The First Day

Hello everyone, and welcome back to The Owl House: The Bro Files. As you could probably tell, this will be the episode where Luz and Carlos will be starting their first day of studying at Hexside. Let's see how this chapter goes with Carlos joining Luz in Hexside.

Also, for those who follow me for my other stories, I'm sorry those ones are going really slow. I just haven't been in a writing mood until mid-October, so please bare with me. I just want to focus on one story at a time and since this one has the most chapters, I will focus on this one. Thank you, and let's get on with the story.

We start off in a dark place, as it was then lit up by a light ball that Luz made. She has a worried expression on her face.

"I'm not ready for this, Eda. Maybe we should go back." Luz said, unsure about what she was doing.

"Nah, kid. You got this. Just do what we practiced." Eda encouraged her.

"But what if I mess something up? Or what if I do something wrong? What if I die?" Luz asked.

"Luz, you're just overcomplicating things. I'm sure you'll be fine." Carlos told her, as he put an arm around her shoulder to help calm her nerves.

"He's right, just calm down. I had to do the same thing when I was a witchling. It's like a rite of passage. Granted, I was a little more skilled." Eda said, though that last part wasn't really helping.

"Eda."

"Not helping."

"Right, right. Sorry, sorry. Now, get pumped." Eda said, encouraging Luz.

"Pumped."

"Get ready."

"Ready."

"Now go." Eda said, pushing Luz out to a stage for the entrance exams for Hexside. As the curtains opened, Luz began monologging while wearing a cloak with a hood.

"From the humblest of beginnings, a hero will rise. I have traveled from another realm and trained with a powerful witch to master dark and forbidden magic." Luz began. From backstage, Carlos could only roll his eyes with a smile, knowing how overdramatic his sister liked to be with magic.

"I am. Luz Noceda." Luz finished, taking off her cloak. We see the only audience was Principal Bump, who was there to see how the Noceda siblings faired with magic. This made Luz chuckle nervously.

"Right. One of the humans that want to be a witch. Against my better judgement, I've allowed you and your brother to take these exams into Hexside. But can you do magic with all your... human parts?" Bump asked, kinda skeptical about Luz and Carlos knowing magic.

"I sure can." Luz said, as she took glyphs out of the fanny pack she was wearing. "It's said that humans can't do magic, but my brother and I discovered a lost technique that changes everything." She placed the glyphs on the ground.

"Hmm?" Bump said, looking on in intrigue. Eda gave Luz two thumbs up in support from backstage.

Luz activated the light glyph first, to which it floted a couple feet off the ground. She then put the ice glyph under it and activated it, which made a pillar of ice under the ball of light. This actually impressed Bump, as he had never heard of something like this before.

"Spells cast with paper? I've never heard of such a thing. But is it enough to pass the exam?" He asked in thought.

"Uh..." Luz said, but she couldn't thing of anything else to do.

"Improvise." Eda told Luz while poking her head from behind a curtain.

"I can do other things. What about this?" Luz asked, as she then turned her eyelids inside out. This made Carlos facepalm, as Principal Bump wouldn't be intrigued by that.

Luz then got an eyelash in her eye. As she was trying to get it out, she slipped in the puddle the melting ice pillar made and fell back into the cloak she threw on the ground, getting entangled in it. As she was trying to get out of that, Luz fell off the stage and accidentally fell onto Bump. She then rolled off him and out of the cloak.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry." Luz prefusly apologised. She then accidentally touched an ice glyph, as it sent her up by her feet. "I failed, didn't I?"

"Believe it or not, I've seen worse." Bump told her, as she then fell to the ground. "Welcome, Luz, to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics. Now, let's see how your brother can preform with his spells." Carlos then came onto the stage, making sure to avoid the puddle Luz's spell made.

"I'm not much for theatrics like my sister is, so I will get straight to the point as to not bore you." Carlos said, as he got started.

Carlos decided to start with the light glyph like Luz did, but he made the ice glyph cover the light ball in ice. He then used his soccer skills to balence the ice-light ball on one of his feet, before launching it in the air. When it came back down, he kicked the ball with the sole of his shoe and sent it flying passed Bumps head and into the wall, making it hit the wall and it shattered into light and snow.

"Huh, that was a bit more impressive than your sister's attempt. Wreckless, but impressive. I welcome you, as well, to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics, Carlos." Bump said. Both siblings cheered, as they then went home with Eda to get ready for school the next day.

The next day, we see Eda taking Luz and Carlos to school on Owlbert. Both Carlos and Luz were wearing the Hexside uniforms, but had light gray sleeves and leggings, as a track hasn't been selected for them yet. Luz had a nervous look on her face.

"We gotta go back. This was a mistake. I'm gonna mess things up again and everyone will see, and..." Before Luz could continue, Eda interrupted her.

"Alright. You gotta calm down. What are you nervous about? You've been to school before." Eda said.

"That's why I'm nervous. At my human school, I didn't make a first good impression. This is a chance to be seen as something other than a screwup." Luz admitted.

"Luz, you gotta remember that this isn't like our schools back home. Not everyone will see you as a screwup." Carlos reassured her, then added. "Besides, we already have some friends that already like us there."

"Yeah, don't worry about what those dorks think. If you want my advice, walk into class and punch the first kid you see. To establish dominance." Eda said, giving poor advice.

"Don't actually do that." Carlos told Luz. They then arrived at Hexside, as Carlos and Luz got off Owlbert.

"Last chance to back out and earn a new Bad Girl Coven patch." Eda said, pulling out a Quitter badge. "Quitting. It's like trying, but easier."

"Pass." Carlos said, as he started walking towards Hexside.

"Nah, I'll just earn it when I quit showering. Bye." Luz said, as she followed Carlos to the school.

"And make sure Luz isn't a Goody-Luz shoes." Eda yelled more towards Carlos. She then flew off.

On the way up to Hexside, the Noceda siblings ran into Amity and her abomination.

"Hey, Luz. Carlos. Congrats on getting in. And not being in the baby class." She congratulated them.

"Thanks. Now if you don't excuse me, I'm gonna go find your sister." Carlos said, as he went off to find Emira before school officially started.

"Thanks, Amity. Up top." Luz said, offering a high-five. Amity accepted, giving Luz a high-five, to which the abomination followed suit and high-fived Luz's face. Amity then walked off with her abomination. Luz then wiped the abomination goo off her face.

"Wow! my first day at Hexside. A chance to discover my true magical potential and maybe meet a hot, yet vulnerable upperclassman." Luz said to herself, or at least she thought.

"Dream on." Came the voice of King from her backpack.

"King?"

"Boop!" King came out of Luz's backpack and booped her on the nose.

"Why are you in my bag?" Luz asked him.

"You're a free ride to the best buffet in town." King said, as he hops into a nearby trash can. "The trash cans here are filled with half-eaten gold."

"Okay. But if anyone asks, you don't know me." Luz told him, as she starts walking away.

"Have a wonderful school day, person-I-don't-know." King said, playing along with what she said. He then looked over to see a student with a pufferfish-like head standing next to him.

"I really needed to hear that." He told King. We then switch to see Luz approaching Gus and Willow.

"Luz!" Both exclaimed when they saw their friend.

"Hello, fellow Hexoleos." Luz greeted.

"Greetings, classmate." Willow greeted back.

"You did it, Luz." Gus said. He used his magic to congratulate his friend being at Hexside, but his message said, 'Better Luck Next Time,' to which he realized his mistake. "Sorry. I was covering all my bases."

"I can see those bases were for us not making it in." Carlos teased, as he walked up to them with Emira at his side. Gus gave a sheepish smile while blushing.

"Hey, Em." Luz greeted.

"Hey, Luz. I see you made it in too." Emira said, seeing Luz in the uniform.

"Yep. My dreams of being a witch are coming true." Luz said. She then realized something. "Where's Edric?"

"I told him I would meet him in class. Just wanted to spend some time with Carlos before classes started." Emira said.

"I see." Luz acknowledged.

"So, Luz. Do you know who those witches are?" Willow asked, motioning to the nine coven banners. "Those are the heads of the main nine covens. Each one excelled at a magic school like Glandus, St. Epiderm and, of course, Hexside. Are you prepared to enter these hollowed halls?"

"Hmm, that's what I'm gonna figure out right now. See you on the other side, friends." Luz said, as she ran into Hexside.

"Guess I should get going too. Gotta get to principal Bump's office to see which track I go in." Carlos said.

"Good luck." Emira said, giving Carlos a kiss on the cheek for luck. Carlos blushed, as he headed inside as well.

"See ya, guys." Gus said, as he used his magic again and the words 'Goodbye Forever' were spelled out. "You know what? I'm just gonna get rid of these."

"Good call." Emira said.

We're now in Bump's office, where he was listening to some news about Glandus High. The news was about students and teachers there being unconscious and without magic from an unknown force.

"Ha! Take that, Glandus." Bump said, somehow happy about the rival school and their predicament. "Looks like this year's Grudgby match is going to be a forfeit." Bump then heard his door close, as he then sees the Noceda siblings come in.

"Hiya, Princy-B. Can I call you that?" Luz asked.

"Absolutely not." Bump said, not fond of that nickname. "Now, today we'll be visited by the Emperor's Coven for a routine inspection. If we want to impress them, you two will need to join a coven track before they arrive."

"Actually, Principal Bump, I've made my own schedule. First, vet care for mythical beasts, then healing and dealing, and then after lunch..." Luz started while pulling out a list. Bump took a look at this list and gave a laugh.

"Studying multiple tracks at once? No one does that." Bump told her.

"Then I'll be the first." Luz stated.

"I have to agree with Luz. Studying more than one track sounds cool and I want to be in more than one." Carlos agreed.

"No, you won't. According to the rules, a good witch needs to hocus-focus. You can only pick one of the nine tracks." Bump told the siblings, then gave a warning. "And you do not want to embarrass me in front of the inspector."

"But all the tracks are so cool. Is there some sort of enchanted article of clothing that could sort this out for me?" Luz asked, as she wanted to join every track.

"Well, there used to be but..." Bump said, as he had a flashback about a magical hat the school had about to eat the the kids of Hexside. This made him shudder.

"I don't know if I can choose just one." Luz dejectedly said.

"Yeah, there are more than one I would like to be apart of." Carlos agreed.

"Then I will choose one for each of you. For Luz. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe." Bump said, as he pointed to the potions track at moe. "Oh, yes. The potions track. You humans are filled with liquids, right?" He asked, as he used magic to change Luz's uniform to make the sleeves and tights match the potion track colors.

"Oh, I guess I have always liked pouring things into other things." Luz said.

"As for Carlos." Bump did the same procedure to Carlos as he did with Luz, as his finger landed on the construction track when he said moe. "Oh, yes. The construction track. You seem like a strong, young man for that." Bump said, as he used his magic to change Carlos's sleeves and tights to the same brown color of the construction track.

"Huh, I remember seeing this at that convention. I wondered what it would be like to have superhuman strength." Carlos admitted.

"I expect you both to be on your best behavior. Based on the costly repairs from recent incidents, we could really use a donation from the Emperor's Coven." Bump said, recalling to the incidents the Noceda siblings have caused in the past. "Now, off to class." He used magic to send them both to class, as he then heard a panicked scream.

"The choosy hat. It broke free!" Bump exclaimed, looking out a window.

We're now in the potions class, as Luz took her seat to start the lesson.

"Welcome to a new semester. Let's get brewing. Today we'll be making fog brews." The teacher said, pulling out a round vial with a yellow liquid in it. She then threw it to the ground and disappeared in a puff of smoke. She then instantly reappeared and said, "Begin!"

"See? Potions are fun. You can spend the rest of your life studying this, right?" Luz asked herself. She then heard a crash outside, to which she looked out the window.

Luz saw Willow standing opposite another girl from the oracle track. This girl's upper head was in the shape of a sideways cresent moon, to which she had a yellow bow on the left part and she had one purple eye on the right side of her face. She picked up a glass ball, to which a spirit-like being came from it.

"The oracle track." Luz said in amazement. She then looked at Willow who activated her plant magic to summon a monstrous flower with teeth and eyes on each petal. "The plant track." The spirit-like being and the flower then went to attack each other, to which amazed Luz and got her distracted from her class assignment.

"Ahem!" The teacher cleared her throat, which got Luz's attention.

"Sorry. Sorry." Luz apologized, getting back to her potion.

Pretty soon class ended and everyone left class.

"Oh, boy. Stirring is the pits. What else is on the schedule for today?" Luz asked, looking at her class schedule. Her schedule had nothing but potion classes on it. "Oh, man. I'm sorry, elbow."

"Hey, Luz. How was class?" Carlos asked, walking up to her.

"Nothing but stirring potions the whole time. You?" Luz asked.

"Just a bunch of construction talk about building houses and whatnot. Hey, did you see that sparring session between Willow and that one oracle girl?" Carlos asked.

"Yes! It was amazing." Luz said in amazement. Luz then looked over and saw the same girl that fought Willow putting her crystal ball back with a bunch of other crystal balls and walk away. "A crystal ball. Maybe it can show me if I'm on the right track."

"Luz, don't do it. If Principal Bump catches you, you could be in trouble." Carlos warned.

"Maybe you're right. I gotta make a good first impression." Luz said. She then started walking away with Carlos, until she slinked away to in front of the crystal balls and grabbed the one the other girl had. Carlos had noticed Luz not with him and saw her at the crystal ball closet, holding one of them.

"Luz, put it back." Carlos said, rushing up to her. By the time he got to her, the spirit-like being from before came out.

"You will be in trouble very soon." The being told them.

"Wow! Wait, what did you say?" Luz asked. She had been amazed at first, but then became confused about what it said. That was when Principal Bump cleared his throat. He then grabbed both Luz and Carlos by their wrists and dragged them away from that area.

"But we weren't studying other subjects. We... Fog brew!" Luz said. She threw her potion she made in class on the ground and it didn't do anything, as it was a dud. "Yeah, I figured that wouldn't work."

"Principal Bump, I swear I was only trying to stop Luz from getting in trouble." Carlos tried to explain, but it fell on deaf ears. Principal Bump then took them to a different classroom.

This classroom had a teacher with six eyes and three other students in it and one of the students looked like a dog with a human-like face. They could see their sleeves were a gray color, at least a darker gray than the gray for those with no tracks.

What is this place?" Luz asked with fear in her voice.

"This is a place where all troublemakers go." Bump said. He then used his magic to change the colors of Luz and Carlos's sleeves and leggings to the same gray color as the others. "The detention track."

"Nice going, Luz." Carlos said, looking at Luz with a disappointed face.

"Detention track? But this can't be possible. I thought we..."

"Yes. Actual detention still needs repairs. In the meantime, I am keeping all troublemakers far away from the eyes of the inspector. You both may try for a new track next year." Bump said as he started leaving.

"But we'll be back in the human world by then." Carlos dejectedly said.

"Maybe you'll do better in a human school." Bump said as he left and the door closed behind him.

"Guess we should take our seats. We'll probably be here for a while." Carlos said, walking to one of the tables and took a seat. Luz nervously smiles at the other three students and sits next to the only other girl in the room, Viney.

"Hello, fellow detentioners. Room for one more?" Luz asked. The other three students ignored her, as they were being aloof with her. "I like the little spikeys in your hair."

"Hey! You all better be quiet unless you want to to scrub the classroom again." The teacher scolded.

"Hey, don't blame any of them. I'm the one that started talking." Luz said, standing up for the others in the detention room.

"Oh, hooray! A hero." The teacher sarcastically remarked. He then used his magic to summon a mop and bucket for Luz to use.

"Ah, farts." Luz skulked, as she went to clean the room. Viney couldn't help but to look at Luz, impressed by what she did for them. Even Carlos was impressed by his sisters actions.

Meanwhile, we see King in another part of the school heading to another trashcan for some food.

"Time to scrounge through the trash." He said, as he jumped into the trash. He then starts licking the jelly off the bottom of a donut box, until he heard a teachers voice outside the trashcan.

"That's it. I'm sick of someone eating all the donuts in the teacher's lounge. I quit!" The teacher said, throwing his tie in the trash and it landed on King.

King tried and struggled getting the tie off of him, as the trashcan tipped and fell over, as he rolled into the classroom the teacher came out of. He then got up and looked around, realizing he was in the classroom.

"Are you our substitute?" A bi-cloptic kid from the potion track asked.

"Substitute? I ain't no desk jockey." King told him.

"Look at his professional-looking tie. He must be." Another student said.

"Can it, fangs. You don't know diddly dang about squiddly squat." King said while hopping onto a desk and pointing at that student.

"Yes, sir. Sorry, sir." The kid said, bowing to King's whims. This made King realize something.

"Obedience? Well, what is a teacher if not an authority figure? A king of children, if you will." King said. He then went up to the front of the classroom. "Yes. I am your teacher. You may call me Mr. King." He then starts clapping to motion for the kids to clap, to which they did.

Back at the detention track, Luz was cleaning the windows while the teacher was fast asleep. As Luz was cleaning the windows, a spider-like teacher with a group from the baby class walked by.

"All right, kids. Who wants to go on a field trip to the astral planes?" The teacher asked the kids, as they cheered in excitement.

"I do." Luz sadly said in a low voice.

"Luz!" Willow exclaimed as she and Gus ran up to the window she was cleaning.

"Oh, my gosh. I missed you so much. Let me squeeze your faces." Luz excitedly said, as she reached out the window and starts squeezing Willow's face.

"What's going on? We didn't see you or Carlos in any classes." Gus said, worried for his friends.

"Principal Bump put us in the detention track because Luz decided to mix magic." Carlos said, walking over to the window because he heard Gus and Willow were there.

"The detention track? You two can't do anything in there." Willow said, appalled.

"You'll learn less than you did before." Gus added.

"No. I'm better than this. Please, you gotta help us break out." Luz begged.

"Normally, I would say let Luz learn her lesson, but even I find it pretty boring in here." Carlos acknowledged.

"Don't worry. We'll get you out, dead or alive." Gus said. Both Willow and Carlos gave him looks about his phrasing, to which he noticed. "Okay. Alive." He corrected.

"Oh, you guys." Luz gushed. They then heard a chair scraping on the floor. "It's the teacher. Gotta go."

Just as Carlos and Luz turn around to leave, they were immediately come face-to-face with Viney, which made Luz gasp.

"It's you." Luz said.

Viney shushed her, as she pointed to the sleeping teacher. She then motioned for both Noceda siblings to follow her. Viney led them to the chalkboard, as she then grabbed the chalk and drew a square with a keyhole on it. Viney then used the chalk as a key and unlocked the square she drew, as it then opened to reveal it was a door to a secret hallway. This amazed the two siblings.

"Whoa." Luz said, amazed. Viney went through the passage, as she motioned for the Noceda's to follow, which they did and the door closed behind them.

"What is this place?" Carlos asked.

"This is the last room you two will ever see alive." Viney said in a threateningly way, before revealing it was a joke. "Ah, just messing with you guys. I'm Viney." She introduced herself.

"I'm terrified. Um, I mean, I'm Luz." Luz introduced herself to Viney.

"And I'm Carlos." Carlos also introduced himself.

"Thanks for standing up for us back there. Not many people would do that." Viney said to Luz. "Follow me. I wanna show you guys something. You two are troublemakers like us now, so you get special access to the secret room of shortcuts."

Viney led them to another door. When she opened it, it led to a bigger room with even more doors in it. There were even doors on both the floor and the ceiling. This amazed both Carlos and Luz.

"Whoa!" Luz said in amazement.

"Hey, Jerbo! Barcus! You can stop hiding now!" Viney called out to the other two kids that were in the detention track, as they came through one of the other doors.

"How do we know they're cool, man? How do we know they won't turn us in?" Jerbo asked, peering out from the door. He then turned to Barcus and asked, "What do you think?" Barcus could only bark in communication.

"What did he say?" Carlos asked.

"He said her aura is strong and silly, like a baby's laughter." Jerbo said, pointing to Luz. Barcus then let out another bark. "And he said your aura can be protective, yet compassionate. Welcome." Jerbo welcomed both of them. This made Luz very giddy and excited.

"I love secret rooms. Where do the doors go?" Luz asked, as she rushed to one of the closest doors. She opened it up and looked through it, as she saw it led to one of the many hallways within Hexside. Luz also saw Amity in the hallway, as Amity was pacing back and forth while talking with herself.

"So, you two go to the same school now. That doesn't change anything." Amity said, as she then sighed. Luz then closed the door, to which Amity heard it. "Huh?" She looked and saw nothing there. We're now back in the room of shortcuts.

"This place connects to different parts of the school. We found it after we were thrown in the detention track. The witch who made it is known as... Lord Calamity." Viney said, as she pointed to a framed picture of a student that was mostly covered in paint.

Around the picture were signitures of not just Viney, Jerbo and Barcus, but of some witches named Emmy, Chris, Maddie and Sabrina.

"They started this troublemaker wall and we added our names in their honor." Jerbo said in admiration.

"This place is amazing. I bet you guys can get into so much trouble in here." Luz giddily said.

"Sure, we can, but we can do so much more." Viney said, pointing up to Barcus. He was looking throught the door to the oricle track classroom. Luz and Carlos took a peek with him.

"Remember, seeing the end of a life is the beginning of reading a fortune. We have to work backwords from it to see the truth." The oricle teacher said, as she held up a paper fortune teller. Barcus even made his own paper fortune teller.

"We're not allowed to study any kind of magic. So we study every kind of magic. In secret." Viney said, as she was sitting with Jerbo. Luz and Carlos joined them.

"You actually like school?" Carlos asked curiously.

"Yeah. We might have liked it too much." Viney sheepishly said.

"I tried mixing plant magic with abominations. Bump was not thrilled." Jerbo said. He then explained what Barcus did. "Barcus mixed potions with oricle magic."

"Mixing healing and beast keeping was slightly unconventional. But puddles was a great assistant, dang it." Viney said, explaining her story. "We all want to be in more than one coven track, but Bump says we need to focus."

"Sounds like Bump's priorities are out of whack." Luz said.

"I agree. Bump shouldn't stick to those rules of sticking to only one track." Carlos agreed. This made Viney chuckle.

"I'm glad you two are one of us. You guys made a good first impression. Would you two like to add your name to the troublemaker wall?" Viney asked, holding up a perminant marker. Luz was about to grab the marker, until she heard the familiar voice of Willow.

"Luz, Carlos. We're here to get you out of that horrible class." Willow loudly said from the classroom. Theis made Luz chuckle nervously.

"They're probably looking for some other Luz and Carlos."Luz said. Viney then got up and went to the door that led into the detention track classroom and opened it up. She saw Willow and Gus standing there with their backs to her, looking for Luz and Carlos.

"Maybe they already booked it. They did say they were better than this place." Gus said, as Willow whistled for the two siblings like they were dogs. This shocked and surprised Viney, as she then closed the door.

"Oh, you both think you're better than us?" Viney asked while feeling hurt and betrayed.

"No, no. It's not like that. We just didn't think we deserved... I mean, none of us deserved..."

"J'Accuse!" Jerbo exclaimed before Luz could finish her explaination. "I should've known you'd both look down on us. Everyone else does." Barcus hissed in agreement, as it was him saying 'You both have an aura of lies.'

"Listen, I know what we said sounded hurtful, but that was before we were introduced to this place and saw how cool you three were. We weren't intending to hurt any of you that way." Carlos explained, but it fell on deaf ears.

"It's fine. I just... I thought someone finally understood us, but... Maybe you two should just leave." Viney sadly said, motioning to the doorway leading to the detention room. This made Barcus and Jerbo gasp, as the Noceda's hung their heads in shame.

"We understand." Luz said.

Back in the detention classroom, Willow was still looking around for Carlos and Luz, as Gus was investigating the sleeping teacher. Gus pulled the teachers mustache, but the teacher didn't wake up from it. This made Willow look in his direction.

"Man, this guy can sleep through anything. I'm gonna test that theory." Gus said, as he took out a wet mop and was about to put it on the teacher's face, but Willow stopped him.

"No. We have to find Luz and Carlos. If only these walls could talk." Willow said, as she touched the door and Luz opened it up.

"Hey, guys." Luz dejectedly greeted, as she slid out the doorway. Carlos came out after her, but he didn't slide out like Luz did.

"Thank you, walls. We found a way to get you both out to talk to Principal Bump." Willow told them.

"We have expert disguises. Get in. They also have holes for your legs." Gus said, as he grabbed some trashcans from the hallway. Luz walked over to put herself in the trashcan, but Carlos didn't budge.

"I'm not getting in that. Also, couldn't you use your illusion magic to make us disguises?" Carlos asked him.

"This was the best way for Principal Bump and the inspector to not immediately notice you." Gus told him. Carlos groaned, but complied and got in the trashcan like Luz did, as they used the leg holes to walk themselves out.

Gus and Willow start following, until Gus came back and put the wet mop on the teachers face, to which he didn't even wake up from that.

"Incredible." Gus said, amazed and slightly disturbed that the teacher was still sleeping.

We then go outside to where a raven-haired woman magically teleported onto school grounds. This was the inspector from the Emperor's Coven. She walked up the stairs to meet with Principal Bump.

"Welcome to Hexside, inspector." Bump greeted the inspector.

"Greetings, Principal Bump. If everything's in order, the Emperor's Coven will be happy to cover your repairs." The inspector said.

"Exellent. Please come this way. We've prepared a show with some of our finest students." Bump said, as he lead the way into the school.

We're now in the auditorium, where we see Amity showing off with her abomination for Principal Bump and the inspector.

"And that concludes the presentation from the abomination track." Amity said, as she and her abomination took a bow. Principal Bump applauded her work.

"That was some real Hexside magic, huh?" Bump asked the inspector.

"Yes, this is good. But let's see if your student can put up more of a fight." The inspector said, as she stood up and walked to the stage, throwing her clipboard away.

"Yes, yes. Wait, what?" Bump asked, confused at that notion. That's when the inspector's head changed into more of a reptilian-like head when she got to the stage. "Is this part of the inspection?" Bump asked, still confused.

"Abomination, fight." Amity ordered, as the abomination went after the 'inspector.' The 'inspector' then turned into a huge, snake-like creature with frog-like eyes, pale-yellow skin and arms with claw hands. She had eaten Amity's abomination once it attacked her.

"The magic at Glandus High was tasty. But I hope yours will be more filling." The 'inspector' said in a deep voice, as she started heading in Amity's direction.

"Amity, stay back. She's an imposter." Bump said, getting between Amity and the beast. He tried using his magic, but the beast opened her mouth and ate his magic by sucking it into her mouth. Bump didn't have enough energy to stand, as he fell to the ground.

Amity tried using her magic, but the creature did the same thing to her as she did to Principal Bump and Amity fell to the floor as well.

Back with King, he was teaching the class what looked like some kind of math problem.

"Assume a coefficient of 10, carry the two, solve for Y. And that is the way to steal a pie from a windowsill. Also, you can eat trash." King said, as he was actually teaching them how to steal things.

"Finally some skills we can really use." The bi-cloptic kid said in amazement.

"And now, for my next lesson..." King started while taking out a slice of pizza, but was interrupted by a loud growl from outside the classroom. "Seriously? It's not even fifth period yet." King left the classroom and entered the auditorium.

"Excuse me. Could you keep it down? Mr. King's trying to mold young minds here." King said, as he sees the same creature trying to take and eat more magic from Principal Bump.

"Oh, only 300 years until retirement." Bump tiredly said. The creature then turned her attention to King standing there.

"I can see that I'm interrupting, so I'm just gonna..." King said while leaving. As he left, he then ran away screaming.

We now go back to Luz, Carlos, Willow and Gus walking down a hallway. Luz and Carlos were upset at how they treated their new friends.

"Don't worry, guys. Once we talk to Bump, we'll get everything sorted out." Willow encouragingly said.

"I know, but what's the point if people get hurt on the way?" Luz disheartedly asked.

"That is a fair question. Here's another question. What the heck is that!?" Guz asked in a panicked voice, pointing at what was ahead of them.

What they saw was the creature from before, as a teacher was running from her. The teacher then turned around and tried using magic, but it failed as the creature just ate it right up. The teacher fell to the ground from having the magic drained from him, as Luz, Gus, Willow and Carlos screamed at what just happened. This made the creature chuckle.

"More cute morsels." The creature said menacingly.

"We may be cute, but we're nobody's morsels." Willow bravely said, as she used her magic to summon the same flower from earlier.

"Time for a poewer-up." Gus said, using his magic to give the flower some muscular-looking arms.

"That's one beefy plant." Carlos said, as Luz nodded in agreement. The plant admired it's upgrade, as it went to attack the creature, only to end up as the creature's next meal. This made Gus and Willow fall to the floor in a weakened state.

"I feel so weak." Willow weakly said, as she tried using her magic but failed.

"Eat this!" Luz said, getting in between the creature and her friends. She then activated a glyph on a piece of paper and threw it at the creature, who ate it. But unlike the other magic it consumed, when the glyph activated, it made the creature yell out in pain.

"We'll get you guys to safety." Carlos said, picking up Willow. Luz picked up Gus as they all ran for safety. They ran to the secret room of shortcuts, as Carlos tackled open the door and Luz followed inside.

"Guys! We need your help!" Luz exclaimed.

"Oh. You two are back." Viney dejectedly said.

"We're sorry for hurting your feelings, but please listen." Carlos said, as he set Willow on the ground. Luz did the same with Gus. The other three saw them and gasped.

"What happened to them?" Viney asked in concern.

"Something horrible is loose in the school." Luz said, as she opened one of the doors to show the creature they ran from sucking the magic out of other students.

"Don't let it see us." Viney said as she ran up to the door and closed it. "I think that's a Greater Basilisk. I heard about them in a class. My cousin at St. Epiderm said she saw one, but those things should be extinct."

"Wait, if they're supposed to be extinct, then what is one doing here?" Carlos asked

"Who knows. It must've attacked other schools, and now it's come for us. We have to do something." Luz said.

"But if Bump catches us mixing magic again..." Jerbo started.

"He'd kick us out of school." Viney finished.

"But what if that thing already got to him? He'd need our help then." Carlos said.

"Hexoleos are out there getting hurt and we're the only ones who can save them. We're troublemakers, right? So let's get out there and make some trouble." Luz said, giving off one of her heroic speeches. This made Viney, Jerbo and Barcus think.

Back in the hallways of Hexside, the Great Basilisk was still wandering the halls eating magic from the students.

"Hungry. Still hungry." She said. As she was slithering down the halls, an activated ice glyph appeared under her and sent her flying into a wall. After that, Luz came out monologging in the same cape she used for her exams.

"From the humblest of beginnings, a hero will rise. I've trained with a secret society to discover the power of mixing magic. I am."

"Dinner!" The Great Basilisk interrupted her. She then lunged at Luz, but Luz ran out of the way in time for the Great Basilisk to run into the huge ice pillar that was behind Luz. She then recovered and started chasing Luz down the hallway.

"Viney! Do the thing! Do the thing!" Luz shouted out while panting. Suddenly, a griffin came from down another hallway and tackled the Great Basilisk to the ground.

"Attagirl, Puddles. Jerbo, now!" Viney sad, calling to Jerbo.

"On it!" Jerbo said, as he used plant magic to open a door the Great Basilisk was apparently under and an abomination opened another door.
The Great Basilisk went through the first door, but got caught in the second door. Luz had jumped down onto the Great Basilisk to push it through the second door. The Great Basilisk landed on the stage in the auditorium, breaking the top from its weight. Luz then jumps off the Great Basilisk and lands on the stage.

"It's all you, Barcus." Luz said. Barcus barked in agreement.

"Where am I?" The Great Basilisk asked with a gasp. Barcus then poured a purple liquid on the Great Basilisk's palm, as he starts making a prediction with his barks. "What's he doing? What'd he say?"

"He's reading your palm, and your future looks bleak." Carlos said, as he used some scissors to cut a rope. By cutting the rope, a bunch of sandbags fell on the Great Basilisk and made all the magic she ate come out of her, returning the magic to each student and faculty member of Hexside.

Luz cheered and hugged Viney, as those in the detention track celebrated their victory.

"You did it. You guys were amazing. You guys..."

"Are in so much trouble." Bump said, interrupting Luz. "Leaving your homeroom, mixing magic and... Is that a secret hideout?" He motioned to the open door to the secret room of shortcuts.

"Yeah, it is. But let's think about this, Principal Bump. Why would kids in the detention track need a secret hideout?" Luz asked.

"I don't care to know the ins and outs of rascality. But if the Emperor's Coven can send an actual inspector this time..." Bump started.

"Okay. You need coven money. But if you have to hurt your students to get it, what's the point?" Carlos added in with his thoughts. "They saved Hexside. They should be allowed to study what they wish."

"B-But..."

"Do the right thing, you dingus." Gus yelled from the opened door.

"All right. I'm smart enough to know when I've made a mistake. Which tracks would you like to be in?" Bump asked the three detention kids, to which Viney gasped.

"Healing and beast keeping." Viney said.

"Plant and abomination." Jerbo said. Barcus barked, as to say he wanted to be in oricle and potions.

"Then so be it." Bump said, using his magic to change their sleeves and tights to the colors they all wanted. "But if any of you cause more property damage, I'm feeding you to the Choosy Hat."

"Congrats, guys." Carlos congratulated them.

"And you two?" Bump asked the Noceda siblings.

"Oh, I still can't choose." Luz dejectedly said. "Maybe it's crazy, but I wish I could study a little bit of everything." Bump then used his magic to make her sleeves and tights the colors of all nine covens.

"And what about you, Carlos?" Bump asked.

"Well, I don't want to study everything like my sister. But I wouldn't mind being in healing, illusions and beast keeping." Carlos said. Bump then used his magic to make his left sleeve light blue, his right sleeve blue and his tights orange.

"You know, only one other student wanted to study every track. Unfortunately, she was never given the opportunity." Bump said, as he magically took the picture from the room of shortcuts. He magically wiped the painting off, revealing it to be a picture of a younger Eda. This made Luz and Carlos gasp then chuckle, as they should've seen this coming.

"I should've guessed." Luz said.

"Guess it was kinda obvious." Carlos added.

"Carlos." Came the voice of Emira, as she came running to give Carlos a big hug. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you all day. And what's with the new get-up?"

"It's a long story. I'll tell you about it once we leave." Carlos told her.

Meanwhile, back with King and the classroom.

"All right. Read chapters three to five on the right way to scratch yourself in public. Spoiler alert. there's no wrong way." King said with a sigh. "Days like these make being a teacher all worth it."

"You're not a teacher." Bump said, as he heard everything while passing by.

"Huh?" King asked, looking to see Bump standing next to him. "Maybe not, but I care about these kids, and nothing can change that." Bump then chases King out of the school with a broom, as he yelps all the way out.

Alright, that's the end of this chapter. I know I didn't have a lot of Emira and Carlos moments, but I promise there will be more in the next chapter. The next chapter will have Tibbles returning for his revenge on his stand being destroyed.

Also, I've been getting a lot of art recommendations for my stories, as they've grown to be pretty popular. Though, there is a problem. I don't have control over what I do with my money, as i am mentally disabled and I guess don't want artwork quite yet for my stories. I like to leave imagination to the viewers to what my stories are like.

Last thing. I am still going to focus on this story, but I am also going to post a chapter for a story or two from my other stories between certain chapters of this story, so no one loses entertainment from my other stories. That's all, and I will see you later.
