AJ vs. Carly and Jason

Carly sat up in her bed with a start when she sensed someone staring at her. It was AJ! "What-what are you doing here?!" she gasped.

"I came to talk to the lying little whore and hear it for myself," AJ said coldly.

"Don't you talk to me that way!" Carly exclaimed.

"You lied to me, Carly! We slept together!" AJ yelled. "You had no right to keep THAT from me!"

"The baby is Jason's!"

AJ suddenly dropped the baby's medical file down onto Carly's bed. A couple of papers slid out. The one on top showed the infant's blood type.

"What the HELL are you doing with my baby's records?!"

AJ shrugged. "Both of my parents work here at the hospital. It wasn't that hard for me to get my hands on them. I had to know the truth, Carly and I knew YOU weren't going to tell me. So, here it is ... in black and white... the truth..."

He pointed to the baby's blood test results. "He has Jason's blood type; not mine," AJ said with a sigh. "You got what you wanted. My brother knocked you up... not me."

Carly had been holding her breath, wondering what AJ's conclusion would be when he saw her son's blood type. A plus or minus sign was no indicator of paternity. Was AJ a complete idiot?

Carly let out the breath she had been holding deep inside. "You're right. He's not yours. Now get out and don't let the door hit you in the ass."

Just then Jason entered the room. He had heard the loud voices out in the hallway and knew that Carly was upset. When he saw his brother at Carly's bedside, he glared at AJ. "What do you think you're doing in here?" he demanded.

AJ smirked. "The kid is yours, Jason," AJ said as he pointed at the medical records. "He has your blood type, not mine. You're a lucky man. Congratulations."

Jason barely glanced at the papers in Carly's lap. He saw that her cheeks were aflame. AJ had upset her greatly, but his intrusion had awakened her fury. If looks could have killed, his brother would be a dead man. He didn't like to see Carly's distress, but arguing with AJ had helped Carly snap out of that dark and dreary place she had been locked in. Her sharp claws were out and she was looking a lot more like herself.

"Carly, count to ten," Jason said as he saw her seething. She was close to jumping out of her hospital bed and slapping AJ across the face. Jason was certain she would probably pop out all her stitches in the process.

"I want him out of here!" Carly insisted.

"You heard her. GET OUT!" Jason said forcefully.

"You know I really feel sorry for you," AJ taunted his brother. "You got the kid, but then that means you'll have to put up with his mother - the lying little slut."

Jason did exactly what Carly wished she could do. He bloodied his brother's lower lip. "I am giving you one last chance. Get the hell out now... or you'll be leaving this room on a stretcher," Jason warned.

AJ cradled his bleeding lip. "You're going to regret that, Jason," he said with a scowl. He didn't even bother to grab the medical records he had stolen as he left the room.

As soon as he was gone, Jason asked, "Carly, are you alright?"

"I hate your brother so much. He's such a jerk...and he's an idiot, too. He said that since the baby's blood type isn't the same as his, then the baby has to be yours. There's no way to prove it... except for a DNA test."

"I told you before we don't need a DNA test. I am the baby's father."

Carly gave Jason as huge smile. It warmed his heart. He hadn't seen her smile in far too long.

"You're right, Jase. You are Michael's father."

"Michael?"

"Yes, I want to name our son Michael. Do you like it?"

Jason nodded in agreement as Carly went on to say that Jason should choose their child's middle name. "His name will be Michael Alan Morgan," Jason stated. "How's that?"

"I love it," Carly said as moisture flooded her eyes. This time they were tears of happiness.
