Never trust a wizard

Hey, everyone. Welcome back to The Owl Howse: The Bro Files. You know what's coming up with this title. Though, instead of Luz being tricked into going alone on this adventure, Carlos joins her. Though, Carlos probably won't be as easy to trick as Luz. Let's see what adventure awaits the Noceda siblings in this chapter.

Also, I'm keeping Luz and Amity as a couple because I find their relationship to be adorable. Anyways, let's go!

We start off with both Luz and Carlos asleep, as they were both apparently having the same dream of the previous day. They then both wake up in a cold sweat.

"Genial, no es un sueno." Carlos groaned as he got up. He headed to the bathroom before heading down the stairs. He tried seeing if Eda had anything that he could eat, but all he could find was things that weren't edible to him.

Carlos saw Luz head to a closet, mumbling about how she hoped for witch stuff in there, which there looked like witch stuff in there when she opened it. She put on one of the outfits, as she put 'Apprentice Luz' on a 'Hello, My Name is...' sticker, as she placed it on her chest.

"You know you look ridiculous in that, right?" Carlos asked.

"I don't care. All I care about is that I'm going to learn magic from an actual witch!" Luz excitedly said. She then went to eagarly wait for Eda at the bottom of the stairs. Carlos had poked his head around the corner.

They both heard the toilet flushing upstairs, as they then heard Eda's footsteps coming toward the stairs. Once she got to the stairs, we see that Eda was in her nightwear. It consisted of a magenta top with yellow cuffs, a purple skirt and yellow bunny slippers. Eda gave out a loud yawn, as she was still waking up.

"Good morning, Eda the Owl Lady! I am ready for my first day of Witch Apprenticeship." Luz excitedly greeted the witch.

"Ugh. Who are you two again?" Eda asked, as if she didn't remember Luz or Carlos. This made the siblings confused and Luz a little heartbroken.

"Huh?" She asked.

"Wait, she seriously doesn't remember about yesterday?" Carlos asked, just as confused as Luz. Eda had walked down the stairs and past Luz and Carlos, as she entered the kitchen.

"Remember me? Luz? Ahh!" Luz asked, as she then got hit in the head with a magically floating coffee mug. She then continued. "We freed the oppressed and defeated the evil warden together? Yesterday?"

"Kid, lay off the details. I haven't even had my cup of apple blood yet." Eda said, as she now had the mug and filled it with a red liquidy drink.

"You mean apple juice?" Carlos asked.

"No." Eda tiredly said, as she walked to the table and leaned against it. King was at the table, as he was trying to eat some yellow gunk with eyeballs in it.

"Teach me some spells. When do I get a magic staff? Was I supposed to bring my own ruins? *Gasp* Do you have a dangerous magical quest for me?" Luz excitedly kept asking Eda questions.

"Is she always like this?" Eda asked Carlos.

"Only when it comes to magic and witches." Carlos replied.

"Look, kid. Being a witch doesn't happen overnight. Also, you're wrapped in a bathrobe and wearing the dirtiest traffic cone I've ever seen." Eda said.

Luz took off the 'Witches Hat' she was wearing and blew on it, revealing it to actually be a dented traffic cone. Both King and Carlos laughed at that.

"But a magic staff, huh? You relly want one?" Eda asked, as she took a sip of her drink and had apple blood on her upper lip. The sound of this made Luz very excited.

"More than anything." She said with twinkles in her eyes.

"I can get you one too, if you'd like." Eda told Carlos.

"Sorry, but magic and being a witch is more of something Luz likes. I'm just here to make sure she stays safe." Carlos said.

"Suit yourself, kid. Magic staff, come to me!" Eda commanded, holding out her hand. You could hear a few things clattering in the distance, as the magic staff was making its way to Eda. Everyone had looked to the doorway, as the staff came through and flew directly to Eda, as it hit her in the head and made her yelp and fumble with the staff.

"Now, witches are rewarded their staffs from school. With me as your teacher, you'll be taking a different approach." Eda said.

"Wait, there is a school for witches?" Carlos asked. Normally, he wasn't as witch or magic crazy as Luz, but this got him a little intrigued.

"Yes. But like I said, Luz is learning from me." Eda said. "And the way she'll get a staff is by working for it." She had pulled out a bag full of potions and elixers, as she handed it to Luz.

"On second thought, I think I will join Luz in being an apprentice. Not for the sake of being a witch, but to make sure Luz doesn't get herself into trouble." Carlos said.

"Good, then you'll be going with her. I run a few businesses. On weekends, I offer rare human treasures that Owlbert drags over from your side of the realm." Eda said, patting the owl part of her staff.

"Wait, it has a name?" Carlos asked.

"Of course, all Palismen's have a name. Now, where was I? Right. Most days I only sell the finest homemade potions and elixers." Eda said, as Luz pulled out a bottle.

"'Snake Oil.'" Luz read aloud.

"No one wants an un-oiled snake. Follow me." Eda said, as the siblings followed her. They followed her to a balcony on an upper level.

"Today you'll deliver packages and sell potions to that town over there. Bonesborough." Eda said, pointing to a nearby town. "You'll have to be careful. I have rivals everywhere who'd love to take my business down and you two along with it. You wanted a dangerous, magical quest? Sister, you got one."

"We won't let you down, Miss Eda." Luz said, as she saluted Eda. As she did that, the bag of potions and elixers slipped out of Luz's grasp and was gonna drop down the balcony, if Carlos hadn't reacted quick enough to save them.

"Remember, never befriend a man in sandals and always measure twice, cut once." Eda said, as she pushes the siblings to the front door.

"That's the most confusing advice I've ever heard for a job like this." Carlos said.

"Good luck." Eda said, as she pushed both them out the door and slammed it behind them. She then turned to King, who was napping on a chest next to the front door. "I hate to interrupt your power nap, but you'll have to go with them."

"What? But I just found the perfect spot. Why do I have to go?" King asked.

"You and I both know they're gonna get lost or eaten, probably both." Eda said.

"No we won't./ What!?" Both Luz and Carlos said, looking through the window. Eda then magically closed the curtain on them.

"And because you work for me, too. Unless you want to start paying rent." Eda said. King grumbles in frustration, as he unwillingly went outside with the siblings.

"Be back by nightfall or risk mortal peril." Eda said, closing the door behind the three.

"Have a nice trip." Hooty told them once the door had closed.

"Huh. Let's get this over with." King grumpily said, leading the way while the siblings followed.

We're now in Bonesborough, where we see a huge centipede creature with a human face, along with a slime being with a floating brain and eyes in it pushing a cart with 'Not Dogs' pass by King, Luz and Carlos.

"Whoa." Luz said in amazement.

"Let's just get these things delivered." Carlos said. "Hey, King. Have any other humans been here before?"

"I haven't seen any others." King said.

"Wait, would that mean that I, Luz Noceda, average teen, would have *gasps* a predetermaned path of greatness? Just like Azura." Luz excitedly said.

"Luz, this isn't like your book. This is real life." Carlos told her.

"Yeah. Also, did Azura's path to greatness involve her delivering boil cream?" King dryly remarked, pulling out a bottle of 'Boil b'gone.'

"Today we're delivering packages, but tomorrow I'll be earning the respect of everyone on the Boiling Isles with my magical prowess." Lus said, giving a triumphant stance.

"Ha! Good luck. The Boiling Isles is nothing but a cesspool of despair." King said.

"More like a cesspool of delight." Luz said.

Both siblings continued to deliver the potions and elixers to residents around Bonesborough. One of the houses even had a doorbell that tried eating Luz when she rang it, but Carlos managed to pull her out. They then stopped for a lunch break at the Not Dog vender we saw from before. Carlos was reluctant to try one at first, but he hadn't had anything to eat since they got there and ate it up.

"*sigh* I know I've had enough delight for one day." King said.

"I thought being one of the only humans in a magical world would make me special, but apparently, it just makes everyone want to scream at me or eat me." Luz said, feeling a bit down. "At this point, Azura had already been sent on an enchanted quest. Where's my quest granting wizard?"

"Luz, I told you before. That's a book and this is real life. There probably isn't even a quest granting wizard here." Carlos said.

"Sorry to break it to you, Luz, but no one here is that well-dressed." King told the female Noceda sibling.

"This has been a rough day." Luz said, as she got up. The other two followed suit.

"Let's just deliver this last package and go home." Carlos said. They went down a creepy backstreet to get to their destination.

"Maybe this world isn't what I thought it... *Gasp*" Luz was going to say, as they passed through a curtained doorway to see a nice looking mansion-like castle in front of them. They walked up to the door and rang the doorbell, as the doors opened up for them.

"Big houses always belong to big whack jobs." King said, as he rolled his eyes. "Let's kick the package inside and get outta here."

"Hello?" Luz asked, as she had walked inside, while Carlos followed right behind her. King noticed this and followed them too.

"Hey, wait." He said. the doors then slammed shut, as King got a little freaked out and kept following the siblings. They had walked into a big, dark room.

"We're delivering a package from Miss Eda the Owl Lady. Huh?" Luz said. All of a sudden, the lights turned on, revealing a huge library with a staircase leading up to a doorway. Above the doorway was a picture of a wizard that looked very similar to Albus Dumbledore, but with pointy ears.

Out of the doorway came the same man. He wore a long, purple wizard robes with yellow stars, a purple wizard hat, pink sandles and half-moon spectacles. He also had a silvery-gray beard and silvery-gray hair.

"*Gasp* Today just got good." Luz giddily said, as she got a big smile on her face. "Magical wizard."

"A weird old man in jim-jams." King said, uninterrested. The old wizard then came down the stairs.

"I was in my Oscillarium, reading the stars. And who might you be, with eye full of curiosity" The old wizard asked, directing most of his attention to Luz.

'Weird, it's daytime outside. How could he be reading the stars right now?' Carlos thought.

"Uh, I'm..." Luz was about to introduce herself, when the wizard interrupted.

"Young lady, dareth I say, I sense something unique about you." He said. "Please, would you join me for tea?" As he asked that, he magically brought out some chairs and a table with some tea and treats on it. Luz was in awestruck from this wizard, but King and Carlos were sceptical of him, King more than Carlos.

"Okay." Luz agreed, as she was about to head to one of the chairs when King held her back by grabbing one of her legs.

"Let's scram. Wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets." King said. To prove a point, the siblings looked to the wizard, as he did indeed pull glitter out of one of his pockets. "I don't trust him."

"But the stars on his robe are sparkling. And look. There's a baby fox in his beard." Luz said. They looked at the wizard again, as there was indeed a baby fox in his beard. How it got there, no one knows.

"I don't know, Luz. I don't really trust this guy." Carlos said, then added. "Heck, I trust Eda more than him, and we have only known her for a day."

"See, even Carlos doesn't like this guy." King said.

"Fine, then miss out with those scones on the table." Luz said, as she walked towards one of the seats.

"Where!?" King excitedly said, as he heads towards the table. He jumped up and started eating the treats.

'Guess he really likes scones." Carlos thought.

"We'd like to join you for tea." Luz said, as she sat in one of the seats and picked up a cup of tea. She then looked to her right and saw a try full of potions. "Do you sell potions, Sir Wizard?" She asked.

"Please, call me Adegast. And yes, I run a small business." The man, now named Adegast, said.

"You should run a small buisness of more scones into my mouth. Ha-ha, yes!" King said, as he laughed at what he thought was a good burn.

"I'm surprised to see you here. It was my understanding that Eda delivered the packages herself." Adegast said.

"Well, I'm kinda, sorta her apprentice." Luz said with a big smile on her face.

"In a way, we both are."Carlos said. He decided not to sit with them, as he was leaning against a railing.

"Oh, and how are you finding the experience so far?" Adegast said, as he kept his attention to Luz. It was like he wasn't paying too much attention to Carlos or King.

"*Sigh* Can I be honest with you, Mr. Adegast? When I decided to stay in this magical world, I thought I was meant for something special. But Eda thinks I'm meant for chores, and I'm afraid I came to the wrong place." Luz said, as she sadly looked down at her tea. Adegast got up and walked towards her.

"Hmm. I have a quest..."

"A quest?" Luz excitedly asked, interrupting Adegast and shot up, breaking the cup of tea in the process.

"You did't let me finish. I have a question." Adegast said.

"Oh." Luz said.

"Would you like to go on a quest?" Adegast asked.

"Yes." Luz excitedly answered. Adegast then pulled out a scroll from his beard.

"I might have just the thing." Adegast said, as he unrolled the scroll, revealling some sort of map. "The prophecy spreaks of a young human girl who will claim the Celestial Staff and free this world from an ancient evil."

"That's oddly specific for a prophecy. What makes you think this Celestial Staff is real?" Carlos asked.

"You see, the prophecy also speaks of a beloved sibling that joins the young human girl that helps her retreve the Celestial Staff. Perhaps thou both hath cometh here for a reason." Adegast said. Carlos was skeptical about this prophecy, but Luz believed him.

"Perhaps we hath." She said.

"Should you believe yourselves worthy to attempt this quest..." Adegast started

"So worthy." Luz said.

"...you need to know the road is dark and perilous..." Adegast continued.

"Love peril. Big fan of peril." Luz eagarly said.

"...and only the Chosen One can pull the staff from its post." Adegast finished. This gave Luz a lot of thought.

"Neat story. Awesome. Anyway, your food is gone and we are, too." King said.

"Yes, we have to go and pack for this enchanted quest. I'm in." Luz said.

"Wonderful." Adegast happily said. King and the Noceda siblings then all head back to Eda's place, as Luz starts packing for this quest.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Luz, you can't be serious. Who knows if this quest is even real." Carlos said.

"C'mon, Carlos. You heard what he said. This could be a pretty big adventure for us." Luz said, not listening to reason. "So, King, what kind of Chosen One should I be?"

"*Yawn* Huh? What?" King asked, as he wasn't really paying attention.

"Should I be full of optimism and goodness, like the good witch Azura? Or should I be like a bad girl Chosen One with black nail polish and a mysteriously withdrawn attitude?" Luz asked, as she started talking like a bad girl. That's when Eda popped in.

"Oh, you guys talking about bad girls? Wait. What's going on?" She asked. She was carrying a blue arm with a bone sticking out at the end.

"Eda, tell Luz how dumb wizards are." King said.

"Ugh! Wizards are the worst. Never trust a man in casual drapery. Why?" Eda asked.

"Your wizard client told Luz that she and Carlos... were Chosen Ones." King said between fits of laughter.

"Wait, wait. Luz and Carlos?" Eda asked, as she joined in on the laughter.

"He even gave Luz a map." King said while still laughing.

"Let mee see this map." Eda said, as she was now done laughing and walked towards Luz.

"That guy said some stupid prophecy about a human girl finding a staff of some sort with her sibling. I don't really find it to be true." Carlos said after the laughter died down.

"At least you have some sense on your shoulders." Eda said. Luz then handed her the map. "You didn't think this was real, did you?" She asked.

"What?" Luz asked, confused.

"This map is bunk. There's no lake with a Celestial Staff on the Boiling Isles. I would've stolen it ages ago." Eda said.

"See, told you it couldn't be real." Carlos said. Luz then looked down, saddened. Eda noticed this.

"Eh, don't worry. Couple more months here and you won't look like such a mark." Eda said, scruffing Luz's hair.

"Can I have some time alone." Luz said, brushing away Eda's hand. Eda shrugged, as she, King and Carlos left the room. "Maybe they were right. Huh?"

Luz loooked at the 'map' Eda gave back to her, as on a part that had light on it revealed the word 'One.' Luz then held the rest of the 'map' to the light. It read 'The Chosen One. The path will only appear to the worthy.' Luz had read the last part aloud to herself.

"*Gasp* That's why Eda couldn't see , am I really worthy?" Luz asked herself. That's when the wind blew in, blowing the 'map' to her open Azura book. "I'll never know unless I try."

"Then I guess you can't go alone." Said a voice. Luz looked up to see Carlos standing at the door alone.

"Wah! How long have you been standing there?" Luz asked.

"Long enough to know you'll be going no matter what. I might as well go with you to make sure you stay out of trouble." Carlos told her.

"Then let's go." Luz said. We then cut to the living room, where Eda and King were.

"Finally. All that mean-spirited laughter made me sleepy." King said, as he got comfortable on the couch.

"Crony, wake up. You said that wizard was one of my clients?" Eda asked, as she stood in front of King.

"Yes. Now go away." King said with annoyance.

"I don't know him that well, and I don't trust this itch he's scratchingin the human." Eda said, as she sat on the couch.

"Less talky, more nappy." King said.

Eda looked in the direction of the stairs, as she went upstairs to check on Luz. "Hey, Luz?" When Eda got to the room Luz was staying in, she wasn't there. Heck, she hadn't seen Carlos since the fake map ordeal. She then saw the open window. "Oh, nuts."

She then went to the window and called out. "Hooty, where'd they go?" She asked the owl-like demon, who stretched up to her.

"Hoot, hoot. If you want the answer you seek, solve my riddle within a week. Oh!" Hooty said, until Eda slammed a fist into the house's outer wall, cracking it. "Okay, Okay. They went into the forest towards Boneborough. Sheesh."

"Ugh." Eda growned, as she went back in.

Meanwhile, on the Bonesborough city limits, Luz and Carlos were standing next to a stone sign that was on a cliff. The sign read 'Leaving Bonesborough, city limits' as it was surrounded by some pink flesh-like substance that had eyes and spikes coming from it. Luz was also carrying a toy sword on her back.

"Why did you bring that toy sword with you?" Carlos asked.

"Because I thought it would be useful on our first mythical quest." Luz said, as she starts sliding down the cliff.

"Whatever you say." Carlos said, as he followed suit. They both got to the bottom of the cliff, as they start going through the forest. Not long after they get in, a lot of fog rolls in. "Where'd all this fog come from?"

"I don't know, but it isn't gonna stop us." Luz said, as she kept going forward. After a bit of time, both siblings entered a village that had walking cats in different outfits. There was even a fountain in the middle of the village.

"What is this place?" Carlos asked.

"I don't know, but all these cats look so cute." Luz said, as she was gushing at how cute the cats were.

Suddenly, out of the fountain came a boy that was about Luz's age. He had a well-toned body for his age. He wore a forest green sleeveless v-neck shirt with a white collar, a red and gold sashe going up to his left shoulder, a golden armor piece on his left shoulder, black fingerless gloves, white pants with a red belt and combat boots. He also had an eyepatch covering his right eye and a sword at his hip.

He also had flowing hair, had brown eyes and was starting to growing a mustache and a goatee.

"I see. So you're the Chosen Ones." He scoffed. "The Celestial Staff should've picked me. Nevareth Bladestrife, teen prince of Angstmore."

'What is with this guy?' Carlos thought to himself.

"I knew I made the right choice." Luz said, as she was starting to fall for his good looks and his muscular physique.

"Really, Luz?" Carlos deadpanned.

Back with Eda and King, King was leading Eda to the place where he met the wizard client with Carlos and Luz.

"This is where we met the scones. I mean, wizard." King said, correcting himself on the last part. He pointed to the doorway that lead them to the place. "Whoa. It wasn't like this before." He said, as Eda drew back the curtains.

When she did, it revealed the place King had saw with Carlos and Luz before now in ruins. Parts of the place crumbling, along with some dead plants. One part of the building broke and fell to the ground. Saying it seen better days was an understatement.

"I don't like this." Eda said. They both then walked up to the ruined place and entered, as they saw the same library from before, but it was also in ruins. Eda's foot then bumped into the same map Luz had. "I really don't like this."

Back with Luz and Carlos, they continued traveling, thought they were accompanied by Nevareth and his little animal companion. It looked like an onion with legs, batwings and a face.

Nevareth, your vengeful backstory is so compelling, and I'm loving your animal sidekick." Luz said, walking next to the warrior and adoring the small animal. Carlos was a few pases behind them, not really trusting this Nevareth guy.

"After my village was consumed, my heart has known nothing but vengeance." Nevareth had finished his supposed backstory.

"Nevareth." Luz said, somewhat dreamily.

"Lady Luz, do you think love can bloom on the battlefield?" Nevareth asked.

"Woo-hoo-hoo! This quest is questing in all the right ways."Luz swooned.

"Hey, back off my sister, companero." Carlos said, getting in between Luz and Nevareth.

"Carlos!" Luz complained.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to be so straightforward." Nevareth said, backing up a bit.

They kept going on their adventure, as they came upon a bridge. They all started to cross, until they were stopped and startled by a gray cat that was wearing a brown hood, brown boots and light brown gloves. The cat had a crazy look to him, as he also had a nametag on his hood.

" pass the bridge, you must first solve my riddle." The cat said.

"Really, a riddle?" Carlos asked.

"C'mon, Carlos. It could be fun. Hit me, little furry man." Luz said to the cat.

"Your quest shal stop if you fail this game. So, tell me, my dear, what is my name?" The cat asked. Luz then looked at the nametag on the cat's hood, which showed the name 'Chris' on it.

"Uh... Chris?" Luz asked.

"That's it. You may cross the bridge. And please take this, Chosen One. It shall help you on your journey." The cat named Chris said, as he gave Luz a ring with a round, blue gemstone in it.

"Wow. This is amazing. Thank you." Luz thanked Chris, as she put the ring on her left index finger.

"Do you need a cape?" Nevareth asked Luz.

"Nah, I think I'm good." Luz said, as she put the ring on.

"You can use my shirt." Nevareth said, as he took off his shirt.

"Yes, I need a cape." Luz said, as Nevareth put his shirt on Luz like a cape.

Carlos seriously wanted to punch this guy's lights out, but he didn't want to disappoint Luz by leaving this quest early. So, he bit his tongue and held back.

"Three cheers for the Chosen Ones." Nevareth said, as he, Chris and the animal sidekick started cheering for the two siblings.

We then bring our attention back to Eda and King, who arrived at the same village Luz and Carlos had been to, but there was one difference: The village was in ruins just like the house Abegast supposedly lived in.

"Oh, no." Eda said, then asked. "Are you sure they came here?"

"Can't mistake their smell. Like lemons and young, naive confidence for Luz. Also, body spray and overprotective older sibling from Carlos." King said, as he was sniffing the scents of Carlos and Luz.

"Hmm." Eda said, as she walked towards the fountain. In the fountain was a lot of overgrown vines and a cat puppet. "Hey, wake up you. What have you done with Luz and Carlos? What's your endgame?" She asked.

"To find your pupils and still your wrath, look ahead and follow the path." The puppet said, as it then disintegrated everything but its eyes.

"*Gasp* The cat man melted." King said in shock.

"It's a trap. They want me to follow Luz and Carlos." Eda said.

So what do we do?" King asked.

"Hmm." Eda thought.

Back with Luz and Carlos, they were now coming out of a fairy village, as evidence by the little fairy that was with them.

"Thanks for inviting me to your feast, Princess. All your food was so tiny and cute." Luz said, talking to the fairy.

"For you, Chosen One." Princess said, as she magically made a couple of bracelets appear and gave them to Luz. Luz put them on her left wrist.

"Thank you. You have all been so kind and thoughtful." Luz said.

'Yeah, a bit too kind and thoughtful.' Carlos thought.

"I hope this quest never ends!" Luz excitedly said.

"Your quest will soon come to an end, for the staff you seek is around the bend." Chris said.

"Thanks for ruining the mood, Chris." Luz said, annoyed that the quest will be ending sooner than she thought.

"Go on, Chosen One. The Celestial Staff is yours. You've earned it." Nevareth said. Him and the others were more focused on Luz now, as she was the only one dedicated to this quest.

They all bid Luz farewell, as she and Carlos went onwards by themselves.

"Man, those guys were weirdos." Carlos said once they were out of earshot.

"And what's wrong with weirdos?" Luz asked, feeling a bit hurt and annoyed.

"Nothing. It's just that they were acting more strange than anyone else we've seen here." Carlos said.

Soon, they came up to a body of water with a stone platform in the middle of it. On that platform was a staff with a glowing blue crystal. Once they got close to the bank of the water, stone platforms rose from the water, making a bridge.

"I knew this world wasn't all gloom and doom like Eda and King said." Luz said.

"Wait, so this staff is real? I thought that crazy wizard was making it up." Carlos said. Both him and Luz then start walking to the staff. Just as Luz reached for the staff, Carlos stopped her.

"Hey, why'd you stop me? We could just take the staff." Luz said, confused.

"Haven't you noticed this quest has been too easy? If this were a real quest, wouldn't we have fought a few monsters here and there in the process?" Carlos asked, bringing up a point.

"Hey, yeah. If I were the Chosen One, I would've fought at least one or two monsters on the way." Luz said.

Suddenly, things changed around them. First, the staff had disintegrated into smoke. Next, the plants at their feet followed. Then, the leaves on the trees did the same thing. Last, the water disappeared from the body of water, while the water leading to it receded back.

Back with Eda and King, they were riding on Eda's staff to go get Luz and Carlos.

"I know this guy. He's no wizard. He's what you'd call a puppeteer, a demon who specializes in scamming and manipulating people. He's trying to use Carlos and Luz to get to me." Eda said.

"Yeah. And we're flying dirrectly into his trap. Hurray." King sarcastically said.

"If you can think of a better plan, I'd love to hear it." Eda scolded. "Hey. Faster, you." She slapped her staff, as it started to fly faster.

Back with Carlos and Luz, they were being surrounded by the same fog they saw earlier. Suddenly, a figure started coming out of the fog behind them.

"Luz the human and her sibling, Carlos." Said the figure, as they turned around to see none other than the wizard from before.

"Magical wizard?" Luz asked.

"See, I told you I didn't trust him." Carlos said.

"You might have figured out my trick, but you won't get away, witch apprentices." Adegast said, his voice changing in tone and he began laughing maniacally. A big creature came out from the mist, revealing to be the true voice. He was a big, gray octopus-like demon with four eyes and lipless mouth, which revealed his teeth. This was the true Adegast.

It's also revealed that he was behind every character Luz and Carlos met, as every puppet of them popped out of the ground.

"I knew these guys seemed weirder than normal." Carlos said.

"Okay, I get it. You were right, I was wrong. Now let's focus on not getting killed." Luz said, as she was protecting herself with the toy sword she brought along.

"The boy may not have been easily tricked, but the girl was." Adegast said, as the accessories Luz wore magically binded to her upper arms/torso, her wrists and her fingers. This made her drop her sword.

"No!" Luz shouted out.

"Let her go!" Carlos said, as he picked up the sword and pointed it at Adegast.

"I don't think I will. You see, your mentor has been stealing customers from my potions business for years. She must be destroyed." Adegast said.

"Really? You lead us here because Eda took your business from you?" Carlos asked.

"Does everyone have a beef with Eda?" Luz asked, which the puppets all said yes.

"And you two lured her right into my trap, all because the girl wanted to feel special." Adegast said.

"No. Joke's on you. Eda isn't stupid enough to fall for your trap." Luz said.

"Adegast." Came the voice of Eda, as she came flying in.

"Aw, heck." Both sibling said.

"Eda, I have you now." Adegast said, as he sprouted tenticles from the ground with puppets that captured Eda and King when they landed.

"Yeah, you got me. Release Luz and Carlos." Eda said.

"I didn't have to be a part of this." King shouted.

"Oh, they can leave if they want to, but I sense the girl wants a real fantasy." Adegast said, as he covered Luz in a purple smoke.

"Luz! What did you do?!" Carlos asked.

"Oh, just giving her the fantasy she wants." Adegast said. "And I think I will have you captured, too." Just as Adagast was about to capture Carlos with the Nevareth puppet, until Carlos used the sword to slice through Adegast's tenticle, making him scream out in pain.

This also got Luz to break out of the illusion the gas put her in. As Adegast was screaming in pain, Carlos cut through all the tenticles that had puppets on them, edven the ones holding Eda and King hostage. He then threw the sword at Adegast, as it pierced his head and made him shrink down to the size of a regular-sized octopus.

"Well, that's the last time I take an outside referral." Eda said, as she then ate Adegast in this form. "Mmm. Oh, did either of you want some of that?"

"No. I'm just confused." Luz said.

"Thinking of calling it quits, huh?" Eda asked.

"This place is nothing like I imagined." Luz said.

"Luz, I know you were probably expecting this to be like your book, but you have to face the facts. This place isn't the same fantasy world as that." Carlos said, putting a hnad on her shoulder.

"Hmm. Maybe not here, but come with me. I want to show you both something." Eda said, as she lead the way.

We are now on Eda's staff, as the sun was setting. Both Luz and Carlos were blindfolded, but they were making sure to hold on.

"Okay, you both can look." Eda said, as they both took off their blindfolds.

"Whoa." Both of them said.

"The Bones of the Isles. Up close, the Isles can be slimy." Eda started.

"And very stinky." King continued.

"And gross." Eda finished. She then added. "But if you look at it from a different perspective..."

"It's beautiful." Luz said.

"Yeah." King agreed.

"Eda, how'd you know that wizard was lying?" Luz asked.

"Look, kid, everyone wants to believe they're 'chosen,' but if we all waited around for a prophecy to make us special, we'd die waiting, and that's why you need to choose yourself." Eda said.

"There's some advice I can understand." Carlos joked, getting a laugh out of Luz and King, while getting an eye roll and a smile from Eda.

"So, does that mean you'll give me a magic staff of my own?" Luz asked Eda.

"Not yet, but someday." Eda said, then added. "And your brother will get one someday, too"

They then all continued looking into the sunset.
