Dr. Connor brandished his sharp claws, charging at Peter with an air of invincibility, as if he could easily tear through any defenses. Ye Hai swiftly moved in, grabbing Connor's right claw. Seeing Ye Hai meet him head-on, Connor smirked maliciously, determined to crush this guy's hand.
Suddenly, the vicious look on Connor's face froze, revealing a hint of disbelief. Ye Hai's small hand erupted with unexpected strength, gripping Connor's massive claw tightly. There was a sound of cracking bones, and a wave of excruciating pain coursed through Connor.
"Ah!" Connor screamed in agony, trying to free himself from Ye Hai's grip, but it was futile. He swung his left claw desperately at Ye Hai's head, generating a gust of wind.
Ye Hai met the attack with his right fist, and the clash of the gigantic claw and the insignificant fist produced a sickening crunch.
"Puff!" The sound of shattering bones echoed; Connor's lizard-like claw was now twisted and contorted.
"It's impossible!" Connor cried in pain, shocked that this guy had suddenly become so powerful, completely overpowering him.
With a powerful leap, Ye Hai lunged into the giant lizard's embrace. The immense force collided with the massive creature, and with a crash, the lizard's body crumpled inward, blood spewing from its jagged mouth, its eyes glazing over—a clear sign of exhaustion.
"Whoa! Buddy, how did you suddenly become so strong?" Peter exclaimed as he flew over, astonished.
"I was always this strong; I was just warming up with him earlier," Ye Hai replied, his sharp gaze fixed on the sky, where a fighter jet soared toward them, radiating brilliant light.
Earlier, his superhuman vision had detected the jet lurking in the distance, and he realized that with such advanced equipment, they must be government agents. That's why he had spent 1,000 scientific points to unlock level four of his brain domain, intending to showcase his formidable power to the government, making them think twice before causing him trouble.
The light approached rapidly, and soon a jet was hovering in front of them.
With a hiss, the hatch swung open, revealing a serious-looking middle-aged man with a quiver slung over his back. "I'm Hawkeye. Can you hand over the monster in your hands?"
As he spoke, a massive shadow loomed overhead. Hawkeye quickly dodged to the side just as the large lizard crashed into the hangar, causing the jet to sway violently. Fortunately, the skilled pilot managed to stabilize the aircraft, avoiding disaster.
The action team members, still shaken, glared at Ye Hai.
Hawkeye furrowed his brow and said, "Sir, couldn't you at least give us a heads-up?"
Ye Hai shrugged and replied, "Sorry, I didn't realize your toys were so fragile."
"Alright then." Hawkeye was at a loss for words and asked, "How should I refer to you two?"
"Call me Spider-Man," Peter said, "As for my real name, sorry, no comment!"
Ye Hai added, "I'm a scientist. You can call me Dr. Science."
Peter scoffed, "That's a pretty casual nickname, isn't it? It sounds like you just came up with it. Need me to give you a better one?"
"No thanks, I think this nickname is just fine," Ye Hai declined Peter's suggestion.
After a moment, Hawkeye adjusted his earpiece and said, "Gentlemen, our director wants to meet you both. Please board the plane."
But Peter shook his head, "Sorry, I'm just a low-level employee. I still have pizzas to deliver. Bye!" With that, he shot out a web and swung away.
Having anticipated that response, Hawkeye did not try to stop Spider-Man but instead turned his attention to Ye Hai. With his impressive abilities, gaining Ye Hai's allegiance could provide S.H.I.E.L.D. with a powerful asset.
"I have a date with my girlfriend too. Bye!" Ye Hai said before taking off.
"Alright then, everyone seems busy," Hawkeye said resignedly. "Let's head back."
The fighter jet slowly ascended, and the team members inside pointed at the giant lizard.
One tall Black man remarked, "That lizard must weigh at least two tons!"
Hawkeye assessed the creature, saying, "It's probably even more than that."
He reached out, feeling the lizard's body; its scales and bones were densely packed, impervious to ordinary bullets. Yet, this creature, whose body was as tough as steel, had been crushed with ease by that scientist.
Very strong—this scientist is incredibly strong!
Suddenly, Hawkeye's heart raced with a sense of imminent danger. He rolled to the side just as a massive claw swiped through the air, tearing the tall Black man in half, blood spattering across the cabin.
"Quinton!" his teammates shouted, firing their weapons into the massive creature as it emitted agonized cries. The lizard rammed its body against the hatch, tearing it open and leaping out in the blink of an eye.
"Splash!" The heavy lizard twisted in the air before crashing into the river, disappearing completely beneath the surface.
"Descend, descend!" the team members yelled.
The fighter jet gradually descended, activating infrared sensors, scanning the river's surface for signs of the creature. Many types of fish appeared on the monitors, but they couldn't locate the massive cold-blooded being.
"Damn it! That lizard is a cold-blooded animal and can regulate its body temperature; our infrared sensors can't detect it," Hawkeye cursed, begrudgingly giving the order, "Let's head back!"
"Yes!"
The jet transformed into a stream of light, soaring into the sky and piercing through the clouds before arriving at the airborne carrier.
Director Nick was grave. "Hawkeye, what do you think that… scientist's power level is?"
Hawkeye pondered for a moment before replying, "Preliminary assessment suggests that Spider-Man and that lizard are both level three, whereas the scientist easily injured the lizard with brute strength—he must be level four."
"Another level four mutant has emerged?" Nick's brow furrowed as he gazed into the dark sky. "There are very few mutants who can reach level four. The most well-known are Professor X and that madman Magneto. We need to find out if this scientist has any other abilities beyond flight and strength!"
Dealing with a level four power with flight and great strength isn't too hard, but if he has powers similar to Professor X or Magneto, that would be terrifying. Therefore, Director Nick had to be concerned.
