Those Obnoxious Ghosts
Chapter 19: Invaders From Space...Again
Danny and his friends soon arrived to Fenton Works. They already informed Jazz about the recent development and filled her in on their plans for a possible countermeasures in case Lum returns.
Once they were done, the eldest Fenton child shook her head.
"That girl doesn't give up, does she?..."Jazz said, not looking forward to seeing her would-be sister in law again.
"Like a bad cold that won't leave no matter how much you want it to..."Danny muttered, making it clear that he doesn't want to see her again.
"So, what's the plan?..."Jazz asked.
"Ten said that she's got something that suppose to help her either "get back together with me" or fight me, so we need to prepare and be ready for her and a possible second invasion. I might even ask Mom and Dad to make some anti-alien tech...if they can actually make any that is..."Danny said.
Jazz thought about and nodded her head in agreement.
"That's probably a good idea. No telling what that alien princess is capable of after getting rejected like that..."She said, sounding wary.
"When do we do that?..."Sam asked.
"No time like the present..."Danny said, wanting to get it over with and to get on with his life.
The ghost boy and the others decided to do so, gambling on the chances that Mr. and might know a way to make anti-alien gadgets, hopefully before Lum comes back.
Downstairs
Danny and the others went to the lab and tried to prepare themselves for what they had to do.
"Remember the plan...we gotta make it look like we're just worried that Lum's people may not be the ONLY threat to earth, or that those oni's may not end up holding up to their side of the deal.. and not like we actually want them to decide to build a defense force in case another alien invasion does come around..."Danny whispered to his friends.
"Got it..."Sam said as they entered the lab and saw Danny's parents tinkering over some device.
"Hey, Mom...Dad..."Danny said.
"Hey kids, how was school?..."Jack asked.
"Good..."Danny said.
"You kids must've had a long day. There's snicker-doodles in the kitchen and don't worry, I made extra ones that are hidden away from your father..."Maddie said, while her husband pouted.
"Uh...maybe later Mom..."Jazz said, wanting to get on with what they had to do.
Danny sighed, knowing that he had to be tactful here and not give away too much information. Meaning that he may or not have to resort to playing the youngest child card on his parents in case he was desperate. He just needed to play his cards right and those gadgets will be theirs.
Hopefully.
"Here goes everything..."He thought as he began to use his poker face.
"Mom...Dad...can I ask you guys a question? A...hypothetical one?..."Danny asked, sounding convincingly curious to his parents.
"What is it, Sweetie?..."Maddie asked, pausing her work for a moment.
"Well, like I said...hypothetically...uh...say...what if Amity Park got invaded by aliens again or those Oni's were to someday come back...uh...would it be possible to make...I don't know...anti-alien tech against them...like how you guys do with ghosts, but for aliens instead. Again, this is just hypothetical but could you and Dad possibly have any way of making gadgets like that?..."Danny said, doing his best to look innocent and not suspicious at all.
His parents, however, became very serious as they look at their son. Jack even raised a hand in a "stopping" motion.
"Stop, I know what this is about..."Jack said, speaking in a serious tone of voice.
"Wait, you do?!..."Danny asked, worried that he blew his own cover.
"You've been on edge since that alien invasion and now you're trying to use reverse psychology on us, to make anti-alien gadgets and I think I know why..."Jack said.
Danny and the others went pale, worried that they somehow gave themselves away. However, what he heard next was not something any of them expected to hear.
"You've been having nightmares about that tag race and now you're having that teenage existential breakdowns and paranoia that Jazz always talks about, aren't you son?..."Jack asked in a surprisingly insightful way.
"Huh?..."Danny thought as he was taken aback with what his dad just said.
"Yeah, after all...you went through so much pressure just to save the world from those aliens and saving all of humanity from being put under tyrannical rule by those tiger-striped psychos from space, even if It was all settled in a game of tag that felt more like one of those fight to the death matches..."Jack said.
"And that awful alien hussy zapped you...it's a miracle you're still alive, but I know you were hurt a lot. And the reason you kept quiet until now is because you were traumatized from that experience and tried to keep it to yourself to not make us worry, but it's our job to worry as your parents, young man. You were just trying make sure that what happened to you doesn't happen to anyone else... Is that right?..."Maddie asked, wondering if that was the case here.
Seeing the perfect opportunity laid right in front of him, Danny decided you just go with the flow and nodded.
"Yes...that's it...it was so traumatizing and I've been having nightmares about being forced to deal with that horrible princess and more aliens again..."Danny said, trying to look as vulnerable as possible to his parents. "I've been LIVING a nightmare to thanks to that girl, anyway..."He mentally added and kept up his act.
His parents stopped their current project and Danny's mother even hugged him, trying to comfort him and unintentionally squeezing the life out of him.
"Oh, my poor baby boy! I know you went through a lot and even after all that was done, you didn't even receive a measly "thank you" from those people. Not even any get well gift basket. No wonder you've been so down lately..."Maddie said as she held him in her arms.
"I can't even look at lightning without being reminded about that tag race. I still remember my life flashing before my eyes every time I remember being shocked by that Lum girl..."Danny said, trying to sound hurt to gain more sympathy from his parents.
His friends and sister saw this and while Tucker, Jazz, and Sam simply rolled her eyes in disbelief at how much your best friend was throwing away his dignity with this act.
"This is so pathetic..."Sam muttered.
"Shut up, you think that something like that can't traumatize someone. My brother might act strong, but he's still a teenager through and through. And getting electrocuted is no joke..."Jazz whispered harshly to the goth girl, reminding her not to give away their true objective.
Her parents didn't hear this, as they were too busy trying to "console" Danny.
"It's okay, Son. Those awful aliens are gone and you're safe now..."Jack said, trying to comfort his son as best he can.
"But...what if they come back? Or...another alien race invades? What if were not prepared to fight them back next time?..."Danny asked, trying to look frightened to his parents.
His plan was to get them to start making anti-alien weapons, at least one that will hopefully be ready by the time Lum makes her next move. However, even he wasn't prepared for what his parents said next.
"Oh, you don't have to worry about that Danny...we already made plenty of anti-alien weapons in case those rotten oni's return..."Maddie said, surprising her children and their friends.
"Uh...what?..."Danny asked, surprised.
He didn't expect this, but his parents continued.
"After those aliens left, we decided it would be a smart idea to take some precautionary measures and create a bunch of alien hunting gadgets and weapons in case those alien scum ever come back for round two..."Jack said as he looked like he was about to show off his and his wife's new inventions to the kids.
"That's right, it's better to be safe rather than sorry..."Maddie said as she went to a table and showed a display of gadgets but unlike their typical ghost hunting equipment, there were stripes all over them.
"Uh...how long have you been making these?..."Danny asked, as he saw quite a couple of them already.
"Since after the tag race..."Jack answered, surprising the teens.
"Why do they have stripes?..."Tucker asked, eyeing the tech.
"To not mixed them up with our ghost hunting gear. Plus, they just look pretty stylish with these stripes..."Jack said, only to get looks from the teens.
"Beside, Earth has got to show those alien scum and any other aliens out there that we are ready to fight. And like you said, you never know when we'll get invaded again..."He said, with a lot of gusto like he usually does when he talks about ghosts.
"That's right, and if those barbaric beasts from space dare to show their faces around here again... then their all gonna get to see for themselves what earthlings are capable of!..."Maddie said, looking mad and ready to test her latest weapons on them.
Her daughter, however seemed a little apprehensive about her parents ready to cause harm to another species just because they're not human...even if they ARE hostile alien invaders.
"But...the oni's did promise that they would spare the earth and leave..."Jazz couldn't help but point out.
Her mother, however, scowled and the others seemed surprised by the sudden dark look on the woman's face.
"Those aliens almost KILLED my son and gave him no choice, but to play their ridiculous game of tag that for the fate of earth! I don't trust them any more than I trust ghosts! All this is for us to protect the earth and you kids from them. That's all there is too it!..."Maddie said in an overprotective manner.
She then grabbed a remote and pressed a random button, causing a badly drawn cutout of Mr. Invader and his daughter to appear.
She then turned to Danny, who was almost taken back by the intense look on her face.
"If I ever come across them again, especially that alien hussy they call a princess that zapped you, I'm gonna make her wish she never messed with the Fenton's!..."Maddie said as she then threw what appeared to be a dart to a cut-out that looks an awful lot like Lum.
The teenagers seemed shocked at how intense she was being, and some even backed away a bit.
"I guess if Lum ever does marry Danny, she and Mrs. F aren't gonna get along..."Tucker thought, but wisely kept quiet as the Fenton's demonstrated the gadgets.
"Since that alien princess didn't seem like she had much sportsmanship during the tag race, and she seems like such a brat given her attitude during the match, I figured that she'd be most likely to break the Space Oni's promise to not invade earth again..."Maddie said, "If she ever does, then we'll be ready for her..."She said, clearly having a grudge.
"How?..."Danny asked.
"We checked the jet back to try and see if we can fix it and noticed that the residual lightning from her attack is different from the lightning from thunderstorms...It's just as painful, but it has a different kind of fluctuation of energy, and even seemed to have bits of her DNA in it. It's actually kinda fascinating, to be honest..."Jack said, only to receive a glare from his wife.
He cleared his throat and continued.
"Anyway, after we studied the residual energy signatures from her lightning and the DNA that she left behind, it was simple to find a way to make counter measures and properly deconstruct it and analyze it for further study..."Jack said, showing his rare genius side, which was a rarity of itself.
"Sometimes I forget that Dad is a legit scientist..."Danny thought as his parents kept babbling on their gadgets and research, even if it was about aliens this time.
"With that, we managed to create some gadgets to block her kind of attacks and lock onto anything that has oni DNA. We even created a special lightning rod antenna that we're going to install in both the Fenton RV and the Specter speeder soon..."Maddie said, as she demonstrated the blueprints to the teens.
"For real?..."Danny asked, shocked at how much they managed to get in such a short amount of time.
"For real. Even better, we even managed to use recycle and remodel old equipment from our ghost weapons, so it was faster and easier to make these weapons. This baby here is the Fenton lightning absorption lasso, this way we can wrangle up any aliens that dares to show up on Earth. We even managed to make a proto-type for an alien version for the Fenton thermos and the ghost gauntlets too. In case we ever run face to face with those space scum and they try and cause trouble again. This time, we're ready for them!..."Jack said, as he looked at his latest invention with pride.
Danny blinked at how eerily accurate this was to what he needed and felt both relieved and surprised at this development from his parents.
"Sometimes...Mom and Dad scare me with how unpredictably prepared they can be..."He thought as his parents showed them other blueprints for some future anti-alien gadgets.
Some of which left the ghost boy and the rest of his team very surprised and hopeful at how these gadgets can function against Lum and her people.
"I know that the aliens aren't here now, but we can't let our guards down just because they said they won't cause trouble for us for now. We have no idea how long we can expect them to keep that promise. If at all, but we're ready for them..."Jack said, before turning to his only son.
"But if it will give you some peace of mind son, you can keep these with you...but don't go confusing them for ghost weapons since we don't know how effective they'll be on them..."He offered, thinking that this will ease his son's mind from any trauma.
Danny smiled, feeling that this has gone better than he could have hoped for.
"Thanks Dad, this should help...ease my mind quite a bit..."Danny said, as he smirked internally, now feeling a lot more prepared for whatever Lum might have in store for him.
The ghost boy then gave his parents a grateful hug as thanks for their help, while his friends took some of the Anti-Oni weapons.
They don't know when Lum will strike again, but they were ready for her now.
The next Day
Danny had left school after an unpleasant day of pop-quizzes and Dash stuffing him into lockers.
However, his mind wasn't on that. He was keeping his guard up in case Lum appeared and caused any trouble...again.
"All this waiting is both nerve-racking and a little boring, too bad I don't have an alien sense..."He thought, but he was confident that he was ready for her, thanks to his folks.
Not having anything else to do, he decided to go on an early patrol. He went to a nearby alley, morphed and soon took to the skies to see if he could run into any trouble making ghosts...or trouble making aliens.
Like a certain troublesome alien princess in a bikini who can't seem to take "No" for an answer.
"Now, where are you?..."Danny thought, looking around suspiciously...only for his ghost sense to go off.
"Who is it this time?..."He asked out loud, groaning.
He heard screaming and people running away. He saw what the cause of it was. It was a large, ghostly bird that was soaring around and terrifying people.
"Oh, well. At least it's not some overgrown, gluttonous tiger-cow or something..."Danny said as he went to deal with it.
In less than five minutes, he fought and defeated the ghostly bird like it was nothing.
"See ya, bird-brain. Stay down south for the year!..."Danny said as he sucked the creature inside the thermos.
Once done, he was about to leave, only to hear the sound of clapping.
"Impressive as always, I see that my impression of you being the strongest warrior that Earth has to offer still accurate..."Was heard.
Danny recognized the voice and groaned.
"Don't tell me..."He muttered as he turned around and saw who caused him agonizingly painful headaches every time he thought of her.
"Hello, Darling..."The person said, sounding smug.
Danny frowned and turned around, seeing the alien princess appear, smirking at him.
"Lum!..."Danny said in a scorning way as he glared at her.

Next Time on Those Obnoxious Ghosts
Danny vs Lum
A/N: Special thanks NeoMark, twilightnite13 and Jay The Average Fanboy for assisting with this chapter.
REPLIES to my loyal and totally awesome reviewer:
Jebest4781: Thank you :)
Pokemon fan 1991: We'll see what happens soon.
RonaldM40196867:
1) Yes, it is sad.
2) We will find that out soon enough.
3) Maybe, maybe not, Sorry, no spoilers.
4) I see both Mendo and Ataru as flawed, but I see Mendo as a worse person since he sunk lower than Ataru at times.
5) Pretty much.
6) Sorry, no spoilers.
7) They both have their own issues and baggage.
8) You do have a point, but Ataru doesn't help his situation given his questionable behavior.
9) Pretty much.
10) Yeah.
11) I think you're right about the real reason Mendo wants Lum. That and because he THINKS an alien princess is the only one "worthy of him".
12) It is interesting.
13) Good point.
14) Sorry, no spoilers. We will see what happens.
15) I'll think about it. Thanks for the suggestion.
16) Sorry, no spoilers. We will see what happens.
Eecobeo: How's this so far?
Tbfiremon771: I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.
Simm36: Gracias.
Guest: I see.
Yahir Alexander Farfan Cuellar: Lum is definitely stubborn.
Aurelian: I understand that it seems that Danny is being harsh, but Lum's attitude was never acceptable. In Urusei Yatsura, I think she got away with it because everyone else around her was as wacky as she is. Danny, however, is strong enough to stand up against her and doesn't want to tolerate her less than acceptable antics.
Spider6as: Veremos qué pasará.
IrishKatana: Looks like it.
LockAndKey989: Actually, the only thing I changed was people's attitude towards her behavior. In UY, Lum got away with everything because she was a princess and all the guys were in love with her, while everyone blamed her antics on Atatu. Here, Danny and the others react to her actions like how a rational person would and they don't want to tolerate her actions since they can be extreme.
DB-20: Thank you :)
Arios9312: Veremos qué pasará.
Khy Dragon: Vlad really is scum.
SoundVenom: We'll see.
HotelKatz: Thank you for the suggestions. I will think about it.
:) I hope you enjoyed this! Remember to read and review :)
