NES

Beep! Beep! Beep!

11am:

Ness groaned softly as his alarm buzzed beside him, its shrill tone cutting through the stillness of his room. He reached out with one hand, fumbling until his fingers brushed the cold plastic of his phone. With a swipe, the noise stopped, leaving a lingering silence that begged him to rise. Instead, Ness let his arm flop back onto the mattress, phone still clutched in his hand.

Blinking against the early morning light filtering through the blinds, he unlocked his screen. The familiar red-and-white icon of YouTube called to him, and before he knew it, he was scrolling through the feed. A faint grin tugged at his lips as he clicked on a video—a League video on how to get better.

Minutes turned into seconds in his groggy haze, his body sinking deeper into the mattress. The muffled voices of the video mingled with the ambient hum of the morning, lulling him into a comfortable limbo where the real world could wait.

11:38am:

Eventually, Ness shook himself out of his daze, his body growing restless from lying idle for so long. With a sigh, he swung his legs off the bed. Opening the mini fridge and feeding Lucky his breakfast. Next, he shuffled to the bathroom, his feet dragging against the cool floor. Routine took over as he went about his business, the morning fog in his head clearing with every step.

A hot shower worked wonders, the steam curling around him and easing the lingering tension from his sleep. Once done, he dried his hair with a towel, brushing out the damp strands until they settled messily. Next came brushing his teeth, the minty freshness waking him up further, and then his quick facial care routine—a ritual he'd picked up to keep his skin in check.

When he stepped out of the bathroom, the scent of soap and shampoo lingered faintly in the air, and he made his way to his closet. Sliding the doors open, he eyed his options with a thoughtful hum. His wardrobe could be summed up in two categories: casual streetwear—the classic skater look—and the more polished preppy style.

Ness stood there for a moment, weighing his options. "Do I want to feel loose or professional today?" he muttered under his breath. His eyes darted between a crisp button-up and a well-worn band t-shirt. A lazy grin spread across his face. "Yeah, definitely loose."

He grabbed the band t-shirt, slipping it on before layering his trusty oversized black hoodie over it. For pants, there was no debate—his usual baggy cargo pants won out. As he finished getting dressed, his hand instinctively reached for his signature red-and-blue cap, the brim slightly worn from years of use, and he slung his rucksack over his shoulder.

12:23pm:

Ness grabbed his keys from the counter and turned to Lucky, his faithful companion, with a mischievous grin. In his other hand, he held a tiny, colorful vest. Lucky eyed it warily, his tail swishing in protest as Ness knelt down to slip it over him.

"C'mon, buddy, you know the drill," Ness teased, but Lucky wasn't going to give in without a fight. The two wrestled playfully for a moment—Lucky squirming and pawing at the offending garment, while Ness dodged and laughed. But as always, Ness emerged victorious, securing the vest in place.

With the struggle over, Lucky gave in, wagging his tail as he spun in happy circles. "See? You look great," Ness said with a chuckle, giving him a light pat. He shoved his skateboard in his rucksack, and made sure he had his keys before they headed out the door and over to Lucas's.

Ness knocked on the door, and soon his friend appeared, greeting them with a cheerful smile. Together, the trio set off toward the food court, the warm buzz of conversation and the scent of fried food greeting them as they stepped inside.

As they made their way through the bustling space, a few familiar faces turned their way, casting curious or judgmental glances. The "Ness allegations" still lingered in whispers among the Smashers, but Ness and Lucas had learned to brush it off. Lucky trotted beside them, blissfully unaware of the stares.

At the counter, they placed their orders—something quick and greasy, perfect for a casual outing. Moments later, they settled at a small table near the corner of the food court.

"So, what's the latest on that new RPG you were talking about?" Lucas asked, leaning forward with interest.

Ness took a bite of his meal before answering. "Oh, it's awesome. The combat system is insane, and the graphics are next level. You'd love it."

The conversation flowed easily, bouncing between their favorite games, upcoming releases, and the occasional joke that made Lucas snort and Lucky tilt his head in confusion.

With their plates empty and their stomachs full, Ness and Lucas made their way outside, the crisp air greeting them as they stepped into the open. Lucky trotted happily alongside, his vest drawing the occasional admiring glance from people passing by.

The trio wandered to the Pokepark, a peaceful haven filled with trainers and their Pokémon enjoying the day. The sound of wings flapping and laughter from children playing mingled with the rustling leaves. Ness and Lucas strolled along the winding paths, their conversation effortlessly circling back to video games.

"I'm telling you," Lucas said, gesturing animatedly, "if they add multiplayer to that game, it'll blow up!"

"They'd better," Ness replied with a chuckle. "Otherwise, what's the point? They'd just be leaving money on the table."

Lucky sniffed at the grass and wagged his tail, occasionally glancing up as though following their debate. The three eventually found an empty bench near a shaded area, where they sat for a while, soaking in the atmosphere.

Just as Ness leaned back to stretch, his phone buzzed sharply. He pulled it out, groaning as he saw the time. "Shoot! I have to go to work," he said, standing up in a hurry and brushing nonexistent crumbs off his hoodie. "Stardew later tonight?"

"Of course! I can't wait," Lucas replied, standing as well and giving a wide grin. "Good luck at work."

"Thanks. I'll need it," Ness said with a laugh, adjusting his rucksack.

The two exchanged a casual wave before heading off in opposite directions. As Lucas disappeared down the park's winding path, Ness pulled his skateboard out of his rucksack with a practiced motion, the familiar weight of it grounding him.

He set it down with a satisfying clatter, stepping on with ease. "Come on, Lucky," he called, glancing at his companion.

Lucky perked up immediately, tail wagging as he fell into step beside Ness. The rhythmic sound of wheels against pavement mixed with the soft panting of the Espeon as they moved together in sync.

3:00pm:

As they approached the familiar building, the large wooden sign that read PokeDayCare swung slightly in the breeze. Ness skidded to a stop on his skateboard, stepping off smoothly before picking it up and tucking it under his arm. Lucky trotted beside him, his vest slightly askew but still intact.

Once inside, the cozy atmosphere of the daycare greeted them—bright walls painted with cheerful murals of Pokémon at play, and the faint scent of flowers wafting in from the yard. Ness headed straight to the clock-in station, swiping his card with a soft beep before stifling a yawn.

The sound of a door creaking open caught his attention, and Leaf stepped out from the yard, her brown hair catching the light. She gave him a warm smile. "Baby Pokémon department?" she asked knowingly, her voice laced with amusement.

"You know it," Ness replied with a groan, already bracing himself for the chaos ahead.

Leaf chuckled, crossing her arms as she leaned casually against the doorframe. "Hahaha! Good luck," she teased, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Thanks," he muttered, running a hand through his hair. "I'm definitely going to need it."

With that, she gave him a quick wave before slipping back into the yard, leaving Ness to face his destiny. He took a deep breath and made his way toward the baby Pokémon area.

As he opened the door, the familiar sounds of squeaks, chirps, and tiny growls filled the air. Dozens of baby Pokémon were scattered across the room, playing, tumbling, and—of course—causing minor mayhem. Ness sighed but couldn't help the small smile tugging at his lips.

"Alright, you little troublemakers," he said, rolling up his sleeves. "Let's do this."

Hours stretched on as Ness worked tirelessly, the lively chatter of baby Pokémon filling the air. It was a whirlwind of feeding, cleaning, and gently separating the occasional playful scuffle. Each task blended into the next, and yet, there was something endearing about the chaos.

When nap time finally rolled around, a hush fell over the room as the baby Pokémon curled up on soft blankets or inside their favorite spots. Ness tiptoed between them, making sure everyone was settled before sinking into a rocking chair with a relieved sigh.

He pulled out his phone, grateful for the brief moment of peace, and started texting. Lucas's name was always near the top of his list, but Tina's was a close second. His messages ranged from quick jokes to updates about his day, like, "A Pichu just tried to climb my leg like a tree. My job is wild."

Occasionally, when the silence stretched on, Ness would step outside into the yard. The fresh air was a welcome change from the warm, Pokémon-filled room. Leaf was often nearby, tending to the older Pokémon or organizing supplies. She always greeted him with a smile.

"Still surviving in there?" she teased during one of his visits.

"Barely," Ness replied with a mock-dramatic sigh.

After a few minutes of chatting, he would head back inside, ensuring the baby Pokémon were still peacefully napping—or at least trying to.

As the hours ticked by, the golden hues of the setting sun began to spill through the daycare's windows, signaling the end of another long day. Ness stretched his arms over his head, his joints popping after hours of bending, lifting, and chasing after baby Pokémon.

Leaf stepped back inside, brushing off a few stray leaves from her apron. "Closing time already?" she asked, her voice carrying a note of relief.

"Finally," Ness muttered, his tone half-exhausted, half-grateful.

The two quickly fell into a rhythm, working together to tidy up the daycare. Ness scooped up stray toys and folded blankets while Leaf checked the food and water stations.

"Hey, can you double-check the list of pickups?" Leaf asked, handing Ness a clipboard.

"On it," he replied, scanning the neatly written names. Together, they made sure every trainer had collected their Pokémon, checking the pens and habitats to confirm no one had been forgotten.

Once the last trainer had left and the daycare was finally quiet, they stood for a moment, surveying their work. The room was clean, the Pokémon were gone, and the air carried a comforting stillness.

"Not bad for a day's work," Leaf said with a grin, nudging Ness lightly.

"Yeah, but I'm definitely ready to crash," he replied, stifling a yawn.

9pm:

They locked up the daycare for the night, the click of the door echoing as the lights inside flickered off. The cool evening air wrapped around them as they stepped outside, the city's hum beginning to fade into the quiet of the night.

Side by side, Ness and Leaf walked toward the mansion, the familiar buildings casting long shadows in the streetlights' glow. Their conversation flowed easily, the day's work behind them, but the energy still present in their voices.

When they reached the food court, they settled at a familiar booth, the warm smells of dinner filling the air. Leaf dove into her favorite topic—Pokémon, of course—her voice animated as she recounted the latest news and strategies. Ness listened intently, offering his own thoughts when he could, though his ramblings veered more toward the specifics: "Well, if you look at the stats for an Alakazam, it's clear that the special attack is way more important than the speed—"

Leaf laughed, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "I swear, you could talk about Pokémon stats for hours."

"You do the same shit," Ness teased back, leaning back in his seat.

They shared a comfortable silence after their banter, finishing up their meals as the food court began to quiet down.

"Well, it's getting late. I should head back," Leaf said, checking the time on her phone.

"I'll walk you," Ness offered, standing and reaching out a hand to help her up.

She smiled warmly, taking his hand without hesitation. "Thanks, Ness."

Together, they walked toward her place, the air crisp and refreshing as they shared easy conversation along the way. When they arrived, Leaf stopped in front of her door, giving him a grateful smile.

"Thanks for today," she said, her voice soft. "I really appreciate it."

"No problem," Ness replied with a grin. "You made my day too."

They exchanged a final wave, and Ness turned, making his way back to his own place.

DM

Tina: ayyyye howz it

Ness: Oh hi!

Tina: wanna start practicin

Ness: Yes! I'm on my way to pick up my guitar right now.

Tina: cant wait!

10:16pm:

Ness returned to his room, the cool quiet of the night settling around him as he kicked off his shoes and dropped his skateboard in the corner. He reached for his guitar, the familiar weight of it grounding him after the long day. He ran his fingers over the strings for a moment, the gentle hum of the instrument a comfort before he tucked it under his arm and headed out again.

The walk to the music hall was a familiar one, the rhythmic sound of his boots against the pavement blending with the distant hum of the city. He arrived at the building, pushing open the door to room 108. The instant he stepped inside, the sound of instruments warmed the air—Tina and her band were already deep into their practice.

"Hey, Ness!" Tina called out with a bright smile, waving him over. The band members were scattered around the room, each focused on their instruments. Ness settled into his usual spot, guitar in hand, trying to match the rhythm.

It wasn't always easy to keep up with the band, especially when the tempo shifted or the music grew more intricate. But Tina was always encouraging, her voice cutting through the noise as she gave him a thumbs up. "You're doing great, Ness! Don't stress."

Her words always made him feel a little better, though he could never quite shake the feeling that he was a step behind. Still, he played with everything he had, getting lost in the music and the energy of the practice. The hours flew by, and soon they were finishing up, the last chords echoing into silence.

"Great session, everyone!" Tina said, her voice full of warmth. "Let's call it a night."

One by one, the band members packed up their instruments and said their goodbyes. Ness lingered a bit longer, his guitar case slung over his shoulder, but the moment soon passed. He couldn't help but glance toward the door where Tina was talking with Riley and Kip. They were always at her side—always.

Ness sighed, his fingers tightening around the strap of his guitar case. He wanted to walk her back, maybe even talk a bit more, but he knew better. Riley and Kip were always hovering around, making everything feel... off. With a quiet shake of his head, he turned and left the music hall, heading back to his room alone.

11:10pm:

Ness was deeply immersed in his League game, his mind solely focused on the screen in front of him. His fingers flew over the keys with precision as he and Nate dove into another round.

The window slid open with a soft whoosh, and before Ness could even register what had happened, Sonic had already hopped into the room, landing effortlessly on the floor with his usual cocky grin.

"Nice dodge, Cheddar Biscuit~" Sonic's voice rang out, as he tapped the brunet on the shoulder, startling him. Ness flinched, momentarily losing focus on his game.

He turned around, annoyance flashing in his eyes. "Why am I not surprised?" he muttered under his breath, his eyes rolling as he quickly turned his attention back to the screen.

Sonic chuckled, undeterred by the lack of enthusiasm. He kicked off his shoes, not bothering to put them away, instead tossing them carelessly into the middle of the room. With a shrug, he made his way over to Ness's mini-fridge, opening it without a second thought. He pulled out a rice ball, unwrapped it, and stuffed it into his mouth.

Grinning mischievously, Sonic grabbed a game controller from the nightstand and powered up Ness's console. He sprawled out on the bed with a sigh of satisfaction, getting comfortable as though he belonged there.

12:14pm:

After the final match in League, Ness and Nate exchanged quick goodbyes, both still buzzing from the intensity of the game. As soon as Nate logged off, Ness didn't hesitate—he immediately booted up Stardew Valley. He grinned as he clicked through to his saved farm file, his mind already racing with what he'd be doing next.

He quickly opened Discord and called Lucas, the familiar ring of the call echoing through his headphones before Lucas's voice popped up. "Hey, Ness! Ready for some farm life?"

"Always," Ness replied, a grin tugging at his lips as he dove into the game.

The two fell into an easy rhythm, the sounds of their laughter and the game's cheery music filling the room. They chatted about everything from farm upgrades to their favorite in-game festivals. Ness found himself loving the grind of farming—planting crops, tending animals, and, of course, the money-making factory of selling goods. It wasn't what he had expected to enjoy, but there was something satisfying about keeping the farm profitable, the cash rolling in as the seasons changed.

Meanwhile, Lucas worked his magic on the farm's aesthetics. He was the one who made sure the farm looked inviting, with pretty flowerbeds and well-placed decorations. "I added some more trees and put up a few more scarecrows," Lucas mentioned cheerfully as he tidied up their shared space. "It's looking great!"

Ness chuckled as he continued to plant crops. "Yeah, we're gonna be rolling in gold soon, and it'll look all nice too. Perfect combo."

1:30pm:

Sonic glanced at the time on his phone, his brow furrowing as he noticed how late it had gotten. A yawn escaped him, and his usual impatience began to take over. He was starting to feel the weight of sleepiness, and Ness's laughter—loud and carefree—was only making it worse.

With a huff, he pushed himself off the bed and made his way over to Ness, who was still focused on his screen, laughing at something Lucas had said. Sonic tapped the psychic's shoulder, a little more forcefully than necessary.

Ness turned around, raising an eyebrow at the hedgehog. "What?"

Sonic tapped his foot, his impatience clear as he crossed his arms. "It's past one in the mornin'. Time to go to bed."

Ness blinked and glanced at the clock, his tiredness finally catching up to him. He let out a sigh, realizing that Sonic was right. It had gotten really late, and his eyes were starting to feel heavy.

"Alright, alright," Ness muttered, reluctantly ending his call with Lucas. "Sorry, Lucas, but I have to go. I'll catch you later."

Lucas's voice came through the speakers with a playful tone. "Yeah, you're right. It's getting late. It's just so much fun~"

"It is! Especially playing with you," Ness agreed with a small grin. "But I guess I'll have to save the fun for tomorrow." He stretched and leaned back, feeling the exhaustion settle in his bones.

Sonic waited for him to shut down the game, the impatience in his posture now replaced with a more relaxed stance. "Good, now let's get some sleep. I'm not gonna let you stay up 'til dawn again."

Ness: "What're you, my dad?"

Sonic: "Nope, I'm your mom."

Ness: "You make an ugly mom."

Sonic: "Nah, I'm a milf."

Ness: "You wish."

Sonic: "You'd make an ugly mom. Hahaha!"

Ness: "Weren't you tired just a second ago? Where's this annoying energy coming from?"

Sonic shrugged. With a carefree grin, he plopped onto the bed, pulling the blanket over his shoulders like he owned the place.

But Ness wasn't having it. He shot a quick glance at Sonic, annoyance flickering in his eyes. Without missing a beat, he used his psychic powers, his brow furrowing in concentration as he lifted Sonic off the bed with a flick of his wrist.

"Hey!" Sonic yelped, surprised by the sudden shift.

With a smooth motion, Ness flung the hedgehog onto the floor, where Sonic landed with an ungraceful thud. He sat up, rubbing his back with a groan.

"Dude!" Sonic growled, shooting a playful glare at Ness. "What the hell?" Ness stood there, arms crossed and looking down at Sonic with an unamused expression. "We're not a couple. Stop tryin' to sleep next to me all the time."

Sonic: "Bruh, it's just two bros sharin' a bed. Don't make it weird."

Ness: "I… Don't want to hold you in my sleep."

Sonic: "Riiight. I forgot you're a fuckin' creep."

Ness: "I'm not a creep! I literally have no control over it."

Sonic: "Yeah, yeah, whatever."

Ness: "Why're you so upset? It's like you want me to hold you."

Sonic: "Eww, hell no!"

Ness: "Then either leave and go sleep in your own bed, or sleep on the floor."

Sonic: "Don't ya got a sleepin' bag or somethin'?"

Ness: "I have lots of blankets and pillows."

Sonic: "Why?"

Ness: "I like them."

Sonic: "Isn't that what girls do?"

Ness: "No! It's just comforting y'know."

Sonic: "Why's your y's so breathy?"

Ness: "Leave me and my voice alone."

Sonic: "Hahaha!"

Ness rolled his eyes and went to the bathroom to change into pajamas, which was always just a lounge shirt and basketball shorts. He brushed his teeth and went to his bed pulling a bunch of blankets over his body.

Sonic crawled up in the bed despite Ness kicking him out earlier. The brunet scowled and turned his back towards him. "Get out of my bed."

Sonic: "Nah, it's comfy. Plus there's a lot of space between us."

Ness: "I have a cuddling problem."

Sonic: "What, you gonna reach all the way over here just to hold me?"

Ness: "Yes! That's why I'm telling you to get off."

Sonic: "Bro, I'm not your girlfriend."

Ness: "Didn't you just hear what I said?!"

Sonic: "Heard ya loud and clear~"

The banter between Sonic and Ness continued for a while, until both of them were too tired to continue. Their voices grew slower, more relaxed, the energy from earlier now replaced with a quiet, almost lazy rhythm. They took turns trying to outdo each other with memes, each one funnier than the last, until they were both laughing in soft, tired bursts.

"Sonic, that one is so old," Ness said between chuckles, his voice hoarse from laughing too much. "I can't believe you're still bringing that one up."

Sonic grinned, his eyes half-lidded from sleepiness. "Hey, it's classic! Classic memes never die!"

They continued to laugh, the sound echoing in the quiet room, their exhaustion starting to catch up to them. Slowly, their energy waned, and the conversation turned quieter. The jokes came slower, and the laughter faded into comfortable silence.

This was the usual with the two of them. They would bicker back and forth, teasing each other endlessly, until suddenly, Sonic would toss out a joke—something so absurd or ridiculous that it'd catch Ness off guard, making him laugh despite himself. Their conversations would drift into something lighthearted and fun, full of sarcastic remarks and goofy commentary, or Ness would find himself scrolling through TikTok while Sonic, with no shame, would scooch closer to peek at the screen.

Ness hated to admit it, but he genuinely liked this. He liked the routine he had formed. Seeing his friends, getting lost in work, jamming with the band, and playing video games until late into the night. And, of course, Sonic somehow forcing his way into it all.

For once, Ness didn't feel so alone. His life was busy, filled with the noise of friendship, excitement, and the comfort of his routines. It was enough to make him smile in the quiet moments, like now, when Sonic was curled up on the bed.

Ness turned onto his back, staring up at the ceiling for a moment, his mind slowing down as his eyes drifted over to Sonic, who was now sound asleep. His breathing was steady, the slight rise and fall of his chest almost soothing. Ness hesitated for a second, watching the hedgehog, then quietly throwing his giant blanket over both of them.

The thin blanket Sonic had on looked a little uncomfortable, like it wasn't quite enough to keep him cozy. Ness didn't think much of it—just a small, thoughtful act that felt natural to him.

As he tucked the blanket around them, an odd thought crossed his mind. For a moment, he imagined what it would feel like to reach over and gently pet Sonic's soft fur. It was a fleeting thought—one that made him feel a little strange. It wasn't something he was used to, and it definitely felt like something too intimate, something too strange for them. He quickly shook it off, his cheeks warming at the thought.

"Get a grip, Ness," he muttered to himself quietly. "Don't be weird."

Instead, he settled back into his pillow, pulling the blanket up higher as he closed his eyes, the rhythmic sound of Sonic's breathing soothing him into a calm, peaceful sleep. It was nice, the thought of having someone there—someone who felt like a part of his everyday life, even if that someone was Sonic The Annoying Hedgehog.

Author's Note: This is pretty much Ness's everyday. Of course there's a change here and there in his daily routine, but this is basically a day in his life. I don't usually go into detail of his everyday because I'm more focused on events, but it's still slice of life so you'll still see him interact with friends and such. There's drama, but I also wanted to capture his relationships and how they act regularly rather than drama drama drama. This is to really get to know the characters more. I promise the drama will come. This story is painfully slow and it do be boring at times, but ya know sometimes life be boring to get to the interesting juicy parts.
