AN: Trigger warning this is not a light chapter by any means especially if you've been a survivor or know of a survivor of domestic violence in your life. Just warning ya'll now. Things aren't exactly as they seem or maybe they are. I'm sure a certain ship will not be happy at the end of this one though. However, I have my reasons like always.

Chapter 31: Monster

Bern, Switzerland

Remus was different.

Obviously, he was older. A decade older.

He was still lean but had grown into his tall frame. He also had a hideous mustache that a part of her wanted to tell him to shave off, but that part of their relationship was gone because of her brother.

He had no idea who she was and what they were. And now he found out they had a daughter together.

"I have a…what?" He said looking at her.

"Hermione is yours,"

She pulled out a photo of her daughter that was taken right before she went to that horrible school. It was the last time she had seen her daughter look happy. She actually looked a lot more like Remus that she had originally thought.

Remus stared at it and then looked at her. "I…"

She sighed, "I know you have no idea. I never got to tell you before Petey…well…"

"I'm going to kill him," Remus said looking extremely feral if only for a second. It was likely the wolf in him, Emma thought. She never knew how she didn't put two and two together during all those years that he had suffered from lycanthropy.

"Join the club," She rolled her eyes.

"I…." He said, "Can I meet her?"

Emma smiled sadly, "Of course, it's just…"

"It's just what?"

"She might not be herself when you meet her. That's something else we need to discuss."

He gave her a strange look.

"How much have you read about last fall?" She asked.

Remus inwardly grimaced. Clearly, he had read enough. "Is she…"

"She's still in the hospital," Emma said. "She…well, I'll put it bluntly. She's having side effects because of a gene that she inherited from you."

Remus looked at her and knew she knew.

"Is she…"

"It's latent," She said. "Or was until the transfiguration then it mutated."

He gave her a weird look.

"In layman's terms," Emma said. "She only becomes human when it's a full moon."

"Merlin," Remus said. "Is there…."

Emma sighed, "They've been trying a modified version of wolfsbane, but it hasn't been working that well and she has a being status hearing coming up…"

Remus turned pale knowing exactly what the status hearing was. "Dear lord, why?"

"Magical Britian is a backwards bunch," she said. "Though honestly, I don't think Haler Tonks or Healer Black has much hope for the potion. They want to try something else."

He looked at her. "They want her to become like me don't they?"

Narcissa sighed as she put on her new maternity robes. She was very satisfied with how they looked. They had finally arrived in the nick of time. The specialized concealing and charms worked, well, like a charm. She looked instantly twenty pounds or so lighter in them. Although, she probably was going to have to size up soon again with how tight of a fit they were already getting even with the expansion charms. She really was getting big and so fast this time too.

She still hadn't figured out what she was going to do. Especially after talking to Sirius's veela she knew her time was limited.

Luckily, she hadn't had too many changes in the past couple of weeks other than her body continuing to grow which she could live with all things considered. Although, she noticed that her complexion had continued to pale. Usually, she always joked that she was the only person in their household that could tan—not that she usually did, but she was just as pale if not paler than her husband and son now. The muggle dye was working still, though she was having to apply it more frequently.

She still didn't know exactly what she was going to tell Lucius or if she was even going to tell him. She wondered how much he knew about the full transformation. Even she hadn't heard about what exactly would happen until the woman had mentioned it to her.

That she would give birth in her other form.

Other form.

It still horrified her that she would transform into essentially a harpy. It was why most people in her situation didn't survive the change. Imagine giving birth as a completely different creature and not having your own mind. What could go wrong? Or the real question should be what could go right?

There was no telling when or where the transformation happened for most people it happened in the last trimester, but all sorts of factors influenced it. Stress being the main one. Things Narcissa was definitely feeling that as of late. It was recommended that she go to the coven so at least she could be cared for once it did occur. There was at least one of them who survived what she was currently experiencing though she didn't know if they had triplets.

Imagine becoming a harpy at the manor.

She still had time.

"You look lovely today," Lucius said eying her.

She hadn't realized he was home. She was just glad she already put on the robes and charms. He would definitely notice something was off by now, she could no longer pass her weight gain off as just getting a little chubby.

His eyes were focused on her breasts which looked indecent to her even with the charms spelt on them, he did not seem to mind though. She knew he usually had found her chest disappointing, though he never actually had said anything to her about it. When she had been pregnant with Draco it had been one of the things he loved most about her changing figure.

The plum robes looked good on her. Usually she avoided purples, but with the paler skin tone it worked quite nice and it worked well with her eyes. She grimaced thinking the grey was starting to look a little different. Was it possible her eye color was changing too?

Alas, even though she wanted to indulge with Lucius she knew shouldn't. It would be too risky. It was true she still had the charm applied where she didn't look visibly pregnant, but it was pretty obvious her body had changed. The weight gain hadn't exactly been just limited to her stomach. Her body had thickened all over. Her breasts, her thighs, her arms, her legs, ass, even her face was fuller.

"Unfortunately, I have to get to work." She said with frown. God, she wanted him. She hadn't felt this way since she was a teen. Was this one of the urges that Claire had talked about?

"It's always work these days, isn't it?" He said grabbing a piece of her hair. She hadn't realized how much it had grown in the past couple of months. It was almost as long as it had been before she cut it off last fall. Maybe even longer.

Probably part of the blasted change. She had had just gotten last week, but it seemed to have already grown back and then some.

"Did I mention the fact I love that you're growing it out again," He said. "I missed playing with it. It feels different though, have you been using a new straightening potion."

She nodded. Even though that was not the case. Her Black hair had all been tamed by his blasted family curse. Her now hair now was silky smooth. Something that used to be would have been a dream come true.

"Well, I like it," he said looking at her pulling her closer to him.

"Luc," She said. "I…"

"I missed you so much," He whispered as one of his hands reached the tie of her robe the other was firmly on her round ass.

She quickly lost her resolve. It really didn't take much given her current state of mind. She wanted him. And it didn't take him long to start pulling off the plum-colored robes she had put on only minutes before. The rational part of her wanted him to stop, but the beast within her wanted this. She was so hungry. She pulled at his robes much like he pulled on hers. Soon she found herself wrapped around him his hands all over her and hers all over him.

"You are fantastic," Her purred as he took off her purple colored bra and started playing with her breasts. They had really gotten big and they ached so much, especially when he touched them like that. "I forgot how wonderful you are. And I love these. Have they gotten larger because I definitely approve?"

"I've gotten fat," She said grimacing at the size of her thighs that she had swaddled around him.

He laughed, "You. Fat. Please. The weight looks good on you, sweetheart. You're glorious. Every single square inch of you."

She couldn't help but moan as he did things to her that were unmentionable and responded back.

However, Lucius suddenly froze and she instantly knew why since she had felt it. They kicked. Of course, they'd kick for the first time when they were making love.

He looked at her and murmured something under her breath and she felt the glamor charms drop. She immediately tried to hide her stomach, but it was too late.

He eyed her up in down. "You're….you're…"

"Pregnant." She said. "Yes, I am."

It was the moment she had dreaded and feared. She knew he was going to react poorly, but she was not ready for the extent of it.

He paled as he looked at her. She knew he figured it out before she said anything. She was still horrified when he hissed. "Get. Rid. Of. It."

She blanched she hadn't thought he'd have such a strong reaction. "No."

"Narcissa…it's not an option."

"It's my body. My life." She hissed as pulled on her panties and grabbed her bra, as she started feeling rage coming all over her.

She had expected him to be alarmed, but not like like this. It didn't seem like him or the him she thought she knew. But she kept seeing the look in his face, kept hearing the horrible words he said. A part of her wanted to kill him. She had to control herself. She could not let it take over her.

"I can't lose you." He said sounding like himself for a second before adding, "I can't have you become that creature."

Did he really hate veela that much? She knew he wasn't overly fond of them, but….well, to call her a creature? Yet, she had heard him rant about them all the time lately. Especially since his half-sister had gotten herself hurt. It was one of the reasons he avoided dealing with her, not because she was a bastard because what she was. What Narcissa would be.

"It's too late," she said her eyes filling with tears. "You know that the change can't be reversed."

"It can be mitigated though," he said eying her body. "We can stop the process from continuing. From poisoning you. How long?"

"Does it matter," she said as she started fumbled with her bra. She really needed a new one this one barely even covered up anything anymore. It didn't help he was looking at her like she had grown two heads and she was suddenly feeling exceedingly self-conscious about herself and her body when she had felt like a queen mere minutes before.

"Well, clearly it's been a while," he said still looking at her swollen stomach before she promptly threw her robes on hiding her bump and the rest of her from him. "You didn't care to tell me about any of this?"

"Because I knew you'd react poorly. I didn't think you'd tell me to kill our child though."

He glared at her "You will get rid of it. I will not raise a monster. I will not have you become a monster."

"No, I will not."

"As your husband and lord I will invoke my rights for you obey per the terms of our marriage contract so help me God..."

He wouldn't.

What she did then surprised herself. Slightly shaking, she took off her rings and handed them to him in a very matter of fact manner. "Then if that's the case, it's over."

He then did something she hadn't expected. He hit her so hard that tumbled for a second. He had hit her in the eye. She couldn't help but stare at him her eyes practically bulging the one that wasn't hurt that was. He had never been physical with her before….he reminded her of Abraxas at that moment.
"You…you hit me." She finally said surprised he had done something so muggle-ish. What would he do next, curse her? She was more certain than ever she made the right choice taking off those rings.

"Only for you to see reason," he said. "You will listen to me. Now, put your rings back on."

She ignored his demands. "You broke our vows when you impregnated me with a daughter. Don't you remember that little clause my parents insisted on being in the contract?" She hissed. "Mother made sure I knew every aspect of the contract before signing. Especially that little provision."

"Narcissa… don't make this worse."

"Make it worse? You fucking hit me in the eye. Seriously? Why would you want to be married to a creature anyway?" She said, "Because that's what I'm becoming. Admit it, Luc, you don't want to be married to a monster. Well, I don't want to be married to one either."

Lucius just stared at her before he slapped her again this time she almost lost her balance and thought she had seen stars for a second or two. Her entire face hurt. She barely gotten up in time to avoid a curse he threw towards her.

She recognized the color as she barely was able to dodge it.

How dare he try to induce a miscarriage, she thought, bending over in pain.

Her babies!

She then felt something snap within her. She was pretty sure it was their bond. It was broken. She couldn't feel him anymore and didn't want to feel him. She didn't know if he felt it yet, but he would. Anything tying her and children to the Malfoys was gone.

Rage built up in her as she saw fire forming in her hands she threw it at Lucius before he cursed her again. Hitting his wand destroying it.

"You bitch…" He said coming towards her again this time hitting her in the stomach.

Narcissa gasped in even more pain as she found herself throwing yet another fireball at him before apparating away. She just hoped she didn't lose her children.

Lucius Malfoy was furious. How dare his wife keep something like a pregnancy from him. Yet, clearly she had done so. And to hand him her rings and declare their marriage over! She deserved more than just to be slapped a couple of times. He was being rather merciful with her when he threw the termination curse at her. His Father would've done a lot worse. Probably would've held her under the cruciatus curse at the very least. Though admittedly, his father probably would not have thrown the termination curse.

A part of him was horrified at what he done to his wife, but he quickly swept those feelings away. She was becoming one of those things.

He knew secretly she was right she wouldn't want her if she turned into….into that creature.

He remember thinking of how responsive she was, how beautiful she had gotten, those breasts of hers made him go wild, how long it had been and then he felt the blasted thing kick.

It wasn't a thing; it was his child. His daughter. Not, it was a monster. It was taking his wife away from him. Even if she got rid of it she'd still be changed. Tainted.

He remembered looking at her with the glamor charms removed. From the size of her she looked like she was fairly far along. She hadn't been showing much with Draco until the end of her second trimester. Could she be that far along? He didn't know how he hadn't picked up on it earlier. He had noticed she gained a good amount of weight, but he thought she had been eating more between stress and grief. He really hadn't mind. She always borderline too thin for his taste. Too flat chested. The new curves were tantalizing, but she hadn't gotten merely plump, she was pregnant. And pregnant for quite a well based on the size of that belly.

How long had she known? How long had she known she was becoming one of those creatures?

He now could see signs of the change. Her hair had become silky smooth and long. He had actually commented her on that. Her complexion paler. Her eyes even looked different they were starting to look like Mother's. Damn it, he had felt like she had used the allure on him earlier today too, even though he was pretty sure she didn't. She certainly seemed more enthused in their love making….

She couldn't control herself.

Merde.

He hoped and prayed it wasn't a full transformation. He couldn't lose her. Somehow, he'd have to convince her to allow him to recast the spell on her to terminate the blasted thing.

He would not have his wife turned into a monster. He frowned thinking of how she gave him back her rings. Surely, she'd calm down and realize he had a point and come back to him.

He needed to think. Only his solace was broken by Severus Snape of all freaking people.

"Severus," he said trying to get control over his emotions. He was just glad he had thrown his fire whisky glass a few minutes ago before the man had came in and already vanished the bits of glass.

Severus looked at him, "I got your owls."

"I was starting to think you weren't taking mail." Lucius said trying to get a hold of his emotions.

"Is now a bad time?" Severus said sensing his weakness.

Lucius shook his head even though it was. He tried to put thoughts about his wife in the back of his mind for now. He still had time to convince her he told himself, even though the size of Narcissa's stomach indicated otherwise.

"Do you want a drink?" He finally asked the man wondering if he could throw a little truth serum in it and get what he wanted from Severus.

The man grimaced. "It's still morning."

"Never stopped you in the past," Lucius said.

"I was teaching then," Severus said. "Alcohol is needed when you teach brats."

"Seriously, drinking while on the job?" He asked.

"Not during Draco's class." He said knowing that Lucius likely would become unglued if he knew he had been drunk while teaching his son Potions. Even though

Lucius was pretty sure Severus was lying. It made sense why he just had instructions on the board now.

"You know I'm a school governor," Lucius said.

Severus rolled his eyes. "Considering that I'm taking a leave of absence and am seriously thinking about not renewing my contract it is likely a non-issue. Not that it would be one with you anyway given our friendship."

Lucius may pretend to be friends with the man, but he couldn't stand him. He notice the way Severus eyes often looked at his wife's body and he hated it. He had often made lewd remarks about his later sister in-law as well…sometimes he wondered. But he knew the man was devoted to Potter. That crazy loon. Maybe he just liked loons.

"Even if you don't decide to continue teaching, I may need your services for the school."

Severus raised an eyebrow.

"The Granger situation needs to be dealt with," He lied.

"Won't the being status hearing take care of that," Severus said.

It probably would, but that wasn't why Lucius had wanted to talk to the man. "There are potential issues. The girl's mother, for example, needs to be dealt with. She can't be oblivated like a typical muggle. However, I do remember that you were apt at making potions that might have her believing she never had a daughter…"

Severus smirked. "Dumbledore didn't sanction this did he?"

Lucius rolled his eyes. "Dumbledore doesn't know. That old fool has caused enough problems for the school. We need Emma Granger to go away. I'm assuming you still know how to make the stuff."

Severus smirked, "I might. For a price."

Luckily for Severus, Sirius Black had been willing to pay anything to find out the truth about whatever it was he brewed that could twist your thoughts, twist who you were, make you hurt who you loved.

He really was a monster for inventing such a brew.

Chapter 32: Nacissa health is checked over and there is more fallout from her fight with Lucius.
