Chapter 7
"Entering the United States"
Before we could dive deeper into the investigation of Ramzi Yousef, I think it is important to remember how he managed to start this whole frenzy the first place. You may think that it was Giovanni simply ordering him to carry out an attack that would kill Pokemon trainers and allowing their Pokemon to be easy pickings. No, he wanted him to prove his worth by any means necessary.
It all started on September 1st, 1992 where Ramzi and his accomplice, Ahmed Ajaj were traveling on Pakistani International Airlines Flight 703 from Peshawar to Karachi, Pakistan and then connected to Pakistani International Airlines Flight 005 to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. You see, he had a way to smuggle himself into the country and his friend, Ahmed, would play a part in it.
"All right, you know what to do," Ramzi said to his friend in Arabic. "Create a distraction and I enter the country."
"Good luck, my brother," Ajaj replied back in the Arab tongue.
Once the exited the plane, they proceeded down to Customs and Immigration. In his hands, Ramzi held a forged Iraqi passport and his intentions were to demand political asylum.
"Passport, please?" asked the Immigration Officer and Ramzi handed him the passport. "Abdul Rafai, where did you commence your journey?"
"Baghadad," Ramzi answered as his information was added into the databanks.
"Purpose of visit?"
"Political Asylum."
However, the Immigration office was not convinced by any means and began to question Ramzi's intentions. It seemed like the plan would fall apart, but then suddenly…a group of immigration and customs officers advanced towards the podium where Ahmed was at. Immediately, he was thrown to the ground by the agents and this to Ramzi, was all part of the plan.
Looking back at his associated, Ramzi could see that the plan had worked, for a most part.
"Very well then," said the officer. "I will allow you into the United States, but you will need to attend an immigration hearing on September 4th."
"Of course," Ramzi said and was allowed to enter the country.
…
Once he collected his suitcase, Ramzi proceeded towards the airport taxi depot and trolled the cabs until he found a cab with Team Rocket's logo on it.
"Agent Yousef?" asked the driver to which Ramzi nodded that he was. "Get in."
Doing as he was told, Ramzi stepped into the cab and the cab drove off.
"Dr. Sakami said I would be expecting you," said the cabbie. "Your associates are waiting for you across the river from the towers."
"And the Pokemon?"
"Freshly brought in from Tokyo this morning," replied the cabbie. "Stolen from a pair of trainers just yesterday. They have the ability to explode when commanded, with enough power to bring down the towers."
"Indeed, brother."
However, the cab was stuck in the New York City traffic and the journey to Ramzi's Team Rocket associates would be delayed slightly.
…
Meanwhile, Ahmed Ajaj had been thrown into an Immigration and Customs Detention Center on the grounds of Kennedy Airport. But he wasn't afraid, in fact, Ahmed was glad his actions allowed Ramzi to enter the United States.
"Ahmed Ajaj?" asked an officer as a man in a gray suit entered the cell he was in. "Your lawyer appointed by the courts."
"Thank you, please give me and my client some privacy," said the lawyer to which the officer obliged. "Now, Mr. Ajaj, according to your case, you were arrested tonight at the JFK Airport Immigration and Customs Hall. What happened?"
"I had some passports and several Pokemon in my person, harmless fighting type Pokemon."
"And what exactly were you planning to do with them?"
"Compete in a Pokemon tournament in Queens."
However, as the lawyer took in what Ahmed said, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease towards him. To the lawyer, Ahmed Ajaj had an affiliation.
"But, what about the materials that were found with the Pokemon on your person? They say that you are affiliated with Team Rocket?"
"No, I am not," denied Ahmed. "Those materials were placed on me without my knowledge."
Still, the lawyer had his doubts, but he had a job to do and put the statement in his defense. Right away, he knew that this was a case that he was sure to lose, but it didn't matter one bit.
…
About an hour later, Ramzi arrived at the warehouse in Jersey City, New Jersey where two Team Rocket agents were awaiting him.
"Are you the agent Giovanni told us about?" one of them asked, to which Ramzi replied that he was. "Welcome, brother."
And the two men escorted Ramzi inside the warehouse to begin their plans of using an explosive Pokemon to bring down the World Trade Center.
