I'm working on a lot of fics and they're getting muddled. Also I've been writing a lot of Kristy fics lol. I'm just posting something that I had the most ideas developed for. When I was looking through the wiki I saw this and was like, I had to write this at some point. Apparently Patrick leaving and having another family was canon at some point (it was mentioned in book 86). I combined the Netflix series wife's name and having a son. The dramatic ending and cliff hanger was intentional!

Enjoy!

Kristy glanced around one last time as she checked herself in the mirror. A casual flowing dress, her hair tied up in a French braid (which was better then a ponytail in a lot of ways), and her favorite flats. She took a deep breath and headed toward the door.

"Ready to go?" asked her boyfriend, Lucas, as he held the door open for her.

"Why wouldn't I be? It's date night and I'm going to cream you at 90s trivia."

"I will cream you at 80s trivia," he boasted in return. "Right after Chez Maurice of course."

Right, that reminded her why she was wearing a dress, since Chez Maurice was a restaurant was rather formal. Her normal clothes, a tank top and shorts, in the cork backpack (which she got on their trip to Portugal) on her shoulder.

"Of course, we gotta practice our French before leaving the country," she said thankful that Shannon passed her notes from high school. She couldn't believe that she still had them. "I'm still going to beat you though."

Their trip this year as a boyfriend and girlfriend was of course France. Since they were leaving in a little under a month, they were going to try this whole cultural immersion. She hadn't been back since her eighth-grade class trip and this time she was seeing more than just Paris. They had gone on quite a few trips together since they started dating four years ago.

They started out and down the door of her small apartment not too far from the Stoneybrook Community Center. She and Lucas were talking about moving in together and getting a house sometime after their vacation.

Bounding down the steps she reached for the door.

On the other side of the door was a boy about Andrew's age poised to knock. He looked vaguely familiar but couldn't quite place it.

"Hi," said Kristy as Lucas waved. "Can we help you?"

"I'm looking for Kristy Thomas?" said the boy looking nervous.

A girl, maybe his sister, smiled at them. She studied them both noting they looked nice enough and not someone from the government, she thought jokingly. Both of them were just in t-shirts and jeans.

"That's me," said Kristy sharing a look with Lucas who just shrugged. "Can I help you with something?"

She hoped that Lucas wasn't in a hurry because the boy seemed to freeze in the door.

"Well, you see, um," he stumbled as the girl stepped in.

"Is your father Patrick Thomas by any chance?" she asked showing her a picture of Patrick in her right hand.

"That's him," she said taking the picture from her hand.

Her dad looked good at the time. It had to be when she was about ten or so. She held the picture in her hand and then looked at them wondering what was going on… Oh. Oh. OH. She could see it now as Kristy felt a chill run down her spine. Her mind went blank noticing the resemblance and then the years of letters (admittedly few) came back to her.

"Whoa," said Lucas as Kristy could only stare rather than nudge Lucas.

She blinked remembering hearing that her father had another wife before he married Zoey. Jocelyn she thinks was her name? There was a vague remembrance of her learning he had another family. She figured it might have been stepchildren though, not going on to have more kids when he left four of them. Part of her was mad at her father and the other part intrigued by the boy in front of her.

"Yea," said the boy. "I'm um, my name is Eddie and I was going to try looking for my dad's family. I'm taking a gap year to, um, meet them. I think you're my half-sister."

Kristy could only stare as she shared a look with Lucas. This was not how she expected date night to go.
