So I'm reading the California Diaries for the first (boy are they super different to the main series!) and I thought of this randomly reading one of the Sunny books. I might expand on this later or do a flashforward of what comes later. I'm not sure how far to take this so where I stopped it seemed fine for now. These books make me want to write some of the BSC fics in high school, but I don't think that they'll be going through what the others are in the California Diaries books.

Sunny Winslow looked down at the test in her hand and stonily stared at it. It was a test that she didn't fail; in fact it probably would have been an A+. If it wasn't a pregnancy test that is.

A chill ran down her spine and heart thumped against her chest as the door to the ladies room opened. Maybe she shouldn't have done this in the middle of her third period math class.

She was going to have to skip the rest of the day. She was going to have to skip the rest of the date. She was going to have to skip for the rest of the day. The idea of skipping just chanted across her mind as that was all she could think of at the moment. Her head spinning at what a possibly pregnancy could actually do to her.

Where would she go anyway? It wasn't like Sunny could leave town, not with her dad and her friends.

With her head in her hand she sighed before stuffing the stick in her purse. There was no way she was throwing it away at school and having everyone else find out. They'd learn that later when she actually started showing. She thought of Jude Allison and what she was going to have to tell him about their baby. Honestly the thought of telling him terrified her. Not that he would hit or or anything, but he was a senior and going to be leaving for USC in the fall. Just like how Ducky was going to leave them for UCLA.

"Sunny are you in here?" asked Dawn as she peered underneath the stall and up at her.

"Dawn I could have been peeing," she said, trying to act dramatic.

As if there wasn't a life changing event happening to her. At least she didn't have Maggie and Amalia in tow looking for her all over the school. She was not going to revert back to running away just because she could.

"I know you weren't," she said flatly before growing concerned. Dawn stood up and stepped away from the stall finally deciding not to be creep, thought Sunny drily. "What exactly is going on? You've been acting weird all day. I'm not letting you skip all of your classes."

Sunny took a shaky breath and thought about lying her way through this. Then stopped herself. Last time she lied like that, she got herself in major trouble. She and Dawn nearly ended their friendship. She put her purse on the floor and pushed over to her from underneath the stall with her sneaker.

Puzzled, Dawn picked up her purse and opened it. Nothing super out of the ordinary until she saw the stick pushed off to the side. Then promptly dropped the purse and gasped. Sunny opened the stall door as she let her blond hair cover her face as she neutrally picked up her purse. Finally walking to the sinks as if nothing out of the ordinary just happened.

The water ran as Dawn looked from her purse to her friend's face. Her mouth slightly open with ohs escaping her painted pink lips.

"Dawn," said Sunny, glancing at her friend before turning on the faucet sink. "Spare me your lecture."

She went for the bathroom door as Dawn finally snapped back to the present. Her best friend was pregnant. Normally that'd be great news if they weren't sixteen. Dawn was just getting her drivers license. A baby is an even bigger shock.

"It's just - it's big news is all," said Dawn at a loss of words before as silence enveloped between them. "Are you?" She paused and took a breath. "Do you want to keep it?"

Now that was a loaded question because Sunny was going to avoid talking about it.

"I… I think I do," she said quietly accepting it. "Ever since mom." She paused, not wanting to think about that. Her mother being here would have changed everything. Her death would forever impact her and her decisions. "I have to."

She could feel the tears pooling under her eyes. "I want to."

Dawn's arms wrapped around her as she cried into her friend's t-shirt. She could feel Dawn's arms wrap around her calming her as she shook. Beyond the bathroom door the bell rang but neither girl brought themselves to move.

"I'll be here," said Dawn hugging her tightly. "I'll always be here to help you," said Dawn, wiping her own eyes as they parted. When did she start crying? "I think it's ok to skip now. We could get lunch and maybe talk to Carol. I know you like talking to her more than your dad about girl stuff."

Not that pregnancy was girl stuff, but Dawn's half sister was a surprise to everyone. She went through it and could answer her questions. Sunny knew what she meant though. Ducky could drive them and they could grab Amalia and Maggie. Tell them, figure out the best plan to tell Mr. Winslow. She had friends to help her through it.

Everything would be fine.

At least they hoped.
