Chapter 6: The Lighting of the Candle
The next morning, Beacon Gym, 13th September 18 BBY, 8:30 am…
With a grunt of exertion, Nathan pulled himself up to the bar, exhaling a breath to refill his lungs with oxygen, lowering himself down after a few seconds.
Once again, Nathan pulled himself up, and with a final exerted grunt, Nathan lowered himself back down to the floor, exhaling a deep breath upon finishing his final set of pull-ups. Using the Force to call his water to his hand, Nathan took a long, hard drink from it.
"Nate!"
Nathan nearly choked in surprise at the sound of Sun's voice, turning to face the monkey faunus. "Hey, Sun." He said, gripping Sun's forearm. "What brings you here?"
"Well… to work out, and since you're here… Neptune told me about your conversation yesterday." Sun replied.
Nathan rolled his eyes. "And let me guess; he was too much of a pussy to confront me about it himself, and so he sent you on his behalf." He said, folding his arms.
"No, no; not at all." Sun said. "Neptune just told me to tell you he realises you're just looking out for Weiss. And that he understands what you were trying to tell him loud and clear."
Nathan nodded, feeling some relief that if Neptune did pursue Weiss, it wouldn't be to earn a particularly nice notch on his belt.
But now it meant that Neptune's chances of getting with Weiss were increasing, since he now planned to actually go after Weiss.
Making Nathan's chances feel all the more slim, despite all the encouragement he'd received from Pyrrha and General Ironwood the previous evening.
Regardless, Nathan looked to Sun. "Thanks for letting me know, Sun." He said. "Enjoy your workout."
"You're welcome, dude." Sun replied, sharing a fist bump with Nathan before walking further into the gym in order to commence his workout.
Nathan watched Sun walk, then took a deep, sad breath, sitting down on a nearby bench, wiping his face with a towel.
With Neptune now lining Weiss up in his crosshairs, Nathan needed to get a move on and do the same.
Team JNNPR's dorm…
Stepping into Team JNNPR's dorm, having just avoided a giddy looking Jaune, Nathan stopped as he saw a visibly upset Pyrrha stood as Nora and Ren looked on.
"Everything okay?" Nathan asked, setting down his gym attire.
"Pyrrha's told Jaune to just be honest with Weiss about how he feels." Ren replied.
"Jaune's gone off to figure something out." Nora added.
"Oh for fuck's sake…" Nathan groaned. "We went over this yesterday, Pyrrha. You've got to stop enabling Jaune, because with how he was acting yesterday, I'm starting to worry he'll resort to doing the unthinkable if Weiss rejects him again."
"Have her rejections ever stopped him from trying again?" Pyrrha asked. "He said so himself; he's head over heels for Weiss, Nathan." Choking back a sob, Pyrrha added: "I might as well not go to the dance tomorrow. I don't think I can handle seeing him with Weiss all night."
Fighting down an urge to rush after Jaune and smash something heavier over his teammate's head, Nathan said: "If she agrees to go with him, this time. Which I highly doubt, since…" Nathan sighed. "Neptune's officially going after Weiss."
Pyrrha faced Nathan, a sad look crossing her face. "I guess we both ought to avoid the dance tomorrow." She said.
"No." Nathan said firmly. "Because I'm not going to sit around idly while some blue haired fuckboy steals Weiss. And you're not going to sit here whilst Jaune tries fruitlessly to get with Weiss. We're going to the dance tomorrow, and we are shooting our shots."
Pyrrha didn't respond, looking away sadly.
"Look, Jaune will realise you like him eventually." Nathan said softly. "But you can't give up yet. Trust me, seeing Weiss with Neptune and seeing how well they gel together in some respects makes me want to give up. But I'm not giving up. Because I've faced worse odds than a blue-haired boy who couldn't be bothered to come help me and Weiss fight a giant mech piloted by Roman Torchwick."
Pyrrha giggled at that, and Nathan could see the traces of a smile beginning to form on her face.
"There you go." Nathan said, pushing the corners of Pyrrha's mouth to form a smile. "There's that smile everyone loves to see on your face."
Pyrrha nodded before she then snuggled up to Nathan, laying her head on his shoulder. "Thank you, Nathan." She said. "What would I do without a friend like you?"
"Still be a hopeless romantic, pining hopelessly after Jaune with no-one around to actually give you the push you need?" Nathan replied.
Pyrrha rolled her eyes and gave Nathan a gentle punch on the shoulder. "You're right. I still have a shot to be with Jaune. I just need to be patient with him."
"Yeah." Nathan said, reaching over and beginning to softly stroke Pyrrha's hair. "And if I recall, he did say he'd wear a dress to the dance if you failed to show up with a date."
Pyrrha snorted. "Do you really think he's actually going to go through with that?" She asked.
"I'll make sure he does." Nathan replied. "Even if it means I need to threaten him with what I call the Baseball Bat wakeup call at five in the morning."
Pyrrha giggled. "I'll lend you Miló as well for use as a baseball bat if you cannot find a conventional one."
Nathan chuckled. "You have an evil mind, Pyrrha Nikos."
"I learn from the sickest mind I know." Pyrrha replied, eyeing Nathan with a smile.
Nathan returned the smile and held Pyrrha close. He was grateful to have a friend like Pyrrha in his life.
Beacon Dance Hall, later that day…
The doors swung open as Nathan opened them with the Force, striding through to find the dance hall… empty.
The dance hall was clearly decorated for the dance the following evening, but it was apparent that some work still needed to be done.
Which was when Nathan realised he wasn't as alone in the hall as he thought:
Weiss was stood by one of the tables, looking down at something she'd laid out on it.
Nathan stayed where he was for a spell, smiling. Weiss never failed to make anything she was doing seem elegant and effortless.
It also enabled him to look at her and admire her from afar. Ever since he'd realised he'd fallen in love with her, Nathan had firmly realised:
Weiss really was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen.
Regardless, Nathan opted to approach, reaching out with the Force and lifting Weiss' ponytail up and over her head, some of the strands catching the SDC heiress in the face.
Weiss immediately spluttered and giggled as individual strands of hair tickled her face, pushing her hair back into place before her eyes fell on Nathan. "I should have known it was you." She said with a warm smile crossing her face.
Nathan chuckled. "You know any other Jedi?" Nathan asked as he joined Weiss.
"No." Weiss replied. "So what brings you here?"
"Figured I'd scope out the place before tomorrow." Nathan responded. "Where are the others?"
"Yang has gone off to try one last time to convince Blake to attend the dance, and Ruby's gone off by herself since she isn't really in the best mood." Weiss replied.
"Alright… then in that case; mind if I help?" Nathan asked.
"Of course not." Weiss responded, gesturing to the table. "Care to pick out a tablecloth?" Gesturing to what she had been looking at on the table.
Nathan walked up, folding his arms as he studied the three tablecloths Weiss had set out.
All three were varying shades of white, which could easily be misconstrued as the same colour.
"I'd go with this one." Nathan said. "It matches your hair."
"You think so?" Weiss asked, a brief flash of red colouring her cheeks.
"Yeah." Nathan replied, holding it up next to Weiss' hair.
Sure enough, the tablecloth was the exact same colour as Weiss' hair.
"Then we'll go with this one." Weiss said, taking the other two and setting them aside.
"So; what else needs moving around?" Nathan asked.
"Well; some of these sound systems still need shifting across the room." Weiss replied, gesturing to the large group of sound systems nearby.
Nathan nodded. "Where did you guys want them?" Nathan asked.
"In the far end of the hall; where the stage will be." Weiss replied.
Nathan looked, and approached the sound systems. Reaching out with the Force, Nathan concentrated, closing his eyes and opening himself up to the Force, allowing it to flow through him like a river.
Before long, the sound systems began to shift, lifting into the air as Nathan raised his hand, moving towards the rear of the room where they were soon slotted neatly behind where the stage would be, ready to be plugged in.
Opening his eyes, Nathan looked over to Weiss; whose amazed facial expression told the whole story.
"That was amazing." She said.
"The Force can be a conduit to many things." Nathan replied. "Now…" Fishing out his scroll, Nathan asked: "What do you say we plug those in and test them out?"
Weiss groaned. "Oh no…"
Not long later…
"I don't belong here, we gotta move on, dear. Escape from this afterlife, 'cause this time I'm right to move on and on, far away from here!"
Stopping the song there, Nathan disconnected his scroll from the sound systems and glanced over to Weiss. "They work!" He said, slipping his scroll back into his pocket.
"I honestly expected you to go full hardcore death metal with your choice of song." Weiss remarked. "Nora told me that's what you did when you pranked her in the shower a couple of weeks ago."
Nathan snorted. "First of all; Nora was asking for it by singing her overly poppy girlish music. Second; I know you're not the biggest fan of the heavier stuff so I decided with a song I know you actually enjoy."
Weiss smiled appreciatively and said: "Thank you, Nathan." Looking towards the chairs, Weiss added: "Those chairs need setting up on the sides of the hall. In case anyone wants to take a seat."
Nathan nodded, and started moving towards the seats, beginning to pick them up and move them into position.
Weiss joined him, and before long; she said: "You know; it has recently occurred to me that while I and our friends all know a great deal about your past… you've yet to bring up any friends from those days. Aside from that one mention you made yesterday during your story to Blake."
Nathan met Weiss' gaze, and nodded. "You're right." He said. "I've always meant to; but the timing never felt right."
"Well; we have time now." Weiss said.
Nathan nodded. "That we do." He said, stopping for a moment to think. "Back during the days of the Clone Wars; it was really common for me to be with any one of the following individuals: Master Kenobi, Master Skywalker, Senators Amidala and Chuchi, Tristan 'Ghost' Kast, Jedi Master Killian Drake, Jett Lennox, Ahsoka Tano, and finally… Jason Stone."
Weiss smiled. "Tell me about them as we work." She said.
Nathan smiled, starting to set up chairs. "I'll just tell you about the last five; starting with my master: Killian Drake."
Weiss nodded, indicating for Nathan to continue.
Nathan nodded and obliged, saying: "He was the Jedi that trained me after I was assigned to him when I was around fourteen." He replied. "He was a great teacher; and not just about being a Jedi and the ways of the Force. He taught me a lot of other things as well."
"Such as?" Weiss inquired.
"Well for one; he taught me to consider the Jedi Code; that being the 'rules' of being a Jedi; as more of a set of guidelines as opposed to actual rules." Nathan stated. "As such; whenever we were off duty or not on a mission, you'd often find him hanging about the lower levels of Coruscant; getting drunk off of whiskey or finding a fresh woman to sleep with. It was his way of de-stressing. In doing so, he taught me how to approach pretty girls and strike up a conversation with them." Nathan sighed. "Gods I miss that bastard. He taught me a lot; and I wish I still had him around to help guide me."
Weiss nodded. "I can imagine. Even if I would not approve of his… amorous pursuits."
Nathan snorted. "He wasn't even the worst one when it came to that sort of thing."
"Who was?" Weiss asked.
"We'll get to him." Nathan replied. "For now… after that was Jett Lennox. He was like me; a Padawan Learner assigned to one of my friends, who we'll get to. He's young; only a couple years younger than me; so same age as Ruby."
Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Are you implying you would attempt to set them both up romantically?"
"No." Nathan responded. "Anyway; Jett's a good kid. Friendly, kind of the little brother I never had. Hell of a temper though; oof. Thankfully, he's been working on that. Hope he still is."
"I see." Weiss said. "And the others?"
"Now we're getting to my inner circle." Nathan said. "The first being Tristan 'Ghost' Kast."
"Why do they call him Ghost?" Weiss asked.
"You're about to find out." Nathan answered. "There's not really much to say about Tristan, to be fair. He's a Mandalorian soldier."
"Mandalorian soldier?" Weiss asked.
"The soldiers that the clones were based on." Nathan replied. "Some of the best soldiers you'd ever find in the galaxy. Anyways, Tristan, or as we called him, 'Ghost', he used to be part of this hardline group called Death Watch. They were basically the Mandalorian equivalent to the White Fang."
Weiss frowned. "I see."
"But things changed after he went through some personal issues I'll not disclose out of respect for him." Nathan went on to say. "He began seeing what Death Watch were doing and what it was doing to the common people of Mandalore; the people Death Watch wanted to rule over. The final straw came when they ordered him to participate in a bombing of a school where an important government official would be appearing. Ghost refused on the grounds that there was seemingly no regard towards the children that'd also be hurt. They tried to kill him, so he fled, and began a series of clandestine solo operations against Death Watch; earning the name 'Ghost' because of his ability to appear out of nowhere, raise hell on Death Watch; and then leave. They eventually caught up to him and tried killing him; which was when me and Jason saved his life. He vowed to help us win the war as a repayment to that debt. As a result, we became good friends, and he remained true to his word, giving our men more training and making us one of the more effective combat units during the Clone Wars."
"That's good." Weiss remarked.
"Then; we come to my good friend Jason Stone; Jedi Knight and mentor to my aforementioned friend Jett Lennox." Nathan added. "Jason was my master's Padawan learner before me, so he's already a trained Jedi Knight. He's about seven years older than me, so he's about twenty-four right now."
"That's the same age as Winter." Weiss observed.
"Now who's trying to set my friends up?" Nathan teased.
Weiss rolled her eyes.
"Anyway; remember how I said my master wasn't the worst when it came to… amorous pursuits?" Nathan asked. "That honour belonged to Jason. Or as I always jokingly nicknamed him: The Paragon of Promiscuity. Wherever we went on a mission, Jason would always find a girl to sleep with. It didn't help that he's one: Very good looking, two: Extremely charming, and three: He's built like a freaking superhero. Women flocked to him, wanting to be with him. Thankfully, my master also stressed the importance of protection to avoid any… complications."
"By complications, do you mean unplanned pregnancies?" Weiss asked.
Nathan nodded. "And STD's." He replied. "Anyway; despite that, me and Jason were always good friends. Still are. Despite everything that happened during the whole Ahsoka debacle."
"What do you mean?" Weiss inquired.
"Despite his love for a good woman and a warm bed; Jason more or less toed the line with the Jedi Order." Nathan answered. "He was always one to try and be polite and follow the rules and keep his opinions to himself, despite what our master taught him about viewing the Jedi Code as more a set of guidelines than rules. Compare that to me."
Weiss nodded. "What happened?" She asked.
"Like I said; it was right after the whole Ahsoka debacle." Nathan said. "When I found out what happened, I was furious. I marched into the Jedi Council chambers and spent fifteen to twenty minutes tearing those bastards a new one. Imagine my worst tirade amplified to eleven. That was how badly I was ripping into the Council. Long story short, I nearly got kicked out of the Jedi Order. Afterwards, me and Jason got into a pretty bad argument. Sooth to say, words became fists, and fists would have become lightsabers if Master Drake hadn't intervened. We… didn't talk for nearly a year; which was why I never met Jett until like… a month or so before Order 66."
"That can't have been easy." Weiss commented.
"It wasn't." Nathan agreed. "Before that; me and Jason were really good friends. Master Drake would often tell me how our banter would have him laughing every time he listened in on us." Pausing, Nathan added: "I was meant to meet up with him, Jett and Ghost the day I wound up coming to Remnant. I would have waited for them, but..." Nathan sighed. "Why did I listen to Maz?"
"Perhaps whoever 'Maz' is knew something you did not at the time." Weiss said. "And maybe your friends are still out there right now; looking for you."
"Yeah." Nathan said in response. "But I guess we won't know until they finally do."
Weiss nodded. "And… what about Ahsoka?" She asked.
Nathan chuckled. ""Ahsoka Tano…" He muttered. "Where to start with that fucking bitch?"
Weiss giggled. "I take it you two were close." She said.
Nathan nodded. "Ahsoka was my best friend throughout my days in the Jedi Order. We were the same age, and we spent whatever time we could together during the Clone Wars." Nathan sighed. "When she left the Order… it hit me hard, to put it bluntly."
Weiss met Nathan's gaze. "Were… were you two… together-together, as Nora would put it?" She asked.
Nathan bowed his head, then met Weiss' gaze. "Yes and no. One night; we were both grieving our losses after fighting a losing battle against the Separatists. And… one thing led to another." Setting down another chair, Nathan added: "What followed was more or less a 'Friends with Benefits' type relationship. We weren't dating; but we always found time to… you know. It was a way for us both to destress, but it also taught me the importance of commitment, of sticking with someone in the long run. Jason and my master knew; pretty sure Ahsoka's master knew, but they never really said anything about it."
Weiss nodded. "I see. Was there… anyone else you… were with?"
Nathan nodded, memories of his hand tracing a line down blue skin, brushing purple hair behind an ear, and alluring golden eyes. "Her name was Riyo Chuchi. She was Republic Senator for the planet Pantora."
Weiss blinked. "A Senator? My my, Nathan, you have expensive taste."
Nathan shrugged with a smirk. "What can I say? She was single and smoking hot. Plus… she was there for me after Ahsoka left in a way my other friends couldn't be. From there… we fell for each other. Hard. Thus began nearly a year of dating. Lots of moments sneaking in and out of her apartments, though, and plenty of… stolen nights together, shall we say."
Weiss giggled.
"All that changed when Order 66 was issued, though." Nathan added sadly. "That night; I snuck into her apartment, having just lost my master. We talked for a long time, and… came to the realisation we could no longer be together. Me because… I was a wanted fugitive, and her being a Senator… we could have never made it work. So after one last night together… I left her behind forever." Wiping a few tears from his eyes, Nathan took a deep breath, looking to see Weiss watching him sadly.
"I… I can't imagine forcing myself to break my own heart to keep the one I love safe." Weiss remarked. "I'm so sorry, Nathan."
"Don't be." Nathan said. "Me and Chuchi made some treasured memories together. Sometimes I wonder how me and Chuchi would have turned out if we'd ran away together like she suggested." Sighing, Nathan added: "Past is the past though, and that's no longer ours to control. Right now… with the Jedi Order gone… maybe I can find someone who I can be with in the long term." At this, he looked over to Weiss, meeting her gaze.
"I'm honestly surprised you haven't already found someone." Weiss remarked. "Someone with your looks would normally be swimming in women."
Nathan smirked and faced Weiss. "You think I'm handsome?" He asked.
Weiss' eyes widened, and her cheeks turned a deep red. But she nodded nonetheless. "Whosoever wins your heart will be a lucky lady indeed."
She already has won my heart, Weiss. She's stood right in front of me, Nathan thought to himself, walking up to Weiss.
Their eyes met, and Nathan found himself staring deep into the icy blue eyes of Weiss. By the Force, she's beautiful, Nathan thought to himself. I need to ask her to the dance, now.
However, just as Nathan opened his mouth to ask Weiss out to the dance, the doors to the hall burst open:
"Guess who's decided to attend the dance tomorrow?!" Yang called out cheerfully, gesturing towards Blake, who stood next to Yang with a smile.
Nathan looked to see Weiss smiling happily at this news, and nodded himself. "Great." He replied happily, having to force a smile. Looking around, he asked Weiss: "Anything else I can help you with?"
"No; I think we have it covered, now." Weiss replied. "Thank you, Nathan. I knew I could count on you."
Nathan smiled, saying: "See you tomorrow, Weiss."
"See you!" Weiss called out as Nathan turned and left the hall.
An ache Nathan had only felt the night he had been forced to leave Riyo behind gripped his heart. That had been his best chance to date to tell Weiss how he felt, whilst also asking her out to the dance.
And with the dance being the following evening, his window to do so was running out. Which meant there was every chance Neptune could swoop in and ask Weiss out to the dance.
Nathan sighed. He really did need to work up the courage.
He was so deep in thought, he almost didn't hear the voice calling his name:
"Nathan!"
Nathan glanced up to see Ruby jogging towards him, and smiled. "Hey, Ruby." He said with a small smile.
"Have you just come from the dance hall?" Ruby asked.
Nathan nodded. "Was helping Weiss get everything ready." Nathan replied. "Yang's in there with Blake now. Sounds like Blake's agreed to attend tomorrow's dance at last."
"Really?!" Ruby squealed.
Nathan nodded. "Yup." He said.
Ruby pumped her fist in happiness, before looking at Nathan. "Nate… can I… ask you something?"
"Go ahead." Nathan replied.
"Look… I think it's pretty obvious to all of us by now that… you're in love with Weiss." Ruby said. "So… I guess what I'm trying to ask is: why haven't you asked her out to the dance yet?"
Nathan sighed. "I don't know. Nerves? Fearing she might say no and fuck up our whole friendship? The fact that Neptune might already have asked her and she's accepted? Or Force forfend; she's finally caved in and agreed to be Jaune's date." Nathan looked to Ruby. "Those are some of my fears. Fears I'm nervous I might see confirmed tomorrow night."
Ruby was silent for a few moments, before asking: "But how will you know unless you try?"
"Huh?" Nathan asked Team RWBY's young leader.
"I'm not an expert on romance by any stretch." Ruby confessed. "But you can't be sure about any of your fears unless you ask Weiss. If you keep going like this, then it's inevitable someone like Neptune or Jaune might sweep her up. Or worse; maybe her father will swoop in with some rich suitor and force her to marry him."
He'll try and fail at that, Nathan thought to himself.
"Look; just… shoot your shot with Weiss; okay?" Ruby said. "For all you know… she could say yes. And all your concerns will seem stupid."
Nathan nodded. "You know; anything before the word 'but' is meant to be bullshit. Maybe you are an expert in romance."
Ruby shrugged, then gasped. "Ruby Rose… awakener of romance!" She said in an awestruck voice.
Nathan snorted and ruffled her hair. "See you around, Rubes." He said, turning away and carrying on his walk back to the dorms. Maybe she was onto something with the 'awakener of romance' thing', though.
That evening, 20:00 pm…
Nathan exhaled a deep sigh of breath as he took in the cool evening air.
A confrontation with Jaune in the JNNPR dorm room had left him feeling more than a little angry, and so he'd opted for a little evening stroll to cool off and wait for Jaune to go to bed so he wouldn't need to renew the confrontation.
As he prepared to round a corner though; he paused, hearing a familiar sniffling.
Eyes narrowing, Nathan rounded the corner, and was surprised to find it was Weiss.
"Weiss?" Nathan said gently. "Is everything okay?"
Weiss met Nathan's gaze, revealing eyes wet with unwept tears and shook her head. "I… I sought out Neptune to ask him to the dance but… he rejected me."
"What?!" Nathan asked, ignoring the pang of jealousy that flared up at the prospect of Neptune being asked before him.
"He didn't give me a reason or anything!" Weiss sniffled. "He just said 'no' and left me!" At that, more tears fell, and Weiss buried her head into Nathan's shoulder.
Without hesitation, Nathan hugged Weiss, letting her sob into his shoulder. "Hey; it's okay, Weiss." Nathan said gently.
"You were right, Nathan… I probably was meant to be another notch on his belt." Weiss wept. "He probably already has another woman lined up."
Nathan sighed and stroked Weiss' hair, saying: "Or he just realised he couldn't do to you what he's done to so many other girls. Because I'd have made him regret breaking your heart so badly that he'd chase you to the ends of Remnant, begging your forgiveness."
Weiss giggled, stepping away from Nathan, wiping her tears from her eyes. "Still… I may as well attend the dance by myself." She said. "I have no intention of attending with Jaune; and… there really is no-one else I could go with."
Nathan made to nod; before a realisation came to him:
This was his chance. The moment he'd been waiting for.
With a deep breath, Nathan replied: "Not necessarily."
"What do you mean?" Weiss asked.
Taking a deep breath, Nathan looked into Weiss' eyes and asked: "Weiss… would you accompany me to the dance tomorrow?"
Weiss' eyes widened, and her breath seemed to catch in her throat as she stared back into Nathan's eyes.
Nathan held her gaze, time seeming to slow down around them as Weiss considered his question.
Until finally, a warm smile crossed Weiss' face; warmer than any Nathan had seen cross her face in the near several months he'd known her.
"Yes." Weiss replied.
Nathan's heartbeat began hammering against his ribs, and that warmth Nathan felt around Weiss seemed to surround them both as they moved closer.
An invisible string seemed to pull him towards Weiss in that moment.
Nathan made no effort to resist, starting to lean forward.
Weiss seemed to reciprocate, moving towards Nathan as well.
Only for her scroll to ring.
Both jumped at the sudden burst of noise, and Weiss checked her scroll before answering: "Yes, Ruby? Yes, I'm still on campus, why?" A few moments passed before Weiss rolled her eyes. "Of course you would do that. Okay, I'm on my way." Hanging up her scroll, Weiss took a deep breath. "Well… see you tomorrow, Nathan."
Nathan nodded, smiling at her. "Yeah… see you tomorrow…"
Weiss smiled back, and her eyes shone with all the colours of that evening.
But above all, they shone that shimmering, icy blue colour Nathan adored beyond all else.
Turning away, Weiss kept her gaze on Nathan until she'd rounded the corner, out of sight.
Only then did Nathan utter what he wanted to add on to his farewell to Weiss:
"Snow Angel…"
He wasn't sure if Weiss had heard him or not, but Nathan really didn't care.
All that mattered was that he had his chance.
His chance to finally be with the woman he loved.
Those of a romantic disposition must be fuming at me right now.
But I digress.
I really enjoyed reworking this chapter. Especially where Nathan has that talk with Ruby. And also the little banter between Weiss and Nathan; especially regarding them 'setting up' their friends and relatives with one another. Am I setting seeds for other romances... maybe?
Enough talk though; time for reviews:
Sharnorasian Empire: I might do, but again; where'd the fun be in that? And Jaune's obsession with Weiss should have ended the moment she rejected him the first time. As it did not; Nathan had to borrow a page from Jeff Jarrett's book on how to deal with problematic individuals. Or should I say opponents?
With all that said; thank you all very much for taking the time to read this story. If you liked it; y'all know what to do.
I shall see you next weekend with Chapters 7-8, which sees romance continue to blossom between Weiss and Nathan.
T-Rock14.
