Chapter 55: Snowblind
(In the middle of the Pacific)
The T-Ship hovered over the ocean as the team members typed on their computers. So far, in their battles against the Brotherhood of Evil, they've been almost all over the world dealing with any situations involving them or any new young superhero sighting.
"Anything?" Robin asked from his cockpit.
"Nothing in the south." Sora said.
"Nor in the east." Starfire said.
"I got nothing in the west." Cyborg said.
"Ugh, I'm so bored." Beast Boy spoke up, relaxing on his seat.
"We know." They all answered
"Wait, there's something going on in Russia. Looks like a distress call." Rose spoke up as everyone accessed their computers to see a blip emanating from said country.
"I wonder what's going on there?" Sora said.
"Let's find out!" Robin replied, taking control of the ship and flying away from the sea.
(Later, near a Russian city)
The T-Ship landed outside the cityscape of a destroyed town while a storm raged above them. The Titans, except for two, were dressed in winter clothes: Robin wore a hooded tunic/coat with long green sleeves and thick black gloves; Ravager wore a large hooded coat that went down to her knees, thick gloves, and a scarf wrapped around her neck; Cyborg is wearing a blue heavy coat, scarf and cap; Beast Boy was in a padded, zippered coat with a hood, and snow goggles; Raven wore a blue fur cloak, boots, gloves, jacket, and black thermal leggings to complete it.
The only two who weren't wearing winter clothes were Sora and Starfire and the only one regretting that decision was the spiky-haired keyblade wielder as he shivered from the weather. Thankfully, he wasn't the only one shivering since Beast Boy was also chattering from the cold. The team stood together on a small hill that overlooked the destroyed city.
"We are too late." Starfire said.
"But not too late to stop whatever did this." Ravager replied.
"Fan out. We need to find someone who can tell us what happened." Robin said, walking ahead of them with Sora and Beast Boy trailing behind them, still shivering.
"Can't we do that from inside the T-Ship, where its warm?" Beast Boy asked before turning into a polar bear.
"Sometimes I really regret being an island boy." Sora said, hugging himself to keep warm. The team enter the destroyed town and begin looking around for any signs of life. Raven landed in front of a small igloo, made by two snowy overhangs, and peeked in to see movement inside.
"Over here!" Raven called out. The rest of the team gathered around the entrance as Robin slowly walked in, carefully to not spook the family.
"It's safe now. You can come out." Robin said but the group backed away still.
"In this forsaken place, it is never safe." A voice said behind them, and they turned to see an old man standing above them on a slope. He wore an old military outfit, an overcoat, a fur hat, and a black eyepatch over one of his eyes. "Forgive them. We are wary of strangers." The man continued.
"Who did all of this?" Ravager asked as the man slid down the slope and stopped in front of them.
"I dare not speak his name. He was once one of us, but now an abomination. When he returns, it is only to cause more suffering." The man explained as the family emerged from their shelter. The youngest son walks up to the Titans and stares at Starfire in frightened curiosity, making her look away while one of the adults cover his eyes.
"She's not from around here." Raven remarked to the man as Starfire smiled with a sheepish grin. Then one of the elders walked up to the team, holding a bundle of fur coats and hats to Sora and Starfire.
"Take, or you catch cold." The elder said. Sora takes the fur coat and wraps it around his body while Starfire takes the hat and places it over her head.
"Thank you." Sora said, taking a breath in some warmth.
"We will find the one who does this. He will be stopped." Starfire said, placing her hands on the woman's shoulders as a show of comfort when suddenly a distant rumbling catches everyone's attention and they all look out in the distance to see a bright white light with tinted red edges growing larger. The citizens back away in fear at the sight while the old man looks out towards the light.
"He returns." He said, solemnly.
"Not if we get to him first. Titans! Let's move!" Robin ordered as they all ran back to the T-Ship and board it, quickly taking off into the heavy snowfall. As they flew over the landscape, Beast Boy borrowed Starfire's hat in order to fight off the cold.
"Any sign of…whatever that was?" Sora asked.
"Nothing. The storm's really throwing off the sensors." Ravager said. Suddenly, a gale of wind set the ship off balance, knocking everyone around.
"Can't see anything. Switching to instruments only!" Cyborg said, switching to manual control.
"Just go easy! We have to find this outcast!" Robin warned, as the T-Ship struggled against the intense weather. Suddenly, a red beam of energy shot out from the tree line and hit the portside.
"Woah! What was that?!" Ravager yelled out as the T-Ship fell quickly to the snow and crashed landed into the snow, knocking almost all of the members into their panels and harness straps.
"Is everyone okay?" Sora asked.
"Just fine dude." Beast Boy croaked out, lowering his head to avoid a migraine.
"Everyone! Outside!" Robin yelled out over the radio as they all climb out, though Beast Boy took a little longer due to having to deal with the cold. Everyone soon piled out into the snow, though Beast Boy took longer due to missing the warmth of his cockpit and turned into a polar bear again, and they look out into the forest before them to see a glowing humanoid figure hidden in the branches.
"What is that?" Sora asked, through the blizzard. Suddenly, the figure shot out a big red beam from its chest right in front of them, sending Robin flying and the rest of the team scattered. Starfire went to catch Robin while Sora, Raven, and Cyborg fired beams of light, darkness and sonic energy at it, sending a bunch of snow and smoke to fall around it.
"Did…did we get it?" Sora asked, lowering the keyblade.
"We must have!" Cyborg said, dismissing his blade. Suddenly, another red blast shoots out from the smoke and nails him in the chest, sending him sliding across the snow.
"Wanna take that back?" Raven called out as she and Sora helped him up. Robin and Ravager ran past them and threw several discs and knives that blew up around the figure, knocking some trees down and making the creature step out from the forest. The team regrouped as Cyborg took aim again until he noticed something.
"Something is messing up my sensors! I can't get a lock on it!" He called out.
"Well, what should we do?" Ravager asked. In response, Raven closed her eyes and conjured a black ball in her hands.
"Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" She chanted as the ball grew into a giant sphere covering the team, the ship, and a small area around them. At first, the team could see nothing until Sora created a ball of light in his hand, illuminating the shield. Beast Boy turns back into a human and rubs his hands in the new warmth granted by the sphere.
"You know, you could've done this when we landed." Beast Boy replied. Sora panned the light around the enclosure for any sign of the figure.
"Nothing. Where did he go?" Sora asked until the light hit the damaged T-Ship.
"Aw, no! I just fixed that engine!" Cyborg yelled out in anger.
"He's not here. Nice try, Raven." Robin said.
"Don't be so sure." Raven said, still concentrating on the shield and everyone looks to see a small flicker of red at the far corner of it. The red soon begins to grow and expand across the sphere as cracks begin to form on the inside. The strain soon becomes too much for the conjurer as a red flash knocks Raven to the ground, though Sora is there to catch her. The figure continues to send more energy into the sphere as it explodes, scattering everyone across the snow. The team stood up and continued to engage the figure from the distance while dodging its beams and lasers until Cyborg checked an alert on his forearm panel.
"Guys! We can't touch that thing!" Cyborg called.
"We'll just have to keep trying! We need to surround it!" Robin said.
"No! Robin, we really can't touch it! I'm picking up radiation levels that are off the scale!" Cyborg explained.
"What should we do?" Sora asked. The figure suddenly shot another beam at Robin and Cyborg when suddenly, Starfire lands in front of them and blocks the beam with her starbolts. The beam dissipates as smoke rises from her burning palms.
"Radiation cannot harm me." Starfire said. In response, the figure retreated into the dark forest and Starfire quickly flew after it.
"Starfire! Wait!" Everyone called out but they soon lost sight of her in the blizzard. Robin was about to sprint in after her until the cold wind pushed him back.
"Robin, it's not safe!" Ravager said, running up to him. Robin narrowed his eyes towards the forest for any sign of her but saw nothing. The two turned around and regrouped with the others under the T-Ship for shelter.
"Anything?" Sora asked.
"Nothing. We lost her." Ravager replied, making everyone look down.
"Well, maybe she'll come back and then we can all wait out this storm in the comfy ship huh? Anyone?" Beast Boy suggested, hoping into his cockpit.
"I'm going after her." Robin said.
"Nyah." Beast Boy groaned, as he jumped out again.
"You can't survive out there." Raven spoke up.
"She's right, Robin. The temperature's dropping fast. We have to find some shelter." Cyborg said.
"She's lost. She needs our help." Robin argued.
"I know." Cyborg replied, quietly as they stared out into the forest, concerned about their friend.
"She'll be fine, Robin. We know she will." Sora said. Robin didn't reply as he looked on in worry.
(Later)
Some time passed as the snow continued to fall to the point where the ship was almost buried in it and the only part sticking out was the damaged port engine. Suddenly, a mound of snow was blown off the ship as Beast Boy, as a polar bear, walked out with the others behind him.
"She'll be fine, Robin." Raven said.
"That doesn't mean I can't worry." Robin replied. Cyborg opened his forearm panel and started typing away.
"Did you find her?" Ravager asked.
"No, but I found something else." He replied.
"What is it?" Sora asked as the rest of the team crowded around.
"I'm picking up a massive radiation source. Might be why we can't locate her communicator." Cyborg proposed.
"Take us there." Robin ordered. Cyborg nodded and started walking towards the forest with the others, though Beast Boy lingered behind as he turned back into a human.
"Uh, guys, aren't you forgetting something? Our warm, comfy ship?" Beast Boy remined them.
"Our warm, comfy ship has a fried electrical system and a missing engine." Cyborg said.
"Sorry, BB. But we don't have time to fix it now. Come on." Ravager said.
"Alright, alright. But I tell ya, I'm going to freeze my tail off." Beast Boy said, turning into a fox.
"I think I have a way to keep us safe from the storm." Sora said, summoning his keyblade and creating a ring of fire around the team, passing by them harmlessly as they took a breath due to the sudden warmness. "I don't know how long I can hold this though." Sora explained. Raven chanted her spell while placing a hand on Sora's shoulder as her magic spread across the flames.
"This should keep it going." Raven said.
"Just the trick, Rae." Sora said, as they shared a smile.
"Lead the way, Cy." Ravager said. Cyborg nodded and took the lead as they walked into the forests, the snow melting around them as they walked. They soon reach a small lagoon that was filled with green liquid instead of clear blue water.
"Whoa, what is this stuff?" Sora asked.
"It's the same isotopic signature I got from that thing that attacked us." Cyborg said, typing on his forearm again.
"Radiation." Ravager concluded.
"So, this is where it came from." Raven said.
"If it did, then that's only part of the puzzle. Look." Robin said, pointing across the pool to a small channel on a slope that fed into it, it being the main source of the green liquid.
"Surprising that no one found this yet." Beast Boy said when suddenly a shadow of a cloud floated over them.
"We better hurry. Another storm is moving in." Cyborg said. They started walking through the woods again, though none of them seem to notice the green liquid started to bubble and boil as something began to form together. The team passed by several trees as several shapes darted through the snow. They kept walking until Beast Boy stopped in place.
"What is it, BB?" Cyborg asked.
"Something's surrounding us." Beast Boy said. Everyone formed up around Sora and Raven with weapons at the ready. Suddenly, small creatures that looked like the figure from before circled around them as white and red radiation flowed off them.
"They have the same signature as that thing. Be careful guys." Cyborg said. They all engaged the creatures, using their projectiles to destroy them, while Raven and Beast Boy stood next to Sora to cover him. Robin and Ravager threw multiple discs and knives while Cyborg turned his keyblade into a turret and unloaded multiple energy bullets into the small figures. The fire also seemed to help as it kept them all at bay, allowing the Titans to easily destroy them, though instead of exploding in radiation, they disappeared in a burst of darkness.
"What were those things?" Ravager asked.
"Maybe they were the baby brothers or something?" Beast Boy asked.
"Looks like they came from those pools back there." Cyborg said.
"But did you see the darkness when they were destroyed?" Raven said.
"Something else is behind this." Sora replied, worried.
"And if there's more of those things, then we need to find Starfire quickly." Robin said.
"We better hurry. I don't think I can hold this fire any longer." Sora said, starting to struggle. The team nodded in agreement as they all walked further into the forest, hoping for any sign of shelter. Even with Raven's magic, Sora's energy started to falter as the flames flickered in and out.
"Oh, and I was just getting used to the heat." Beast Boy said, turning into a walrus.
"Sorry, Beast Boy." Sora said as the flames died out.
"Look there!" Ravager suddenly said, pointing towards a nearby complex of buildings.
"You think she made it this far?" Sora asked.
"Hopefully. We better check it out." Robin said, approaching the building with the others when suddenly an alarm went off outside, freaking them out.
"Uh, did someone step on something?" Cyborg asked and everyone shook their heads no. They slowly approached the small door hoping for any response from inside.
"I wonder if anyone's home." Raven said. Robin raised his hand, about to knock when suddenly the door slid open, revealing two silhouettes, obscured by light from within. When their eyes adjusted; they saw that one silhouette was a young man dressed in a green uniform coat emblazoned with a red star withing a white circle, a black helmet with green fur, yellow goggles, and black gloves. And the other silhouette was…
"Starfire!" Robin said happily, while said Titan let out a happy gasp and embraced the team in a huge hug.
"My friends! How happy I am to see you!" Starfire replied.
"Ever think about a doorbell?" Raven lightly suggested as everyone walked in, while Beast Boy turned back into a human.
"We're so glad to see you safe, Star." Sora said.
"Who is this?" Ravager asked, referencing towards the man.
"Oh friends, this Red Star. He saved me from the storm." Starfire said.
"It is an honor to meet you all and I welcome you to my home." Red Star said.
"I'm Robin; that's Sora, Ravager, Beast Boy, Raven, and Cyborg. We're the Teen Titans." Robin said. They all waved and/or nodded to Red Star, who returned the gestures with a nod of his own.
"Please, you must all be famished from your walk." Red Star said, gesturing to the kitchen. Everyone happily and quickly ran into the chairs, ready to eat. Red Star cooked for a little bit before bringing a tray with several bowls on it.
"This is great! I'm so hungry, I could eat a- huh?" Cyborg exclaimed until he saw what was in the bowls: it was soup filled with barley, several vegetables, potatoes, and cabbage with warm steam flowing from the soup. It was known as pokhlebka. Everyone, besides Starfire, who ingested it happily, looked at it strangely. "Maybe just a glass of water and a toothpick." Cyborg said, sheepishly. Sora stared at the bowl in curiosity before picking up his spoon and took a small sip. He kept it in his mouth for a little before swallowing and let out a pleased sound as he took another sip.
"Had it not been for Red Star- "Starfire said but was interrupted by said man.
"-She would have been fine. Her people are most resilient." Red Star replied.
"Your village thinks you've been attacking it. Why?" Robin asked.
"You must understand how I came to be. The life I had before was a difficult one but suited me well. I was chosen to be part of an experiment. The security force wished to create the perfect soldier. They had much hope for me. And at first, it seemed successful. There was, however, an unexpected side effect. This power inside me…a power I could not contain. I have been here ever since. Memories have long lives. My people have not forgotten." Red Star revealed. They all shared looks of understanding to that statement.
"You must get lonely here by yourself." Beast Boy replied.
"It is a small price to pay. Come. There is something I wish you to see." Red Star said, leading them out of the kitchen. They all get up from the table and follow him to a door, which he opens to reveal a storage room filled with hundreds of glowing canisters, all stacked in shelves and some lying on the floor. Everyone stared into the room in shock at all the canisters.
"Every day, I must shed my power. Here, it is saved." Red Star said.
"Wow!" Sora said, amazed.
"This is…your power?" Ravager asked and was answered with a nod.
"You could light an entire city with all of this." Cyborg replied.
"And yet, they would never accept." Red Star said, solemnly.
"You must use your ability to help people. We will assist you. There is no need to hide any longer." Starfire said, floating up to him.
"It is a good wish, but…here, I am contained. As long as I am in this place…the world is safe from me." Red Star said, as the team, sans Starfire, share a look.
"Red Star, there's something you should know." Robin said when suddenly the alarm went off again.
"That would be the doorbell." Red Star said to Raven. Suddenly, an explosion erupted from the storage room, knocking over multiple shelves and creating a bunch of smoke and haze. The smoke clears to reveal a giant humanoid creature: it had four red eyes, veins all over its white, glowing body, and random black patches as well.
"Titans! Go!" Robin ordered as they all charged except for Red Star.
"Just nobody touch it!" Cyborg reminded everyone as he fired a blast from his cannon at the creature's gut, punching a hole clean through it but it quickly closes up. The creature roars in anger before shooting a beam from its eyes in retaliation, knocking Cyborg off his feet. Ravager and Starfire land next to it and unleash starbolts and electric bolts from her staff. Though they do nothing to the creature as it leaps towards them. But just before it lands, Raven brings down a piece of debris on the monster, pinning it to the ground with a slam while Sora tried to contain it with a reflect shield. The creature roared and slammed on the shield and shooting at it with its beams. Sora struggled to hold the spell while Raven used her keyblade to strengthen the shield. But it was all for not as the creature's radiation broke through the shields, making the two back away.
The creature stood back up to its feet but was once again assaulted by Sora and Raven's projectiles, from magic spells to pieces of rubble, hitting the monster's chest, pushing it back. Suddenly, Robin went for a flying kick, but Cyborg managed to pull him down.
"You want to end up like that?" Cyborg asked, pointing at the now red-hot pieces of rubble Raven threw.
"We have to do something!" Robin said. Starfire flew back to Red Star, who still hasn't moved.
"Red Star, please! You must help us!" She spoke. Sora, Raven, and Ravager were pushed back from the creature's beams, leaving Beast Boy to stand in front of the creature, though he really couldn't do much due to the creature's radiation.
"Beast Boy, look out!" Sora called out, gliding over to save his teammate. But luckily, Red Star beat him to the punch as he stood in between the changeling and the creature.
"You will not harm my friends!" Red Star yelled out as he unleashed several blows into the creature's gut along with several kicks to the head, making it fall to the ground in a crash. Red Star leaps into the air and brings his boots down to the creature's midsection before grabbing its arm and throwing it over his head like it was nothing, making the Titans watch in shocked astonishment.
"So, what part of 'perfect soldier' did they get wrong?" Raven asked.
"I think they nailed it on the head if you ask me." Ravager replied, impressed by the show of strength.
"I wonder how strong he really is." Sora wondered out loud. Meanwhile, Red Star throws the creature into another wall and gets ready to throw another punch until his whole body seizes up and he lets out a scream as his body flashes red. The team stares in shock as Red Star backs away, still glowing.
"I cannot continue!" He yelled as he ran out of the storage room. A light soon flashes from another room while accompanied by Red Star's pained screams, making everyone look towards the light in worry. What no one noticed was that the creature crawled towards the filled canisters and placed its hands over them. Soon the whole-body collapses over the canisters as a mass of protoplasm that absorbs all of them into its body. It soon began to rise again, soon towering over everyone as Sora turned to look at it.
"Uh, guys?" Sora said, slowly backing away. Everyone turned and followed his gaze as the shadow grew larger.
"This won't turn out good." Cyborg said. The creature stood taller now as the canisters popped out all over its body. The Titans readied themselves again, but the creature ignored them and marched past them, breaking down another wall as it stomped into the snowstorm. The Titans watch it leave as Red Star wearily walks in, leaning against the wall for support.
"Now you understand? I cannot control what is inside me. Here, I am contained." Red Star said, no longer glowing red.
"But you're not." Robin revealed, making the solider look at him in confusion.
"We have to show you something." Ravager said, walking out into the storm with the others, while Starfire helped Red Star out of the room. They walked through the snow until they reached the slope where the green ooze was flowing.
"There's a leak, Red Star. That creature? It came from you." Robin revealed, surprising Red Star as he looked at the green liquid. They soon walk back into the complex and into Red Star's quarters as the solider sits on his bed.
"I was a fool to think I could have prevented this." Red Star said.
"There were microscopic cracks in the power conduit. There was no way you could've known." Cyborg revealed.
"All of my anger, all of my fear. When I release power, I free these things as well. Now it has taken form." Red Star said.
"Then you will help us to stop it." Starfire said.
"But how? I am not like you, Starfire. Mine is a power I cannot keep inside." Red Star said.
"Then do not. The greater the struggle against your power, the more it resists." Starfire said, creating a starbolt in her hand. "Embrace what you have inside. Let it become you…and you will find what you are meant to be." Starfire said, clutching her fingers as the green light glowed brighter. Red Star looked down at the ground in thought before smiling.
"I will join you." The solider said as he stood up, making everyone smile.
"Does anyone know how we're gonna chase after that thing in all this snow? Cause I can tell you right now, I'm not pulling a sled." Beast Boy said. Red Star led them through a complex and opened a garage door and turned on the light, revealing a row of top-of-the-line snowmobiles.
"Wow. You built all these?" Ravager asked.
"I have much free time." Red Star said. Beast Boy quickly jumped onto the snowmobile with lasers, but Red Star declared that one as his, making the changeling jump to another one. Everyone took their vehicles while Sora hopped onto one and turned it on while Raven climbed on.
"Mind if I ride with you?" She asked.
"Not at all." Sora said, happily, making her kiss him on the cheek. The door in front of them opened, revealing the open woods to them as they all pulled up to the front.
"You know, Red Star, even if you have to be by yourself, it doesn't mean you need to be alone. We're glad to have you as part of the team." Robin said to the solider, offering him a Titans communicator. Red Star took the communicator, making everyone smile and Starfire giggle happily.
"We will be victorious. This I know." Red Star said as his vehicle took off; soon being followed by Robin, Sora and Raven, Ravager, Starfire who flew, and Cyborg. Beast Boy lagged a little until his engine suddenly activated, sending him flying out of the garage and catching up with the others. They soon exit out of the forest and continue towards the city, where they see smoke and fire flying into the sky. They keep going at high speeds when suddenly Red Star takes a sharp turn and comes to a stop, making everyone slow down while Starfire flew down to him.
"I made a promise never to return here. I will not be welcome." Red Star said. Starfire placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"You are a good person. They will see." Starfire replied when suddenly another explosion erupted from one of the buildings. "We must go." She said, taking off into the air again. The rest of the Titans soon pull into the city as the old man from before runs up to them.
"He heads for our power plant! Please hurry! It is all we have left!" The man said, pointing towards a facility that was uphill, where the creature was lumbering towards.
"There's something you need to know. This creature, it's not who you think." Robin said, when suddenly Red Star and Starfire arrive behind the Titans. The old man turns his now angered gaze towards the solider.
"How dare you return? Have you no shame?" The man said. Red Star disembarked his vehicle and walked up to the citizens as they backed away from him.
"I come to help." Red Star proclaimed.
"Every day, I live with what you did. Look at what you have caused! You will go at once!" The man said as he and the other refugees started marching towards him, but they were blocked by Starfire who flew in between them.
"He will do no such thing! If you wish to make him go, you will answer to me!" Starfire said as her eyes glowed green. All but the old man back away at the retort. "Red Star is not the only one to blame." She reminded them as the old man looked down. The rest of the Titans drive toward the facility as Red Star gets on his.
"I am sorry to have failed you…General." Red Star said to the old man before driving to the power plant. The general quickly turned around to the apology.
"Captain Kovar!" the general called out, making Red Star stop and look back. "Do your best." He replied. Red Star nodded and zoomed off towards the plant. Meanwhile, the creature continues towards the facility when suddenly several large boulders land in front of it, blocking its path. The monster turns to see the Titans behind It and Raven floating in the air with other boulders at the ready.
"Think again." Raven said. The creature looks around again to see Red Star standing a mound of rubble with his arms crossed and a smile on his face.
"You remember me?" Red Star asked. The creature quickly raises it arm and shoots a blast from a canister. The solider jumps over the projectile and with a flying jab, knocks the monster onto its back. Red Star lands on its chest and continues to wail at it before being blasted away with a four-eyed laser beam. It gets back on its feet, only to be bombarded with all projectiles from the Titans. In response, the creature swings its arm, sending a huge wave of red energy towards them. Sora and Raven create a shield to protect them but the wave, easily tears through them, throwing everyone back. The creature then throws its fist to the ground as smaller versions of the creature form together and charge towards them. Sora casts a cure spell one everyone and they engage the small monsters while Starfire flew past them to re-engage the monster, though she is swatted to the ground with minimal effort.
She slowly rises from the snow, only to see the creature aiming at her with its arms and fires a beam at her, when suddenly Red Star leaps in front of her and blocks the beam with his own two hands.
"Starfire! Stay back!" The solider ordered.
"You need our assistance!" Starfire retorted.
"No! It is too dangerous! Get away!" Red Star exclaimed. Starfire went to assist anyway when she was suddenly blasted away by the creature's other arm, sending her backward. Red Star continues to block both beams as his body glowed red again. Starfire slowly gets up and casts a cure spell on her while Robin and Cyborg helped her up, while the others held off the small creatures. They watched from the side as the monster's body started to swell and bulge in a alarming way.
"What's going on?" Ravager asked, shooting another electric bolt at a small creature.
"That thing can't handle the power! It's gonna go critical!" Cyborg yelled out. As it swelled more, the creature redoubled the beams and overpowered Red Star, creating an explosion that launched dust and rocks all over the place. Suddenly Red Star, jumped out of the dust and latched on to one of the canisters on the monster's back and drove one of his fists deep into the creature's flesh. A flash soon erupted from the monster as more and more shafts shoot out from its body. The small creatures started doing the same thing as the creature's head inflated and erupted into a big, red explosion as darkness flew into the air. Sora and Raven created two more shields to protect everyone as the it eventually died down. They lowered the shields for everyone to see Red Star stumbling out of the smoke and fall to the snow, face first, his body still glowing red. The Titans run over to him as Starfire lands next to him as the solider got to his knees.
"Red Star! You have succeeded!" Starfire said with a smile.
"Something inside of me…it is changing. You must take me from here, far away. Do you understand what this means?" Red Star asked and Starfire nodded.
"We must go." She said, helping him up while the captain looked towards the other Titans.
"Do not worry, my friends. I have no more need to be alone." Red Star replied to everyone as the two flew off into the night sky. They kept looking until they were out of view and after a few minutes, a bright red light flickered and shined into view. Sora and Raven stared at it as they held each other's hands for comfort, while Beast Boy took off his fur hat, no longer shivering.
"Aren't you freezing?" Ravager asked.
"No. Not anymore." Beast Boy said. Soon after, Starfire came back into view and landed next to Robin.
"What-what happened to him?" Sora asked concerned.
"He released all his anger and worries." Starfire said, looking up at the new red star.
"You did a good thing, Starfire, helping him." Robin said, making her smile.
"I believe he will return our kindness…someday." Starfire replied.
"I think the only question left is…who gave the radiation form in the first place and where did that darkness come from?" Ravager asked, making everyone think about the culprit. Up on a far away hill, a pair of feet and a witch's staff turned and left through a portal of darkness.
"Another question would be…how are we gonna repair the T-ship?" Cyborg asked.
"Better question, does anyone know where we left it?" Beast Boy asked, making everyone let out a groan.
"I really don't like the cold." Sora said, as they went off in search for their missing ship.
And that is the end! Whoo and another chapter bites the dust! I apologize once again for the long wait since a lot is kind of going on in my life and whenever I have the time, I just don't feel like writing or doing anything. I hope you understand and please be patient with me, hopefully soon I can bust out more chapters for you all at a quicker pace. Now onto the reviews:
Althea Sirius: You'll see soon, my friend. I will be quite interesting.
XenoBlaze: Yeah, as much as I enjoy that episode, its mainly filler and doesn't really add anything to the overall story, besides teasing Robin's identity.
Cujo: As cool as that would be, it wouldn't fit into this story, so I will have to skip on it.
Coco Baldwin: You got it my friend. Hopefully, you enjoyed this chapter.
Guest1: I plan to skip some episodes of Season 5 while adding one O/C episode. You'll see when I release it.
Khy Dragon: We know he will. It's Sora after all.
Guest2: You'll have to see at the end of the season my friend.
Guest3: I KNOW! I'M So EXCITED for 4!
Darkpheniox343: First, thank you for reading my story and giving it a chance. This takes place after Dream Drop Distance where Sora goes off somewhere and this will lead into KH3 and then conclude with Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo. Thank you for your reviews and criticisms.
Cujo: Updated today, hope you enjoyed this chapter.
Thank you all once again for reading my story! Happy Mother's Day first of all and Happy Father's Day if the next chapter takes too long. If you enjoyed this chapter and want to see more, please favor and follow to stay updated for what comes next. If you have any ideas, opinions or criticisms to share, please leave a review or PM at any time. I will answer as soon as I can. I hope you all have a great day and are staying safe during these times, and I will see you all later. Peace, everybody!
