Chapter 5: Golden Pearls and Golden Dreams

Kanato arrived at the manor as if nothing had happened. He had dropped the charred body of the blood bag he sucked earlier in Reiji's room. He had showered and changed as he met with his brothers at the dining room table. Ayato joked if Teddy had been abducted, and Kanato just shrugged, not bothering to entertain him.

Kanato's unusual behavior had made the brothers feel on edge, they had never seen him so calm and vaguely upbeat without Teddy. Reiji had quickly pulled Ayato aside and warned him to give Kanato back his bear. Already anticipating for his younger brother to go hysterical and trash the room in order to find it. Ayato scoffed at the accusations, and annoyingly replied that he didn't hide it this time.

Reiji could only pour himself an extra cup of tea, as he waited for his younger brother to explode any second. However, to his surprise five minutes had passed as they ate their food in silence and the table hadn't been flipped over. Kanato hadn't even uttered a word much less fidgeted. He was eating his food properly for once, much to Reiji's surprise. He peered at his younger brother who had carefully cut his steak into thin slices. A very faint smile graced Kanato's face with each bite he took.

"Reiji, I would like you to store whatever blood you can from the body I left in your room," Kanato asked as he wiped the side of his mouth with a linen cloth.

"The body is completely burnt, but I'll see what I can do."

Yui's blood went cold wondering who they were talking about. Even though she should be used to this sort of talk, she could never get the horrid feeling of knowing there was a dead body somewhere in the house. The brothers spoke of it so nonchalantly it was as if they were discussing the weather, not some cadaver.

"You sure did a number on the blood bag," Ayato said, raising an eyebrow. Recalling how Kanato had dragged the unrecognizable body into the house. He didn't even bother to hide it in a bodybag. "Was she that ugly?"

"I burned down a whore house," Kanato corrected him. "She just so happened to be caught in it. Though her blood was less than satisfying."

"So that was you," Laito replied in surprise. He had overheard of a brothel being hit with arson. Many people including the cops linked it to a dispute between rival gang members. "You hid your tracks pretty well, but if you wanted to have a good time you should have gone to Red Lotus instead. They have a lot of fresh young blood over there."

"Do they now?" Shuu asked, his interest slightly piqued.

Kanato wrinkled his nose in disgust reminding them he didn't have the same vile interests as they did. He knew Laito would jump on anything that moved.

"Whatever you do, just don't burn down Pleasure Winds," Laito laughed. "That's our go-to spot."

Ayato stiffened in his seat, he didn't want Yui hearing of his past rendezvous.

"Can everyone shut up!" Subaru growled, he had a very thin line of patience reserved for his brothers and it was already starting to wear down.

"Don't be such a bore Subaru," Laito said. "You may want to pay the whore house a visit every once in a while. I'm sure they'll help blow that pent up steam."

That jab made the triplets cackle like a bunch of hyenas. Yui could just see the quick look of embarrassment that flashed on Subaru's face before it was replaced with a look of anger.

Reiji quickly told everyone to settle down and not bring up such distasteful conversations at the dinner table. Laito looked up from his plate innocently as Subaru simply got up and left.

"At least someone is getting a bit of action, and I'm not talking about Ayato. Bitch-chan is about as prude as they come." Laito said, wiping the edge of his mouth with a linen cloth as he got up. "Don't be shy, Kanato, and let us know what she tastes like."

"It's none of your business," Kanato said defensively, grippin the fork tightly in his hand. He hated when his brothers pried in his personal life. Laito and Reiji were the nosiest, he could never keep anything to himself without them finding out about it.

"Oooh the game isn't over," Laito replied, leaving the table. "I guess I'll go and pay her a visit."

"You will do no such thing!" Kanato screeched, causing Yui to flinch. Kanato had an angry hysteric look in his eyes that only ever happened when it had something to do with Teddy or his sweets.

"Au revoir," Laito said, blowing a kiss in their direction.

A sharp steak knife had been flung across the room as it plunged deeply into the wall, barely missing Laito's face if it wasn't for him moving at the last second. Laito had simply chuckled as he left the room.

Reiji sighed as he served himself another cup of tea, reminding Kanato to not throw the silverware across the room.

Yui sank in her seat, her appetite had left her. Usually their meals were quiet with as little interaction as possible, but lately their dinings have been more lively. Yui didn't know what to think of it. Not that she was given much to think about, because as soon as Ayato had seen her stop eating he had pulled her to him and excused them both from the table; much to Reiji's displeasure of their lack of manners being shown at the table.

Yui had been dumped in her room by Ayato as he warned her not to leave.

"Pancake, I'll be leaving, but I'll be back for some blood. If I find out you left this room again, I'll break one of your fingers." He lowered himself to where she sat on her bed as he whispered in her ear. "If one of my brothers drinks from you, while I'm gone I'll kill you with my own hands."

Yui's blood went cold as she looked at his mischievous eyes. Those beautiful emerald eyes stared at her as if she were the gazelle and he the lion. He pulled her into a kiss and his eyes closed as the kiss deepened between them.

Yui's eyes remained open. She knew that she was seen as a plaything for the Sakamaki's like those before her. That's why she couldn't help but feel broken after he used a kiss to play with her emotions. Knowing that small gesture like a kiss was insignificant to him, but to her it meant everything. She didn't want to kiss a man who didn't regard her feelings. Who treated her as nothing more than an object for his amusement.

"Pancake kiss me," Ayato whispered in her ear. Yui tried, but failed as she played into his game. She kissed him back, succumbing to him as her eyes finally closed. She could feel him smirking as he pulled down her shirt.

"Wait," she gasped, breaking the kiss.

He shushed her, as he lowered his head into her collarbone and bit down. Yui clenched her lips so as to not make a sound. If she showed any sign of discomfort Ayato would simply enjoy her pleas and drink from her longer. However it didn't take long for the pain to turn into what she dreaded. Her face became flushed and she caught herself drifting into pleasure. He finally released the nape of her neck to look down on her. She knew he was judging her. Proud that he had left a human girl in a heap of forbidden pleasure. He teased her as he reached the inside of her shorts, stroking the top of her underwear. Yui shivered, as she refused to make eye contact with him, instead focusing on the painted ceiling. Ayato grunted, not liking her reaction as he grabbed her face, forcing her gaze onto him.

"When I come back, I'll finish what we started." He warned her, letting her go as her head dropped onto the bed. She quickly sat up to find herself alone. She walked over to her drawer and pulled out the rosary her father had gifted her. She started to pray, but she caught herself crying. She was taught to forgive those who had done her wrong, but she couldn't bring herself to excuse Ayato's behavior anymore. At this moment she loathed him. He belittled her, whenever he had the chance. Made her feel sick and violated whenever he drank from her or kissed her. She felt that she was walking on eggshells whenever she was around him. He could easily kill her with his two hands, but he rather watched her suffer.

When she had first arrived at the Sakamaki mansion and had experienced the torment and abuse at their hands, she had contemplated killing herself. When Subaru had handed her that silver dagger she could have ended her misery, but for some reason she couldn't bring herself to do it. A little voice in the back of her mind warned her not to, that in due time she would get her revenge. After she had met Valentina the little voice ceased to talk to her, and she no longer found herself in weird dreams that involved the brothers when they were younger. What Yui wanted was someone to talk to. Someone who understood what she was going through. She found herself standing in front of Kanato's bedroom door. She was no longer afraid of the repercussions, what she needed was a confidant or else she'd lose her sanity.

Yui knocked on Kanato's door, but he didn't answer. She knocked again, and asked Kanato if he was in there? She didn't hear a response, as she held her breath and went inside. She was greeted by a roomful of stuffed animals and an engrossed Kanato sitting by a sewing machine.

"Hello Kanato," Yui stuttered. "What are you working on?" She walked over to where he was at, and gasped in awe at the beautiful garment he was making.

"Who gave you permission to enter," Kanato said with an annoyed expression. He stopped the sewing machine and took off his glasses as he waited for the Worm to explain herself. Yui didn't know what to say and began to stutter before Kanato got up and pricked her arm with a sewing needle. She yelped, pulling the needle from her forearm.

"Just shut up before you become a pincushion! Your mere presence annoys me and now your blood is distracting me."

Yui apologized as Kanato threw her a box of bandaids that bounced from her head. "Put one on before I drink you dry."

Yui complied as she slapped on a bandaid before she could give him a reason to complain. "I want you to take me to see Valentina."

Kanato snorted, and stopped threading the soft yellow pearls onto the sleeve of the dress. "Now why would I do that?"

"I want to see her."

"You stupid Bride. I'll ask again, why would I help you? What do I get from helping the useless?"

Yui bit on her bottom lip nervously, anticipating a trade of sorts. "I'll give you some of my blood."

Kanato quickly appeared before her, backing her into a wall. He had the look of anger etched on his face.

"Don't patronize me, if I had wanted my brother's sloppy seconds I would've broken your neck by now. If all you have to offer is your blood, you're absolutely worthless."

Those words stung and Yui felt tears pricking from the side of her eyes. She had forgotten that Kanato had a quick tongue, his words could be just as harsh or demeaning as Reiji's. She peered at the sewing machine and held back her tears. Telling him she could offer him assistance on the dress he was making.

"I'm really good at sewing and stitching. If you give me any torn piece of clothing I can mend it pretty well."

She noticed Kanato contemplating her offer.

"Hmm, would you write my English paper too?"

Yui nodded her head, "Yes! That would be fine."

Kanato sighed, tossing her measuring tape."When I take you to go see her I need you to write down her body measurements. If my brother finds out that you left to go see her, I will not not help you. Whatever my brother chooses to do to you, better not affect neither me nor her."

She agreed and Kanato grabbed her wrist telling her to close her eyes and hold her breath. He had teleported her in front of Valentina's apartment. Yui felt a little dizzy, she wasn't used to teleporting yet. The first time Ayato had done it, he didn't warn her to close her eyes and she puked. She had been embarrassed when he laughed and even more when she found herself surrounded by people.

Kanato halted her, he told her that a familiar would be observing them from afar just in case she had any stupid ideas. If by chance she saw anyone she recognized snooping around Valentina's home she should let him know. Yui nodded, grateful that Kanato would leave them alone to talk. He left her, as Yui went over and rang the doorbell.

"Who is it?" Valentina said through the intercom.

"Valentina! It's me Yui!"

"Oh my God! Come up! I live on the third floor."

The buzzer blared and Yui opened the apartment door as she ran up the stairs. She was greeted by Valentina who screamed in joy when she saw her. They hugged and laughed as a few neighbors opened their doors at hearing the commotion.

"Come inside!" Valentina pulled Yui into her apartment as she apologized for the mess. Many of her family's things were still in boxes. Her parents left to run some errands, so she told Yui it would just be them. "Do you want any lemonade?"

Yui nodded her head, her throat was kind of parched. Valentina handed her a cup as she poured some in. "Do you want anything to eat? I can make us some tacos."

"I'm good, thanks. I just ate." Yui smiled, reassuring her.

"Yui, I've been so worried about you! How did you get a chance to come here?"

"Kanato brought me." Yui revealed, noticing how Valentina tensed at the mention of his name. "Did something happen?"

"What have you heard?" Valentina questioned as she served herself a glass of lemonade.

"To be honest not much. The Sakamaki's don't really talk to each other," Yui revealed as Valentina led her to the living room couch. "But they see you as a game."

Valentina made a face, she had only been to school for a day and she was already a victim to these sick bastards.

Yui sighed, looking around the room nervously. "I came here to talk to you, but also to warn you. This game that they're playing isn't about bullying you at school."

"I didn't think they would." Valentina interjected. "They don't seem like the type to trash a locker or hide my gym clothes."

"Valentina, it's far worse. This game between them is to see who gets to own you."

Valentina's cup had slipped from her hand as the glass shattered on the ground.

"Goddammit!" Valentina screamed, putting a hand to her head. She wanted to punch a hole in the wall. She was angry, and scared. They couldn't just own her, she wasn't some piece of property. She hated the idea of them having some control over her. With Kanato already making it clear to her what she was to him, all she could think about was keeping her family safe. "What should I do?"

Yui stared at her friend who looked helpless. For once, Yui could understand the fear and uncertainty she was going through. They were both in the same boat.

"Let's first pick up the broken glass. I don't want you accidentally stepping on it." Yui said, grabbing a dishcloth. "You have to be careful from now on. Any injury or simple cut you get, will attract them."

Valentina nodded as she grabbed a trash bag as they poured the broken glass into it. "Will get through this," Valentina told her. "If these rich assholes think they can own somebody for playing their sick twisted games they have something else coming to them." She held her hand as Yui felt oddly relieved that someone was there for her. How long had it been since she had a human interaction like this one? It brought tears to her eyes and Valentina hugged her asking her what was wrong.

"I contemplated killing myself before," Yui revealed, telling her of the abuse and the knife Subaru gifted her. "I'm just tired of everything. Tired of living."

Valentina gently cupped Yui's face in her hands. "Everyday, after you wake up and before you go to bed I need you to look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you are a strong, independent woman. Living is hard, but your life is precious Yui. Don't let these bastards take it for granted. They go about their lives never experiencing the joys and sadness of life. You only live once, and though it may be hard now, it'll get better. Don't ever feel like you're alone. I'll always be there for you."

Yui gave her a wry smile, silently thanking her. Valentina was right, she would get through this, but now she wouldn't be alone.

Valentina's stomach grumbled and Yui giggled as they headed to the kitchen to prepare themselves some tacos. She made Yui two as she pulled out the green salsa and told her to use it sparingly because it was spicy. They both ate while they discussed this "game" the brothers were playing.

"So no one but Kanato has been inside your home?" Yui asked.

"He's been the only one." She shivered, telling her of how she made the mistake of letting Kanato sleep over her house.

"I'm relieved he didn't hurt you."

"He didn't, but he sure in hell threatened me."

"I'm surprised though," Yui pondered. "Kanato could have 'won' the game so to speak, but he didn't bite you."

"I wonder that too, now that you told me about their little game. I'll make sure to keep my distance from Reiji and Laito. Though to be clear, Shuu isn't playing?" She questioned since she sat right next to him for calculus.

Yui shrugged her shoulders. "From what I saw, I don't think he would. In my past dreams, every girl that had chosen Shuu had all been killed by Reiji. I'm guessing if he seems uninterested in you, it'll give Reiji a reason to not pursue you."

Valentina nodded her head, in understanding. Reiji had some inferior complex to his older brother. If it was one less vampire to worry about, she could live with that.

"That reminds me, Yui, how long can you stay here? I'm surprised Ayato let you come over."

"He didn't," Yui said, quickly washing the dishes after realizing what time it was. "Before I go, I need to take your body measurements. Please don't ask why."

"Alright, I won't. You better hurry though I don't want you getting in trouble."

Yui followed Valentina to her bedroom, as she took her friend's measurements, jotting them down on a piece of paper. As Valentina was putting her clothes back on, Kanato appeared in her room, startling them both.

"Geez, knocking would have been nice," Valentina said sarcastically. It annoyed her when people just barged in her room, or yet showed up unannounced.

Kanato ignored the remark, it was a really foolish notion that he should have to knock as mere mortals do. He sat on her bed as he saw her writing something down on a piece of paper, handing the slip of paper to the Bride.

"This is my number Yui, whenever you get the chance just give me a call."

Yui nodded, her hopes were high again. It was amazing what an hour visit to her friend's house could do.

Kanato tched, narrowing his eyes at the blonde, "I would suggest you hurry."

Patience wasn't a skill of his, especially when he wanted time alone with his toy and there was a Worm in the way. Yui nodded, as she quickly walked over to give Valentina a kiss on the cheek. This irritated Kanato as he stuck his hand blocking the Worm's lips before it could touch her skin. "Let's go!" He mumbled as he took the Bride's wrist and pulled her away. He teleported her back to his room without warning and Yui fell to her knees. Her stomach was churning,

"If you puke on my rug, I'll skin you alive," he threatened her. He tossed her a small piece of chocolate that was wrapped in foil, as she ate it hoping the feeling of nausea would subside.

"I expect my English paper to be finished the day before it's due. And make sure to slide it under my bedroom door."

Yui nodded as she handed him Valentina's body measurements. He looked over them, satisfied and handed her a small wooden chest.

"What's this?" Yui asked curiously, wondering why he had given this to her?

Kanato rolled his eyes, calling her stupid as he told her to open the box.

Yui gasped at the beautiful colored pearls that radiated beautifully inside the wooden chest. She picked up a lustrous golden colored pearl, rolling it between her fingers. She could feel the smooth ridges, the pearl's surface nearly perfect.

"Where did you get these?" Yui said in awe.

"These were grown in the Golden South Sea. These are among the rarest and most valuable pearls one can ever come across. There shouldn't be a reason to not tell you to take care of these with your life."

Yui understood, carefully placing it back in the box. If she lost one, there'd be hell to pay.

"I want you to string them. Every individual pearl will be knotted so they don't bump into each other," Kanato instructed her. "I placed a long chain inside a black pouch. It's around a meter in length. Once you fit all the pearls onto the chain, you'll add a 20-karat gold clasp to it."

"Alright," Yui said, understanding what she had to do. "When did you want me to finish this?"

"It'll take you a few weeks. There's no set time." Kanato stated, "I don't want a sloppy job! I better find the necklace impeccable." If the Bride messed this up, he would actually kill her. Kanato was a stickler for craftsmanship. He'd never admit it, but he actually agreed with Reiji whenever things weren't done in a precise manner. It drove him crazy when his brothers half-assed things.

Yui smiled and told him not to worry. He huffed and told her to leave. Yui excused herself and walked towards her room. She was going to hide the chest, she didn't want Ayato or someone else to take it. She opened her door and found Ayato sitting on her bed staring angrily at her.

Ayato grabbed Yui before she could run and slammed her body against the closed door, choking her. "I told you to not leave your room! "

He saw her struggling, watching her futile attempt to try to remove one of his hands without dropping the wooden box. "You reek of the Hysteric!"

Tears started to fall as she gasped for air. She dug her nails into his hands hoping to loosen his grip, but he snapped one of her fingers as she screamed in pain. He had let her fall to the ground, as the box dropped from her hands. All the pearls had scattered across her room as she cradled her broken pinkie. She felt lightheaded, but the excruciating pain kept her from fainting.

Ayato forcefully grabbed her chin as he pinned her to the wall. "Where the hell were you?"

"I'm sorry I left!" Yui moaned in pain, it was hard for her to even talk. Her hand was trembling, as she tried to not touch her finger.

Ayato scowled, but picked her up and told her to stop squirming as he carried her to Reiji's room, not bothering to knock as he barged in. "Oi Reiji, fix her broken finger."

Reiji sighed, and told him to knock next time. He didn't acknowledge Yui, simply telling her to sit down as he grabbed some medical tools. He examined the bent pinky, but didn't ask her what had happened. Reiji was a busy man, and taking care of a sacrificial bride was not required of him. He didn't care what had happened, the only thing they were told by their father to not do, was kill her. Without warning, he snapped her finger back in place, and she screamed.

"I'd advise you to keep silent," Reiji said in a threatening manner. "Your presence already is not welcomed."

Yui bit her lip so she wouldn't yell anymore, but it didn't stop the tears from falling down her face. Reiji had carefully bandaged her finger and told her to not put pressure on it. He handed her a cloth that was filled with ice and told her to keep it pressed to her finger so the swelling would go down. He laid two tablets on the table, as she eyed them suspiciously. He told her that it was a dose of acetaminophen-codeine which would help with the pain. She swallowed them after he handed her a glass of water.

"She'll be fine," Reiji said, going back to observing the different colored flasks that were on the table.

Ayato grunted, not bothering to thank him as he took Yui back with him. He carried her back to her room, as he laid her gently on the bed. Yui wanted to get as far away from him as possible, but Ayato had the audacity to lay beside her. He wrapped his arms around her petite waist as he nuzzled his face into her neck.

"Don't you ever think of leaving me again." He whispered as he drank from the nape of her neck. All Yui could do was lay still, as he drained her, filling his stomach with her sweet, warm blood. He released his fangs from her neck and she turned around letting her back face him. She wanted him to leave her alone and it irritated Ayato that she was giving him the cold shoulder.

"Don't turn your back on me," Ayato said, forcefully flipping her over. Yui folded as she locked eyes with him.

"What do you want from me?"

This game he was playing exhausted her. She loathed him, and at this point it didn't matter if she pissed him off any further than she already had. Ayato had simply frowned, ignoring her question as he told her to sleep

If only it was that easy. Yui found it difficult sleeping in the same bed as the man who had broken her finger and threatened to kill her. But she was mentally and physically drained. The painkillers that Reiji gave her were already kicking in, and making her feel drowsy. She had succumbed to sleep as Ayato held her tightly. There was no escaping this.

Ayato watched her sleep. He could watch her for hours, if he could. He counted her every steady heartbeat and watched as her chest moved with each breath she took. He felt conflicted, but tried to ignore those pestering feelings that plagued him. He tucked Yui in, as he picked up the pearls that had scattered across the room. He wondered why Kanato had given this to her? He placed the wooden box on her vanity, and left her room quietly. If he settled this dilemma, by warning Kanato to leave Yui alone it would make him feel less guilty of what he had done. Afterall, he had told Yui to not leave her room, and she ignored him. If he instilled this form of punishment she would be less likely to commit the same mistake again. There wouldn't be a need for him to punish her anymore. He had walked past Subaru's room as he heard a tched. His head swerved as he found himself standing in front of his youngest brother.

"You're a piece of shit," the white-haired brother muttered under his breath.

"The fuck did you say!" Ayato said, staring hard at him. His hand was balled into a fist ready to punch him.

"I know you heard me," Subaru responded, his voice hinted with disdain. "You didn't have to break her fucking finger."

"Don't tell me what to do with my blood-bag." Ayato warned, "If I break her goddamn pinky to teach her a lesson, I'll break it. She belongs to Yours Truly!"

"Cut the act," Subaru hissed. "If she really means nothing more to you, than just a blood-bag, I'll take her from you!"

Before Ayato could bash his brother's face into the wall, he heard Laito walking towards them.

"My, oh my! What's all this commotion!" Laito clapped his hands, catching their attention. "Subaru, I didn't think I rubbed myself too much on you."

Subaru narrowed his eyes at the intrusion, "Fuck off!"

"My someone is touchy these days," Laito chuckled absentmindedly. "I didn't think you'd have the guts to whisk Bitch-chan away. Friendly tip in keeping a blood-bag if you plan on stealing one, work on your charisma. It wouldn't hurt. If a damsel is in distress, you want her to think she ran to her savior, and not another monster."

Subaru clenched his jaw as he punched Laito across the face, slamming him into the wall. Laito wasn't good at one-on-one fights, preferring a much stealthier attack. He got up, picking up his hat that fallen to the ground, cracking his neck in satisfaction

"It's a shame he left so soon," Laito chuckled, clearly amused at getting under his youngest brother's skin.

"Don't speak of what belongs to Yours Truly so freely." Ayato warned, not liking Laito's input. "He's not taking anything away."

"Now my advice to you my dear brother," Laito said, in a serious manner. "Women want to be wooed, not scared into submission. If you want to break her, do it after she submits to you. Don't give her a reason to leave you. The only thing you've been doing is helping Subaru."

"Shut up!" Ayato hissed, clearly irritated and annoyed at his brother's reasoning. He was right. "I didn't come to talk to either of you." He didn't need Laito giving him any advice. What Laito and Subaru had between them was on a personal level. That didn't involve him.

Laito chuckled. "Suit yourself. Oh, and if you're planning on paying Kanato a visit. I'd suggest you wait until tomorrow."

Ayato stopped in his tracks, turning his head towards Laito. "Why? Where is he?"

"He's certainly not here," Laito responded. "You know how he gets with his toys. The only thing you'll do is irritate him. Kanato isn't interested in Bitch-chan in the slightest. Don't give him a reason to actually harm her because if you press his buttons enough he'll actually do it to spite you."

Spitefulness wasn't just a sensation that came and went, it was the feeling of hostility that affected one brother more than the other. Kanato's spitefulness came from the pranks his brothers would pull, and Ayato didn't want to be the drop of water that caused the glass to break. No matter how much the triplets envied, or hated each other, they would forever be bound as brothers. Them sharing the same wretched womb had nothing to do with it, but a simple heinous act they had committed together. They had murdered "Her" and Ayato had not regretted it. The Bitch had it coming. Whoever tried to harm his brothers, Ayato would kill for them without a doubt. His talk with Kanato could wait. He was sure after what had happened with Yui, she wouldn't dare defy him again. He disappeared leaving Laito alone.

Laito chuckled as he continued to walk down the corridor to his room. Before he could open his door, he found Shuu slumped on the floor blocking the corridor.

"That was quite a diversion."

"What can I say," Laito said, leaning against the wall. "I've mastered the art of deceit."

"That you have." Shuu said, in his low monotone voice. He opened his eyes to reveal the news. "Kanato has won the game."

Laito smirked, already anticipating the outcome. "Did you come to tell me she's dead?"

"Her? No." Shuu revealed. "But someone will be. His familiar just dropped off a male human to the dungeon."

Laito raised an eyebrow in surprise, wondering what the lowly human could have done to have angered his brother. "When Kanato is done playing with him, he would have wished for a quick death."

He didn't think Kanato would go as far as to kill for her, but his brother was very particular with whom his past toys could interact with. Knowing him, Kanato had probably already slaughtered her family. He wouldn't judge, but personally it wasn't Laito's style. Then again all the blood bags he preyed on were all plain, simple, and lonely. Those that were the easiest to disappear and no one would notice them gone, and least likely to be reported missing.

Laito wondered what had happened. Nothing could get past him, if his brothers had a secret he'd find out about it within days.

"I'm going to take a stroll," Laito said as he left his older brother slumped in the hallway. He made his way to the underground dungeons hiding his presence. He could hear his brother chastising his familiar, about dropping someone on their head. Laito could smell the blood in the air as he inched closer. He saw an old man lying on the ground, unconscious as blood tainted the floor. Kanato appeared out of nowhere, closing the door in front of his face.

Laito smirked, this would get interesting.
