Chapter 54: Hunted
(Middle of the Atlantic Ocean)
The T-Ship was flying over the ocean heading back towards their home in Jump City. It's been a day or two after helping the Doom Patrol defeat the Brotherhood of Evil. Since then, there have been no confirmed sightings of The Brain or any of his followers.
"Oh, I cannot wait to return home to see Silkie and Stitch," Starfire said, happily, through her radio.
"I wonder how things have been while we've been away," Rose replied.
"It's only been a few days, what could've happened?" Cyborg asked.
"The city could've bee destroy, all the banks robbed, people could've been hurt," Beast Boy listed off.
"I think he was joking, Gar," Raven said with a smirk, making her and Rose laugh.
"Have we heard anything from the Doom Patrol?" Sora asked.
"Not yet. I think they're still heading home. Hopefully, we'll hear from them soon," Robin replied.
"Agreed, I would hate to hear that they got attacked again," Sora said. They continued to fly over the calm waves until suddenly, an alarm blared across everyone's dashboards. Computer screens popped up in front of them, showing the picture of honorary Titan, Wildebeest.
"Wildebeest? Why is he calling?" Sora asked, worried.
"About to find out," Robin said, typing on his dashboard and accepting the call. "Robin to Wildebeest. Do you read me? Come in. Over," He spoke into the radio and was answered with several grunts.
"Sounds like he's in distress," Rose said. Suddenly, Wildebeest made a loud grunt of pain as something sounded like it him.
"Answer me! Wildebeest!" Robin yelled but the communication was suddenly lost.
"We lost him!" Cyborg replied.
"Sounded like something hit him. He must've been ambushed," Rose replied.
"But who would go after Friend Wildebeest?" Starfire asked.
"And whoever they are, how did they find him?" Beast Boy asked.
"I don't know guys. But we're going to find out. Titans, looks like we're taking a detour," Robin said, turning the ship around and flying off to Wildebeest's last location.
"Hopefully, we can find him," Sora said.
"Don't worry Sora. We'll figure this out," Raven replied.
(Meanwhile, in Paris, France)
Deep underground laid a huge base made for the Brotherhood of Evil, where The Brain and Monsieur Mallah were playing a game of chess with a pot of tea off to the side, while Maleficent and Pete stood in front of the large world map sprawled across the wall.
"We have captured one of their pawns," Mallah reported.
"Wildebeest is just the first of many. The young Titans' days are numbered," The Brain replied while Mallah moved a white piece to the side.
"Oh, sure Jarhead but we're still missing the most important part of this plan of yers!" Pete yelled across the room. Mallah picked up a teacup and took a sip in response.
"Oui, the fat cat speaks truth," Mallah replied, making Pete growl at him in anger. "Pity the communicator was lost. With it, we could listen to their conversations and know what they are planning," Mallah continued, placing his cup down.
"Not to worry, Monsieur Mallah. In the end, evil always prevails. We will soon be able to follow their every move. And with Maleficent's Heartless, we will find the remaining Titans," The Brain answered.
"And then we destroy them," Mallah finished while moving a white castle.
"From the jungles to the Artic, and everywhere in between, there will be no place for them to hide," The Brain said.
"Be thankful Brain or else your subordinates would've wasted precious time finding these Titans. It took powerful darkness to bring this Heartless here and it will not be wasted hunting children. Remember our deal: You get the Heartless," Maleficent said.
"And you search for this box. The deal remains the same," The Brain replied.
"The witch's pet has already located their friend Hot Spot," Mallah reported.
"He will be no match for my best operative. Queen takes pawn," The Brain moved. Mallah reached over and knocked over a white pawn with the black queen.
"I know I would not wish to meet her in a dark alley," Mallah said. Maleficent and Pete watched them play from afar.
"Why'd we join up with this Brotherhood thing, Maleficent? We could've searched this world for the box and let the key-brat and his super friends deal with them," Pete asked.
"If it means getting rid of Sora and his friends, then it'll be easier to find the box without any interruptions. And after they're gone, we'll deal with this Brotherhood," Maleficent answered, making Pete laugh.
"Always thinking ahead, ain't ya?" the cat bellowed.
"Precisely," The witch said with a smirk. Suddenly the orb on her staff glowed brightly and she looked in to see another young superhero: he had red skin, a pointed tail, horns, and white hair.
"Wow, this thing works quick, huh?" Pete asked, looking into as well.
"Brain, I believe it's located another young hero," Maleficent reported.
(Meanwhile, in the forest of San Francisco)
It was nighttime in the Redwood Forests as a thief ran through the large trees in order to escape the police. He recently stole from several jewelry stores and had to ditch his car at the entrance of the forest. He hid behind a tree and looked to see that he lost the cops, making him smile and double check all the jewels in his bag.
"I suggest you give those up now, while you have the chance," a voice spoke out, making the thief look around in fear, while he pulled out a metal pipe.
"Who's there?! Show yourself!" The thief yelled out. A figure soon landed behind the thief as his red eyes peered at the criminal.
"You asked for it!" The figure said, running out of the shadows, revealing himself to be Kid Devil. The thief turned at the new noise and swung at the honorary Titan with his pipe, but the young hero grabbed it in his hand, making it melt from his own touch. The thief yelled in pain from the heat and let go of the pipe, allowing Kid Devil to toss it away and punch the criminal to the ground, knocking him out in a single hit. He tied him up in a fiery whip and secured the jewels before walking over to the police.
"He's all good to go, officers. And all the jewels are in the bag," Kid Devil said, pointing at the thief and the bag.
"Thanks again, Kid," one of the officers said, offering his hand.
"Uh, remember last time?" Kid Devil said, holding his hands up.
"Oh, right. Well thanks again," The officer replied as they took the thief and jewels out of the forest.
"And so, ends the story of the small-time jewel thief," Kid Devil said to himself, lighting a small fire on the ground and sitting down next to it. He sat down in front of a tree and rested his head against it after a long day of helping the police handle other crimes. He usually hung out in the forest due to his appearance and making sure that he didn't hurt anyone with his powers. He's gotten better control of his burning skin so that it doesn't seriously hurt anyone, but it still left them with a little burn. He did manage to create a small hideout for himself within the city that's underground which he can access by teleporting to it with his portals. What he didn't know was that not too far away, a giant pair of bright red eyes were staring at him from the darkness of the forest. From this creature's perspective, it had red veins and a faint red tint that zoomed in on the young hero. Kid Devil continued to relax until he heard a twig snap and he looked over in the direction but saw nothing.
"Hello?" Kid Devil asked but got no response. He heard another sound from somewhere and he looked but saw nothing except for a faint, red streak. He stood up as more noises came from all around him, as if something was circling him. He took a deep breath in and fired a huge wave of flames from his mouth in a circle around him to ward off whatever was stalking him. He stopped shooting the flames due to not hearing anything else.
"Huh, what was that?" Kid Devil asked himself, looking around for any sign of whatever that creature was. Suddenly, a pair of red eyes flashed behind him, and the creature charged towards him and rammed right into his side, knocking the honorary Titan to the ground. He groaned in pain and looked up to see the dark shape running right towards him. He stood back up and created a flaming bow in hand and fired an arrow at the creature, who didn't even break stride and leaped over the projectile, still aiming for Kid Devil. The young hero's eyes widened before dodging out of the way, while the creature rammed into a nearby tree, knocking it over. He landed in a crouch and shot two more fireballs at the creature before creating a portal with his tail and jumping into it. Kid Devil landed on his back in the dirt while the portal closed as he stood up and dusted his shoulders.
"Whew, hopefully, I lost that thing. Now…where am I?" Kid Devil asked, looking around to see that he was in a part of the forest that he didn't recognize. He started walking through the trees looking for any sign of where he ended up. "Ugh, I hate teleporting without a clear mind and now I gotta wait until those powers cool down. Better see if I can get the lay of the land," Kid Devil said, jumping up the trees until he reached the top, only to see that he was in the middle of the forest, a part that he never got around to exploring and the city was far out in the distance.
"Great," he said in a deadpan tone. He glided down to the ground and started looking around. "Ok, so the city was in that direction…better get moving if that thing finds me again," Kid Devil replied, running into the dark forest.
(Later, in the forest)
Kid Devil walked over another tree root as he continued his trek through the large trees towards the city.
"I should be getting close now," he said to himself, climbing over another broken branch. The young hero looked around the forest to make sure that he wasn't being followed. Luckily, he didn't hear any loud stomps or the creature's red eyes in the distance.
'What was that thing? I couldn't even see any details except for its eyes. And what does it want with me?' Kid Devil asked himself. He's never seen any animals like that thing and no major villains really knew of his location aside from the criminals he dealt with on a daily basis. And he knew none of them would be able control a beast like that without him or the police noticing. Whatever it was, this thing seemed to be quite the hunter and he suspected it wouldn't stop until it caught its prey. The Titan shook his head free of the thoughts as he just focused on getting out of the forest and his eyes widened when he saw the edge of the forest and the city in the distance.
"Finally!" he said, smiling to himself. He was about to run to the edge when suddenly, something made a loud crash behind him, and he turned to see the blackened creature smashing down two trees and rushing right towards him. He quickly rolled out of the way as the beast ran past him and crashed into another tree, making the whole thing shake. Kid Devil summoned two flaming swords and striked at the creature a few times while it was stunned He continued slashing away when suddenly the creature spun around and its tail smacked into the Titan, sending him to the ground. He was about to get back up but then the creature bit down on his foot, making him scream in pain. The beast then dragged him across the ground like he was a toy before releasing him from its jaws, sending the Titan flying and crashing into another nearby tree.
Kid Devil groaned in pain while cradling his injured foot until he saw the creature charging at him like a bull again. He took a quick breath and shot a stream of flames in front of him as a shield, trying to stop the beast. But it didn't even slow down as it got closer to him with claws and teeth at the ready. Kid Devil's eyes widened as he fired a huge ball right into the beast's mouth, making it jump back. The young hero slowly got up as the beast let out a powerful roar, making the trees shake and the darkness around its body to disappear, revealing its purple and black body with dark magenta tentacles around its head like a mane and dark spikes on its back. Its mouth was jagged, yellow eyes that stilled glowed red, and chains wrapped around its forelegs.
"What the-?" Kid Devil asked himself. The beast roared again and charged toward him again, this time leaving a trail of flames in its tracks.
(Meanwhile, in the middle of a desert)
The Titans were split up across the desert looking for their missing honorary member: Cyborg and Beast Boy were checking one area; Raven and Sora checked another area; and Robin and Ravager were in a third area, with Starfire in the air.
"Wildebeest!" Sora yelled, his voice echoing across the empty plains while Raven stood next to him, keeping an eye out.
"What could've happened to him?" Raven asked.
"I don't know. I can't think of anyone who could've beat him. He was pretty tough when we met him in those tournaments," Sora said, looking around for any signs of Wildebeest. "Hopefully, the others are having better luck in finding anything," he said to himself.
"Maybe they did," Raven said, looking out into the distance. Sora was about to ask what she was talking about until he followed her gaze and saw Ravager leaping towards the mesa they were standing on.
"Any luck?" Sora asked the young assassin as she landed next to them.
"Yeah but it's not good," Ravager said, holding up a broken piece of a Titan communicator.
"Oh no," Sora said, taking it from her while Raven walked over to get a closer look.
"Any sign of Wildebeest or where he went?" She asked.
"None. Whoever attacked him knew how to cover their tracks. Something else is going on here," Ravager said.
"Where did Robin and Starfire go?" Sora asked, handing the piece back to her.
"Star went to go tell Cyborg and BB. Robin's going to find out who's behind all this and wants us to keep looking here," Ravager said.
"We haven't found anything in this area. We'd better move closer to where you found the communicator," Raven said, with her two teammates nodding in agreement.
"Sounds like a good idea. Let's get going." Sora said, gliding over the desert with Raven while Ravager followed them by leaping across the pillars.
(Back in the Muir Woods)
Kid Devil was on the run from the giant beast as it pounced and bounced around him constantly, making it very difficult to pin down. He sprinted through the trees and shot more fireballs, but the beast jumped out of the way and spun towards him like a buzz saw while using the chains to launch itself. The young hero tried to dodge but was still hit by the tail, knocking him to the ground. The beast spun around and charged toward him again, so he quickly dodged and created a huge ball of flame in both hands.
"Just back off!" Kid Devil yelled, launching the ball at the beast, who took it head on and pounced further away back into the dark forest. The red-skinned Titan created two flaming swords at the ready and slowly walked around, awaiting the next attack. Suddenly, a huge ball of flame came flying towards him, forcing him to dodge out of the way but as soon as he was clear a large dark ball exploded next to him, sending him crashing into a tree, snapping it in half. Kid Devil let out a pained groan as he heard the creature's footsteps growing closer and he got up, throwing multiple flaming swords at the creature.
"Leave me alone!" He yelled, shooting a large stream of flames from his mouth to accompany it. The flames hit the creature but didn't even faze it as it performed a leaping tailspin, hitting the young hero in the chest and knocking him into a tree stump. He held his side in pain as the beast fired multiple fireballs and dark orbs at him. "C'mon, work!" Kid Devil yelled, focusing his powers and teleporting away in a fiery portal, as the projectiles destroyed the stump. The beast let out an angered roar at the stump as it took off into the forest again. Far away from the stump, Kid Devil poked his head out from behind a tree as he watched the creature disappear. He let out a breath and a groan as his body began to heal from the wounds.
"I…need help," Kid Devil said, pulling out his Teen Titan communicator. He opened it up and pressed the button to contact the team when he suddenly heard the foot stomps again. "Thought I had more time. C'mon, c'mon!" Kid Devil said, looking up to see the red eyes of the beast getting closer and closer.
(Meanwhile, back in the desert)
"Anything?" Sora asked, everyone as they searched the canyons for any evidence.
"Uh, we got a couple of footprints over here," Cyborg said, analyzing said prints.
"Other than that, ditto," Beast Boy said, leaning against his friend out of boredom.
"Nothing else besides those prints," Raven said.
"I worry for the whereabouts of Friend Wildebeest," Starfire replied, landing next to everyone.
"Us too, Star. But we'll find something, I'm sure," Ravager said. Sora nodded his head in agreement when suddenly his communicator went off. He pulled it out as everyone quickly crowded around him.
"Robin?!" Starfire and Ravager asked.
"Wildebeest?!" Cyborg, Beast Boy asked.
"No. Kid Devil," Sora said, answering the call. "Sora to Kid Devil. Do you read me?" Sora asked.
"Sora…I read you. I need your help, please. Something's hunting me," Kid Devil said, out of breath.
"What's hunting you?" Raven asked.
"Some kind of…creature. I dunno. I've never seen anything like it before. It's this giant four-legged beast with yellow eyes with purple spikes and blue markings. I can't get it to leave me alone," Kid Devil replied. Sora and the others share a knowing glance as they suddenly hear foot stomps on Kid Devil's end. "It found me again. Please hurry! AAH!" Kid Devil screamed as the sound of flames and crashes came through.
"Kid! Kid, if you can hear me, I'm on my way! Just hold on!" Sora yelled as the connection was lost. He quickly pocketed his communicator in response. "You guys stay here and keep looking. I'll go and back up Kid," Sora said, starting to walk away.
"Wait, Sora! If this thing is a Heartless, we should come. You could use the back-up," Raven replied, following him.
"From how Kid described it, this sounds like a Heartless that I never encountered before. I can't risk you guys getting hurt. And right now, finding Wildebeest is the next important thing," Sora said, placing his hands on her shoulders. "We'll be fine. I promise," He assured her. She looked down in thought about what to do before she took a breath and looked him in the eyes.
"Okay. But you better not make me come after you," Raven said, smirking, making him smile as well.
"You got it," Sora replied as they both shared a kiss for a little until he pulled away. "I'll be back soon. Promise. Oh, and let Robin know too," Sora said, gliding away. Raven smiled and turned back to the others, who had their own knowing smirks.
"You two…," Cyborg said, in a teasing tone.
"J-just call Robin and keep looking," Raven replied, blushing. Meanwhile, Sora landed next to his ship and boarded it, starting it up.
"Okay, Kid, where are you?" Sora asked, pressing a few buttons on his dashboard, locating the location of Kid Devil's communicator. It took a little until the map zoomed in on the San Francisco's woods. "Got it," he said, bringing his ship up and flying away into the distance.
(Later, in Muir Woods)
Kid Devil was balancing on a tree branch and shooting multiple fire arrows that exploded when they hit the beast, who continued to pounce around the large stump of the tree. It dodged another arrow and jumped away while cutting the stump with its claws. The tree began to fall over as Kid Devil held on and leaped to another stable tree, barely managing to catch himself. He was about to climb up another branch until the beast ran back and shot a huge fireball at the tree, setting it on fire. Kid Devil smirked and manipulated the flames, turning them into two whips. He jumped down and struck at the beast with the whips, keeping it on its toes. He continued to dodge and strike until the beast caught both whips in its mouth. He tried to pull away, but the creature had an iron jaw as it suddenly jerked its head, sending him flying and causing him to let go of the whips. He rolls across the ground and looks up, only to see the beast spinning towards at high speeds, his claws raking across the young hero's body and leaving him in scratches and bruises. He landed on the ground and tried to get up, but the creature stopped him by stomping on his back, making him scream in pain. The creature lowered its head towards Kid Devil's and let out a powerful roar right in his ear.
Meanwhile, Sora's ship flew over the forest looking for any sign of Kid Devil.
"Guys, have you heard anything from Kid Devil?" Sora asked.
"Nothing from our side. Robin asked the same about Hot Spot too," Raven answered.
"Hot Spot? No, I haven't heard anything from him," Sora said, until he spotted some flames and knocked over trees in the distance in the middle of the woods. "I think I found Kid. I'm going down there," Sora said, bringing his ship down to the ground. He unlocked his seatbelt while his cockpit opened, allowing him to stand up.
"Got it and Sora…be careful," Raven answered.
"I will. I just hope he's alright," Sora said jumping out. Meanwhile, the Heartless stepped away from the unconscious Kid Devil as a new smell came to its nostrils but it smelled familiar, like something that it hunted before. It let out a roar and ran back into the woods to hunt the new prey. Meanwhile, Sora walked through the woods looking for any sign of the honorary Titan.
"Kid?! Kid Devil, its Sora! I'm here to help," Sora yelled out, though got no response. He kept walking while looking around for anything. He suddenly heard loud footsteps circle off in the distance, and he summoned his keyblade to his hand. "Who's there?" He asked, getting into his battle stance as he heard more footsteps, making the ground shake under him. He focused on the noises until he saw the Heartless charging right for him. He quickly dodged out of the way and threw his keyblade at it, nailing it right in the face. He brought his keyblade back as the dark beast spun around to face him.
"I've never met you before," Sora said. The creature growled as if in response before it took another stomp. Suddenly, a small piece of blue cloth fell free from the beast's foot and landed in front of Sora's shoe. He was about to attack until he saw the cloth and he kneeled down to pick it up.
"What is-?" Sora asked but as soon as the fabric touched his hands, his eyes widened in response.
A small baby Sora crawled around on the ground with a blue dog toy in hand as Aqua and Terra stood before Master Eraqus.
"Well done to both of you. You both have progressed in your training. But remember, every day could lead to either a step forward or a step back. You must always be prepared," Eraqus said.
"Yes Master," Aqua and Terra answered, bowing. Suddenly, Aqua felt something tug on her side cloths and she looked down to a sight that made her smile: Sora sitting next to her feet and tugging on her cloths.
"Ma!" Sora said with a toothy smile.
"Sora…," Aqua replied, reaching down for him.
Sora took a breath as he grasped the cloth in hand before turning his sight back to the creature that was still skulking around him.
"You…you…attacked her?!" Sora asked. The Heartless roared and spun at Sora in high speeds. He quickly pocketed the cloth and created a Reflect shield around him, pushing the Heartless away. He dropped the shield and fired three Blizzard spells, hitting the Heartless in the side before turning his keyblade into claws. He sliced at the beast's face and body before turning the claws back to the keyblade and casting his Ragnarok spell right in the Heartless's face, making it pounce away. It fired multiple Mega Flares and Shadow Bombs at the keybearer, who dodged and rolled out of the way before firing multiple beams of light at the Heartless. The beams hit the Heartless as the beast let out a roar, releasing a blue, green, and red mist around it.
"What?" Sora asked. The heartless took the chance to run back into the forest as suddenly a colorful circle began to swirl around him. Sora remained cautious when suddenly an afterimage of the beast came spinning right for him, though he managed to dodge most of the lunges. He kept moving by utilizing flow motion, constantly bouncing off the trees in order to stay ahead of the beast. Eventually, the Heartless came falling to the ground and landing with a powerful shockwave, making the area shake a little and causing Sora to tumble to the ground from a tree. He quickly got back up, only for the beast to summon multiple afterimages to slash at him over and over with its claws, scratching him up. The Heartless then rushed towards him again, with the afterimages ahead of it, forcing Sora to use the keyblade to block the attacks, though the strength of the beast pushed him against a tree stump. Sora readied himself again as the beast got closer, when suddenly Kid Devil jumped from a nearby tree and kicked it away with a fire-infused kick. The Heartless landed on its back but quickly got on its feet and ran back into the forest while the honorary Titan landed in a heap in front of Sora.
"Heal!" Sora chanted. The green aura materialized above them, healing them of their injuries. Kid Devil felt his energy return and he slowly picked himself up.
"Huh…thanks. That thing's relentless. I don't know how to stop it," Kid Devil said, getting back to his feet and into his fighting stance.
"It's called a Heartless and it won't stop. My keyblade is the only thing that can defeat it," Sora replied, getting ready as well.
"Got it. I'll help where I can." Kid Devil said.
"Thanks, Kid." Sora said, when suddenly they heard the stomps of the Heartless circle them again. The two stood back-to-back (though making sure they weren't touching) as they heard stomps all around them and saw different eye colors flashing from the darkness.
"What? I thought there was just one of these things?!" Kid Devil asked.
"They're illusions! It's trying to throw us off." Sora said.
"You sure?" Kid Devil asked.
"Yeah. Be ready," Sora replied. They kept an eye out until Kid Devil picked up on the beast rushing right towards Sora, who was looking off to the side.
"Look out!" Kid Devil screamed. Sora quickly ducked as the Heartless emerged from the darkness with a fierce roar as it lunged for the keybearer with claws at the ready. The two Titans launched flames into the Heartless's belly, making it fly over them and land on its feet in front of them. Sora let out a burst of light as he entered Limit Form while Kid Devil summoned two blades into his hands. The Heartless roared and spun towards them like a buzz saw but the two rolled out of the way. Sora performed Strike Raid, hurling his keyblade multiple times while Kid Devil struck at the beast's legs. The Heartless swung its tail around, knocking Kid Devi away before firing a shadow bomb at Sora. The keybearer blocked the bomb but the explosion forced him back while Heartless used the opening to charge towards him with the afterimages in front of him again. Sora readied himself and sonic lunged through each illusion until he eventually hit the beast a few times, forcing it back. Kid Devil then came sailed past the Heartless and breathed fire right into its face, making it back away even more.
"Kid, get clear!" Sora yelled. Kid Devil teleported away as Sora jumped into the air and unleashed an aerial combo onto the Heartless before firing a huge cluster of energy bolts at the Heartless, knocking it to the ground. Just as it tried to get up, Kid Devil appeared from a portal with a huge fireball in hand lunged it right at the dark beast, creating a huge explosion. The two Titans regroup and stand ready in front of the Heartless, as it stood back up from the flames and roared at them. The three combatants stare each other down until the Heartless suddenly turns tail and runs back into the dark of the forest, disappearing from their sight. Sora and Kid Devil remain cautious as the sound of the stomps get quieter and quieter.
"Is…is it gone?" Kid Devil asked.
"Let's be sure." Sora said, raising his keyblade in the air and a bright flash of light shot out of the tip, illuminating the whole area they were standing in and saw no sign of the Heartless. "I think we're clear." Sora said, making the two smile in relief. Later, after putting out the fires in the forest, Kid Devil and Sora stood in front of Sora's ship.
"So, that…Heartless? What is it exactly?" Kid Devil asked.
"A being of darkness. They come from the darkness of a person's heart when they're consumed by it or if another Heartless steals yours. They act mainly on instinct and depending on the darkness of the person, the stronger the Heartless," Sora replied.
"Wow. That sounds intense. But…that one seemed different. Do they usually fall back like that?" Kid Devil asked.
"It usually depends on its nature. That one acted like a hunter right? So, its probably waiting to attack again," Sora guessed.
"But why come after me in the first place? There's nothing about me that would attract it, besides maybe my powers," Kid Devil asked.
"I'm not sure. Usually, it would come after me due to my keyblade…unless- "Sora said when suddenly his communicator went off. He pulled it out and flipped it open. "Sora here." He said, looking at the screen to see Ravager and the others, minus Robin.
"Are you guys alright?" Ravager asked.
"Yeah, we're both safe," Sora answered with a smile.
"Good to hear," Raven replied.
"Have you heard back from Robin yet?" Sora asked.
"Yeah. Hot Spot is fine. Robin's on his way back now," Ravager said.
"Did he find out who was behind the attacks?" Sora asked.
"It was Madame Rouge," Raven said, making Sora's eyes widen.
"Oh no," he said.
"What does that mean?" Kid Devil asked.
"I'll be back soon. Sora out," Sora said, closing his communicator. "It means the Brotherhood of Evil. They're a group of supervillains that we encountered a while ago," Sora said.
"And now they're going after us, right? You think that…thing is with them?" Kid Devil asked. Sora crossed his arms and closed his eyes in thought.
"That's what it seems like. Which means we need to be more careful now. Do you still have your communicator?" Sora asked. The red Titan nodded and pulled out his communicator from his pocket. "Good. I suggest you keep it on hand more. We all need to keep in contact with one another, in case anyone needs help," Sora said.
"Got it. Thanks again for the help, Sora." Kid Devil said, pocketing the communicator.
"Anytime, Kid," Sora replied, freezing his hand and holding it out for a handshake, to which Kid Devil returned as smoke and mist flew from their contact. The honorary Titan soon teleported away as Sora entered his ship and flew away.
(Meanwhile, in the Brotherhood of Evil Base)
Maleficent and Pete were crowded around her staff as the glow died out from her orb while Monsieur Mallah and The Brain finished their game.
"Argh, that key brat always has to get in the way! That red kid would've been mincemeat if he didn't get involved," Pete yelled.
"Calm yourself Pete. The Heartless wasn't supposed to engage in the first place but that boy's senses seem to be enhanced. For now, it shall return to its original purpose. We must remain patient until then," Maleficent said. Suddenly, they heard the sound of high heels enter the room and the occupants turned to see Madame Rouge walk in, while dragging an unconscious Hot Spot behind her.
"Well done Madame Rouge. And the communicator?" The Brain asked. She pulled it out of her pocket and outstretched her arm to place it next to the chess board.
"A gift from Robin. As you requested," Madame Rouge replied, taking Hot Spot away.
"Excellent. Now we can continue with our plan," Mallah answered.
"Indeed. Maleficent, I believe more Heartless are in demand," The Brain said.
"As you wish," The witch answered, raising her staff in the air. Suddenly, several Heartless appeared in the base, soon creating a small army.
"Even with the keyblade wielder, the Titans will fall, and evil will rule what is left of the world. With this day won, victory in the future will be achieved," The Brain said as the Heartless formed up in front of the leaders of the Brotherhood.
(Meanwhile, with Sora)
Sora was flying his ship over the ocean again to meet up with the Titans again before pressing a button, putting the vessel on autopilot. He let out a breath as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the blue cloth. He ran his finger over the soft fabric as he tried to remember more of his past.
"I don't get it. Why can't I remember more of you and my father? What happened to me?" Sora asked, holding it close to his heart. Suddenly, he heard a faint voice singing in his heart:
My Dearly Beloved
Be strong, I shall be there
Always here beside you
So, keep your head held high
The shadows of this world
Will try to steal you away into their arms
But you belong in mine
He suddenly felt fresh tears running from his eyes as he pulled his hand away and looked down at the blue cloth. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the picture that was in his necklace.
"Your always with me, huh? Hopefully, one day…I'll find you," Sora promised to himself as his ship fly off over the sea.
And that is the end of this chapter! I hope you all enjoyed it as March comes to an end. Just to clarify a few things: The Heartless; the Dark Hide, is the same Heartless that Aqua fights in the Realm of Darkness in KH Birth by Sleep Final Mix, hence why it goes after Sora most of the time and confuses him as her. And Maleficent and the Brotherhood are using it to hunt down other young superheroes. Okay, with that said, HAPPY 20th ANNIVERSERY KINGDOM HEARTS! WOOOWWWW! Man, I remember when I first watched my brothers play Kingdom Hearts when it came out and I couldn't wait to play it and seeing how much it has grown is such an honor. Now, onto the reviews:
JokerGames1999: No, I do not know The Dragon Prince.
Darkmaster1000000: Glad you enjoyed it.
XenoBlaze: Glad you enjoyed the chapter my friend. Yeah, if anyone would work with the Brotherhood outside of the Organization, it would be those two. As for how I handle the Titans will be captured, you'll have to wait and see. As for the racing episode, I'll be skipping it since its just a filler episode.
Althea Sirius: They sure are, whatever happens, you know they'll hear about it in some way. Yeah, that's probably the only way for the Justice League to show up. But either way, I still don't plan to include them.
NinjaFang1331: Thank you my friend. Glad you enjoyed it.
3bodyjaa: Thanks, hope you like this chapter.
Guest1: Wouldn't want to spoil anything about the last episode, so you'll have to wait and see.
Khy Dragong: Yeah but it's the Darkseid vs Thanos thing all over again. Goku Black kinda needed that ring to be a paradox, whereas Reverse Flash is a paradox personified.
Avg98: Thanks, glad you like it. And yes, this story will be doing the events of Kingdom Hearts 3.
Karsap: Thanks, glad you liked the story. No, I haven't but I was so excited to see Sora in Super Smash Bros. I'll have to try it out soon.
Once again, thank you all for reading this story. If it weren't for you guys, I don't think I would've kept up with this one, but I'm glad I have. If you guys enjoyed this chapter and wish to see more, please favor and follow to stay updated. If you have any ideas or opinions to share please leave a review or PM me at any time and I'll answer whenever I can. I hope you all are staying safe during these times as April comes around and Summer gets closer. Until the next chapter, Peace out everyone!
