"Genetic pattern recognized… welcome, Vel-Zar."
The brown-haired, green eyed Kryptonian sighed. "Two survivors," he said to himself. "Two survivors of this damn ship, and I'm one of them. But where in Rao's name is the other? Well… today, we find out!" He activated a large screen, displaying the passenger manifest of this crashed vessel. All passengers, save for Vel-zar and one other, were highlighted in red. This was to be expected. He received a pleasant surprise when he saw a small box by the information card of the other survivor: "Searching…" said the Kryptonese text. Vel-zar waited as the search ran, taking a small bottle of cranberry juice and drinking it as he paced the floor, his boots producing an authoritative staccato click as he walked.
Vel-Zar, son of Ken-Zar, had been part of an exploratory mission, on the ship as a baby, along with a few other infants, so that Krypton could find and colonize another habitable world. Unfortunately, the ship had malfunctioned, the life pods had failed, and everyone, save for himself and another baby, a girl, had died.
"Match found… establishing connection." After a brief pause, the voice spoke again. "Connection established… triangulating location."
Vel-Zar sipped his juice again.
"Location determined."
Looking at the screen, he furrowed his brow in thought. "Locate nearest settlement," he ordered.
"Nearest settlement, Shelbyville, Tennessee… United States of America."
Vel-Zar smiled. "Thank you, Merlin."
"You're welcome."
Vel-Zar smiled. Today, he'd finally meet that other survior. Did she even know that she was Kryptonian? That she had powers? How she could use them? And why hadn't Superman… Kal-El, Son of Jor-El, met her first?
This would be a very interesting day.
