-chapter 20 - Etemon's Vile fanclub
-Inn -begin Braveheart (Digimon Adventure Tri remix) by Azumi Miyazaki
As the day's light filtered into the windows of the DigiDestined known as Lucy stirred as she lazily opened her scarlet eyes. She saw Patamon dozing and drooling with a dopey smile on his orange mug of a face. She heard his stomach growl... he was dreaming of food yet again. She hated to annoy him but she'd do it yet again. "Hey... Patamon. Patamon... Hey Patamon meat apple!''
Jumping right off the mattress and landing square on his snout the orange Rookie whirled around looking for the precious (and delicious) aforementioned food item. Seeing nothing but Lucy grinning at him he put 2 and 2 together. He'd been duped again. "Lucy cut that out. Its getting repetitive." He said half scolding his partner.
"Ahahhahahah! I keep getting you with that. You think you'd learn by now!" The pink haired girl howled in a big fit of giggling.
Her partner monster was far from amused however. He glowered at her with what could be considered his best death glare he could muster. This meat apple wake-up call joke was really wearing out its welcome. "Knock it off Lucy!"
Deciding to have more fun with her little friend Lucy copied him. She then made a mocking pawing motion at him. ''Knock it off Lucy.''
''Ooohhh... !'' Patamon raged only Lucy copied him again.
''Ooohhh... !" Lucy copied just to frazzle him up.
"Stop copying me Lucy!" Patamon ranted.
"Stop copying me Lucy." Lucy copied him.
It was then her Digivice bleeped on. The special pattern of bleeps told her who it was in an instant (in this case the Holy Trinity). ''Hmm... Wonder what they want today?'' Lucy wondered out loud as she typed in the button commands to speak to the angelic trio. "Hmm? You want me to meet the Trinity and see how our progress is going? Take who along? Why? Head where? Oh alright OK I'm on it then. Patamon we're heading to the Digital World.''
''Huh? Why there?'' Patamon said finishing his fruit filled rice bar he had hidden in the nightstand drawer. It was one of his several goodie stashes hidden throughout the Inn.
''The Trinity wants to see how our progress against the Network is going." She said deactivating her Digivice.
-soon
After seeing everyone was up early... mostly to watch their favorite Saturday morning anime Mayu and Renamon noticed Lucy had gotten dressed in her usual outfit. ''Where're ya heading?'' Mayu inquired sweetly.
''Yes have you suddenly gotten a hot date?'' Renamon deadpanned.
''Patamon and I need to visit the Holy Trinity. They want to hear our progress against the Network. We're heading out pretty soon. Quickly Nana, Mariko get dressed you're coming too. The Trinity wants to meet you both.'' Lucy said motioning for Neemon and Bokomon to follow along after them.
This was big news to the Kurama sisters who exchanged nervous glances back at forth at each other. No one but Lucy had spent time in the Digital World. Naturally Nana was nervous about the whole ordeal. ''Are you sure that's a good idea?''
Gazing at her makeshift mommy Mariko tried to say something but nothing was heard. She was speechless. ''Don't worry Mariko I'll protect both of you. And Nana.'' Salamon piped up following along after the likes of the elder Diclonius girl.
''Uh... Happy motoring I guess.'' JP said giving a thumbs up.
Alex also had a few things to say. "But don't bite off more than you can chew, in other words watch yourselves.''
''But who'll cook and clean?'' Yuka asked nervously looking at the nearby mop and broom closet. She hated cleaning and had just gotten accustomed that Lucy did it every day for everyone. But if the Inn wasn't cleaned nobody could stay there for free.
''You guys will that's who. Digi-Port open.'' Lucy said as her Digivice opened up the portal leading to the digital world.
The queen Diclonius and her companions stepped through and vanished from sight then the portal itself dissipated. ''Well... who does what chore?'' Agumon asked still seated at the dining table and flipping through the newspaper.
-Digital World -begin Super Hero by Stereo Fuse
Once the portal opened the group looked around at their surroundings. Not much had changed in the minds of Patamon, Salamon, Neemon, Bokomon, and Lucy as they saw the large grassy fields blow gently in the mild breeze. Looking around Patamon also saw not much had changed in this timid section of the digital world. "Well I say its time we get this show on the road. C'mon we gots loads of stuff to do and no telling when the Network will attack again so I say we hoof it.'' Salamon said running along as fast as she could to the Asuka Inn.
"Hey wait up Salamon!'' Nana called out as she tried to catch up to her partner Digimon.
Figuring that Salamon was heading for the not too distant Asuka Inn Lucy and Patamon sprinted right after them leaving the very flustered trio of Neemon, Mariko, and Bokomon in their friend's dust. The scholar sighed then facepalmed. ''Oh those ninnies always in a rush. You'd swear them running so fast their pants were on fire."
"But I don't see their pants on fire... I'm confused." Neemon said yet again losing the conversation point entirely.
After seeing it done enough times Mariko got a nod from the mutant scholar and snapped Neemon's pant's waistband making him let out a loud yelp. Bokomon and Neemon then went about pushing Mariko's wheelchair down to the not too far off Asuka Inn.
-soon
Soon enough the group arrived at the Asuka Inn and just after knocking a few times on the door which opened to reveal a large white bird based Digimon. "Hmm... Oh Lucy my dear! Its good to see you again. Patamon and Salamon you young ones are both looking healthy. And just who are these sweet dears hmm?'' Swanmon said greeting the group in a very heartwarming fashion. It was almost motherly. "Well don't stand there who are you sweetie?''
''Oh... Uh um I'm Nana I'm Salamon's partner. Mariko here is my sister.'' Nana said gesturing at the wheelchair bound girl.
After looking through enough picture books about animals Nana figured this female Digimon was based off some sort of bird called a swan or goose. They looked very similar. She figured this had to be the Swanmon Lucy talked about on learning her great cooking skills from. Swanmon then gestured the group inside for a more comfortable atmosphere. ''Well don't just stand out there like strangers come in come in you all must be hungry if you're up this early. Let ol' Miss Swanmon fix you something.''
Setting around a well made wooden table in a very decent sized kitchen and dining room area the bird Digimon looked over what recipe she should whip up for her guests. After all she was essentially Lucy, Salamon, and Patamon's mother figure and taught them many things that couldn't be taught in school books. Patamon picked up on cleaning dishes, mopping, sweeping and such but couldn't get the knack for cooking... something that irritated him to no end.
Having no family to speak of Lucy was all alone with only her dog and Patamon by her side. The bird based inn keeper knew she wasn't the real thing but time and again cared for Lucy like she was her own child. When Lucy got fevers Swanmon cared her every second like a dutiful parent. Once Lucy skinned her knee very badly, Swanmon cleaned and bandaged it up like a true mother would. She thought to how many times Lucy seemed like a member of the family. She secretly overheard the pink haired lass mention those at the Inn were her family. It made the Champion level's heart melt. It was nice her kindness had such a profound effect on the girl over the years.
"Lucy dear could you help me make some caramel and molasses pancakes?'' The bird based monster said as the eldest girl went to help her. Those were the one the tallest girl absolutely loved.
Taking the pancake mix out from the cupboard, caramel syrup, and molasses, and the needed water in a mixing bowel. After being stirred enough Lucy poured the batter on the now hot griddle and eventually started cooking. After getting cooked to a golden brown on their bottom side so with a little encouragement Patamon flipped them over to cook to the exact same way on the other side.
Once the pancakes finished cooking Swanmon rummaged through the refrigerator for refreshments. She inquired if anyone wanted any. "Oh I almost forgot dearies... I've some chilled apple cider would you all like to have some?''
"Yeah we'll have a few.'' Salamon replied then turned to her partner Nana. ''Oh Nana you'll love Swanmon's apple cider. You too Mariko."
After eating up their freshly made breakfast the group helped Swanmon clean their dishes and bid farewell to Swanmon. Looking on her Digivice Lucy saw it was just about time for the Trailmon to come to the station. Ushering everyone to follow her along to the station platform they sat on the benches placed there.
''Ok it should be here pretty soon... " Salamon said checking on the time Nana's Digivice showed.
The said Trailmon that pulled into the station was one the pinkette hadn't seen in far too long, in its case it was Mole. His name came from the obvious fact his engine resembled a pink mechanical mole. He almost sounded like the cartoon dog Droopy. ''C'mon you weasily wimps I got places to go and things to do so move it. C'mon don't just sit there like bumps on a log. Load up and we'll be good to go."
Once the group alongside the other passengers boarded Mole let off a whistle signalling its time to head off. ''All aboard to the Forest Terminal.''
- soon - begin Invincible by Pat Benatar
As the Trailmon Mole started his route the radio played a hit from the USA dating to the 1980's... it was a favorite of Lucy. It was "Invincible" by Pat Benatar, the effect which it had on Lucy she first heard it was like it spoke to her and the miserable environment her orphanage was to her. She always hoped someone would rescue her from it and whisk her far, far away. So much that the events there were a forgotten memory. Some years went by and nothing changed and things hit a fever pitch as Tomoo and his flunkies tried to murder Jiro with a vase. She thought that was the end, until Patamon suddenly showed up, he was her guide, her friend, her support, her guardian, and her savior from a very dark chapter of her life. "Y'know what Patamon this music playing right now its always gonna be my song."
''You mean our song right partner?'' He half corrected indirectly saying it was a song for them both. A symbol of their bond, faith and trust in each other.
''Right." The rosy haired girl replied.
Seconds later she walked to the front of the train car and out the door. She stood by the railing as the wind whipped her rosy hued hair just content taking in the sight of grassy fields that whizzed by as Mole the Trailmon chugged along. It was a beautiful sight and the unspoiled scenery was so different from the concrete and metal of Kamakura. Lucy was so engrossed in her relaxation she didn't notice Mariko wheel herself next to her. ''Enjoying the scenic view my queen?'' She said looking up at her taller Diclonius housemate.
''Don't call me queen again please. It creeps me out... its like I'm some kind of big shot in a beehive. Ruining mankind is not the highest priority on my to-do-list.'' Lucy said glancing at the wheelchair bound girl. The older rosette curled her lips into a sneaky smirk. Mariko thought it was almost like she knew something she didn't. ''Look Mariko you're not my enemy. I stand by what I said before that I don't want any blood spilled between us. Mariko I know for a fact most of your early life has been a nightmare. But when I was pushed into being you and Nana's nanny... you can't sit there and tell me you didn't enjoy being tucked into a soft warm bed while I read a story to you both. Am I right?"
The girl just swung her feet lazily in her chair not sure what to say to that. True it was nice she thought being given nice tasty food, helping around with chores, and sleeping in a soft mattress and snuggling under the covers when the night air got chilly. "OK I do like it... " She admitted in a huffy tone glancing at her toes.
However something else had been bothering Lucy about Mariko. To be more exact it was why was she in her wheelchair in the first place. Her legs could move so she wasn't paralyzed so it had to be something else. "Why are you in a wheelchair might I ask? I can see you're not paralyzed.''
"My legs don't work very good. Why're you asking?'' Mariko inquired as she gazed out over the green hued scenic grass fields as the Trailmon kept chugging along.
Figuring that Mariko was puzzled as to why Lucy would ask her such a question she surmised it would be best to elaborate on her line of questioning. The two knew very little about the other so maybe a few rounds of Q & A would clear up the muddy waters between them. So Lucy told how her life was from the earliest days of youth, her Digital world years... to her time back in the human dimension. While not in the full need to know position Mariko pieced together bits and parts of what her father heard and the varied lab workers. Or as best she could understand them. Trying as hard as Lucy could to suppress her anger for Dr. Kurama for all the pain he inflicted on his children in the name of "science" she found it hard not to empathize with him choosing to let his wife live or let Mariko live instead. A choice like that would weigh heavily on anyone. "So we can get to know each better. I know nothing about you and you know little next to nothing about me. That's why.''
Picking up a cue from Swanmon's repertoire of motherly wisdom Lucy reached out and cradled the chair bound girl's right hand. Confused by the sudden physical contact Mariko's eyes went wide as saucers in shock. Then more bizarrely Lucy picked Mariko right out of her chair then said the strangest thing. "Oh you poor, poor child! I think somebody needs a hug.''
The taller girl then gave Mariko a deep warm motherly hug... much to Mariko's annoyance that is. "ACKK!" She griped out in protest. "Stop it! Put me down! Stop this hugging thing right now!''
Quick like a bunny Lucy put Mariko back in her chair. Apparently Mariko wasn't the hugging type the taller pinkette thought, shame though leaving Lucy a bit sad. She wheeled herself back into the train car to wait out the rest of her ride to the so-called Forest Terminal.
Eventually the likes of Mole had started to put on his brakes and the cars behind him ground to a stop. One of the group Nana asked if this was their stop. Of course Salamon answered back saying it was so the group exited the passenger car which now was stopped. As the party of the two young Diclonii, Digimon guides, Digimon partners, and Lucy found the stop. The two Kurama sisters saw the drop-off point looking like the base of an enormous tree and attached to the tree's front was a giant, castle built of some material resembling glass or crystal. It bore a great resemblance from the fairy tale books Lucy read to the two at bedtime. It's beautiful glittering walls gleamed like a finely created jewel masterpiece but to the likes of Nana and Mariko it was extremely intimidating.
Swallowing a bit Mariko craned her neck to how big the palace was. She'd never seen a building so big before. "Is this the place? It looks really creepy... Maybe we could come back later hmm?" She said nervously glancing at Nana.
But Nana didn't even begin at how to respond to her sister. The place was so big! Salamon chimed in to get the twosome to grow some guts. "C'mon you weasily wimps let's go in!"
Opening the large cathedral styled doors Lucy walked inside the building calm as could be. Her shorter pink haired companions followed along timidly after her.
-building interior
Surprising the unnerved girl the castle interior was well furbished resembling an office building than anything else which amazed her young mind. Stunning glass chandeliers hung from a ceiling painted in eggshell white. She looked to a very familiar desk which she gestured for her companions to follow after her. She heard boxes being moved around from a back room. Looking around the large lobby then to Nana, then to Salamon, and finally Patamon. She utters a very childish sounding phrase. "If I do it, I get a whippin'... I do it!" Lucy then repeatedly hit the service bell possibly up to 13 to 25 times.
As expected Patamon was not amused who just glared at her. Mostly for stooping down to such a childish level. She was supposed to set a good example for Mariko and Nana after all. Inevitably the bells ringing got the desk overseer into a frazzled state. "Enough I'm not deaf! Stop smacking the bell! We're coming as fast as we can!"
Both Nana and Mariko saw the male sounding voice revealed itself as... a person dressed in some wizard's outfit. He wore a yellow suit accented with red. His shoes were brown adorned by crescent moons while his tattered blue cape and hat with a skull decoration. It was Wizardmon and boy was he in a very foul mood. "Miss Lucille while I see you and your party's arrival here was swift but sweet, I'll say it only once my desk bell is NOT a toy!''
''Sorry had to." Lucy said stifling a giggle and getting another glare from Patamon.
Chiming in Salamon asked just what this whole deal entailed. Just why exactly did the Trinity need to speak with them all for? Obviously it was for important reasons but what were they? ''Anyways what's the fuss? What's the Trinity need to chat about?''
''That's a detail we weren't told. We were just told to summon you." Another voice said emerging from the backroom.
The likes of Lucy saw a familiar face. It was Sorcermon a Digimon who closely resembled Wizardmon except he wore white clothing. His tall hat lacked the skull pink haired girl ran to him grabbing in a half tackle half deep hug. ''Sorcermon? Sorcermon! I haven't seen you for so long. It's good to see you again. Wizardmon how have you been?''
It was clear the oldest girl was very happy to see her old wizard companions. A hug was nice but right pleasantries had to be put on a waiting list, Sorcermon then reiterated what he just mentioned. He (and Wizardmon) was in the dark just as much as Lucy and her companions. The Trinity worked in very strange ways. "Again we know nothing. You'll need to find out for yourselves. I'll escort you all. Follow me please.''
The white caped wizard Digimon gestured the group and follow after him to the oh so very familiar elevator. The doors opened as the group stepped inside. Yet again Lucy helped Mariko over the bump just before the elevator. Then Nana holding her partner gulped in silence. She had no idea what the Trinity would be like. In her chair Mariko had similar thoughts... in fact she was very nervous over this whole mess.
-shortly
Shortly the doors opened on the top floor as the the group stepped out of the elevator but as expected Lucy saw Sorcermon not proceed along with them. She knew the reason. The eldest girl saw the high arch ceiling hadn't changed nor had the polish of the golden doors. "Ok Sorsermon I'll take it from here.'' Lucy said as the white clothed Digimon stayed in the elevator as the doors shut.
Turning on her heels the oldest Diclonius stepped towards the gold doors. Swallowing a bit because of hesitation and partly because of the uncertainty. So she simply knocked on the door awaiting her answer or signal to let her in.
Turning to face her younger Diclonii compatriots she laid out a few rules. ''The Holy Trinity are three very powerful Angel types. All are at the Mega level, so Mariko no tricks I'm warning you. You'll all show them respect understand me?" The two then nodded as the gold doors opened. Bright light blinded them all.
Then the voice went through the earshot of the group. To Nana and Mariko it had a warm womanly soothing type of tone. A voice that made you feel safe and at ease. ''Come in fair children... Don't at all be afraid... "
The group with Lucy leading they walked into the room as the brightness faded down, in the background soft classical music was heard as the pair of young ones laid their eyes on the trio of the biggest digital monsters they'd ever seen. The first one Mariko saw was the one clad in silvery knight armor accentuated by navy. He had on his back feathered gold wings in five pairs. "Please take a seat my good uh... Mariko was it? I am Lord Seraphimon and I am the Trinity's leader.'' Seraphimon said gesturing for the girl wheel herself to a very finely made table.
It looked like it was made of some unknown wood the handicapped girl wasn't familiar with. Seeing nothing wrong she went over to the said table. ''My dear you have been acting very poorly since my dear Lucy took care of you. You have great power... but its unfocused and sloppily utilized.''
Hearing this great metal covered angel badmouth her great number of vectors hit a sore spot for the Kurama daughter. Like any person she hated it when she was given put-downs.
Her face changed to an angry mood however Seraphimon caught onto her intentions. He stood up and blocked her assault using seven small golden orbs. "Uh-uh-uh no none of that. Brutish violence will get you nowhere. How do you hope to kill me hmm? I possess far more power than you can possibly imagine. While you're in Lucy's care you'll abide by her rules. Understand me young lady... otherwise I give Lucille full authority to punish you in any way she sees fit. Including a spank. Do you understand?''
Again memories of the harsh painful beating of her bottom received from the elder girl were still fresh in Mariko's mind. She hated her spanking. It hurt. She even admitted she didn't like getting hurt herself. She heard Salamon say if she didn't like it then she shouldn't do it to other people then. "Yes sir... Yes Lord Seraphimon... " She uttered turning her gaze at the floor.
"Much better my dear... " Lord Seraphimon said pleased to hear such words from her.
Meanwhile seated at a table made of finely polished pewter with a well carved portion of pink marble stone was Nana with the great Lady Ophanimon. The two exchanged information. She learned of the troubles Salamon had in finding a partner. But the fact her destined companion was another Diclonius threw the high angel for a loop. This was something that never could've been predicted. Not even by the ancient Babamon or her husband Jijimon.
Even more surprising was the fact Salamon's Champion form was a Gatomon. The cat-like Digimon were said to be a Holy species. They were rare but destined to become extremely powerful upon reaching Mega status. ''It's very surprising finding out Salamon's new Digivolution form. A Gatomon wasn't what I expected at all. My dear you will be destined for great power in the future, when the time comes of course."
After having a sip of some green tea to Nana given to her by Salamon the younger Diclonius was unsure of this newly made path for her life. She had extreme doubt about her place in said life. ''I don't know if I even belong anywhere.'' She uttered half depressed.
"Not with that attitude you won't. Ya negative Nelly.'' Salamon piped up.
The luscious light blonde locks of Ophanimon blew around from a sudden unexplained bit of wind. She knelt down as Nana's gaze went at her new sneakers. The blonde angel lifted the young one's chin up so as Nana could look into her metallic helmet. ''My dear Nana never decide yourself as having no place in the world. Everyone and everything does... sometimes even if those around them or they themselves can't see it. That is my advice my child." The Mega's kindly encouraging words lifted Nana's spirits. Everything and everything has a place somewhere... to belong.
Meanwhile Lord Cherubimon was having his necessary few words heard by Lucy. She was having doubts too. Her problem was confidence in her mission and caring for Mariko and Nana like a mother hen. "Lord Cherubimon I just don't think I can do this... My mission I mean and caring for those two. I just don't know if... '' She tried to say.
It was then Lord Cherubimon cut her off right there. He hated people who were lacking in self-esteem or even courage. But those who lacked ''guts'' as he called it were the worst of lot. "Well you know what I think, I think you're a big girl. You can take care of them. Deep down you have all the muscle you need to get things done. Fortune favors the bold. Be bold... maybe then you get the goods.''
If there was one main difference in Cherubimon's mannerisms compared to his two companions it was his ''common man'' or his ''blue collar'' type attitude. Lord Seraphimon and Lady Ophanimon had a dignified priest or nun styled mentality (some might even say he was like the Pope). It was clear in their speech patterns and behavior. It was almost Saintly. "Alright I'll see what I can do Lord Cherubimon.'' Lucy admitted stretching her back a little. "I miss this hall. Its like a holy church."
"All the better to be with the great G-O-D.'' The beast angel added.
''Really?" Patamon said in awe. That and partly it was shock too. But to Lucy this was a big deal. It might be the thing she needed to help the two young Diclonii in her care.
This large spiritual revelation struck a chord with the so-called Queen Diclonius. She was more of a mother of her kind rather than a ruler frankly. She'd been caring for Nana and Mariko like a traditional mother would care for young children. She dug deep into her maternal instincts to guide her through the process. She also went and got them material goods like blankets, storybooks, preschool edutainment programs, etc. But maternal and material comfort could only go so far she thought. Maybe a little spiritual guidance was in order.
It was then her Digivice went off. The beeping meant a distress call as in trouble. "Huh? Great trouble. C'mon everybody its time to kick hind end! Digiport open!'' Salamon hooted out tapping in the command on Nana's Digivice opening up the Digiport.
Seeing Salamon run through the portal Nana naturally had to follow along with the rest of everybody.
-meanwhile - that afternoon
Meanwhile at that exact moment back in the real world everybody had finished their household chores and decided to head to the city park to enjoy the pleasant weather. Taking the nearby newspaper into his hands Alex looked over the current articles. He let out a sigh. "The news article here mentions the rebuilding for our schools is going great. Maybe soon we'll wave bye-bye to doing our courses at home... I'll miss getting an apple from the fridge when I'm figuring out algebra.''
''Yeah doing schoolwork at home has its perks.'' Mayu added sipping some of her glass of tea she'd made for everyone.
Truth be told doing the chores was harder than the group thought they'd be... especially after classes and cleaning the schools. This was something that drove Alex crazy. More or so in his words it was hard enough doing the book learning but they got stuck with cleaning it too? Not to rag on foreign cultures but really did the Japanese not have enough money to fund janitors or something? Plus while Lucy was away that morning they'd fended for themselves in terms of breakfasts. That and lunches. Even though Alex, JP, and Jason were American none of their attempts at scratch made US food turned out as great as their pink haired lass. Even Mayu whose kitchen talent was good but nowhere near close to Lucy's level thought maybe she should meet this Swanmon Lucy talked so fondly of. She might have lots of good advice.
''Speaking of perks... '' A voice said from up top of a bread bakery. Electrical energy surged all over its deep blue spheroid body.
Taking a look Kanae recognized him. It was Thundermon! He's back! "Thundermon! What're you doing here!?"
''Simple. Havoc!'' Thundermon spat out.
It was then Lucy and her companions appeared from their digital portal. Naturally the likes the Mutant type had to rant and rave about it. "Oh that's not fighting fair! You Digi-brats!''
Remembering how sinister this little ball of energy was last time Mariko went about hurling a few things at him... things as in a parking meter and a stop sign. Both were heading for him but the evil Digimon was far from unprepared. "Thunderball. Thunderball.'' He uttered as he fired an electric ball that's potentially as powerful as ten million volts.
Both of his Thunderball attacks hit Mariko's makeshift projectile weapons disintegrating upon their electric impact. A huge thunderous blast tore through the air. "Heh! Brute force gets ya nothing! That and why I'm here.''
''Well let's see what the Digivice says then. Digivice Scan mode." Nana said calling out the needed command phrase.
''Thundermon: A Digimon who constantly discharges electricity from its body. Although its body is tiny it attacks with a powerful ten million volt thunderbolt. Its Special Move is Thunderball.'' The device explained as it scanned the powerful electrical discharges coming from the said Digimon.
Hovering in the via his ear wings Patamon pointed out something important to Thundermon. ''You and what army?"
''This one.'' Thundermon said snapping his fingers as a large Digiport opened up above him.
Emerging from the port 2 feet above Thundermon were tons of evil black hued creatures appeared and were the army Patamon made his wisecrack about. They resembled demonic looking goblins with 4 shrimpy wings. Their hands were a tan hue while a jagged orange mane of hair ran down their back.
Her eyebrow twitching in a foul mood, Lucy hissed to him. ''Ya just had to say it didn't you?'' This cued Patamon slight grin and a low giggle.
''Great what're those? Digivice Scan mode." Jason said. "They make the Wicked Witch of the West's flying monkeys look tame!''
The device then explained just what exactly these sinister beastly creatures were. ''Name Vilemon: Level Champion. Virus Attribute. A Evil Digimon that despises losing. For that reason it is a coward that torments the weak with pricks, without getting into actual combat. They're credited as being the source of the Dark-species of Digimon that inhabit the Server of Darkness, but still many mysteries surround them. Its Special Move is subjecting you to a nightmare that you can't wake up from using supersonic wave blasted from its mouth. Its called the Nightmare Shock."
"As the Queen Diclonius its your fate to destroy the world! Its yer destiny! You can't fight what you were born to do!" Thundermon said in his ego fueled tone of voice.
A quick gust of wind picked up that exact second blowing several locks of the so-called queen's cotton candy pink hued hair. Slowly but steadily getting back on her feet Lucy brushed the pink bangs of hair away from her eyes. She flexed her hand making a fist and glanced up at Thundermon. A stern look burned in her ruby hued eyes. "Never. I decide how to use my powers whether for good or for evil. I choose good. I make my own destiny. This is my story. My life! I'm not gonna let some data based thug tell me how my life ends up. Has it ever struck your brain that maybe instead of being the Diclonius that destroys humanity I'm the one destined to defend it? No you didn't because you're a slave to the Network. You can't even think for yourself!'' Lucy angrily griped and pointing at the Mutant typed Digimon.
This defiant attitude of this horned freak grated on Thundermon's nerves. This was the last straw. He was going to let these DigiDestined really have it. In spades! "Why you little... ! That's it! You're history! You're toast! Just you wait!'' Thundermon ranted and raved then gave the pink haired heroine a good dosage of the raspberries as a final insult.
Giving Thundermon a very evil looking slash unnerving death glare and gave a loud yell. "Jet Gallop! Thunder Fist!" The girl jumped with superhuman speed and used combat data from Beetlemon's signature move. Thunderfist to be exact.
''Thunderball!" Thundermon roared out in retaliation.
-begin True Survivor by David Hasselhoff
The two titanic electrical combat techniques upon impacting each other made the very air crackle with power then loud bursts of thunder boomed out after that. After their clash the horned lass leaped to a nearby flagpole perched atop it. Her scarlet eyes had a fire burning in them just like Thundermon. "Ok then... No more Miss nice Diclonius. Its so on! Execute! Champion Level Digivolve!" Lucy griped to her virus based foe. Everyone soon did the same as Lucy.
''Agumon Digivolve to... GEOGREYMON!" Agumon now Geogreymon called out.
''Patamon digivolve to... ANGEMON!" Patamon now the blue robed Angemon shouted.
"Palmon Digivolve to... SUNFLOWMON!'' Palmon now Sunflowmon called out third.
''Renamon Digivolve to... KYUBIMON!" Renamon now Kyubimon yelled.
''Tentomon digivolve to... KABUTERIMON!" Tentomon now Kabuterimon yelled next.
''Hawkmon digivolve to... AQUILAMON!" Hawkmon now Aquilamon called in sixth.
"Hagurumon digivolve to... GUARDROMON!'' The likes of Guardromon called out next.
''Salamon Digivolve to... GATOMON!" Salamon called out as Gatomon last but not least.
It seemed the eight Champion's were at a disadvantage as they were outnumbered by the 4O plus horde of Vilemon. It was very simple what needed to be done, beat, burn, crush, or just plain massacre every one of them until they were too wore out to fight any more.
The hordes of evil Network minions flew towards the 8 fighters who went into battle positions each taking on several at a time. Try as she might at wanting to help Angemon Lucy was ushered away by Bokomon and Neemon adding it was more important for the youths to get the civilians caught in the battle's crossfire away to safety. To minimize the potential casualties the scholar reasoned. Knowing he was right the pinkette helped her friends do a makeshift evacuation of the surrounding city blocks.
Flying around the likes of Aquilamon, Guardromon, and Angemon got surrounded by the numerous Vilemon troops Thundermon called for. The cast-iron likes of Guardromon unleashed his part of their three pronged offensive. "Guardian Barrage! Guardian Barrage!'' He called out as he shot flying missiles from his wrists twice no less!
Several of the Vilemon were wiped out by the barrage but plenty more were still alive and kicking, ready to rip and tear their 8 enemies apart. ''Nightmare Shocker!'' The group of the Vilemon screech out as they fired supersonic waves from their numerous mouths.
"Blast Rings!'' Aquilamon screeched as the attack countered the Nightmare Shocker.
Now it was time for the final strike in the trio's plan, Angemon let loose his Hand of Fate as the energy shot from the angel's fist and impacted with the target. But it wasn't the Vilemon. It was the ground they were standing on.
The blast tore up the pavement as the Vilemon just hovered into the air making their escape. ''Hah! Ya missed us ya washed up pretty boy!" One of the Vilemon cackled out.
But it was too early to celebrate as the Vilemon's victory wasn't coming as Aquilamon's horns, gathering powerful energy, glowed red and he went on the attack. The large red bird plowed through the herd of Vilemon with his powerful Grand Horn attack!
Partly stunned from Aquilamon's moves the Vilemon were open to attack. In fact one might say they were putty in the three Champion's hands. Then without missing a beat Guardromon sent out his final offensive strike.
"Warning Laser!'' The machine type yelled out shooting twin laser beams from his eyes.
The laser blasts sped through the evil Network minions cutting them into bits. They then exploded in a series of fiery spherical blasts. Meanwhile the others were still dealing with their fearsome vile opponents.
The group consisting of Sunflowmon, Geogreymon, and the Insectoid Kabuterimon had their own horde of Vilemon to exterminate out of the city. Speeding through the streets at high speeds Kabuterimon saw the teamwork strategies his allies were using. It was time to do the same. "Hey Vilemon! Eat my high-mega cannon! Electro Shocker!'' He then fired a huge sphere of electrical energy at his enemies. The Vilemon to be exact.
Naturally as he shot off his attack he looked like he aimed a bit too far down. So the attack never hit the Vilemon but threw up tons of dust covering the streets effectively creating a natural smokescreen. Using the dust Sunflowmon called out her move. ''Smiley Slap!" Sunflowmon then went about slapping the Vilemon silly knowing she'd be hidden.
The slaps sent several of them hurtling above the dust making prime targets for the next stage of the battle. ''Mega Flame!" Geogreymon roared out in rage as he spewed out high-temperature flame blasts that incinerate virtually anything in its path. A few of the Vilemon were burned to ashes but several more were still left.
"Cactus Tail! Cactus Tail!'' Swinging her tail/stalk, Sunflowmon fired off its thorns and kept up at it.
The rain of thorns slammed and stabbed into a few Vilemon's skin as the Champion level sunflower kept up her attack. The flurry of woody spikes killed several more but still more were left over. Flexing her leafy fingers Sunflowmon still wasn't through with the evil Network grunt soldiers. "Sunshine Beam!'' Sunflowmon called out using the bright sunlight to supercharge her said attack.
The blast of sunlight burst from all her yellow petals. Next Sunflowmon swung the ray across the Vilemon taking out more of them. Like before the Sunshine Beam acted like a sunlight powered laser turning the Vilemon to instant digital dust.
Flying after her Kabuterimon used his Beetle Horn Attack to headbutt the few remaining Vilemon stupidly close to his face. He smashed them sending from the air straight into the pavement.
After trying to move the Vilemon as their body began reverting back to computing code one made one last speech. ''Master Etemon. Network forgive us... our failure.'' And then the rest of the Vilemon's code vanished.
The likes of Gatomon and Kyubimon for instance, well they were outnumbered... but not outsmarted not by any long shot! Using her fast cat-like reflexes Gatomon weaved out of a left jab from the several Vilemon fighting her. She retaliated by punching one right square in the jaws. Hard no less! A split second after that the Vilemon's many broken teeth out its mouth. Like Chiclets.
The cat monster then side kicked another dead center in his gut knocking the wind out of him. The deep blue eyes of Gatomon burned with a fire of strength and showed she would not under any circumstances back down. She was backed up by Kyubimon who wasn't backing off either, this was it. It was time to show this fan-club who was boss around this town. ''Time we end this Gatomon, Dragon Wheel!" The nine tailed fox called out wrapping her body in dragon shaped flames rushing headlong at the enemy Vilemon.
Several were burnt to ashes though several more managed to get out of the fox's way. As expected they regrouped and surrounded both Gatomon and Kyubimon. However the shoddy battle tactics of the Vilemon army were making Thundermon beyond furious. His temper was beyond its boiling point. In fact it was in full meltdown mode. "Do you idiot Vilemon have wax in yer ears!? Execute them!" He ranted out in a huge rage.
"No master Thundermon! Fellow Vilemon attack! Demon Darts!" One of the Vilemon screeched out.
The Demon Darts was essentially a double scratching attack that hit dead center on Gatomon's green gloved paws. Though by blocking the scratch Gatomon left herself wide open for full on attack. "Oh no you don't boys... Time to turn you all into litter. Cat's Eye Hypnotism!'' Gatomon called out as she gazed at a few of hideous Vilemon.
With her tail free Gatomon swished it around like an extra hand. A nearby Vilemon went on the warpath. "Demon Darts!" It yelled as it scratched his enemy with both arms.
The ''enemy'' was in fact another Vilemon whose scratched up face sent it spinning around and hitting the ground. It slowly reverted back into data. It was official Gatomon had taken control of the Vilemon fighting her. Even worse two held a third down as fourth cracked its knuckles. "No... Yer lining it up... No yer not gonna... " The Vilemon groaned out as the attacker slammed his fist into the hapless one's groin. "0HHHH! Yah did it... " He groaned out again.
Now it was time to bring this battle to an end. "Fox Tail Inferno!" Kyubimon shouted out as nine blue fireballs launched from her tails.
A few of them slammed into the Vilemon attacking themselves reducing them to mere piles of ash in seconds. The rest surround a few more and explode in an fiery inferno of a blast.
This infuriated the few Vilemon left who were very much angry. "Demon Darts!'' One yelled out. The other way Demon Darts worked was it throws powerful darts made of energy. "Dragon Wheel!" Kyubimon called out using the same fiery attack bulldozing through the few remaining Vilemon.
His army utterly wiped out Thundermon figured it was time he made his escape. He zoomed atop a street lamp and gave the two female Digimon the raspberries as a parting gift. "I'm outta here! Losers!" Thundermon taunted as he jumped to a nearby windowsill.
However Angemon happened to see his attempt at escaping and flapped his pure white wings going after him. "You're not going anywhere!''
Turning around to see the pesky pretty boy angel on his tail Thundermon sped at the Vaccine with pure rage blazing in his eyes. "I will slaughter you!'' He roared out.
Flying closer until he knew the range was just right Angemon went for it. "Angel Staff!" Angemon called out as he gave his staff a good heave.
Speeding right for the angel based warrior Thundermon arrogantly and also stupidly never tried blocking thinking his defense was more than enough to save his skin. He was about to throw out a few Thunderball attacks when the staff hit him.
His white feathered wings outstretched Angemon zoomed through the air grabbing his staff. Attempting to retaliate, Thundermon finds too late he's been cleaved in two by Angemon's Angel Staff attack, and the evil minion of the Network's half's explodes in two massive explosions.
"Way to go Angemon!" Gatomon cheered out jumping and then climbing up the nearby street lamp.
"Now that right there is a shining example of a splitting headache." Kyubimon added dryly.
By then their respective partners managed to slink away from the crowds. Kohta had his Digivice ready. ''Well I guess you showed them whose boss eh Geogreymon? But now, time we all head home."
The college boy created the portal as Geogreymon returned to his form of Agumon. "See ya later at the Inn partner. C'mon guys!" Agumon said as he jumped into the portal.
After devolving back to their base Rookie forms the other Digimon leaped into the portal heading back to the safety of the Inn. It was then the group of youths did the same as the portal closed leaving no trace of them even being there. Unsurprisingly the lights and sounds of the emergency personnel heading to the scene only to find it deserted. Again like last time various monsters did battle in the streets with no info on where they came from or why they'd appeared.
However there were plenty of witnesses who described each monster in great detail. Some were seen before previously like the orange dinosaur, red eagle, iron-clad robot, sunflower, and the blue bug from the airport. New this time was a small white cat with green clawed gloves. It also stood on two feet. But still no information on where the beasts came from or what they wanted. There was also information on the beasts they doing battle with. One resembled a ball coursing with electrical power. There were several evil goblin looking creatures involved in the incident too.
The whole scenario to public eye was still a big mystery. Only a chosen few knew the secret of the Digimon and the Network.
-to be continued
Ok, ok, readers let's say I needed to update something this weekend or I'd go crazy. Not to mention my ever loyal readers want updates to their great stuff. So I figured I'd finally get off my duff and finish this chapter. Hopefully after posting this something will come to me ending my writer's block.
Plus its getting close to winter in my part of the world so I'll be inside a lot more. Hopefully I'll be able to get more story updates finished then.
And yes Mariko's problems behaving in public will be a big story element as Lucy continues to act as the main nurturing force for both the Kurama girls. Again as for Etemon its still a bit too early for our heroes to unlock their Ultimate level... but until then they'll keep wiping the floor with Etemon's warrior's who are Champion and lower. Also I hope the things Seraphimon talked with Mariko about would be something she'd take to heart.
And Kohta's father and aunt will be stopping by in a few chapters. Just how Kouta's family to Lucy, his American friends and the Digimon? Will he think they can be trusted? Will he trust that his children are doing the right thing by combating the Network? How will he react to Lucy's ''condition''? Not to mention Nana and Mariko? Plus the circumstances surrounding their previous living conditions?

PS: To all those who work under Saban Brands I make no money off this fanfiction story so its counterproductive to try suing me. I don't have any money to shell out. I write this only because I loved Digimon back in its heyday.
