Learning New Spells

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Owl House: The Bro Files. In this chapter, Carlos and Luz will learn a new spell that could get them properly into Hexside. Well, at least not into the baby class of Hexside. Plus, more of the Blight siblings in this chapter too.

Also, I know I said I would be working more on my other stories, but after working on two chapters for a new story, and watching YouTubers reacting to the actual show, I thought I'd come back to write some more chapters. At least this one, anyway. Anyways, enjoy the chapter.

We start off at the owl house, where we see Luz laying on the couch while reading a pamphlet that read 'Hexside Facts and Trivia.' King and Carlos were with her, as King was laying on her stomach and Carlos was sitting at the other end of the couch.

"King, listen to this." Luz started.

"Hey, less read-y, more scratch-y." King said, demanding more belly scratches.

"Sorry. Now that I'll be a student at Hexside, I wanna learn all about it. I've got a new crush and her name is Education." Luz excitedly said.

"Yeah, even I'm excited to be going. Hexside will be a lot more fun than human schools, where you just sit around and do a lot of nothing." Carlos added in. Suddenly, Eda kicked the door open.

"Hey, freeloaders. Guess what today is?" Eda asked.

"Is it your birthday?" Luz guessed.

"Is it my birthday?" King guessed too.

"It's my birthday." Hooty said, wanting to feel included.

"No. It's Human Treasure Day!" Eda excitedly said, while holding the briefcase that was the portal to the human realm. She threw it, as it transformed into the door and opened, as Owlbart flew through with a bunch of human things. "Ah! Fresh garbage." Eda said, as she jumped into the pile of things.

"Oh, gimme, gimme, gimme." King said, rushing to the pile and grabbing a stuffed teddy bear. "Yes! Another worthy addition to my army of terror." Eda then noticed Luz and Carlos not coming over to the pile.

"Yo, kids. Your trash piles are getting cold. While mine's getting hot" She told the two, as she pulled out a shirt hanger. "I have never seen such an extravagent earring."

"Seriously? You're the only ones I know that gets really excited about human things." Carlos said, not interrested. He then added. "Also, that's not an earring. It's a hanger for your clothes."

"You can have my trash. Oh! Did you know that Hexside was built on the bones of its rival school? One it literally conquered?" Luz asked, intrigued by this fact.

"Yes, I know all these things. I went there. It was the most harrowing period of my life." Eda said. She had the hangers from moments ago hanging from her ears, as she was checking how they looked in a handheld mirror.

"Can you imagine it? Me in the halls of Hexside, studying with Willow and Gus and maybe even Amity." Luz said, as she remembered something important. "Amity! Oh, cramity. We're supposed to meet so I could get my Azura book back." She got up and headed to the door.

"I'm coming with. Less time I spend watching them rummaging through human things, the better." Carlos said, getting up to follow his sister. He just didn't want to stay in the house much longer. They then both left the house.

We're now in Bonesborough, where we see Luz and Carlos heading to the market to meet with Amity. They looked for her for a few minutes until they saw her standing by a cursed paintings stall.

Amity wasn't in her school uniform this time. She was dressed in a black mid-sleeved dress with gray-trimming and a gray belt fastened around her waist, orchid tights underneath, and black, medium-heeled ankle boots with golden crescent moon buckles. Around her neck, she wears an amulet with an orchid gemstone.

"Hey, Amity. Luz is finally here." Luz called out, as she was heading towards Amity.

"Hi, Luz." Emira and Edric said, popping into Luz's sight. This surprised Luz, as she screamed out in shock and falls on her butt. This made the twins chuckle at her predicament.

"Edric, Emira, stop bothering her." Amity scolded the twins while walking to them. She then helped Luz up. "Sorry, Luz. They insisted on coming for some reason."

"Becasue we love you, baby sister. Ah!" Emira said, while rubbing her face against Amity's. Amity then pushed her away.

"It's fine, Amity. Carlos is here, too." Luz said, as Carlos walked up to the group.

"Hey." Carlos cooly said. Emira gave a slight squeal as she went to hug her boyfriend, to which Carlos returned the gesture.

"The twins have been extra protective and nice towards me to make up for the library incident." Amity said with an annoyed look on her face.

"And we still apologize every day." Edric said with an apologetic look on his face. Amity then pushed him away.

"At least they learned their lesson." Carlos said, as he and Emira had their arms wrapped around each other.

"In any case, here's your book." Amity said. She reached into her bag and grabbed Luz's book, returning it to Luz.

"So, what's you think?" Luz asked while taking her book back, wondering what Amity's thoughts on the book were.

"It was fine." Amity said nonchalantly, turning her head.

"So fine you drew yourself with Malingale the Mysterious Soothsayer?" Luz asked, taking out a drawing Amity made. Edric, Emira and even Carlos had to hold back their laughter when Luz said that. Amity blushed, as she used her magic to make the drawing crumble into pieces. "This is great. Maybe we can even start an Azura club at school when we're classmates." Luz excitedly said.

"Though, you two would be the only two in the club." Carlos said.

"When we're what?" Amity asked, wondering if she heard them correctly.

"Surprise! We're enrolling at Hexside." Luz said, pulling out the pamphlet from her pocket. This news made Emira squeal in excitement.

"This is awesome! I get to go to Hexside with my boyfriend now!" Emira happily said. That's when Amity interrupted.

"Oh, uh, sorry, but to be in my class you need to take a placement exam, and prove that you've mastered two spells." Amity said. Amity took the pamphlet and showed Luz the Advanced Requirements part of it, which two spells were required. "I know you two have your light thing. Do you know anything else?" Amity asked the two siblings.

This made both Noceda siblings begin to panic, but Carlos was keeping more of a cool head then Luz was. "Placement exam? Spells?" Luz asked in a slight panic.

"Quit giving them a hard time, Mittens." Emira said, using Amity's nickname.

"Yeah, of course they know two spells. Right, guys?" Edric asked the two siblings.

"Yeah. Of course we know two spells." Luz said chuckling nervously.

"Because if you don't, they'll put you both in the baby class." Amity said, showing them a page of the baby class.

"Ooh, brain idea." Edric started.

"What if we all trained together? We can show off what we know." Emira said, finishing the thought.

"What do you say, guys?" Edric asked.

"Uh..." Luz started to say, but couldn't think of the words to say.

"Actually, we have other training plans in a very faraway place." Carlos said.

"Yeah, that we have to go to right now." Luz finished. This made Emira a little sad.

"Aw, I was hoping we could spend some time together." She told Carlos.

"I know, but Eda loves training us. Can't get enough of it." Carlos said, then added. "At least we get to hang out a lot at Hexside."

"Yeah, you're right." Emira agreed.

"Let's go, Carlos. Bye." Luz said, dragging Carlos with her.

Back at the owl house, we're in the kitchen where Eda is cooking something up. She then noticed something.

"Wow, what a surprisingly peaceful domestic moment. When will it be ruined?" Eda asked herself. Just then, the door slammed open.

"Eda!" Luz called from the other room.

"There it is." Eda said, as she somehow knew that would happen.

"Eda, Eda! Eda!" Luz exclaimed in a panic, as she entered the kitchen and fell on the floor. Carlos was not too far behind her, though he didn't fall to the floor like Luz.

"You have to teach us a new spell, right now." Carlos said, a little out of breath from the running.

"Sorry, kids. These vegetables won't cook themselves... Yet." Eda said. She grabbed a potion and poured it all over the vegetables that were on the table, as the vegetables magically came to life. "Alright. Everybody in the pot."

As she said that, all the vegetables ran away screaming. "Why do I think that's gonna work?" Eda asked while watching the vegetables run away.

"But we need to learn two spells to get into decent classes at Hexside." Luz told Eda while getting off the ground. "We can make light glyphs"

"But at the end of the day that's the only spell we know." Carlos finished.

"And whose fault is that?" Eda asked.

"Yours." Both siblings said, as they had a point.

"Ha! Yep! Got me there." Eda said, taking the blame for that one.

"Just teach us a spell now. Any spell. It can be the darkest evil." Luz begged.

"Well, I have been researching my texts on wild magic, but I'm much too busy right now." Eda said, declining the offer.

"Come on, Eda! You're the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles. How would it look if your apprentices got thrown into the baby class?" Carlos asked, taking a stab at Eda's pride.

"Hmm. Weaponizing my pride. Well played." Eda said, as she knew she was beaten. "Well, in that case, this looks like a job for a magic boot camp."

"Did someone say boot camp?" King asked, coming in through the kitchen door. "I agree to run it. We'll rise at dawn. You'll carry me on your back as I yell hateful things about your performance."

"Nope. You'll have no part in this. Luz has a harder time focusing than Carlos, and I can't having her go all weird when you do something adorable." Eda denied his request.

"I am not adorable!" King yell while stomping a foot.

"Aw, he stamped his little foot." Luz cooed, admiring how cute King was being.

King let out a screech of frustration, as he went back outside while slamming the door behind him.

"Now. No time to waste. You'll have to follow my teachings exactly. We gotta go somewhere special." Eda told them.

"Yes!" Luz happily exclaimed.

"A place where magical energy flows." Eda continued.

"Yes!"

"A place like the Knee!" Eda finished. We see they had switched to a snowy location, as the trio were wearing winter clothes.

"Yes!" Luz cheered, apparently happy to be someplace new. We could even hear the echos of her cheer throughout the area.

"So, you teaching us magic here will help us learn how to freeze?" Carlos asked.

"Not exactly. The earliest witches came to the Knee to develop their magic, drawn to its natural power." Eda educated while walking. When they got to a certain point, Luz let out a gasp. What she and the others saw was some ruins covered in ice and snow.

"It's beautiful." Luz said, admiring the scenery.

"Though it's not without its dangers." Eda said, pointing to a huge, white creature with purple claws and a huge mouth gnawing on a piece of a log. "The Slitherbeast."

"Okay, I'm staying clear of that thing." Carlos said, not wanting to be its food.

"Don't worry, if you don't mess with him, he won't mess with you" Eda reassured while walking off towards the ruins. The siblings then follow her. "Here's where we'll set up shop." She had stopped in an area big enough for them to set up.

"We'll definitely learn our second spell here." Luz said, running around in the snow. "Gorgeous views, magic in the air. And best of all, we're completely alone." Just as she said that, there was a pink fireball heading in her direction.

"Watch out!" Eda exclaimed, tackling Luz out of the way. She was about to counterattack, until she and Luz saw Amity, Edric and Emira were there.

"Sorry, whoever's over there!" Amity apologized loudly, as she was apparently the culprate of the fireball. She was there with Edric and Emira practicing some spells.

"Forget teaching me a spell. Just make me disappear." Luz said, hiding her face in embarrassment.

"Well, okay, but I have a 60/40 record of making you reappear." Eda said, until she understood what she really meant. "Oh, you meant... Ah, nevermind."

"What's going on over here?" Carlos asked, as he walked up to Eda and Luz hiding behind a crumbled part of a wall.

"Amity and the twins are here." Luz said, pointing to where they were standing. Carlos looked in the direction she was pointing and saw the three standing there. To say he was surprised to see them there was an understatement.

"Hey, Luz!" Edric called out, as he and Emira were waving to them.

"Carlos!" Emira called to her boyfriend, once the twins knew they were there.

"Guess there's no getting out of this one." Carlos said waving back.

"Hey, guys!" Luz said, coming out from behind the wall and waved too.

"Who are they?" Eda asked, peeking out from the wall.

"Be cool." Luz said.

"If they know we haven't mastered two spells, they'll think we belong in the baby class." Carlos added.

"What's that about the baby class?" Amity asked, as she walked close enough to them to hear something about the baby class.

"Only that it's for babies and these two here aren't babies. Nailed it." Eda said, while walking away whistling.

"Nice save." Carlos deadpanned, a little embarrassed. That's when Emira ran up to him and embraced him in a hug.

"Hey, I wasn't expecting you here at all." Emira happily said, letting go of Carlos.

"Well, I wasn't expecting you to be here either." Carlos said.

"Amity!" Luz said. She jumped over the broken wall she hid behind, but slipped midway through and landed in the snow in front of Amity. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to train. I'm trying to beat Ed and Em's highest score on the exam." Amity admitted.

"Oh, Mittens. That's impossible." Emira said, using Amity's nickname again.

"She still needs to use a training wand to learn new spells." Edric said, as Amity gave him a look that said 'Shut up.' "So, what are you two working on? Something powerful?"

"Yep. Powerful spells. I'm working on one so crazy. Eda's a pretty incredible teacher." Luz gloated, digging a deeper hole for her and Carlos.

"Luz, Carlos, I shall now teach you how to identify different types of snow. By taste!" Eda said, walking back over to them while carrying a small basket full of snowballs. "Well, go on. Eat the snow." She had grabbed a snowball and had tried getting one of them to taste it, but they were reluctant to taste one.

"Eda, how does tasting snow help in our training?" Carlos asked, not really wanting to eat the snow.

"Is this some kind of special magic?" Emira curiously asked, as she and Edric look at the scene with curiousity.

"Ahem. I don't think the Owl Lady wants to show us any of her powerful spells." Amity said, as she started walking away.

"No, Eda's just weird with her training." Carlos told them. As to prove a point, they looked to Eda, who had stuffed a bunch of snowballs into her mouth and tried talking. She then swallowed the snowballs.

"Ooh! Brain freeze. Brain freeze." Eda said, clutching her head. Both Luz and Carlos had a look of disappointment because of how incompetent Eda was at teaching them.

"Guess we'll see you guys around." Emira said, as Edric picked up some snow and turned it into a snowball. "Good luck with your, uh, training." She swatted the snowball out of Edric's hand before he could taste it, as she then grabbed his arm and dragged him away from the group.

"Aw." Edric said, as he actually wanted to taste the snow. They then both waved bye to the Noceda siblings, to which they waved bye back. That's when the siblings turned to Eda.

"Eda! Can you please take this more seriously?" Luz asked, frustrated that Eda isn't taking the training seriously.

"Yeah. You kinda embarrassed us in front of our friends and my girlfriend." Carlos said.

"Wait, that girl that hugged you was your girlfriend?" Eda asked, both curious and surprised.

"Yeah, why?" Carlos asked with his own question.

"Nothing. Just didn't know you were dating a cutie like her." Eda said, which made Carlos blush. "Anyways, you two need to take me seriously. Go taste snow without my guidence. See where that gets you." Luz looked dejected, while Carlos just rolled his eyes.

"If you two listen to me, you'll be doing stuff like that." Eda said. She pointed to the Blight siblings, as Amity used a wand to shoot a pinkish-purple fireball at a tree, making it set ablaze. "And it won't be with some wack training wand. It'll be the real deal. But you have to trust me, okay?"

"Okay. I trust you." Luz said.

"Yeah, I guess I trust you too." Carlos reluctantly said.

"We covered snow. So, now it's on to smelling moss. Now the trick is, you really gotta get it up in there." Eda said, taking some moss out of her pocket and split it in half, as she starts sticking the two pieces up her nose. Both Noceda siblings were having second doubts about this.

Back at the owl house, we see King sitting in the front of the house, holding Francois.

"This is ludicrous. I once led armies. I can lead a dang boot camp. But I have no recruits." King complained. He then realized something. "Or do I?"

"Yep!" Hooty excitedly said. "It's your faithful pal Hooty, reporting for duty. Up at dawn, taking orders all day long."

"Ugh, no. You're too desperate." King said, declining his offer. He then went inside and grabbed a bunch of toys, as he brought them back outside. "Roll call. New guy, Aloysius Turtle, Chip, Beefy Bob, Francois... Oh, you're perfect already." He placed them in that order, hugging Francois at the end.

"As for the rest of you, I'm only saying this once, so listen up!" King demanded, as the teddy bear fell over onto Aloysius Turtle. "Huh, it's no fun if they don't tremble."

King then heard giggling, as he turned around and saw the vegetables Eda brought to life before she left running with pots and other cookwear. He saw the vegetables run to a cliff and throw the things they had down the cliff, as they all cheered. This made King have an idea. "Oh, okay. Alright. Yep, an idea is happening." King said.

Back at the Knee, we see Eda sitting at a campfire, enjoying a nice beverage. Both Luz and Carlos come around the corner of another area, as Luz let out a sigh while walking up to Eda.

"Okay. We've identified the smells of three different rocks, sorted all the twigs from big to small. And found your glove. And your hand." Luz said, listing all the things they did. She also pulled Eda's gloved left hand from her pocket.

"Ah, I was wondering where that thing went." Eda said, taking her hand and reattatched it to her arm.

"So, what now?" Carlos asked, not too thrilled with what they had to do. Luz and Carlos couldn't help but to watch Amity train with the twins. As Amity stopped to wave at them, Edric used his magic to make her sink into the snow. They both couldn't help but to giggle and chuckle at that.

"Hey. I know my lessons seem weird, but this is what wild magic is all about. Making a connection with nature. The earliest witches understood that. Human witches need to understand it too." Eda said, making them focus on her. "You two want to learn a second spell?"

"With all our heart." Luz said, as she and Carlos were determined.

"Then you have to learn from the island." Eda said. She led the siblings to a big rock and sat them on it. "Now look!" From the way they were seated, Luz and Carlos could see the whole island, all the way to the skull. "And think about what the island is trying to tell you." Eda told them as she left. That's when Luz took a deep breath.

"Alright, Luz. Look. Look with everything you got. Focus." Luz said, pumping herself up to focus.

"Man, this is kinda boring. I thought we'd be doing what Amity and the twins were doing, but we get stuck with a bunch of nature crap." Carlos said. He and Luz then heard a noise, as they looked to see Amity broke a big part of a rock with her training wand.

"Amity! Dinner's ready!" Emira called out to Amity, to which Amity walked towards their tent to put the book and wand she was carrying at the doorway. Amity then joined her siblings for dinner.

"I caught a bat!" Edric exclaimed.

"Edric, don't eat that!" Emira scolded him. Luz and Carlos both saw the wand in the doorway of the tent. This gave Luz an idea.

"If I wanna be in the same class as Amity, I'm gonna need to learn magic like Amity." Luz said, thinking about 'borrowing' Amity's wand.

"Luz, wait. I know what Eda is having us do is boring, but we can't go taking their wand." Carlos said, trying to be the voice of reason.

"Maybe, but we aren't getting anywhere at the rate Eda's teaching us. We can just borrow the wand to help us learn spells faster." Luz said. Carlos had to admit, she had a point about Eda's teachings. He then let out a sigh.

"Fine, but lets not go overboard." Carlos said, knowing how overboard Luz can get.

Back with King, he was looking through Eda's book while his 'soldiers' were lined up on the table.

"Military discipline, cooking. I truly am a demon for all seasons. Just a dash of Eda's secret sauce and I'm the creator of life." He said, grabbing the potion Eda made earlier. He then starts pouring it on the toys, as they all come to life.

"Yes, yes, yes! My loyal recruits. Welcome to boot camp. You sure need it. Look at you. Raggedy, pathetic, chewed on. You got a button hanging off of your eye. Pathetic!" King said, sounding like a military officer.

"But I will mold you worms into slightly better kinds of worms. Your first mission, give me snacks. Your commander is hungry, so pick it up!" King commanded them, as they did as he said. He then noticed the bear walking a different direction. "Hey, Private Dingdong. Snacks are that way." King said, pointing in the direction of the kitchen. "You better shape up, recruit. You're in my boot camp now."

What he didn't know was the bears eyes glowed red for a second then turned back to normal.

Back on the knee, we see the Blight siblings talking about the bat Edric found.

"Ed, give me the bat." Emira demanded of him.

"No! If we're not gonna eat it, I wanna keep it as a pet." Edric said, running away to protect the bat.

"Get back here before that thing bites you." Emira said, as she and Amity chase after him.

Unbeknownst to the three, Luz and Carlos were hiding behind a rock. Luz then went to the tent and grabbed both the wand and the book Amity had before. She and Carlos then went up to a cliff, as Luz opened the book to a page to see a drawing of Amity in the book.

"Huh. Her cross-hatching has improved." Luz said, impressed by the drawing.

"We can admire the drawing later. Let's just get this over with before we get in trouble." Carlos told her.

"Right." Luz said, as she took the drawing and put it in another part of the book. She then saw the page for the fireball spell Amity was working on earlier. "Oh, man. Oh, man." She then stood up with the wand and made an orange magic circle with it. She put the tip of the wand in the circle, as the fireball spell attached to the end of the wand. "Yes!" Luz said, amazed she actually did it.

"Careful with that. We're still not entirely sure how to work these things." Carlos warned.

"Relax, I got it in the bag." Luz said, waving it off. Suddenly, the fireball shot into the sky and exploded a distance away. "I did magic! I did magic! Without drawing anything. This thing is the coolest." She cheered.

"Okay, that was cool." Carlos admitted. Luz then was about to do another spell, but was stopped before she could.

"Hold it right there." Came the voice of Eda, as the Noceda siblings turn around to see said witch standing there with her hands on her hips. "What are you doing with that?" She asked, referring to the training wand in Luz's hand.

"I'm doing magic. What would you have me do? Eat more snow? Lick a rock?" Luz said, upset at Eda's way of teaching.

"She does have a point." Carlos said, agreeing with Luz.

"Okay, so maybe my methods are unique, but so is your magic. Connecting to the island can help you both. That wand can't." Eda pointed out.

"Well, it's already helped me. Just watch what I can do." Luz said, as she made another magic circle with the wand. What she didn't know was the wand had a battery, as it was getting low when she was casting the spell. Luz was losing control of the spell, as it went flying into a nearby part of the woods and exploded there. A roar then could be heard, as it didn't sound too good.

"Oh, boy. That doesn't sound too good." Carlos said. As he said that, the slitherbeast from earlier jumped out from that spot in front of Eda, as it had a burn mark on its head from where the spell landed on it. It then let out a loud roar.

"You've angered the slitherbeast." Eda pointed out. She then summoned her staff, ready to protect Luz and Carlos from the Slitherbeast.

"Will it accept a heartfelt apology?" Luz asked, feeling guilty.

"I think it's beyond apologies." Carlos gulped. The slitherbeast looked at the wand in Luz's hand, as it then let out a roar and went after Luz, to which she stood there screaming.

"Look out!" Eda said, pushing her out of the way. The slitherbeast grabbed Eda, though his intended target was Luz. It let out a roar at Eda.

"Eda!" Both Luz and Carlos yelled.

"Luz! Carlos!" Came the voice of Amity, as she, Edric and Emira came running to them.

"What did we miss?" Edric asked.

"And what are you doing with my wand?" Amity asked, noticing Luz with her wand. She then took the wand and book back.

"Look, we can discuss that later. Right now, we need to save Eda from that." Carlos said, pointing to the slitherbeast holding Eda.

"Yeah, that looks like a problem." Emira said. The slitherbeast then came closer to the five teens, growling at them. "Aw, he's so cute. Can we keep him?" Emira asked, blatently ignoring the danger they were in.

"It's no bat. But we can try." Edric said, as both he and Emira made magic circles to take on the slitherbeast. Their circles turned into magical energy ropes, as they tied around the slitherbeasts wrists. It didn't like it, as it was putting up a struggle, much to Edric and Emira's displeassure.

"You got it. Now, finish it off." Eda said from the beasts hand.

"I'm on it." Amity said. She rushed in to use the wand, but it didn't work. She then noticed the battery was out of juice. "Did you use this all up?" She angrily asked Luz.

"I didn't know." Luz said with an apologetic look.

"Come on, guys." Emira grunted from holding onto the slighterbeast.

"Do those powerful spells you were talking about." Edric also grunted out.

"But we actually don't know any." Luz told them. The slitherbeast then freed itself from its constraints and picked up Edric and Emira in its other clawed paw. It tried getting Amity too, but she fell out of it in time.

"Edric, Emira! No!" Amity shouted, seeing her siblings getting taken away. The slitherbeast then put the twins in the same clawed paw as Eda, as it then ran off with all three. Luz, Carlos and Amity tried chasing after them, but they couldn't keep up.

Back at the house, the toy 'souldiers' kept bringing King snacks.

"Yep, keep 'em coming. And don't forget the pretzels this time." King said, grabbing a bag of chips. "Running a boot camp is tough work but as my second-in-command you deserve this." He poured some chips onto Francois. The bear saw this and tried reaching for a snack, but King saw it.

"Hey, hey! Private new guy. You are not prive to snack privileges! Back away!" King demanded. King let out a yawn, as he still hadn't noticed the bears eyes glowing while it walked away. "Leading this boot camp has tuckered the little guy out. So, Sergeant King signing off." King put nightcaps on Francois and himself, as he was about to take a nap, but he noticed a shadow fall over him.

"Excuse me! Could you maybe turn down those eyeballs? Trying to sleep." King asked once he saw the glowing red eye on the bear and started going back to sleep. The other toys surround him, as their eyes were also glowing red. The toys then went after King.

Back at the Knee, we see Amity, Luz and Carlos still standing in the same spots, as the slitherbeast still had Eda and the twins.

"What do we do?" Luz asked.

"We need to go save them." Carlos told her.

"No, I'm going after them. You two are staying here." Amity told the two siblings.

"But the beast has Eda." Luz said.

"And because of you, it has my brother and sister. Now stay put." Amity demanded while pointing at the siblings. That's when Carlos grabbed her by the wrist.

"And if you forgot, I'm dating your sister. I'm going to help, no matter if I know magic or not." Carlos said, as he let go of her wrist and charged passed the two girls in the direction the slitherbeast went.

"Carlos!" Luz called out.

"Wait, you can't just... Ugh! You stay here while I make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." Amity said, as she made a magic circle. She created a prison of sorts with magical beams of light for Luz, as she then went after Carlos.

"Amity! Wait!" Luz tried going after Amity to stop her, but the magical bars zapped her hand once she touched it and she backed away. "Stupid island." Luz said in frustration, as she then kicked a rock that was in the magical cage with her, which was a bad idea. "Ow." After she calmed down, Luz sat on the rock in defeat. She then looked off in the direction of the huge skull.

"You were supposed to teach us magic." Luz said. She then looked up, as it started snowing. "But I'll never learn more than this." She drew the light glyph in her notepad. She then pressed on it with the tip of her pencil as a ball of light came from it. Luz then followed the light ball as it went up into the night sky. She then noticed something in the stars.

"Wait, is that?" She asked. She saw what looked like a light glyph in the stars. "A light glyph? But what does it mean?" A snowflake then fell on Luz's hand, as she lifted it up and saw a new glyph on it before it melted away. "Woah." She then took a stick and broke a smaller piece off.

"It means magic is a gift from the island. Which means..." She said. She then let another snowflake fall on her hand and she drew the glyph it had in it. She then touched the glyph, as a small pillar of ice came from it. "...magic is everywhere." Luz then created a much bigger version of the ice glyph, as she made sure to finish it while standing on the rock. She then jumped on the glyph and activated it, as it made a bigger pillar of ice that flung her through the air and she landed in the snow.

Back at the owl house, we see Hooty listening to some music on some headphones. That's when King shouted from inside.

"Hey! How dare you mutiny! Unhand your commander right now!" King said. The toys then threw King out the window next to Hooty's door. "I gave you life. I can take it away." As he said that, the toys shot arrows and knives out the window at him, which they missed. He then got up and looked to Hooty.

"Hooty, Hooty. Great news, buddy. You can be in the boot camp. First task, destroy the boot camp." King told Hooty.

"Hmm. No, thanks." Hooty said, declining the offer after thinking about it.

"What? But you begged to join." King said frantically.

"Sorry. You said I was desperate. So, now I'm playing hard to get." Hooty teased, turning his head upside down.

"Grr! What do you want?" King desperately asked in frustration.

"I don't know. What are you offering?" Hooty asked. This made King go in thought.

"Hmm." King said. He then had an idea, as he then drew a body below Hooty's head and drew him a hat as well.

"Wow, this is incredible. It's so real. You got yourself a deal." Hooty said, admiring the body drawing for a few seconds before opening the door. And with a hoot, Hooty went and attacked the toys, tearing them up in the process.

"This day shal live in infamy." King said while watching Hooty go to town on the toys.

Meanwhile with Carlos, he had stopped outside the beast's cave. That's when Amity caught up with him.

"Did you find them?" Amity asked. "Yeah, but I haven't found an opening to try and help everyone." Carlos said, as they looked around a rock and saw the slitherbeast had stuck Eda and the twins to a wall with some purple spit.

"Don't worry, we'll be fine." They heard Emira say, as a couple of skeletons fell to the ground and slid away.

"No, we're gonna die." They heard Edric add.

"That's right. Death is here." The voice of Luz could be heard, as she then took the skull away from her face. "Just kidding. Luz is here."

"What is she doing here? I thought I told her to stay put." Amity said.

"That's the thing about Luz, she has a hard time staying in one place. You'll get used to it." Carlos said.

"Kid, get outta here. I'm just gonna sneak away when the thing starts eating the twins." Eda said. Carlos heard that, as he was going to have a talk with Eda when they got back home.

"Wait, what?" Emira asked in surprise, as Edric gasped in shock.

"Don't worry, Eda. I get it now. I was so obsessed with learning my second spell, I didn't listen to you. But now I'm gonna save you. Plus, if you let that beast eat Emira, Carlos will never speak to you again." Luz said, walking away while cheering. Eda then realized she had a point on that last part.

"Well, at least I got to see her misplaced confidence one last time." Eda said. As Luz got closer to the spot where Carlos and Amity were hiding, they both grabbed her and pulled her behind the rock.

"What are you doing here? I thought I left you behind a magical barrior." Amity said.

"Wait, you did what?" Carlos asked, looking at Amity with a slight angry expression. This made Amity blush at what she said in front of him. She then shook it off.

"Nevermind that. How did you escape?" Amity asked.

"Let's just say, I learned my second spell." Luz said.

"Wait, you learned another spell while we were gone?!" Carlos asked.

"Yep. And I am gonna need your help to take down that beast. Both of you." Luz said. She then started to silently explain her plan, as the slitherbeast came back and seasoned Eda and the twins, which made Eda sneeze.

"I hate garlic." Eda said.

"Hey, you big idiot! Over here!" Luz shouted, getting the slitherbeasts attention. The beast gave a growl, as it then startd chasing after Luz. As the beast chased Luz, Amity and Carlos went over to where Eda and the twins were.

"Amity! Carlos!" Edric said, happy to see them.

"Amity, use that fire spell we taught you." Emira said.

"But I can't do it without the wand." Amity degectedly said. Carlos then placed a supportive hand on her shoulder.

"Amity, you can do this. I seen how powerful you are when you want to be." He said, remembering a lot of times she used her magic.

"He's right. Just focus." Emira said.

"Okay." Amity said. With newfound determination, Amity made a spell circle and she made a fireball.

"Cool. I didn't actually think you could do it." Emira said. Amity brought the fire closer and it melted the saliva away, freeing Eda and the twins. That's when Carlos came over and hugged Emira.

"You're free! And you smell really good." Carlos said, which got a giggle from Emira. That's when everyone heard Luz in distress.

"Luz!"Amity said. Everyony then left to go and try to help her.

We switch over to Luz still running from the slitherbeast, as it was hot on her heels. She turned a corner and soon got chased to a tree. She had her back to the tree, as the slitherbeast let out a roar.

"Gotcha!" Luz said. She had stepped on a glyph she drew before getting to the slytherbeast cave. Suddenly, a ice pillar rose from under the slitherbeast and sent it flying into the air and it landed on its back. Once everyone else got there, they saw the beast defeated on its back. The beast got back up, let out a roar and jumped towards Eda, Carlos, Amity and the twins, which made the four teens panic.

"Want me to teach you kids something cool?" Eda asked, to which all of them said yes. Eda ran up to the slitherbeast and started a spell circle, as she then yelled. "The sleep spell." The spell covered the beast as it was about to attack, as it then fell asleep while snoring.

"Now that's my mentor." Luz cheered, as she ran over to Eda and the group. "Did you see? I learned my second spell. I made a connection."

"I saw. Nice work, kiddo." Eda complimented, scruffing Luz's hair.

"You gotta teach me how you learned that spell. Now I'm behind." Carlos said.

"You showed some real bravery in there, sis." Emira said.

"Yeah. Nice work, kiddo." Edric added, trying to immitate what Eda did with Luz.

"Uh, stop!" Amity said, trying to get her haid straight again. She then walked over to Luz. "So, it looks like we'll be in the same class."

"Azura Book Club? Azura Book Club?" Luz excitedly asked.

"As long as it's a secret club, okay?" Amity quietly said with a blush, so the twins wouldn't hear.

"It's not a secret." Edric said aloud.

"We're gonna tell everyone." Emira added in. This made Carlos laugh, as Amity let out a sigh. Eda then let out a sneeze.

"Alright, your adorable banter is literally making me sick. Let's go home already." Eda said.

"On it, teach." Luz said. She drew the ice glyph in the snow, as Eda made sure she was on it when it was activated. Carlos gave Emira a kiss on the cheek before joining Eda and Luz. Luz then activated the glyph once it was finished, as she, Carlos and Eda were launched through the air with the ice pillar.

"I think we can go the normal way." Emira said, seeing how dangerous the other way was.

Back at the owl house, we see King and Hooty standing in the mess that was once the living room. Everything looked pretty bad, as Hooty was sweating and there were toy parts everywhere.

"Private Hooty, today when the felt flew, you showed grit and determination that were instrumental in securing our victory. May I just say it has been an honor to be your commander." King said.

"Sir, the honor is all mine." Hooty said.

"Private, our hearts have been touched by fire. And..." Before King could continue, he was interrupted by Eda clearing her throat.

"What the heck did you two get into?" Eda asked.

"Yeah. It looks like a warzone in here." Carlos added.

"Um, excuse me, we're having a moment here." King told them.

"You'll never understand what we've been through together. Never, never!" Hooty exclaimed.

"Ugh, moment ruined." King said in disgust, as he walked away.

"I will be haunted by my actions forever. Hoot, hoot." Hooty said loudly to himself. Ignoring him, Carlos turned to Luz.

"So, you wanna show me how to do that spell?" He asked her.

"Yeah, c'mon." Luz said, as she and Carlos head up the stairs. "Don't make the house more of a mess." Eda yelled up to them.

There we go, chapter done. This took me longer to do than I'd like to admit, but here it is. I would've had a part where Carlos had to explain to Emira why he lied to her, but this chapter is pretty long as is, so hope you like what is written.

Anywho, I will try working on more chapters of my other stories, as this story feels like it is miles ahead of the others. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this chapter. See ya on the next one.
