Next up is Abby! She doesn't have Anna since I don't picture her having a lot of screen time. I took away Abby's allergies which didn't add anything. Also I made Abby a little more fashion conscious absorbing some of Anna's traits - I'd love it if Abby wore a version of Cher's iconic outfit from Clueless and this Elizabeth goes "nice outfit". That would be ironic. She's ace and friendly with Sam and Charlie.
I'm filling a request for CNJ after this little saga, but I thought would anyone be interested in me introducing Karen's friends from the little sister as part of this too?
If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself, thought Kristy Thomas. Since Stacey's parents were divorcing and they were in New York right now, the BSC was short one member. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but ever since they advertised at the parade business was booming. Forget just replacing Stacey, they needed a couple of new members.
Now she looked at the house of one of her neighbors.
The Stevenson family.
They were pretty nice actually, still new the neighborhood themselves when Jonathon Stevenson died five months ago. Abby was friendly with Sam and Charlie when they invited her over to a pool party when they moved in. Kristy herself, slowly warming up to her and she guessed that they would call each other friends.
Anyway being blunt was in her nature and it was forward. It never hurt to ask people a question. This was for the BSC and part of her business.
It was just that she felt like she was replacing Stacey. One of her friends, they might not have been the best friends, but they were friends. Maybe Abby would be a good replacement. Sucking in her breath, Kristy rang the doorbell and stepped back.
A girl with thick long corkscrew curls and bright brown eyes stood in the doorway. In a way she looked like Stacey but not. Like she had on a high waisted denim mini skirt with a long sleeve crew neck sweater in gray, green, blue, orange, yellow, and black tucked in. She was wearing leggings underneath and socks. Fashion conscious but more retro then chic like Stacey.
"Hi Abby," said Kristy as she let her in.
"What's up," she said nodding her curls bouncing with her as they walked to the kitchen. "Drumstick?"
"The caramel kind please, I'll meet you in the living room," she said parking herself in front of the TV.
After getting comfortable and the Parent Trap playing on the TV as they ate their ice cream did Kristy turn to her. She was going to make herself more unsure if she didn't ask her right now.
"So, I have a proposition for you."
"I'm listening," said Abby all ears.
"You know the BSC right? My friends and I babysit around town and I advertised us during the baby parade."
"Oh so you want to invite me to be a member?" said Abby guessing her plan as she nodded. "I'm down I can totally use more sitting jobs and I love playing soccer with the kids or just any kind of outside outdoor game."
"Are you sure you don't want to think about it first?" she asked although not surprised at the girls brazen attitude.
"Nope, you know I'm rather new too. I'm still getting to know people, and this would be a great way."
"Awesome," said Kristy enthused. Great she had recruited Abby and it wasn't painful or anything. It'll be different at the BSC meetings with Stacey gone but it'll be fun at the same time. At least she kept telling herself that.
"So where do we meet?"
"Well, my brother Charlie drives me to the meeting. I figured he'd just drive us both."
"Cool, he and Sam are great. I just thought it'd be fun to run there."
"Alright, I'll get him to drive us on Monday. Um, so until then would you want to come over after the movie? We'd have the pool to ourselves unless Karen has Hannie and Nancy over."
"Definitely."
Well now she was definitely looking forward to Monday's meeting.
