A Witch Convention
Hello everyone and welcome back to The Owl House: The Bro Files. I know the recent chapters I put up were fast and the last one had some spelling errors, so I will make sure to slow down a bit and make sure words are spelled as best as I can do. Trust me, I grew up knowing english, as being 30 should let me know how to spell, right?
Anyways, as you can tell, Eda and the gang are gonna go to a witches convention. Who's gonna be there? What trouble will the Noceda's get into? How much more will Eda gross us out? Let's find out in this chapter!
We start off at Eda's 'Human Collecibles' stand, where Eda was dusting, Luz was reading her Azura book to King and Carlos was leaning against one of the shelves containing human items. To say he was bored out of his mind was an understatement.
"'Emboldened by the dishonor Hecate had shown, Azura lifted her staff to the cotton-candy skies and shouted, 'I challenge you to a Witch's Duel.''" Luz read from her book, then added. "And look. I drew a flip book." She did a 'Pew-Pew' noise as she flipped a corner of a page to show Azura and Hecate fighting.
"Show me the picture." King said, as he wanted to see what Luz drew,
"What?" Luz asked, as she didn't hear him the first time.
"Show me the picture." King repeated, as Luz showed him the picture.
"Huh! I can draw better than that. You know, they once called me the King of Artists." King boasted.
"I'm sure they did." Carlos said.
"Wait. I thought you were the King of Demons. Are you just making this up now?" Luz asked.
"Doesn't matter. What's important is that my followers would leave me offering in fear of me." King said, trying to make himself look and sound terrifying.
"Well, I can offer you more of this tantalizing book." Luz said, pulling her Azura book back out. This made Eda groan.
"Please stop reading that. Its flowery language is an insult to witches and driving away all our serious customers." Eda said.
"Um, Eda? What customers?" Carlos asked, as we zoom out to see Eda's stand was the only stand there and there were no customers in sight.
"There aren't even any other stands around. What's going on?" Luz asked. That's when Eda had one of her bad feelings.
"This is a bad omen. There must be something horrible happening today." Eda said.
"Luz, Carlos, something amazing is happening today." Came the voice of Gus, as he and Willow came walking up to Eda's stand.
"Gus, Willow. Hey." Luz greeted.
"What are you two doing here?" Carlos asked.
"It's the annual convention. Student witches get to see all the types of covens before they're placed in one. There's even a mystery guest this year." Willow said, showing a poster for a convention and that there was indeed a mystery guest.
"A job fair for witches. Eda, can we go?" Luz asked, leaning into Eda.
"Absolutely not." Eda said, making Luz groan in sadness. "I never joined a coven for a reason. Sure, it's like a fun club for witches, but you're also giving up your magical independance to be part of a crooked system."
"I say we should go. It beats standing here, waiting for nonexisting customers to show up." Carlos said, then added. "Plus, I'm bored out of my mind just standing here with nothing to do."
"I say no. Besides, I haven't been to one since we were girls." Eda said, letting something slip.
"'We'?" Carlos asked.
"I mean..."
"Who's 'we'? You have a mysterious past. Now we gotta go." Luz said, more determined to go.
"No." Eda said, having her mind set.
"Okay. Then you leave me no choice." Luz said, motioning to King who picked up Luz's Azura book and began reading.
"'You shall not shan't doeth no harm,' Azura callethed out.."
"So flowery, so awful." Eda said, as King kept reading. She opened the portal door and walked through, but before it could close, Luz threw a reading King through it as it closed. It immediately opened back up, as Eda stepped back out with a reading King on her head.
"Stop it. Stop it. I will literally do anything to stop this." Eda said in defeat. This made Carlos laugh, as it was the most entertainment he had so far today.
We now are at a huge building with a red roof, as this was where the convention was being held. Eda groaned, as everyone else was excited to be here. Eda then was trying to put up a hood from her cowl, but she was struggling with all the hair she had.
"Gotta keep a low profile." She said between grunts. Luz then tried helping her.
"Is this cowl really necessary?" She asked, trying to push Eda's hair in.
"Do you think all my wanted posters are for petty theft?" Eda asked, as they finally got the hood of the cowl up, only for jewelry and other things to fall out.
"I'm starting to think that's only one of the many reasons." Carlos said aloud.
"Quiet, you. Though, it's partly true. But the big whammy is I disobayed the law and refused to join a coven." Eda said, while stuffing the stolen things back into her cowl. "If I'm seen, I could go to jail. Again."
"Maybe this informative event will inspire you to join a coven." Willow said, only for Eda to magically pull Willow's cowl hood over her head.
"I think that was a 'No.'" Carlos said, as he helped Willow with her hood.
"Let's get this over with." Eda said, not pleased with this one bit. They all entered, as Luz was the most amazed from this.
"Whoa! Was I even alive before now?" Luz asked, as we got a good look inside.
There were stalls everywhere, as we even see nine banners of the nine covens hanging up. The nine covens from left to right were Healing, Plant, Beast Keeping, Oracle, Construction, Bard, Illusion, Abomination and Potions.
"What are those?" Carlos asked.
"Those are the main nine covens, but there are hundreds of other ones you can join." Gus said, as they continued walking.
"There's Flower Coven, Artist Coven, Big Dog Coven, Little Cat Coven, Tiniest Cat Coven..." Before Willow could continue, Eda interrupted her with a groan of disinterest. "Also the Grumpy Coven."
"What was that?" Eda asked, as the kids ran off with a whimper coming from Willow. That's when a bald man approached Eda.
"Ah, excuse me, ma'am, but you look rather familiar." He said, as he then looked at the wanted poster next to Eda.
"Uh, no, I don't. Distraction spell." Eda said, as she threw down of a small bag of Hex Mix on the ground and ran. The man was about to pick up the Hex Mix, until Eda came back and covered his eyes with his hood, as she then picked the Hex Mix back up and ran off again. She then rejoined the kids.
"Ooh, what's that?" Luz asked, as she pointed to a construction witch. He had piles of bricks and wood with him. Tinella was there to watch him make a house.
"That's the Construction Coven." Willow said. The witch there then tossed the wood and bricks into the air, as the then land and magically formed a house. "One of the main nine. They use power glyphs to increase their strength."
The Construction Coven witch pulled out a power glyph sticker from his hat and placed in on Tinella's nose. She then yelled with the power she gained.
"Ah, I'm the destroyer of worlds." Tinella said, as she starts destroying the area. The rest of the Construction Coven then tried stopping her.
"Yowza-wowzer." Luz said. Suddenly, a blue clone of Luz came out of her and said the same exact thing.
"What? Two Luz's? That's so cool." Carlos said. The clone Luz then went over to the Illusionist Coven stand and disappeared. "An illusion? Even cooler."
"Ah, you've been taken in by the allure of the Illusionist Coven. We like to magic with the hint of showmanship." Gus said, as he disappeared in one poof of smoke, then reappeared in another one.
"Wow! Acceptance? Camaraderie? A sense of belonging? Covens sound incredible." Luz excitedly exclaimed, then turned to Eda and asked. "Eda, why haven't you ever joined one?"
"Yeah. You say they're stupid, but they actually sound kinda fun." Carlos added.
"Watch closely, you two." Eda said, directing their attention back to the Illusionist Coven tent. "When you join a coven, all your other magic is sealed away." She said, as we see a random kid with pimples and curly dark blue hair getting the Illusion symbol, meaning he was now in the Illusionist Coven.
"From now on, that kid will only be able to make illusions. Since I never joined a coven, I can do every kind of magic." Eda said, as she made a fireball, followed by a waterball. She then made them disappear. "That's why I'm the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles."
Luz, Carlos, Willow and Gus all followed her. King was going to do the same, until he felt a hand on his shoulder. When he looked to see who the hand belonged to, he saw it belonged to a witch that was in the Oricle Coven.
"The tea leaves foretell that this will lead you to your destiny." She said, as she handed him a pen that had the words Fortune Teller on it.
"Destiny? Pfft. I'm not paying for..." King scoffed.
"It's free." The Oricle girl ominously said, as she walked off.
"Are you bestowing gifts upon me? Yes. I accept your offering. The King of Demons is back." King said aloud, as people looked at him.
We're back with the main group, as they were heading to a door with a different sygil than the other covens had, as they see witches entering the door.
"That panel looks popular." Luz said.
"That's the Emperor's Coven. Do you think they'll sign my forehead?" Gus excitedly asked with a gasp.
"Only one way to find out." Willow said, as she and Gus race for the door. Luz and Carlos start following them, until they noticed Eda wasn't coming.
"Aren't you coming, Eda?" Luz asked, pointing towards the door.
"No way." Eda said, turning away.
"Why not?" Carlos asked.
"Because of all the covens, they're the worst. I'll wait out here." Eda said.
"We got it, Eda. Covens bad. Individualism good. But we're still figuring this world out, so we're going in there and make up our minds, okay?" Luz said, as she and Carlos head in.
"I just saw her."
"Huh?" Eda asked, turning her head and seeing the same guy from before with her wanted poster talking to a guard.
"I think that's her over there." The man said, pointing to Eda.
"Uh-oh! Kids, wait up." Eda said, entering the room with the kids.
We're now in a big stadium area, where there was quite a crowd present. Eda had found Luz and Carlos sitting together, as she joined them.
"All right, let's see this mess." She said, uninterrested. That's when the show started, as we see Principal Bump appear on the stage.
"Hello, Bonesborough. Students ask me all the time, 'Principal Bump, what's the height of magical achievement?'" Bump started off into a microphone.
"Is it this?" One kid asked, as he used magic to make his head grow over twice in size and land on the kid next to him. This caused a bit of concern with Bump and the audience.
"Wow! I failed you as a principal." Bump said, as he then continued. "It's being selected to join best of the best. And there are none better than the jewel of the coven system and the enforcers of will, the Emperor's Coven." Some Emperor Coven guards magically appear as Bump said that.
"Whoa." Luz said in amazement, as the audience cheered. She then looked over to Willow and Gus, as she sees that the Emperor's Coven actually signed Gus's forehead.
"Feast your eyes on this elite force, each member handpicked to help usher in a new age of controlled magic." Bump continues into the microphone, as the guards made magic circles that shot fire, lightning and some kind of blue magic in the air.
"When does that elite force get here?" Eda joked to a yellow demon person that had wing-like arms and horns. She laughed at her own joke, as the demon scooched away.
"All members of the Emperor's Coven have access to all, yes, all forms of magic. Ohh! Ahh!" Bump continued, as the crowd repeated the last two words he said. "But only the best can ascend these ranks. Someday that could be one of you." He said, as he randomly pointed to Amity, who was apart of the crowd.
"Me!" Amity squealed in excitement.
Both the Noceda sibings noticed she was there, as this didn't spell too good for them.
"Huh?" Luz asked, as Eda was laughing next to her.
"This can't be too good if she's here with us." Carlos said, mostly to himself.
"And now, I am pleased to introduce the esteemed leader of this coven and this year's mystery guest. You know her, you love her. Lilith." Bump finished.
"Huh?" Eda asked once she stopped laughing.
Suddenly, a raven on what looked like a branch in blue lights appeared near the ceiling. The raven then flew down and landed on the stage, as a light revealed Lilith dressed in the Emperor's Coven clothing was in the raven. The raven had then disappeared, as Lilith had taken off her mask, revealing a very beautiful pale face. She wore some make-up, as a couple strands of her black hair came out of the sides of her hood.
The crowd was cheering for her, as then Carlos and Luz noticed Eda looking at Lilith in disbelief.
"You know her?" Carlos asked.
"You could say that." Eda said, still gazing at Lilith.
"Mysterious past." Luz gasped.
"Thank you, all. It wasn't easy for me to rise to the top. I also started from humble beginnings." Lilith began saying, as she took her cloak off and revealed her long, flowing hair.
"Like me?" The kid that grew his head asked.
"Now I have the highest honor of enforcing the Emperor's will. Be more. The Emperor's Coven awaits you." Lilith finished, as she used her magic to make another raven with its wings open. The magic raven then popped into a bunch of magic bubbles.
Once all that was over, Eda had left the Emperor's Coven panel, as Luz and Carlos followed her.
"Eda, where are you going?" Carlos asked.
"I'm gonna go home and wash the con funk off my skin." Eda said, as she was now starting to have enough with the convention.
"But we haven't even taken the quiz to determine our coven type." Luz said, holding up a magazine with a coven quiz in it. Eda then magically blasted a hole through it with a magic blast, as she then left the two behind. Luz then took a look at the magazine and started walking.
"Ohh, a punky potionist." Luz said, as she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and bumped into Amity.
"Watch where you're... Oh, it's you two. Willow's abomination things." Amity said, as she realized who had bumped into her.
"Ah, hey, Amity. So, funny story. Not an abomination. Sorry for the confusion last week. I'm Luz. The human. And this is my brother, Carlos. Hi." Lus introduced while apologizing, as she extended a hand out for a handshake.
"Ugh! Put that away." Amity said, slapping Luz's hand away. "You're the one's that got me in trouble with Principal Bump, and I never get in trouble." She then started walking away.
"Hey, she was just trying to make amends with what happened last week." Carlos said, as he and Luz starts following her.
"And to be fair, you were okay with Bump disecting my brother, so..." Luz added to the mix. This was only starting to make things worse.
"You two can't be here. This convention is for witches only." Amity said, getting more mad at the siblings.
"Look, my sister and I can't do magic like you or any other witch here, but at least we're learning how to be witches our own way." Carlos said, as he then added. "Also, I'm not too fond of your attitude towards us or others."
"Yeah, we're learning magic from a powerful witch and a ferocious demon." Luz said. That's when Amity looked behind the siblings.
"Is that your ferocious demon there?" She asked. The Noceda sibling looked behind them to see King had recieved a few 'offerings' from different covens. He even had a cupcake from the Baker's Coven, as a couple witches from that coven were following him.
"Cupcakes in my tummy-tum makes a king say yummy-yum." He said.
"So, will you join the Baker's Coven?" A dark-skinned, plump female witch asked King, as he ate his cupcake and took another.
"Mmm... Nope." He said, running off. He then ran into Luz, Carlos and Amity. "Oh, hey Luz, Carlos. Look at all these offerings." He said, as he then slips on the scarf her was wearing, making the cupcake he was holding fall from his paws and onto the floor. Luz and Carlos went to help King up and as Carlos went to reach for King's cupcake, Amity purposely stepped on it.
"Oops. That was an accident." She lied.
"Why are you being so mean, Amity?" Luz asked, as she was starting to get upset with her behavior.
"Because you, your brother and your pet are giving witches-in-training a bad name." Amity told her.
"Hey, I am not a pet!" King exclaimed, as he started scratching himself like a dog.
"He's a very good boy and the King of Demons. I''l tell you what, Amity. It's one thing to say Carlos or I can't be a witch..."
"'Cause you can't." Amity Interrupted.
"...but it's another thing to bully my friends. Just like the good witch Azura said when facing down her rival Hecate at the Bog of Immediate Regret, I challenge you to a witch's duel." Luz declared, as Carlos slapped his face at what Luz was declaring, while everyone else around them gasped at it.
"I accept." Amity said, as she got close to Luz's face.
"Luz is screwed." Carlos said in a voice only King could hear.
"Huh?" He asked, as Carlos gave him a look that made King then remember they only knew one spell. "Oh... Yeah, she's screwed."
"Let's set the terms for this duel, shall we?" Amity asked.
"One, if I win, you apologize to King for squashing his cupcake." Luz said, pointing to King holding the squashed cupcake.
"Good night, sweet child." King sadly said, as Carlos comforted him by patting his back.
"And two, you admit that humans can be witches too." Luz said, finalizing her terms.
"Fine by me. But when I win, not only do you have to tell the whole convention you and you're brother are not witch's, but you two have to stop training forever." Amity said, setting her terms.
"Do it, Luz. For my honor." King said, squishing the rest of the cupcake in his paws.
"Fine. Let's shake on it." Luz said, extending a hand out for a handshake. Amity made a pink magical circle around Luz's hand, as she then accepted the handshake, meaning the duel was official.
"The everlasting oath is sealed." Amity said, taking her hand back and the magic circle faded away.
"That's probably fine." Luz told herself.
"Meet back inside the theater in one hour. Let's see what kind of witch you are." Amity said, as she left. That's when Luz started feeling the stress of the situation.
"Guys, I can win this, right?" She asked, turning to Carlos and King.
"Well, as we know only one spell that isn't offensive in the slightest, I'd say no." Carlos told her.
"I agree with Carlos on this." King said, as he was now eating the squashed cupcake off the ground. This made Luz even more worried.
We meet back up with Eda, as she was trying to leave unnoticed. That's when a feminine voice called out in her direction.
"Sister?" The voice asked, as Eda turned to find Lilith there, signing autographs for children. "It's been so long since I seen you last. What are you wearing?" She then finished with the autographs, as she then walked towards Eda with the kids following her.
"You look like some sort of trash collector. Oh, right. You are." Lilith slyly remarked to Eda.
"Oh, Lily, I just had to see the leader of the Emperor's Coven in action." Eda said, as she leaned down to the kids and added. "You know, when we were kids, Lilith was so excited to see the Emperor's Coven, she peed a little." This comment made Lilith blush, as the kids laughed at that.
"That's all for today." Lilith told the kids, as she shooed them away. She then turned back to Eda. "You shouldn't even be here. You're a wanted criminal. Unless... I don't believe it. You're here to join the Emperor's Coven." Lilith said with a gasp. This made Eda burst out laughing.
"In your dreams." Eda said while still laughing.
"You think being coven-less makes you so much smarter than everyone else. But while you run from the law like a degenerate, I'm mentoring the next generation of powerful witch students into the world." Lilith gloated.
"Well, I have two students. And I bet one of them could wipe the floor with any of your prissy little blue bloods." Eda said, gloating even further.
"Is that a challenge?" Lilith asked, getting closer to Eda.
"Oh, it's a promise." Eda said. That's when Luz popped up between them, seperating the two sisters. Carlos had appeared on the sidelines
"Eda, I need your help. I accidentally challenged Amity to a witch's duel, and I think she's going to kill me all the way dead." She said, falling to her knees.
"Mmm. It seems one of your student's has met my strongest protege. And look at those ears. Is she human?" Lilith asked, as she got a look at Luz's ears, the up at Carlos. She then scoffed. "Where did you get not only one, but two of these. Okay, Edalyn." Lilith then magically made all fo Eda's wanted posters disappear.
"For one day, you don't have to hide from the law, because I want to see how good a teacher you really are." Lilith said, as she then left.
"Come on, kid. Time to prepare for bloodshed." Eda said, as she knelt down and put an arm around Luz's shoulder.
"But who's blood?" Luz asked.
"Anyone's guess." Eda said with a chuckle.
"Not really helpful there" Carlos told her. We then transition to the three in a different area, as we see Eda put on a sweatband.
"All right, Luz. Let's start training. Now, I'm coming at you with a blast of fire. What do you do?" Eda saked, demonstrating of casting a spell. That's when Luz put her hood up and cowered on the floor, as Carlos slapped his forehead and Eda then realizing something. "Oh, that's right. I haven't taught you two many spells, have I?"
"You think?" Carlos asked. "If you taught us more than the light spell, then Luz might have a bit more of an advantage in this fight." Eda had to admit, there was no arguing with that.
"Well, I hope she didn't make an everlasting oath to stop learning magic forever or anything. You'd be toast." Eda said, not knowing that happened.
"Is there a glowy hand thing that happens, or..." Luz was about to ask, until the voice of Amity distracted her.
"Abomination, rise." Amity commanded, as she made an abomination rise from the ground. The abomination then tore off its head and threw it at a Baker Coven witch, making him fall over. Tinella then threw him, as she then yelled.
"Oh, boy." Eda said.
"I can't believe Carlos and I have to stop learning magic." Luz said, though she knew she was more heartbroken that she had to stop more than Carlos would.
"Listen here, Luz. We're not gonna let those snobs win so easily. We're not gonna let them win at all. I've got an idea." Eda said, getting a devious smile. Suddenly, the sweatband that was around her head broke off, probably because of how thick her hair was.
We're now back in the theater where the Emperor's Coven was held, where Eda and Luz were on one side of the ring, while Lilith and Amity were on another side. Carlos was in the bleachers, where a big crowd has formed.
"Beloved citizens, the Emperor's Coven proudly presents an impromptu demonstration of the sort of witch we seek every year. Introducing Amity Blight." Lilith announced, introducing Amity to the croud as they cheer. "Versus... Some human girl." That caused some confused reactions in the croud.
"Eda, what am I going to do?" Luz asked, starting to panic.
"Calm down. You see those mounds?" Eda asked, pointing to some mounds in the ground. "Get Amity to land on one of those and she'll set off my magic traps."
"That's cheating." Luz told her.
"Nobody'll know. To all eyes up there it'll look like you're performing magic. Just trust me." Eda said. Carlos was close enough to hear their conversation, as he bent down to them.
"You have no choice, Luz. Amity would beat you to a pulp if we don't go with it." He told his sister.
"Fine. But I will know in my heart I'm cheating. If I win now, I lose." Luz said.
"That's the spirit." Eda said, ignoring that little speech she did. That's when the bell went off, signaling the start of the fight. Carlos went back to his seat, as Amity and Luz walked towads each other. Gus and Willow had now just joined Carlos.
"Abomination, rise." Amity commanded, as she made a big spell circle and a bigger abomination than she made before rose from the circle. Even Amity was somehow surprised by it. "Show me what you got, human." She sent the abomination after Luz.
"I'm not good under pressure." Luz shouted, as she started running from the abomination that tried stepping on her. The abomination then took off its head and threw it at Luz, as it almost hit her. Luz was now backed into a wall, as the abomination regrew its head and was still coming for Luz. Just as it was upon Luz, it stepped on one of the mounds Eda had placed and fire erupted from it and onto the abomination's right leg and arm.
"How did you do that?" Amity asked, demanding to know.
"I, uh... Magic?" Luz said, unsure of a proper way to respond. King then came in and sat behind Gus, Willow and Carlos, as he had a bunch of 'offerings' from different covens.
"What did I miss?" He asked them.
"Luz is in a witch's duel." Willow said, worried for her friend.
"Yeah. And she can win it all. Yeah, yeah." Gus cheered.
"Sorry to break your bubble, but she's not gonna win it." Carlos said, making his two new friends confused.
"Why not?" Willow asked.
"Yeah. It looks like she's casting spells down there." Gus added.
"They might look like spells, but Luz isn't casting them." Carlos said, only for Gus, Willow and King to hear. "Luz only knows one spell and Eda is helping her out."
"So, she's cheating." Willow asked him, which he nods.
We turn our attention back to the fight, as the abomination stepped on another mound. This one blew out a gust of wind, as it sent both the abomination and Amity up into the air. The abomination landed on its back, as Amity landed on her feet.
Back up in the crowd, King went to get a closer look at the witch's duel. He heard some kid cheering for Amity. He was gonna tell him to cheer for Luz, but he slipped on the scarf he had on and fell to the stadium. Back in the ring, the duel continued.
"I saw you that time. You didn't use your hands. What are you getting at?" Amity asked, as she noticed Luz didn't use her hands to cast 'magic.'
"Not dying." Luz said. The abomination got back up, as it chased after Luz again, making her run. The abomination stepped on another mound, making the mound explode dust and debris from under it.
"How are you doing that?" Amity asked, demanding to know how Luz was casting magic. She walked toward Luz, unaware of the mound in front of her.
"No, Amity. Don't step any closer." Luz said, as Amity was about to step on the mound. This made Amity confused
"Why, Luz? What happens if I step closer?" Amity asked. As she asked that, King fell from the sky and landed on the mound. As he did, a bunch of spikes popped out of the ground. Luckily, they all missed King. This surprised Luz, as she turned her head to Eda.
"Spikes?!" She asked, alarmed. Eda happily gave a double thumbs up for that without saying a word.
"I knew it. You were cheating." Amity said loudly. That's when Carlos jumped from the stands to the ground.
"Amity, no." Luz guiltily said. Lilith touched one of the spikes, as it turned to sand.
"Oh, Eda, I do believe this means you lose." Lilith said, as Eda grunts.
"It wasn't my idea to cheat. And when I found out, I tried to stop it, but..."
"Who could believe anything you say?" Amity said, as she turned away to leave. Eda then noticed a Power Glyph on Amity's neck when she was leaving.
"Wait just a second, Ms. Protege." Eda said, as she walked up to Amity and moved her hair away.
"Hey, what are you..." Before Amity could finish, Eda ripped the power glyph off her neck and all but the head of the abomination shrank. The head then squashed the rest of the abomination, turning it to goo.
"A power glyph from the Construction Coven." Eda announced, showing the power glyph to the audience, which surprised them.
"Aha! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. You cheated. Perfect, prissy Lilith cheeted. Hot dang, I love conventions." Eda cheered.
"I only did that because I knew you would cheat." Lilith frustratedly said.
"Still cheated. Welcome down to my level." Eda said, still cheering that Lilith cheeted.
"So, I guess my sister wasn't the only one that needed to cheat." Carlos said, walking up to Amity.
"But, I didn't know." Amity said, as she ran off in tears.
"Amity, wait." Luz called off to her.
"Luz, Carlos. Help." King called out, as Carlos and Luz go help King. They pulled him out, ripping his offerings in the process. "My offerings."
"You'll get more offerings, King." Luz said, patting King on the head.
"Now that this is done, let's go check on Amity. Even though I didn't like her attitude, even she doesn't deserve what happened." Carlos said, feeling a little sympathy towards her.
"Right." Luz said, as she and Carlos went to go check on Amity.
"Het, wait for me." King said, joining them. We then turn to Eda, who was still celebrating Lilith cheating.
"Knock it off. You're making a scene." Lilith demanded, as she wanted Eda to stop.
"You cheated. Hey, where's the Rhyming Coven? What rhymes with 'cheated'?" Eda asked, as she wasn't stopping anytime soon.
"Stop acting like a child." Lilith started whining.
"You were defeated, don't get heated. Get your stank face treated." Eda said, as she started rhyming.
"Rhyme one more thing. I dare you." Lilith said, as she was really getting frustrated.
"Oh, it's okay. I'm done. Because my rhymes are depleted." Eda said, as she couldn't help but to rhyme one more time.
"Oh, that's it!" Lilith angrily said, as she brought out her staff. She made a spell circle with it, as she sent a blue flame towards Eda. It hit Eda directly, as it sent her crashing towards wall. This caused the crowd that was still there to gasp. When the dust cleared, we see Eda against the wall, looking perfectly unharmed.
"There she is." Eda said, looking towards Lilith. She then got up and summoned her own staff and made her own spell circle. After a bit of fumble with her staff, Eda fired her own flames back to Lilith. The crowd was now getting pumped up for this fight.
Meanwhile, back with Luz and Carlos, they had exited the theater to look for Amity. They didn't have to look long, as they see her crying against a wall that was next to a women's restroom. They then walk over to her.
"Amity, I'm sorry." Luz apologized.
"Seriously? Just leave me alone." Amity scoffed, turning her head away.
"I didn't mean to embarrass you."
"That's all you ever do. First at school, and now this." Amity said.
"Look, we came here to apologize because we felt bad for you." Carlos told her.
"Your sister made me look like a fool in front of the Emperor's Coven. My future. You two think it's so easy being a witch. I have been working my whole life to get to the top. She lost. She cheated. Say it. Say you and your brother aren't witch's." Amity said in frustration, mostly to Luz. Carlos was about to say something, until Luz spoke up.
"We aren't witches." She said. She then sat down and started drawing the light glyph. Amity and Carlos joined her on the ground. Luz then pressed the light glyph once she was done, as the piece of paper became a light ball.
"You see, even though we aren't witches like you or anyone else here, we are training to be one." Luz said, holding the light ball.
"She's right. We might not do magic like everyone else, but at least we have our own way to make magic here." Carlos added. Amity was amazed by the light ball, as she never seen it be made like that before.
Back to the fight with Lilith and Eda, Lilith fired another blue flame towards Eda. Eda cast a spell cirlce on the ground, as a pillar came up from the ground and blocked it. The pillar then bent towards Lilith, as it gained an owl face, making it look like Hooty. The owl-pillar tried attacking Lilith, but she didged before it could hit her.
Eda then made spell circles on one side of the owl-pillar, making smaller owl-pillars come out and go after Lilith, who kept dodging them as they kept coming. She then jumped into the air and destroyed the ones that followed her. She then went to attack Eda, who simply put up a magical barrier to block her attack.
Eda then made a hole small enough for Owlbert to fly out of and attack Lilith, as she then dropped her shield. "Say good night, sister." Eda said, as she placed the end of her satff on the owl-pillar. Another owl-pillar appeared from it, as it swallowed Lilith before she could react. Eda had thought she won, until she looked back and saw a hole with blue flames on the side of the owl-pillar.
"Enough of this." Lilith said, magically appearing right behind Eda. Her fist was covered in a magical blu flame, as she punched Eda directly to a wall, cracking it in the process. She then was preparing another attack, when Eda stopped her.
"Lily, wait. The curse." Eda said, as this stopped Lilith from attacking. "Look at me. Look at my face. The curse is worsening and I can't keep up with it. I don't know how much time I have left."
"I'll admit I was surprised when I first saw you today." Lilith admitted.
"I just had to see my sister for possibly the last time." Eda said.
"Eda, I... Ah!" Lilith was about to say, until Eda threw the bag of Hex Mix in her face. This infuriated Lilith, as this gave Eda enough time to escape.
"It's been fun, but let's call it a draw." Eda said, as she left.
Back with Luz, Amity and Carlos, it seemed like the siblings were making process with Amity, until she turned away.
"That's nothing. A child could do a light spell." Amity said, as Luz diminished the light ball. She then admitted. "But I've never seen it cast like that."
"It doen't come naturally to me or Carlos like it does for you, so we've had to improvise." Luz said, holding up her notepad.
"She's right. We weren't born with bile sacs on our hearts like witches are, so we had to try a different way." Carlos added.
Amity made the same spell circle from earlier and brought Luz's hand through, as to cancel their deal from earlier.
"The oath is unbound." Amity said, as she got up to leave.
"Did it work? Can we still learn magic?" Luz asked.
"Humans have no magical ability. But I doubt that'll stop you." Amity said, as she left.
"I think she's starting to warm up to us." Lus said to Carlos.
"At least that's a start." Carlos joked, making Luz giggle.
"Luz, Carlos. You guys left me." King said, running up to them
"Yeah. Sorry. Your legs are just so tiny." Luz apologized. "Should we get you more offerings?"
"Nah. That stuff just weighed me down." King said, declining the offer. That's when Eda showed up.
"We gotta go." She said, like she was in a rush.
"How'd you get away from Lilith?" Carlos asked.
"Let's just say she had a real 'snack attack,' Ha!" Eda said, laughing at her own joke. "Wait, I got a better one."
"Eda, do you think we'll ever be true witches?" Luz asked.
"What? I don't know. Who is a true witch? These suckers? According to them, that means being in a coven, but I never joined one and I'm better than all of them combined." Eda said, then added. "You gotta be your own witch."
"My own witch." Luz repeated with enthusiasm.
"Now, let's go before my sister realizes I tied her pointy shoes together." Eda said. That's when Lilith let's out a loud yell. "And that's our cue."
"Wait, Lilith is your sister?" Carlo asked in disbelief. "That's a mystery I haven't heard of from you."
"You think that's all the mystery I got? Wait until you hear about my parents." Eda said.
"What? You have parents? I need to know more." Luz said in delighted shock.
"You very much don't." King jabbed. They then all head back to the Owl House.
There we go, another chapter done. I would've added the part with Lilith and Kikimora, but I feel this chapter is pretty long as is.
I kept the little heartfelt moment between Amity and Luz, but I also had Carlos there, as I wanted to make sure there was no more bad tension between all three of them. Hope you all enjoyed and see you in the next chapter.
