I've been having a hard time writing in general lately so I hope this is still enjoyable! To the anon, your old review was taken down because it didn't reflect the reposted chapter. Your current ones are still there and will stay. As for this chapter, the BSC is really timeless so for this fic I tried to channel what it would be like to be an eleven year old girl in 1997. Plus Shannon included plus some sister bonding, this is gonna be fun.

Fulfilling the request for LiveFoREVer93 who wanted to see some Backstreet Boys mentioned.

Shannon Kilbourne turned up her radio as she browsed along looking for her favorite radio station. Her homework neatly stacked and finished ready to be checked by her mom (not that she got many questions wrong mind you).

A new copy of her favorite magazines sat next to her afternoon snack (a slice of cake). J-14, Cosmo Girl, and Tiger Beat all screamed the title of the hottest boy band on the scene, the Backstreet Boys. The singers (AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell) were to release a new song that very day called Quit Playing Games with my Heart.

Sighing, she turned WSTO up, grabbed said magazines, and collapsed in her royal purple inflatable chair with the cake next to her. This was the perfect afternoon as she took her butterfly clips out of her hair. The summer of 1997 was going to be great. She has just turned 11 and her dad was on a business trip so it was a girls week! Maybe she could even convince her mom to order a pizza every night.

"And in just after the Spice Girls we'll be airing the new Backstreet Boys song. It was a hit in Europe last summer and now it's here in America just in time for their debut US album will be out August 12 folks. Parents, your pre-teen and teen girls will squeal over these boys."

The announcer chuckled as Wannabe started. Casually Shannon flipped to read about her current celebrity crush (her first was Barney at four believe it or not) Nick Carter. There was a full spread article about him and a pull out poster. She hummed along learning that he was only six years older than her, his favorite color, and what it was like in Europe. Who knows maybe she'll get there one day…

"Shannon, will you play with us?" asked nine year old Tiffany holding Jumanji in her hands. Her youngest sister, six year old Maria, waved purple fingers (presumably from a popsicle) at her.

"In about ten minutes okay? I want to hear this new song. If you want you can sit on my bed and listen too but after you wash your hands Maria."

Maria shot her a sour look at the idea of washing her hands but went to do it anyway. It wasn't everyday that Shannon invited them to sit with her while she was doing something important. Tiffany perched herself on top of her furby comforter bouncing along to the song. Maria made herself comfortable as the song started.

It was a beautiful song too as she sighed, eating her cake swaying to the beat. Tiffany and Maria bounced on her bed getting into the slow beat.

"That was fun," said Tiffany after a minute. "Can we play Jumanji now?"

"Sure Tiff," she said turning off her radio and heading down to the living room to play.
