxing or sleeping off the night. Either way, there was only one house that had plenty of lights on was a large mansion on the top of a hill. More specifically, the only rooms in the manor that were lit up was that of a girl's bedroom, more specifically, Daphne Blake's bedroom, where the young rich girl was holding the biggest sleepover of the century.
Well, maybe not the BIGGEST sleepover of the century, since, after all, it was just a small gathering... and even then, it was a private get-together between two kids and a young Great Dane pup, who was currently invested in the movie the three of them were watching together.
A young boy wearing a green pajama shirt and green pajama bottoms was lying on his stomach as he watched the TV in curiosity, while the Great Dane pup was hogging the popcorn for himself. Not that Shaggy didn't mind, as he was a little too terrified by the person's choice of movie they were watching.
"Like, I appreciate that you invited me to a sleepover movie night, just you, me and a pup named Scooby-Doo, but... did you have to pick a scary movie, Daphne?" Shaggy bit his lip nervously as he turned towards the occupant on his left.
The young red haired girl wearing a pink robe and white slippers was sitting down cross-legged, rolling her eyes a bit as she turned to her friend/puppy-crush. "You're the one who accepted the Scooby Snack for my choice."
Shaggy deflated a bit as he looked down. "Yeah, I know..."
"That, and with Velma and Fred out with their parents for the week, I couldn't just leave you and Scooby out and alone, and I happen to still be in the general vicinity, so... why NOT invite you two over to a small sleepover and a movie night, hm?" Daphne smiled. "Besides, you two are the bestest friends a girl like me could have."
Shaggy paused briefly as he looked over at the smiling girl. He gave a small smile and a slight blush. "I'm flattered, Daph, really, I am."
By that time, Scooby had finished up the first bowl of popcorn as he licked his chops, giving a smile. "Rey! Rot any rore?"
Daphne smiled as she pointed to the back. "You know my parents set up a whole buffet table of food just for you guys to enjoy! Just... don't get any all over my furniture or my bed... or heaven forbid, my clothes."
"Rou rot it." Scooby grinned as he ran over to the large buffet table of snacks stationed in the back, as Shaggy looked up.
"Like, save a few Red Vines for me, Scoob!" Shaggy laughed a bit as he turned back to the TV... before wincing as he saw the large monster roaring at the screen. "Zoinks!"
Daphne giggled a bit as she put her arm around Shaggy's neck and patted his shoulder to calm him down. "Shaggy, you are so cute when you overreact. Like I've said plenty of times, there are no such things..."
"As ghosts and monsters, I know, I know." Shaggy groaned. "I can't help it, Daph. You know how squeamish I can be."
"I disagree. Yes, you are a coward, but I think in most moments, you can be quite brave." Daphne smiled.
Shaggy raised an eyebrow. "How so-?"
"Sh!" Daphne shushed the boy, ending the conversation slightly. Shaggy paused as he turned back towards Scooby, who had somehow managed to get an armful of food as he managed to walk on two of his hind legs to come back with the food, before settling it between him and Shaggy.
"Rack rime!" Scooby announced as he grabbed some nachos and started to chow down quickly, making sure not to leave a mess on Daphne's floor.
Shaggy couldn't help but stare back at Daphne absentmindedly, as she was only watching the movie in pure delight. Shaggy calmed down slightly as he noted the pretty look on the girl's face, before focusing on the food in hand. Wasting no time, he decided to help himself to some Red Vines and popcorn. All in all, a sweet little moment between three friends.
The movie was over, and it was lights out for everyone. The young pup named Scooby had already settled in for the night, sleeping like a normal dog on his sleeping bag, and Daphne had just come out of the bathroom and arrived back to her room, feeling refreshed.
"Ahhh, now that was soothing." Daphne smiled... before noting Scooby's suggestion. "Heh, Scooby is so cute when he's asleep. Guess the movie and the excitement of today wore him out for now... heh, but I'm sure he'll wake us up again soon, right Shaggy?"
Daphne turned her head and paused as she noted Shaggy looking out the window, at the stars. Daphne raised an eyebrow as she joined Shaggy. "Uh, Shaggy?"
"Huh?" Shaggy blinked twice, Daphne's voice now reaching his ears.
Daphne scoffed a bit as she kneeled down next to him. "Honestly, Shaggy, pay attention. One of the burglars that usually tries to break in but never succeeds could have broken in and succeeded at stealing something valuable, like jewelry or me, and you wouldn't bat an eye!"
"Like, not true." Shaggy shook his head. "If someone had tried to kidnap you, we'd do whatever it takes to get you back. After all, Daphne, we're a team."
The young red haired girl paused as she gave a smile. "You mean that?"
"Of course I do..." Shaggy smiled, before looking back slightly. "Hey, Daph?"
"Hm?" Daphne raised an eyebrow.
"Have you ever wondered what it would be like... you know, after mystery solving?" Shaggy asked, causing Daphne to widen her eyes in surprise. "I mean, don't get me wrong, like, we're great at mystery solving, but beyond that... what do you think our future has in store for all of us?"
Daphne paused as she looked at Shaggy. "Honestly, I... I'm not sure. I mean, I would love to open up my own fashionista boutique, but there are also times where the idea of journalism fascinates me."
The young, lanky boy looked over at his friend, before smiling. "Those are nice dreams to have. They're... you dreams."
Daphne giggled as she poised her head in a cute fashion. "Of course they are."
"Well... every night, I've been looking at the stars and wondering if I can be more than just the coward of the group, the man with the dog... the always hungry man with the active imagination. I mean, I can be a lot of things... a cook, an athlete..."
"You, an athlete?" Daphne giggled, causing Shaggy to glare at his friend. The young girl quickly realized her mistake. "Don't get me wrong, it's just... you're a great runner, Shaggy, but... I don't think I can imagine you as an athlete."
The young boy calmed down slightly, before looking out. "But you know, one of the things I'd really like to be is more of a... family man."
"A family man?" Daphne asked in surprise.
"I know it's a little early to be thinking hard about this, but... considering I have my parents, and my baby sister Sugie... and Scooby Doo, of course... I guess I've always dreamed of having a big family. Maybe a nice wife to come home to, and I can help relax her by massaging her shoulders after the rough day she had, I listen to her anecdotes, maybe play with a child or two... maybe another dog of my own, if Scooby isn't still around." Shaggy sighed happily, causing Daphne to pause.
"Wow, Shaggy, that's... a pretty deep dream." Daphne gave a small breath.
"Yeah, but... like, it's not an absolute thing, you know? I could be travelling as well, or we could still be full time detectives, if the Scooby Doo Detective Agency grows beyond. Either way..." Shaggy frowned. "I'm worried that if I grow up... if all of us do, I don't really want to separate from the best friends I've made."
Daphne looked up at Shaggy and gave a small smile. "You really see me as your best friend."
"You're snobby, but beyond that, you're wonderful, a great friend." Shaggy smiled towards Daphne. "Not having you around... well, I wouldn't know where to go."
Daphne felt a little worried for her friend as she looked at the boy, staring up at the stars... before giving a smile. "Shaggy, how about we make a promise?"
Shaggy turned to his friend in confusion before Daphne grabbed his hand. "What sort of a promise? Is this, like, a Scooby Doo Detective Agency promise...?"
"No... this is a promise between Shaggy and Daphne... a 'Shaphne' promise!" Daphne smiled. "I'm going to promise you that no matter what happens, even if we grow up, we're never going to be apart."
"You will?" Shaggy gasped as he felt Daphne's hand squeeze his tightly.
Daphne gave a warm smile back towards her friend as she leaned towards his ear and whispered, "I promise..."
The young boy looked back towards the girl he liked with a blush on his cheeks. "Even if we have to raise our own families?"
"I'm sure our families will be wonderful." Daphne grinned as she leaned her head on Shaggy's shoulder.
This eased Shaggy's mind as he put an arm around the girl's waist, holding her close as they continued to look up at the stars for a few minutes... before he heard Daphne yawn. Shaggy looked over at the sleepy girl with a smile. "How about we go to sleep, huh?"
Daphne sleepily nodded as she leaned over and kissed Shaggy on the cheek, causing him to yelp in surprise. "Good night, Shaggy."
The young boy watched Daphne climb into her rather large bed as she settled herself in. He paused as he held his cheek, before giving a smile. "Good night, Daphne..."
As he went to his sleeping bag to sleep, he couldn't help but wonder what his future would hold... how everything would turn out to be... but he knew one thing. As long as he had Daphne by his side, things were going to be okay... and while he wasn't sure what his future would hold, he had a feeling that things were going to turn out all right.
Before he closed his eyes, he looked over at his young friend, snuggling herself towards her bed. He smiled as he went to sleep... and as he did, Daphne opened one eye to note her puppy crush was sleeping as well... before giving a giggle as she turned her head, noting the time...

And that is the first chapter done and out! What did you guys think? Like I said, there's going to be a lot more to come with this story, especially since I have a couple of ideas for how I want this story to go! And before you ask, this is going to be the only chapter where 'A Pup Named Scooby Doo' is going to be involved. The rest of the story will be about the adult versions of Shaggy and Daphne, which you'll understand why in the next chapter! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, folks!
