Chapter Seven

The unground sewer pipe the siblings crawled through was tight and cold by the amount of rainwater that settled in between the small slots of the pipe which by the time the three exited on the other end, all three of their knees and hands were soaked and cold by the stagnant rain water. A large iron grate was the only thing separating the siblings and Jo who they could barely hear on the other side. Christina, who had been asked to have the rifles since she was a bit smaller then her two brothers, quickly handed a rifle to her brothers while she took her place at the door. She watched as her brothers got their rifles up and ready to fire when she opened the door. The door itself seemed to be a bit of a problem, as Christina struggled to open it, but the well oiled hinges made it possible for easier maneuverability and it was silent which gave the Winchester boys a slight edge in surprise.

"Shhh!" Came a hoarse whisper before Dean could see a figure of a man with dirty clothes and a rather unkept look.

"Hey!" Dean screamed making the man turn around and was quickly blasted in the chest with two rounds of salt rounded bullets fired at the same time by Sam and Dean. After the man vanished from sight all three Winchesters rushed in to see to see if there were any other survivors. "Jo, you okay in there?"

"Yeah I'm here." Jo's voice seemed tired as a hand slowly poked out through a small opening of a metal door. "Thank god you guys are here!"

Dean grabbed hold of the handle and pulled it open. He couldn't help but smile when seeing her alive as he helped her out of her small cubby and turned to see is brother and sister opening up the other three small doors and he watched as Sam opened and quickly closed an empty cubby. He watched as Christina opened and reached in carefully pulling back on something.

"Sam, I need some help." Christina said struggling to pull out a woman who looked sick. Sam helped pull the woman and hold her up keeping her upright. "She's alive but she needs medical help pronto."

"Go help her out of here." Dean said helping Jo out of her own little cubby.

Sam nodded and helped Christina with the woman, Tessa, out of the room. "Tessa, we need you to crawl through here." Sam said pointing to the large pipe he and his siblings had climbed through earlier.

"I...I don't think I can." Tessa said weakly struggling to stay on her feet.

"I know you can," Christina said gently touching the girl's shoulder and looking straight in her eyes. "My brother and I will be with you the entire time and once we get out we'll you to the hospital and to your boyfriend." Tessa nodded and Christina smiled. "Okay I'll go first and you'll follow me. My brother will take up the rear to make sure nobody follows us okay?" Again Tessa nodded and followed Christina after she disappeared into the pipe.

Sam wasn't at all surprised that Tessa, though reluctantly, followed Christina who went through first and Sam stood and waited for his turn to go through. He always knew Christina was someone who could mostly persuade people into doing things when they thought they couldn't do it. He was happy to have her able to persuade Tessa into leaving without them having to drag her. Even though he wouldn't mind either way as then she would be safe. But it was easier for Tessa to leave her on her will.

"Tessa, if you need my help I will help you up these bars." Christina said as they were standing at the bottom of the steps and Tessa looking unsure about herself.

"I...I think I can do it. Thanks." Tessa said and Christina slowly climbed up the few bars making sure to stop to double check with she was still stable with Sam at the bottom looking up and getting ready to catch her in case she fell. After a few more minutes Tessa, Christina and Sam all walked back towards the apartments. "What...what would people say?"

"Get out of her and just tell police you were taken by a deranged man. That he escaped and didn't get a good look as he kept a hood over your head." Christina said the lie spilling easily out of her mouth as this was part of their jobs. "Don't mention us as police will tend to think we kidnapped you."

"Thank you." Tessa said with a weak smile both Winchesters could see she looked a bit better then when they first found her. They figured it was because of the dim light that they thought she was in worst shape then she was.

As soon as Tessa disappeared around the corner, Sam turned to see his sister rubbing her shoulders and looking a little pale. "You okay?"

"Yeah. Sorry, I don't know what what going on. But my shoulders hurt. Sorry I'll just shake it off. I'll be okay."

"Okay..." Sam said unsure how to react to her statement and shook his head. "Anyways, Dean wants us to grab a tarp, rope and more salt. He wants to trap this ghost once and for all."

"Okay, then let's go." Christina said walking in the direction of the Impala.

Jo sat in the middle of her prison when she was just released for nearly four hours earlier. Her breathing was ragged as she fought to keep herself calm as she heard the soft pats of feet hitting the ground. She trembled and closed her eyes to keep herself from bolting before it was time to.

Holmes's ghost reached a hand towards Jo the look of excitement burning in his eyes, even though it was dark in that room. Holmes's face split in an animalistic smile as he reached closer to Jo staring intently at her hair.

"Now!" Dean bellowed making Jo quickly jump and roll away from Holmes making him scream in frustration. Dean and Sam had been waiting in the dark shadows while their sister stood outside of the doorway to help Jo to her feet. After Jo managed to roll out of the room Dean and Sam shot towards the ceiling where a tarp had been constructed to spill salt in a perfect circle.

Holmes let out a crazed scream while the brothers left the room and Christina, with the help of Jo slammed the large metal door shut before locking it. Holmes's scream dying into muffled yells as the four of them crawled out of the pipe and up the ladder onto the field.

"You guys stay here." Dean said as they all looked around confused as to what was going on. "I'll be right back."

Jo sunk to the ground catching her breath trying to calm down her beating heart. "That was... exhilarating!" Jo said before laughing as she watched around looking for Dean to come back from who knew where. "Is this how ending a case feels?"

"If things work out well." Christina said sitting down on the hatch and periodically glancing down inside the hatch they were once in. She could barley hear the harsh screams of Holmes and she let out a sigh. "At least this ghost won't be kidnapping any other women after this."

"But what happens when it rains?" Jo asked suddenly aware of the dangers of water and salt. "We'll just have to come back then won't we?"

"I think Dean has an idea of how to keep our ghost friend at bay for that exact reason." Sam said with a grin and both girls saw a large cement truck slowly backing up until Sam signaled Dean to stop and lowered the shoot for the wet cement. "Girls, our solution."

"He stole a cement truck?" Jo asked surprised and amazed at how Dean had the supplies for the cement as well.

"We're only borrowing it." Dean said with a grin. "Swiped it off of a construction site just a few blocks away. Guys left the keys in the car and it was in part of town where nobody was, so no witnesses." As the wet cement slowly began to fill up the hole all four hunters noticed the screams soon disappeared and once the cement reached the top of the hole, the lid was closed on top so when it dried it would make sure the latch would not be able to open back up again.

After the cement truck was returned shortly after, the four adults knew they needed to get to the airport as Ellen had once again called Dean but didn't seem to have forgiven him on letting her daughter get kidnapped even though she was happy to see that Jo was with them. Christina was the one to meet with Ellen at the airport as she was the only one Ellen wasn't angry at. But even though she wasn't angry at her Ellen still made Christina feel rather uncomfortable with the silent treatment that happened when they reached the Impala.

Sam was forced to ride in the middle between Jo and Christina while Dean was only a few inches from a rather angry Ellen. Christina and Jo silently looked at each other both remembering their own experiences with an angry Ellen when Christina had lived with them for a few months.

Dean nervously looked around and saw how the silence was affecting everyone and reached to turn on the radio needing just a little bit of music to break the silence.

"You're as cold as ice," the familiar started as if the Impala was trying to break the silence itself. "You're willing to sacrifice..."

Ellen reached over and turned off the radio despite Dean's unwritten rule over nobody touches the radio the driver picked. Ellen's cold stare made everyone sit up and was scared to even make any kind of noise and had Dean retracting his hand in an attempt to turn the radio back on. All five adults knew these next several hours would be hell but to prove that they were in trouble, to Ellen it was worth it.

The Impala slowed to a stop just outside the roadhouse the next day, and the most welcoming sound in that car was the soft tweets of birds. Before the car stopped Ellen had the passenger door opened and was storming towards the Roadhouse. When the rest of the occupants climbed out Ellen spun around and glared at Jo. "Get inside now." She snarled softly before staring at the other three. "Now, Christy I have nothing against you. But you two boys... Stay away from my daughter."

"Ellen, nobody could have predicted that things would have gone south." Christina said taking a step in front of her brothers. "I'm sure even if they planned everything Jo still might have been-"

Ellen reacted and sent an opened palm across Christina's face stunning all three Winchesters. "You have no idea the pain I get when I hear a Winchester say they have everything planned out." Ellen spun around and stormed into the Roadhouse leaving the three Winchesters to stay there confused.

"Are you okay?" Dean asked seeing that his sister hadn't moved or said anything since she got slapped. After a few minutes she silently nodded and walked a few feet away from them making him frown with concern but didn't follow.

Once Christina was no longer facing her brothers, she allowed tears to slowly fall from her eyes. Even though she had a lot worse happen to her, the fact she had someone who she looked up to as a mother slapped her. Taking several slow breaths, she turned around when she heard the door to the Roadhouse open and slam shut. She watched as Jo stomped towards them before she took a sharp turn away from them before stopping when Dean grabbed her arm.

"Hey, what happened in there?" Dean asked, seeing as Jo pulled away from Dean's grip.

"My mom just told me what happened to my dad. My dad was killed by someone he trusted." Jo's voice trembled as fought to keep her own emotions in. "Funny the man my father trusted usually hunted by himself."

"What are you saying?" Dean asked, having a feeling he wasn't going to like what she was going to say.

"My father was killed because of your father." Jo looked at the remaining two siblings before taking a few steps backwards, wanting to get away from them. "Just stay away from us. So go. Go now." With that, she turned away and walked off in a direction, moving past the Roadhouse and away from them.

Dean couldn't believe what she had said but didn't try and go after Jo or head inside the Roadhouse. He turned and silently climbed into the impala his siblings quietly sliding into their own seats before they drove off in silence.
