Chapter 9

(Feb 8, 2006, 6:09 pm)

At the Possible house, Kim was sitting on the couch in the den. She made a loud groaning noise of frustration.

James then entered the room.

"Hey, Kimmie-cub." he said before noticing his daughter's expression.

"Why the long face?"

"Ugh...the drama, Dad!" Kim complained.

"Are we talking about boy drama, saving-the-world drama or school drama?" James asked.

"The latter." Kim said, "Instead of being the director of the play, I've been bumped down to assistant director."

James laughed, "It's not that bad, Kimberly. When I was your age, me, Ramesh and Chen did a stage play of HG Wells' War of the Worlds . I contributed by designing the Martian machines and the heat rays as well. Made them as tall as six-story buildings. Worked too well, though! Ended up burning down several hundred trees, nearly caused a city-wide panic,...and the Martain machines catching on fire."

"Uhh...Dad?" Kim questioned.

James turned his attention back to his daughter.

"Oh, sorry, Kimberly. Which play are you going to be the assistant director for?" he asked.

"Romeo and Juliet. It's a Shakespeare play thing." Kim replied.

James gave a light laugh and replied, "Kimmie-cub, I'm a rocket scientist. Shakespeare isn't exactly in my field of expertise."

"I see that, Dad." came Kim's reply.

"Anyways, I was wondering if you're going to come with us to Bueno Nacho." James suggested while twirling his keys. "Ronald suggested the idea!"

"I would say a resounding yes!" Kim said with a grin.

(6:34pm)

The Possible minivan arrived with the family at Bueno Nacho's parking lot. Ron's scooter was there in the lot as well.

When he saw the minivan pull in, Ron and Rufus waved to Kim and the rest of the Possible family. Kim, James and Ann also waved back to them.

Once the van was parked, the Possible family went inside.

"So do you want your usual, Kimberly?" James asked.

"Taco salad with Casesar on the side, of course, Dad!" Kim replied. "I'm gonna meet up with Ron!"

"All right, Kimmie-cub!" James replied as Kim went to Ron at their usual booth.

"Heya, KP!" Ron exclaimed.

"Hey, Ron!" Kim smiled, "I guess you were the one who suggested BN to my dad?"

"You know I did by text!" Ron grinned, "The Ron-man's getting used to the new tech."

"Text messaging is so not new, Ron!" Kim giggled. "I've been doing it for a few years now."

"Gotcha, Kim!" Ron acknowledged.

"You're getting your usual Naco Night order?" Kim asked.

"Of course! Me and Rufus are going to do our weekly nacho cheese downing contest!" Ron boasted, "Rufus won the last three times but this time, I'm gonna dominate!"

Kim nervously laughed, "Can you wait until the fam leaves? I would really appreciate it!"

"Sure can do!" Ron replied with a smile.

James ordered a small Naco while Ann, like Kim, had a taco salad but with Thousand Island dressing. Jim and Tim got Lil' Nino meals with both having small chimmeritos. They got to the usual booth where Ron was sitting. James also got a nearby small table to give his family some room.

The Tweebs, being the Tweebs, were gathering packets of Diablo sauce.

"Jim, Tim. I hope you're not going to do something with all those packets!" Kim muttered, her eyebrow rising suspicion on her brothers.

"We aren't!" Jim said, "We're planning an experiment on the..."

"...components of what makes Diablo sauce spicy..." Tim added.

"...when we get back to the house." Jim finished.

"Okay, but you'd better not cause a mess of things!" Kim added, "Not like the Thanksgiving Hot Sauce incident from two years ago at Nana's!"

"So what's going to be on the agendas, DrsP squared?" Ron asked both of the Possible parents.

"Ah yes, we're getting to that part, Ronald!" James said with a smile, sipping on his soda.

"Next weekend, we're gonna be going to a family reunion in Nebraska!" Ann replied.

"Just the two of you, or the whole Possilbe fam?" Ron asked.

"Everyone, according to my calculations!" James insisted.

Kim took a look at her father and took one long gulp of her salad. The Tweebs also swallowed their chimmeritos hard.

"So which side of the family are we visiting in the Cornhusker state?" Ron then questioned.

Ann raised her hand.

"The Nomallys are going to celebrate their 45th anniversary together. so Mom and Dad decided it would be a perfect time to hold a reunion centering on the renewing of their vows!"

"I'm trying to recall the last time we even visited someone from your side of the family." James said.

Ann replied, "We visited Pam in Wyoming over the summer."

"Oh yes, that was where the boys..." James began before his daughter intervened.

"Dad! Not in public and certainly not at Bueno Nacho!" Kim exclaimed. She did not want her parents to reveal any embarrassing secrets, especially if Bonnie or one of her cohorts were around. Though she would doubt Bonnie and her girls would even be seen at a Bueno Nacho.

"I understand your concern, Kimberly." James said, "But we must support our family."

Kim gulped even harder. She has had prior experiences when dealing with her cousins on her mom's side of the family.

"
